Zones

The following is just to explain why we call certain places by certain names in-character and on the wiki. It doesn't mean you're forced to adhere to it; it's just to clear some things up.

"Zone" is a term used throughout the Sonic series to denote the games' playable levels, which are usually comprised of two or three Acts. What makes "zones" significant to our role-playing is that, while this group readily accepts virtually all the locations from the Sonic games as being in its story, it doesn't necessarily always call them by their full zone names.

For example, in Sonic 1, which takes place on South Island, there are zones called Spring Yard Zone and Star Light Zone. Both feature city backdrops (which look like inhabitable cities, and not Eggman factory cities), so we took the liberty of extrapolating on them, and thus creating Spring City and Starlight City, to help make our RP world feel a little more varied and populated.

Similarly, rather than calling Green Hill Zone by its full name, we refer to it as simply Green Hill. The same rings true for Marble Garden, Oil Ocean, Hill Top, Mushroom Hill, and so on and so forth. In general, we just drop the "Zone" title.

Oddballs do exist, however, such as the "Night Zones," Casino Night Zone and Carnival Night Zone. For Casino Night Zone, we conveniently assume that it is the same location as Casino Park from Sonic Heroes, and call it that. Meanwhile, we call Carnival Night Zone it by its alternate multiplayer name, Balloon Park, just because it sounds more fitting of a location name.

Regardless, don't be too concerned. If you'd prefer to call everything "zones," then that's a-okay too.
