General Info
AC-07962-d is a significantly evolved diagnostics A.I. created by Tau during his early work with Chimera. Originally a freeform network-based A.I., it has since evolved to a state its creator believes justifies its own physical body.
While now a fully independent non-network based A.I., AC-07962-d, or Sawbones as it's referred to by capsule troopers, often shares similar personality traits with its creator, though it is known to be a bit more talkative than his near-silent creator. Like his creator, he's not entirely fond of the general nonsense behavior some capsule troopers display, and considers himself to be superior to the general CT populace, thought he never states such openly.
Background
Since having gained a physical body, AC-07962-d has earned a position position within Chimera's R&D division (the department responsible for his body's creation), working directly under Tau's orders. As a competent and trusted R&D member AC-07962-d has been responsible for overseeing assorted projects and is often, much to his own dislike, assigned to observe field tests of prototypes. When not otherwise occupied with tests, AC-07962-d often gets stuck repairing damaged capsule troopers, which, much to his own protests, has earned him the official CT nickname of "Sawbones."
AC-07962-d's body originates from one of Tau's attempts at reverse-engineering the capsule trooper design and technology based on several studies of an assortment of CTs. Much like all of Tau's reverse-engineered projects, the body includes his own personal touches and improvements and has spared no expense in design or components.
One of Sawbones's more notable design changes includes a large equipment pack. The pack houses a wide assortment of scientific and diagnostic tools typically used in daily R&D and general mechanical repair tasks. The pack itself is equipped with several additional hard-point-equipped limbs and its own internal chaos drive based power source.
Another of his notable external design changes is the CT's unique frontal optic design, which is comprised of a much larger left optic and a series of assorted optics of various sizes in place of its right optic.
As per standard Research and Development 'uniform' codes implemented by Tau, Sawbones's coloring is comprised of a white (major surfaces) and black (joints, minor trim) scheme with crimson highlights (in place of the standard CT gray) to signify its higher status in the department.
Capabilities Details
With his body based heavily on reverse-engineered capsule trooper designs, Sawbones' capabilities are comparable to other CTs. Apart from his integrated equipment pack and its perks, his performance capabilities do not differ much.
Miscellanea
Trivia
- Despite being based on reversed engineered CT tech, his core A.I. isn't an Intellidrive. Instead, his A.I. core is based on designs created by Tau.
- Due to his lack of an Intellidrive, Sawbones isn't regarded as a "real" Capsule Trooper by other CTs. This component's absence is immediately detectable by any CT within range, as it is normally used for personal identification, functioning as a sort of IFF. Some CTs are wary of him for this reason, but most appreciate his skill as a repair technician enough to get over it.
- While he carries a sidearm, he prefers to avoid combat, believing it to not be within his "job description."
- Unlike many within Chimera, his loyalty is to his creator Tau first, and the organization and its leaders second.
- His body was designed to be slightly taller than standard CT's to help distinguished him from the general Chimera populace and signify his status.
- He dislikes his "official" CT nickname.
- Though no CT has ever "died" under his... "care," he isn't exactly known to have any moral compunctions about working on those unfortunate enough to be classified as "test subjects."
