Robotic character guidelines
There are some guidelines to follow when making an original robotic character for our story.

The simple rules
Be reasonable
Though this is a futuristic world that we role-play in, don't absolutely overdo it in creating your machine. Robots are often quite powerful as characters, so you should keep fairness in mind. This doesn't mean you should always implement blatant, silly drawbacks (like "not waterproof" or things like that), but instead means you should just keep tabs on how deadly and strong you make your machine for the sake of being considerate to your fellow role-players.
Use common sense, and take into consideration what kinds of characters you may be fighting with your machine, and what kind of resources its builder would've had access to so as to actually make it however powerful it needs to be in the first place (in the event it isn't an Eggman robot, anyway).
Be mindful of our RP story's established technology
If your robot comes equipped with energy weapons, see the directed energy weapons article, and be cautious to differentiate between things like lasers and other beam weapons. Definitely read the article before making any kind of robot that uses energy weapons.
Taking inspiration from existing in-series machines may be okay
It's alright to base your machine off of an existing series of Eggman robot if you like. Just don't make it a "Metal" anything (i.e. no new Metal renditions of characters, like a Metal Blaze, or Metal ... Charmy, or anything silly like that).
Taking inspiration from other sources may or may not be okay
Use discretion in taking inspiration from outside sources. With scifi things like robots, it's perfectly natural to draw on your many influences and favorite series for inspiration. Just make sure that you still maintain some level of originality, and that anything you choose to incorporate still fits with the "feel" of the series. (In other words, don't make a miniature Gundam ripoff.)
Be at least somewhat logical
For example, bear in mind that machines, due to their metal components, armor plating, electronic equipment, armaments, munitions, fuel, power supplies, and so forth tend to be very, very heavy, oftentimes ridiculously so for their size. Be sure to make your machine the appropriate weight, and when role-playing it, remember the adverse effects of weight and momentum during maneuvering and acceleration/deceleration.
For example, did you know that E-102 "Gamma" weighs more than some small automobiles? No joke.
