Consent rule
Never post the action or reaction of another player's character unless he or she gives you permission. |
Don't play other people's characters. It's obvious stuff. Don't RP what happens to another player's character unless you have that player's permission (or unless the inactivity rules allow it). If something you do is going to directly affect another character, then you can imply what would or should happen, and then leave it to the other player to consent to it or avoid it. (e.g. You can say your character threw a punch at another character and leave the other player to react to it and determine whether or not it hit, but you can't definitively punch someone and portray the hit successfully connecting, the damage done, etc. because that's up to the other player to decide and portray.)
But one caveat:
Seemingly unavoidable attacks are not violations of this rule.
Please don't take this rule the wrong way. It does not grant you license to deny or avoid anything and/or everything. Common sense still applies. If someone executes an attack on your character that cannot be reasonably avoided, you should go with the flow and take the hit. If it's something you really, really don't want to happen to your character, you can politely ask the other player to change his or her post, though that person isn't obligated to do so unless the action is somehow story-breaking in nature. We will protect your character from pointless death in most circumstances, and we will definitely prevent players from trying to be senseless, meaningless psycho killers. When in doubt, get an admin involved.
