Chaos Control is the power to manipulate Chaos Energy. Though the term "Chaos Control" is most frequently used to describe teleportation-like phenomenon, it has more recently found use as a catch-all name that can be used to describe any supernatural usage of Chaos Energy.

Chaos Energy

Caution: Too much of this can apparently turn you yellow and give you a really bad haircut.
Chaos Energy is difficult to define. It can be readily converted into a variety of different forms of energy, such as thermal energy, light, electricity, electromagnetism, gravitational energy, and other forms of radiation. It is produced by virtually all living things, and, in general, most lifeforms seem to benefit from being near sources of Chaos Energy. Electronic equipment does not always fare so favorably, however, unless specifically designed to handle and convert CE power sources.

Known sources

Most living things also emit chaos energy. Dr. Eggman has had many schemes in the past using energy extracted from wildlife by machines.

Chaos Control "Teleportation"

Through Chaos Control, an individual can transport him or herself (and anything he or she is holding, or being held by) from one location to another seemingly instantaneously. The phenomenon is much like the concept of hyperspace or "curved space" (and possibly one and the same). From the user's perspective, there is extreme time dilation, bringing the world around the user to a near total standstill. The user becomes unable to interact normally with most physical objects and floats at will, unhindered by gravity. For as long as the user can hold his or her focus, and maintain the constant flow of chaos energy necessary to sustain the state, movement can be freely made to an alternate location before once again resuming normal time flow and interaction with the environment.

RP rules and restrictions

The following guidelines are in place to prevent unfair abuse of Chaos Control in our RP story.

Chaos Control Teleportation CAN...

  • Pass through solid objects. The user won't be able to see while doing so, however.
  • Cover distances up to several hundred yards (under extreme circumstances)
  • Slow perception of time, up to a near complete stop. This varies with the user's experience, capability, and inherent power.
  • Move an object or person that the user is touching prior to entering Chaos Control
  • Be activated almost instantly, by an experienced, skilled user
  • Be used repeatedly in rapid succession, by a user with sufficient power

Chaos Control Teleportation CANNOT...

  • Affect anyone or anything the user is not in contact with at the time of use. The user cannot interact with physical objects until ceasing usage of Chaos Control.
  • Be used to bypass disruptive fields of chaos energy, due to the multidimensional nature of chaos energy. This includes, but is not limited to, chaos-energy-powered forcefields, living things (which are considered to be sources of CE), vehicles powered by CE, and so on.[1]
  • Recall a user to any chosen location in the world. It can only move the user a certain distance from where he or she begins.
  • Be used to escape restraints or holds. For example, if someone tries to use Chaos Control while tied to a chair, the chair will go with him or her. The same goes if he or she tries to use it while held in a chokehold by another character.
  • Be easily learned. Even if a character is powerful enough to utilize it, he or she typically must first experience Chaos Control through another means (such as by being moved through Chaos Control by someone else) before he or she can learn how to do it, except in very rare instances. [2]

Notes

  1. This means you may not make your character destructively teleport inside of another character or CE-powered robot, bypass the defenses of a CE-powered vehicle that is currently in use, etc., though you may still go around these things without issue. This is just to prevent cheapness.)
  2. Express approval from a group admin is necessary before giving a character this power. See powers and skills.
