This article lists what Sonic games are counted as a part of our RP's "backstory"—events that comprise the history leading up to our story.

Master Canon

The following is a list of games that are easily sorted and have definite chronological placement in our story history, and are considered utterly indispensable. They are presented in canonical story order, rather than order of release.

  • Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit)
  • Sonic CD
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (16-bit)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (16-bit)
  • Sonic & Knuckles
  • Sonic Adventure
  • Sonic Adventure 2

Secondary Canon

Games that may have a bearing on the story and world, but have vague placement in time, or just plain aren't as important.

  • Sonic Advance
  • Sonic Advance 2
  • Sonic Advance 3
  • Sonic Rush
  • Sonic Rush Adventure
  • Sonic Colors

Tertiary Canon

It's questionable whether or not the events of these games really took place, but we may still use plot devices or locations from them if we ever need or want to. (These are listed in no particular order.)

  • SegaSonic the Hedgehog
  • Sonic & Tails
  • Sonic & Tails 2 (AKA Sonic Triple Trouble)
  • Tails Adventures
  • Tails' Skypatrol
  • Sonic Drift
  • Sonic Drift 2
  • Knuckles Chaotix
  • Sonic R
  • Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island
  • Sonic Battle
  • Sonic Riders
  • Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
  • Sonic Rivals
  • Sonic Rivals 2
  • Sonic Chronicles

Ugly Canon

Canon by some twist of fate—we try to avoid mentioning them, but they are still there, lurking like the pink elephants in the room that they are. We may regularly use some locations from games like this, but otherwise just... avoid thinking about their stories.

  • Sonic Heroes
  • Shadow the Hedgehog
  • Sonic the Hedgehog (2006—however, this was self-retconning, thank heavens)
  • Sonic Unleashed (we use some locations, but try to ignore that the werehog ever happened)

"Fictional" Canon

The following games are treated as figments of Sonic's imagination, and that's as close to "real" as they get in our story.

  • Sonic and the Secret Rings
  • Sonic and the Black Knight

Absolutely Not Canon

Games that we will not acknowledge the content of in any way.

  • Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
  • Sonic Spinball
  • Sonic X-Treme
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
  • Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing
