It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

"You thought wrong."

Then, with the tiniest of swivels, General Green's frost-frigid stare went from Ace to the mole.

For a long moment, he said nothing, and did nothing.

"Who's your friend?"

On that note, once Green and Ace were talking, and Rock was in a good position to whisper into Jam's ear, he added very quietly:

"Jaaam, why are they here?"

As much as she'd have liked to shake her head and cluck her tongue about boys and their toys or something similarly cliche, much sooner than she'd prepared for, Rock drove the conversation on to Valid Point. Visually, Jam's response looked like someone had dumped a glass of particularly viscous ice water on her, seizing up from head to toe, and once more adopted that "horrible medicine" face she wore with pretty much everything these days.

"Didn't know what else t'do with 'em," she muttered. Her fists balled, she turned to face him, but sort of defeated the purpose by staring very intently at her toes as she went on.

"Went to question him; see how much his GUN buddy knows about us -- Y'know, whether we'll need to go shopping for orange contacts and brown dye any time soon," the way she placed emphasis seemed to hope Rock would find it too interesting/noteworthy to let her continue, but she sighed and digressed.

"Buuut, they apparently decided they didn't like him stickin' fingers in both our pies, or something, 'cause when I showed up, Jackie was hot on his tail, an' Sergeant Hot-pants was chuckin' grenades at 'im."

The girl shrugged.

"Didn't know what else to do with 'em," she repeated.

A short bout of silence, this time not so awkward as it was tense, was the general's only answer.

Ace adapted a pensive, tight-lipped sort of poker face. While his eyes were almost dead set on Green, his hand sneaked out to grasp gingerly at the mole's. It was a unique way to respond, if nothing else. With nothing specific spoken aloud, it said was that his 'friend' was both important to him, and under his direct protection. For once, Caz was the one to speak first. "I'm... ahrm, Caz," she said, as if speaking to a particularly intimidating bouncer at a club. It couldn't really be helped-- something about this 'bot made her feel very uneased on principal. "Hi."

Green's focus did not waver, rather, he seemed to take several moments to absorb the answer.

"Charmed," he replied with a tinge of amiability. Finally he turned his sights once again to the alley cat, ignoring the minimal discussion Rock and Jam had gotten themselves in off to one side. "She certainly seems your type. Any particular reason you've dragged her along for this?"

Rock almost imperceptibly sighed at the situation after hearing Jam's whispered explanation. His eyes wandered the deck for a moment while he gathered his thoughts and contemplated his next move, unknowable as always from the outside.

Finally, he turned to face them again, and piped up.

"He didn't," he answered for Ace. A few slow steps carried him into the midst of the tense scene. He gave Green a look—a sort of facial don't-worry-about-it, with half-lidded eyes, a twisted-down corner of his mouth, and a single shake of his head, before shifting focus back at Ace and Caz again. "Circumstances have been difficult. They ran into each other at the show last night. There's a lot of crap goin' on in general."

There was something very flat and procedural about his tone, like he didn't really want to be having the conversation. Maybe he didn't—or maybe he would have simply preferred to be better prepared for it, and to not be having it aboard one of their most important ships when there were still so many variables in play.

"You wanted to talk, s'let's go talk," he very nearly muttered the words. He motioned for Ace to follow him as he strode toward a nearby door, and gestured him into the hall.(Old concept art from Sonic Adventure, and yes the artist was lazy and mirrored it.)

Ace nodded eagerly at the pale primate, grateful for his intervention. "Yeah. I guess now's a good a time as any," he conceded. In all honesty, he would've refused for Caz's sake, but Jam's presence apparently lifted a great deal of stress off his shoulders regarding her safety. From all she had told him, the two were still close friends, and he could be sure nothing would come to her so long as they were together. He let go of her hand.

"I'll be back soon, a'right?"

"Mm." Caz nodded without argument. There was a certain mutual understanding between them of the importance of this 'talk'... even if she was inching her way towards Jam's side as he parted.

---

It was hard not to be in awe of the sheer size of the place. Whether or not it looked like it could've been but the Egg Destroyer's closet, (it did,) Eggman architecture rarely failed to impress, and the serval took the time to it all in. "Pretty nice place you got here...," he commented, strolling slowly onward as he spoke.

If Jam thought anything at all about Rock and Ace's departure, or the reasons for it, she didn't show it. Really, she just looked tired. She rolled her head around, rotating her shoulders forward and back, and cracked all the knuckles on one hand before she noticed the increase in Caz-proximity.

With an uncomprehending frown, the monkey realized that her visitor was made uncomfortable by the room's other occupant. A liftetime or two ago, that might have even been a shared sentiment, but now...

"He don't bite," she promised, somehow failing to realize she was talking about a bullet-riddled, battle-scarred war machine. Faintly amused, she stepped between the pair, nodding to each in turn.

"General Green, this is Caz, Caz, the General. FYI, we don't call him that because he sells car insurance."

Rock had been desensitized to settings such as airships, space stations, and everything else, and it showed in the way he looked around for a second, like he may have even wondered what in particular Ace was referring to.

"Oh, yeah," he blurted, as if in sudden realization. "This is Caruso's flagship. I don't really spend that much time here."

The primate plodded along at a meandering pace, just a couple steps ahead of the feline. He glanced back over his shoulder; without further wandering, and suddenly impervious to any further smalltalk, he stopped, turned, looked squarely into Ace's eyes with that off-kilter, bi-color stare, and waited in expectant—no, demanding—silence.

Green folded his arms over his chest as Jam moved between them. He may not have bitten, but that didn't change the fact he had a rather large heat-scimitar sheathed at the hip. And a pistol on a table behind him... and a heat-tomahawk by it... and the thing that had opened up a new viewing port in the ship prior to their arrival.

"Yes," he said in a slow tone, "make yourself at home."

And several machine guns lined along the wall. Hopefully her home looked like a military weapons depot.

"If you're anything like your yellow friend, I'm sure--"

"'SCUSE ME I NEED THIS SORRY." Phobia raced past the three of them, grabbing at the colossal warhammer leaning against the red couch. The CT abruptly whirled about, charging out of the room as if in the midst of a tremendous battle.

"--that you'll fit--"

"DIE SPIDER AAAAAAHHHHH DIIIIEEEE"

bang bang bang bang bang bang

"--right in around here."

He sighed into a slump. "...But I guess we're not here to talk interior design, huh."

---

'Well, I figure he can't bite,' Caz thought somberly to herself. 'But that wouldn't necessarily keep him from tearing me in half.'

"Whell, maybe if I could set people on fire with my mind," she laughed out, an impressive effort at hiding her intimidation. "I mean-- n-not that everyone in Chimera does that sorta thing-- o-or that anyone does, I mean, I mean anyone in Chimera-- I mean, y'know, it's just... ehehhheh heh."

---

"Well...," shrugged the serval. "What are we here to talk about?"

Rock's stare only faltered for so long as it took to blink. Once. Solidly.

"I didn't really bring you here," said the white one. He finally turned his head and looked out across the hall, unreadable. "I didn't intend for you to be here at all. When I said we could talk somewhere else, I was just trying to get you to stop spillin' your guts in front of those assholes at the show."

The next time he looked at Ace, his gaze didn't have quite so much intensity to it. It was almost recognizable, palpably identifiable, as the very same lack of emotion and interest he had shown Geoff just the night before.

"We can really just... call it a day, and drop you two someplace safe."

The tension rolling off both metal and mole came in waves, and it wasn't lost on Jam, but she didn't seem inclined to do much about it. ... Unless of course, scrunching her mouth off to the side while looking very resolutely at the ceiling counted as "something." At least she wasn't whistling, yet she did seem all the more determined to focus on something else when one of the General's fold came rushing in to check out a weapon.

The monkey sniffed once very loudly, and pursed her lips, setting her hands on her hips as she rolled back and forth from heels to toes...

Clucked her tongue in a single, obnoxiously resonant pop...

Scratched at her ear...

And eventually got tired of standing waist-deep in thick, loaded silence, and took Rock's place on the uncomfortable-looking red chair.

"So, how 'bout all those loaded mousetraps all over the floor, huh?"

The reply Caz got: total silence. For several long seconds.

He fixed the newly-seated Jam with a look that, if one could read the ever-blank look on his face, would say she IS most certainly his type, before striding toward the machine guns lining the wall in a long, deadly row. He removed the one furthest to the left, inspecting it, perhaps looking simply for something else to focus his attention on, or perhaps... Well, who knew. In any case, he had nothing else to say regarding Ace, nor the other new guest the alley cat had brought along in his stead, but regardless of the inability to exude facial expressions, something about the way he moved seemed to simmer quietly.

"General."

...

"General..."

"What?"

"Um, Phobia just took out like the whole cycling statio--"

"Deal with it."

Slaw swiveled about, departing in rapid fashion.

And so, off they went in opposite directions, leaving the mole stranded in the middle of nothing. At least she was able to sigh out her tension when the general turned his back to her in favor of a gun rack (oh goodie), but was trapped between delivering awkwardly expectant, concerned and steeply-browed glances at Jam, and delivering awkwardly expectant, concerned and steeply-browed glances at the general's backside. Thankfully a stray comment from Jam found its way to her, but the utter non-sequitur-ness of it hardly lifted any veils. All too suddenly, Caz was surrounded by so much of nothing. She opened her mouth to say something:

"..."

But nothing seemed eager to come out, so she closed it again, with her cheeks puffed full of air just before giving it another shot.

"I'm gonna.... head back to the dock," she finally spoke, and promptly made her way to do just that.

---

"Schyeah, well." Ace scratched himself behind one of his floppy ears. "Seemed like if I didn't do somethin' then, I'd never get another chance. You're a hard man to reach, Rock. In more ways than one." His field of vision wavered from the primate's across from him, and for whatever reason, off to the side. Maybe there was just something he didn't want to see in them. But he still had something to say, even while he trudged in the direction of the steel railing he felt compelled to lean on. "I get it that you're not ready to trust me just yet. I prolly wouldn't myself, really. Not exactly a shining reputation for consistency. An' now that I think about it... I'm pretty sure I've pretty much made an enemy of everyone of I've met, at least once." The cat glanced behind himself, apparently in mid-cringe from the brief view Rock received. "...Some more than others."

"I'm really..." He shook his head in search of the words. "I wanna do something right. Y'know? For once in my life, I wanna do something that can help. I don't want there to be so much that-- ...I went through." His eyes roamed around briefly before those last three words, as if looking for a clue the room might have magically provided, but the words themselves felt like a deflation. "Like if I could just take one thing and make it stop, then I could die happy knowing I kept my promise." At last, Ace turned back around, leaning back with his sights refocused on Rock. "And despite that, I still feel like I'm public enemy number 1."

He blinked.

"...Or, maybe number 3." His head shook at the ground like a dissapointed father. "What a mess..."
