It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

There it was—That thing about Rock, where the worse the situation got, the quieter and less readable he became. He barely shifted or showed shock through the whole mess, and only lurched once to catch his balance after the initial gust.

His eyes opened wider and darted rapidly. His pupils quickly dilated to adjust to the lowered light, all of which was coming from the magma behind the crystal. Jam had just gone batso and tried to attack Tails; the mummy-thing was stomping forward like a giant jerk ready to beat their collective faces in; and Toby had landed just yards away from him.

Rock was not a pet lover, but he couldn't help whipping his head to the sound of the pathetic, panicked cries. He acted quick and decisively; without so much as an instant's hesitation, and with blinding speed, he lunged in one smooth shuffle across the metal right in front of Toby. With the habit and speed of a trained fighter, he brushed and deflected one of Toby's flailing fists aside, and in a photo-finish-fast flash of leather, gave the boy a lead-knuckled reply in the form of a right cross to the jawline that would probably be the meanest, hardest dental work he'd ever gotten.

If he made impact as he intended, he immediately made to snatch the chao, and turn attention back to the more dangerous targets. He had to determine who was good and who had lost their marbles, and fast.

"A mummy? Really? Why not throw a jack o' lantern while he's aaaaa... aah, ahhh... hhaahh...!"

Whatever Ace had left to say, didn't seem like it was going to be said. The alley cat lurched back, arms apart like he was suddenly about being electrocuted, like every cluster of nerves in his body was suddenly set on fire. Then forward, then back again, and finally, whatever was going through his system suddenly brought him to his knees.

The huge-fisted silhouette of Knuckles marched forward like a gorilla protecting his territory, rapidly shifting his purple pupils from one target to another. Rock, Sheffer, Kaz, Tails... even Toby's little chao wasn't safe from his stare. But just before he seemed primed to make a move... he nearly tripped. Not over the ground, or his foot, but a bandage wrapped around it.

In a sort of rage, one hand thrust to his leg, and another to his shoulder, and not even in two seconds, a majority of the mummy wraps were torn to ribbons, dusty shreds flying through the air. A few pieces were left hanging loosely on his body, but nothing drew attention to itself like the patch directly on his back, a piece of blue glowing brightly underneath.

He let loose a giant roar, and charged the hell in. No one could be sure, but it seemed like he was headed for his own two-tailed buddy...

A series of high pitched, pained-sounding gasps and pants ensued as Ace's head rocked up and down. Gradually, the intervals between them grew longer and longer, but didn't stop.

The yellow cat tilted his head to Rock's direction,
and he bore his fangs like a wild animal.

"MmmmmMMM. HmmMMM...!"

He stood himself up like an ill-constructed robot, as his brows furrowed deeply down. It was hard to tell if he was trying to say something, or just spewing out new ways to growl. Either way, his march to the monkey seemed something unreal. And that march suddenly became a ground-stomping sprint, his expression nothing short of livid.

"Poh-- eeeeEEESSSAAAAAHNN!"

Should the monkey be careless enough to ignore him, there'd be one hell of a tight-fisted haymaker to remind him.

If Mako was confused before, his previous bewilderment had nothing on what was going on now. Okay. Uhm. So something with glowing and evil and the red guy-- kinda looked like that Knuckles fellow, come to think -- and... ... you know what? He'd rather be back in the tank, the shark decided, because... well, you know, the entire "bunch of people going crazy" thing.

Instead of bursting into a fighting stance, try to kick some ass, he merely leapt out of the way, which resulted in him tripping over his own feet and very nearly smashing into the ground, though he caught himself at the last second. The shark yelped and let loose a rather impressive string of profanities, ending with "I don't even know you people!". He resumed his set of profanities, looking around at those who didn't seem to have lost their bananas, and he shook his head a bit, and without the brief surge of panic:
"Okay, does anyone know what's going on, or are we all as confused as I am?"

Great. From sitting around in a tank and complaining of boredom, to... ... whatever was going on. Mako liked cool stuff happening, but there was a limit.

One second he was flying towards Eggman, and the next he was falling through the darkness. Toby's whole world had been turned upside down for a moment, and when he finally recovered himself and his eyes adjusted to the light, what he saw wasn't pretty. The whole room had flooded with robots of various shapes and sizes, and they were all ready to tear him limb from limb. There was even a Buzz-Bomber that attempted to attack him on the fall down that was now buzzing wildly above his chest. In a panic, Toby swung wildly at the bot, his head darting frantically around for some sign of his friends. In a few moments, he managed to spot Jam being assaulted by a huge Crawl, whom she was just barely managing to fend off with her lightning. Unfortunately, there wasn't much Toby could do to help the girl; he was busy doing his best to keep the Buzz Bomber from impaling him with it's stinger. For the life of him, he couldn't seem to land a hit on the thing... it was just too d*** fast. He swung like some kind of frenzied beast trying to escape a predator, his arms flying in every direction.

That's when he saw it.

Some vicious-looking, ominous, Sonic-shaped bot, very different from the one the group had faced earlier. It was blue, it's spikes were far longer, and it was only about Toby's size. The boy barely got out an "OH SH**!" before the thing's jets fired up and it screamed towards him, delivering a blow to his jaw that felt like it had the force of a moving truck. Cotton flew - and I mean flew through the air, tumbling backwards and slowing to a halt just a few feet from the pink primate. For the record book, if that looked painful to any passer-by, it's because it was.

Jam failed to notice that she wasn't alone or how dark and indistinct her surroundings had become very suddenly.

What she did notice were the robots. Teeming, many, and far more aggressive, grotesque, and in varying states of sea rot than she'd previously seen them. They swiped and lunged at her; she kicked, punched, and shoved them away, lightning bolts and all, but for all the good it seemed to be doing, the monkey may as well have been laying down for it -- Some of them actually seemed to be dodging and deflecting. Odd behavior for robots, even zombie ones, but again, it slipped beneath the increasingly manic monkey's notice.

"Is anybody there?!"

The answer she got was Toby. Certainly, a someone, but not a comforting, nor a vocal reply, since it was accompanied with a sickening crunch as he crumpled to the floor at the hands on his ghastly, creaking monstrosity of a dance partner.

"Toby!"

Jam blanched, but could do nothing to assist, as she immediately found herself staring down a heavily rusted, barnacle-caked derelict of a robot, green in color, and oddly spiny-looking for a sea creature. She recognized it as the very one that had run into her previous adversary just prior.

Gulping down her anxiety, she sunk into a low crouch.

Without awaiting a response, the monkey dove forward into a lithe, speedy sprint, kicking off the metal floor with a dull clang just prior to reaching her target. She somersaulted over it, landing with a sneaky back kick on the dismount, and whirled back around to face it whether or not she'd felt her heel make contact with anything. Without pause, she charged again without hesitation, firing a sloppy, but forceful snapkick off to preface the crackling left-handed palm strike to immediately follow.

The kick to the back was an annoyance. The foot to the chest as he tried to rise was just more of the former. Seeing the incoming slap of electricity was anger-inducing.

Giving out a growl, Sheffer's hand darted out to meet the monkey's, grabbing her just at the wrist. His hand, fortunately enough, grasped an area where the primate had not decided to induce her powers to their full potential, but the hedgehog was still receiving a nasty jolt in the meantime.

His body shaking (and nearly convulsing) from the energy, he gritted his teeth, feeling his quills raise from the electricity. This wasn't suiting him well at all, gritting his teeth and spinning his body around, bringing the monkey's body with him before she had time to act, letting his hand loosen from her arm.

Immediately the electrocuting experience ended, Sheffer gasping for air, twitching lightly. He glanced up to the monkey to see what she would try next (and also to see if he had actually done anything to stop her) before he got another thousand volts shot through him.

Ace's battle scream was hard to ignore. No sooner than Rock had decked Toby and gotten the chao tucked into his arm like a football, he heard the sound of impending pain, wheeled around, and found himself just a second from impact.

Bad positioning, an encumbered hand (Kyle), and lack of time to rectify those things meant even such a telegraphed haymaker was not something Rock could turn around and counter, even though it'd be about as easy as riding a bicycle under any other circumstances. Instead, with a grimace that anticipated injury from the ambush, he went with his best twitch reaction and hopped back fast, his head tilted back as far as it could go, just barely enough to pull out of the wild swing's path. (Ace literally fanned Rock's face with air coming off his fist.)

While the cat was still in a hair-of-a-second stagger from that balls-out, blockbuster punch, Rock juked just barely left and snapped out a quick, piston-like kidney punch, blurting an irritated "Wake up, asshat," as he did. As assaultive as he normally was, the monkey had already shifted to playing defensively, focusing on moving around Ace while trying to tuck the chao behind his back and out of the way so he could have some freedom to deal with the cat without having to resort to quite so much in the way of fisticuffs. As much as beating up all his friends might have had the capacity to stop them, he would essentially be doing Eggman's job for him.

"Something's controllin'em," he blurted as soon as he got around to it, prompted by Mako. "We got no time for this..."

There was something out and out alarming about being grabbed by one of these things; not in that its cold metal touch was particular painful or repugnant, but even in the flurry of other activity and general "should not be so" theme of the last couple minutes, Jam knew foreign tactics when she was slung around by them.

"Things things don't fight like normal Eggman bots!" she called to her compatriot as she whipped around in a fluid 180, and faced down her opponent once more.

The monkey's marionette-like movements had barely come to a stop from Sheffer's dismissal before she was on the rebound, coming in low and fast. Entirely unsympathetic to the spiny one's plight, she fired a hard elbow strike to his clavicle region, while simultaneously bringing the opposite knee up and forward in a literal gut check.

"And when the hell did they get so damn tough?!"

This time, he was ready. Foreseeing the monkey's next attack, he moved just in time for her elbow only to brush his shoulder. Her knee went completely without contact, Sheffer letting her fly by without a bruise on his body. He still had received another jolt, but it was nothing compared to what Jam had already fired through him.

As he watched her go by, he took immediate action, facing the direction she had gone, his body crouching, like so many times before, into a spin. The high pitched whir rose faster then usual, the hedgehog being hasty with his actions, not wanting the monkey to throw another punch. With sparks flying on the metal ground and his body purely a blur, he shot forward straight at Jam.

Just as it seemed he would make contact, he pulled out of the spin dash, legs extended. This was no time for sympathy, but Sheffer wasn't going to cut the girl into ribbons. He'd rather just knock the wind out of her, which appeared to be a possible consequence if his feet connected.

The innate problem with spindashing was one's lack of ability to really aim once committed, so when hedgehog-turned-buzzsaw unfurled to unleash his mighty double kick at the distant primate, he'd find her very simply, not there.

Officially having lost all preconceptions of whatever she was fighting, Jam gritted her teeth as the thing's apparently highly evolved combat AI dragged the brawl out further, increasing her desperation to end it quickly, and figure out what the heck was going on.

As the mysteriously agile clunker of an opponent dismissed her yet again, her frustration mounted, and she, too, was ready when it revved its engine for the jousting match it apparently aimed to start.

She surged forward simultaneously with Sheffer's start, but veered deftly off to the side prior to impact, and kicked hard off the ground, launching herself up and well over her would-have been attacker's head.

Inside the globe of arcing bolts, the strawberry-hued simian smirked without amusement. She was going to finish this. Violently, and decisively. Just before she began to lose altitude (not even a half second after her kick-off), she double jumped with a blinding flash of concentrated CE and --

Dropped to her feet uneventfully, looking slightly confused. She twisted at the waist, and began staring emptily in Toby's direction. Odd, but at least for the moment, she seemed uninterested in fisticuffs.

"What the f-- I saw 'em! Toby, did you see?! They're here! They're like -- In another dimension, or something, but I saw that green dude!"

Somewhat frustrated at his own accuracy, Sheffer didn't waste a moment. His feet skidding across the floor, he turned in mid-slide, immediately charging towards the red monkey. As he sprinted towards his intended target, he noticed she seemed to be unaware of his incoming assault. Whatever the reason of her slight obliviousness, he didn't bother to pause.

Soon, he reached her, his hand already crunched into his fist. Throwing his arm forward, he aimed for her side. With intensity of the thrown punch, plus the speed he had already been sprinting at, this would make quite a might blow if it connected with her body. If being the underlining word.

There seemed to be a glow coming from her pouch as he neared her, but he didn't take the time to really notice...

The echidna had chosen his target, and it was made clear as day to anyone still watching him. His arms tucked into his chest like a boxer, his feet stomped their way in a straight, lethal line-- directly at the unsuspecting Tails. Normally, he wouldn't bother with the tiny ones first, but against his better judgment, he was certain this one could be taken out quickly enough to not be a problem for long. He didn't appear quite as teeth-gnashing enraged as the cat did, but there was no question he was not in a pleasant mood. So it was with a swift, tranquil fury that he did haul ass to the little fox boy, rear back his good leg, and aim to swiftly punt him through the cave's very ceiling.

Ace on the other hand, was clearly in a very nasty frame of mind. Even the biting jab in his side was met with fewer words than a throaty growl. His physical reaction however, was a bit different. The cat recoiled-- perhaps more than he should have for such a glancing blow, and stepped back, facing his back towards his target in apparent pain. It was in that fleeting split-second that someone whose senses were so attuned as the monkey's, might notice the pale blue glow in the pocket Ace stored his crystal in.

But he hopefully wouldn't focus on it too long, for as Ace turned around again, that view would be replaced by two broken blaster pistols being chucked at his head and torso. They glowed a similar color, and with such force that if they didn't hit him, would shatter the wall behind him.

That little pause—The slightest sight of the back of a "foe" in the middle of a fight—would give Rock an incredible impulse to end the fight under any other circumstances, but in this uncertain situation, he stayed his hand (or rather, fists), and took note of that suspicious glow.

He promptly wished he had just gone ahead and punched Ace in the back of the head and called lights-out, because he had a pair of charged projectiles flying back at him without enough warning to do anything about it but hunch down as fast as he could, keep his dukes up, and take it for what it was worth. (Fortunately, even if they had missed, they were about a half a mile from any big, breakable, magma-backed walls, so the group was spared the possibility of catastrophe for the moment.) One hit the back of his fists, which were shielding his face, while the other hit the bottoms of his elbows and forearms, guarding his chest and upper stomach. The repulsive concussion of the two energized weapons breaking and busting apart sent him off his feet. He hit the floor on the backs of his shoulders, sliding across the slick metal floor on the (regretfully empty) shotgun holster hanging down his back, before friction kicked in enough to cause him to roll and snap back to a low crouch on his feet some twenty feet from where he'd started, ready to pick up fighting that instant if needbe.

His arms and body hurt from all that, but he contained the ferocity that such a blow would normally eke out of him. Communication was more important; "It's the stupid crystals—They picked some up!" he shouted. He had noticed a couple of them doing that, but thought little of it at the time... Lesson learned.

Tails hop-skipped backwards quickly, dancing a delicate little dance in order to avoid tripping on his own two feet on the rubble-strewn floor. The fight sped past him. Uncertain as he was about who to tackle first, he was not long short of an answer. A cold, deadly ghost of air rushing in his ears warned him that something terrible was about to happen.

He looked quickly back and forth, and caught a red blur out of the corner of his eye, almost in time to leap away. Almost.

Knuckles kick caught him on his feet, and the upwards inertia on his tail end caused him to spin in mid-air and make a terrific face-plant upon the ground as he came down.

"Bhoof!" he managed through the dirt, and pushed off of the ground with his palms to launch upright again, away from Knuckles, in an awkward and somewhat unbalanced somersault.

There was a brief moment where he stared at the echidna, frozen, and then with great flourish proceeded to kick a largish chunk of igneous rock at the echidna, with enough force to hurt, if not actually injure.

Kyle was scooped up in the nick of time, right before his bff gave him a buddy-beat down. The little chao barely had any idea what was going on when all of a sudden, Toby got seriously messed up by one of Rock’s mean punches. “AH!! NA JIBA!!” The chao’s cry echoed throughout the cavern, and within a matter of seconds, the little fella began blubbering in Rock’s arms. With all his strengths, quirks and pranks, it was easy to forget what Kyle was; a chao, completely dependent on Toby, and only four years old.

As his temporary monkey master fought on, Kyle buried his face in Rock’s jacket, muffled sobs still escaping. Kyle’s hands wrapped tightly around the arm that held him, still not sure exactly what was going on. Despite the chaos around him, the waterworks soon ebbed away. There were a few words Rock had thrown out that Kyle managed to catch… controlled, being one of them.

His brow furrowed, and if the monkey was paying any attention at all, he would begin to notice the already tight grip of the chao grow stronger and stronger. Rock was holding one seriouslypissed-off chao. The little guys’ eyes squinted, and as Rock hit the ground from Ace’s blast, Kyle began to do something very peculiar.

Starting at the ball floating above his head and working its way all the way down to his feet, a line began to show on the creature’s gelatinous body. In seconds, the two halves of Kyle’s body began to pull away from each other, almost as if they were going to rip the poor little thing to pieces. Well, that’s exactly what happened.

Kyle split in half.

Breaking free from the monkey’s grip, two very determined, very angry looking chao hovered in front of him. They both bore a striking resemblance to their simian savior, barring one striking difference between the two.

One chao’s eyes were pink. The other, blue.
