It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

A blanket of clouds rolled out far below, largely obscuring the view of the cities of the United Federation and South Island. The haze layer, which formed a sort of second horizon at that altitude, was only scantly glowing in the light of the cratered moon and the starry sky. In the midst of it all, the fleet of airships, a fraction of the former Egg Fleet, scattered itself at various altitudes. Many of the ships colorfully imitated fish in some shape or form; to have been a man who so enjoyed encasing wildlife in robots, Eggman seemed to quite enjoy his own particular perfections on animal forms (or corruptions thereof, in the eye of a more sane beholder). For instance, what would have been a charming, swordfish-shaped airship was in fact a cannon-loaded mess, its long, pointed bill bristling with guns. Fortunately, the vehicle they were after was not quite so bristly in that regard. A so-called "Orca Class" vessel, the ship was indeed huge, black and white, and sleek—maybe even sleeker than the real deal, with very swept-back wings (fins?) and other aerodynamic features. Another deviation from the design for which the ship was named was the flat upper deck that ran all around its dorsal "fin" structure, the open rear deck perched atop the horizontal tail fin, and the closed, armored bridge area, set lower and to the front, along where eyes should have been. It almost made the thing look more like a killer whale wearing some sort of techno-mono-goggle. It was equipped with guns and cannons, but not an immense number; they mostly dotted its surface in defensive-looking emplacements, with the heaviest turrets located at the rear, as if to ward off pursuers. Truly, though, it would rely on its escorts for any real protection in combat. That said, there were indeed escorts in flight, not only in the form of other airships close by, but also Balkiries, the red-painted bird-jet robots normally associated with Eggman, but now bearing Chimera logos. It was already a speckled, busy-looking sky abuzz with the many lights of the airships and the glowing exhaust of the flying patrols, but it was about to become busier. A few very small, quiet infiltrators, an encroaching flight of gliders, contributed their own glow and noise as they approached the scene. The hang gliders, darkly colored and equipped with some form of small, disposable-looking rocket-boosters crackled their way across the sky. Soon enough, there was the crackling of static as a voice began to address all of them. There was a attitude of serious business behind it, though one almost couldn't help but get the funny feeling that the speaker was a little too excited to really keep up the urgency in his voice. ... Or even focus at all.
"Alright, agents - we're nearing our final destination. Go ahead and hit the -- wait, which was... o-oh, the blue -- yes -- blue switch nearest to you, and cut the thrusters! Shut 'em down - it's time to prep for the initial boarding minus the telltale heat signature, so we're glidin' in from here. For those who aren't used to this mode of transportation, never -- no, always stay relaxed. Don't tense! Keep your eyes on the ball-- uh, the ship. Just... stay on target, and don't veer off too far to the left or right, or... or any other direction. If you miss, there's... not a lot of fuel left in these things, and we won't be able to get you back up here, so you'll end up gliding for... uh. For a very long, undesirable amount of time until you land back on solid ground, water, or a volcano or something, so... don't miss! Please."
Assuming that all present had received his message, the panda would kill the rockets on his own glider, and simply continue the descent towards the airship.
"Oh, one more thing - Don't forget how to actually land, like we've discussed before! Otherwise, entry may get a bit messyyy... cough. Fenn, out." Kcssht.
...
Kcssht. "Thank you for choosing Mad Gear Flights. Tip your flight attendants, watch your step, and have a nice daaaay..." Ksscht.... "Wait, like we discussed what before?" came the belated reply from the hog flying somewhere off Fenn's starboard wing. Unlike everyone else, who had two little rocket engines on their glider, his had three. Was it any wonder why? "I don't think we discussed that. Can we discuss that?" The answer was swift. And none too assuring.
"Uh, w-wait, sorry -- hold all of your questions 'till the end of the tour, 'cause Agent Pax is about to activate the signal jammer, and the radio's gonna get quiet for a bit! Hang on tight, friends -- See you on the other side. ... wait, that sounded a bit--... searchindextag chapter6search

Ivan was flying somewhere off on the port side of Fenn's aircraft. When he made meantion of some colored button, he looked around for it. The monochrome bunny looked down, once again clenching his jaw. They were really high up, weren't they?
"Aye... Don't miss. Good advice," He said, sounding maybe a little unnerved, "The hell happened to ships bein' in the water?"
Being a seafaring robber, it was only natural that flying several hundreds of miles above the ground would be scary.

Geoff, on the other hand, was a bit more relaxed. Not completely at ease, per say, but enough to only warrant one or two uneasy glances downward. There was still thousands of feet of sheer nothing lying below, after all, and any sane person lacking wings and experience with such high-flying activities probably wouldn't find themselves absolutely comfortable gliding this far up, the hedgehog not being excluded. He opted to keep his eyes glued onto the looming ship ahead than the night-covered ground below.
"Militaries found the joys of carpet bombing," responded Geoff to Ivan with at least some tinge of humor in his voice. "Always wondered what it'd be like to be born with wings, though. Guess this is the closest I'll get."
At least he seemed to be in a substantially better mood than that morning. High altitudes and the rush of flying apparently had done some positive work on the hedgehog.

"No, seriously, did I miss a memo? On the landing? The landing thing?" Casey shouted aloud instead of over the radio.
Casey, wearing a rather undignified bright-blue open-faced crash helmet with ill-fitting goggles, looked most unhappily toward the group's new technician. He hrmbled and brmbled all grumbly to himself, and nonetheless did as told, and hit the blue switch, cutting his engines. He soon nosed down to compensate for the sudden loss of thrust, and began the steady descent toward the airship.
"Maybe I was in the bathroom for that part? Aw, daggone it, now I gotta go to the bathroom..."

For someone who'd never even ridden in an automobile, Latika was startlingly competent, both at working her radio, and at operating the outlandish means of transportation. Her thrusters were disengaged properly, and she seemed to have remarkably little comment on the situation, perhaps, under some kind of incredibly skewed misconception that this was just another day in the wonderful world of the West, and something to become acclimated to.
Nevertheless, in a clean, solely momentum-and-gravity-fueled dive, the porter pulled even with the boar, waving a hand to catch his attention, as she shouted, "Mr. Casey, radio is silence right now! No one is received by your transmission!"
"Didn't you read information pamphlet?" she digressed at a holler. "After stalling nose and tips in succession, approach landing grounds faster than trim, and round out into ground effect, pushing up on wings, and allow to fall off back onto keel!"

Jack circled the group, watching each of them manage to take flight was pretty impressive. The machines themselves were also pretty clever, but Jack still was glad she didn't need one. Complex machines and her never got along well, with of course the exception of her robotic partner. Ex-partner.
Jack tried not to let herself get distracted as she flew. Surprisingly they were doing well. Her only form of measurement however was that they where all still in the air and not plummeting to certain death.
"Yer doin' fine Casey. Relax!" She called to him as she passed over his head, deciding she might as well come down first given she'd have the easiest time doing so. She made sure not to get into anyone's flight path as she made her way down towards the deck of the big whale themed airship.

"Alright, jammer's goin' on in fifteen seconds!" called a shaky but loud voice. Pax had little idea how to use a hang glider, let alone one with rockets, but minutes of experimentation helped guide him to the forefront of the group's flight. "I'm not sure how long it'll last! It'll keep going 'til someone finds the source and fixes it, or it overloads and explodes! Either one!"
"You're not even sure if this is gonna last long enough!?" came even louder, shrill, and utterly panicked voice from the far rear. "I don't do this sorta crazy $%@& if the guy in charge doesn't know for sure! O-ohh god, I #&*$ing hate this! I wanna be on the ground!"
"Jammer's going online! Let's go!" Paxton called, doing his best to wave people forward without losing his delicate balance.

Finally, with the word to go, Ivan hit the switch, releasing his rockets, and soared unassisted, with nothing but the rushing wind keeping him afloat. Now with radio communication out of the question, he kept any one-liners he had to himself.
Ivan was a very visual learner, and a dinky little pamphlet with bullet points and pictures for instructions wasn't quite enough. He gulped as he dove toward their target and lifted the nose to level out over the deck. There was a small miscalculation, however. His landing, not as smooth as it should be. In fact, it may not have been classified as a landing at all. More of a crash landing.
As he glided over the deck around the fin of the vessel, he was too high, so he dove to compensate, leveling out again perhaps too late. He quite literally tripped over himself as his feet hit the ground. The hang glider skidded across the deck without him as he tumbled and rolled before stopping flat on his back. For better or worse, he was mostly unscathed, and was now on the airship.

Though Avatar had never flown before, she was having the time of her life! The fish was flying above everyone, staring straight at her destination. The airship.
"Yo, you all need to chill dudes." The piranha said - noticing both the pig and the wolverine freaking out over being in the air. Avatar dived down closer to Tyra. "Flying is fun yo. Ya just gotta roll with it."
With that, Avatar released her rockets and glided over to the ship, landing across from Ivan, except more gracefully.

Within seconds, Fenn himself had touched down as well -- though, the procedure was made a touch more difficult due to onset snickering as Ivan had... minor problems sticking the landing.
Fenn gently cast aside the glider, replacing his cumbersome safety helmet and goggles with his own personal set of headgear. Once he felt comfortable with his attire, he cast a wary glance around the deck before quickly hoofing it over to the hare to give him a hand. Assuming he accepted the assistance, the panda gave his co-worker a hearty pat on the shoulder as he brought him up to his feet, whispering a few... encouraging words. ("Yeah, c'mon, you did.. good! You did good, don't worry, you were.. you were as graceful as a... well, let's just say you did alright.")
Fenn gave the pirate a hearty grin before he turned to seek out any of the other arriving gliders, just in case there was a pressing need to dive out of the way.

Paxton was quick to fall in behind Fenn. He sought to land near the panda and pirate, but an unfamiliarity with the power of rocket engines attached to hang gliders meant that he found himself sailing a little too fast to meet the mark. He overshot it, swooshing over their heads and hitting the ground running, trying to slow himself down. The agent outright tripped over his feet and lost his grip on the glider, which went tumbling down onto the surface of the ship where it skidded and came to a rest alongside Ivan's. But at the very least, Pax stayed on his feet for the most part. Hoping that no one was watching his rough landing too closely, he sheepishly turned back to regroup with the others.
Tyra, meanwhile, had no idea how to fly a hang glider, and had no interest to find out. The feeling of flying far too high in the air, her survival linked to a hang glider made of cheap canvas or plastic with rockets attached to it had sent her mind into a complete frenzy, and Avatar's comments only made her want to sock the piranha in the face for being so flippant about it. Tired of falling behind, she forced herself to hit the engines to follow the others, and immediately regretted it when her poor balance sent her forward shaking and tilting in ways that only worsened her anxiety. Much like Ivan, the wolverine had to deal with a crash landing. Unlike Ivan, she had little idea how to control herself, and went flying at the airship at a near perpendicular drop. Seeing the ship's deck rapidly approaching her face at uncomfortable speeds, Tyra swerved to the right out of impulse, which served to only slam her into the metal sideways. The left side of the wing crumpled from the impact, but the rockets still seemed to have some kick in them, as the glider kept going off until it bounced off the side of the ship and fell to the earth below. Tyra herself had let go of the thing as soon as she collided with the metal. The way she rolled across the surface looked painful, but the girl was quick to slow herself and catch a grip on something. Rising to her knees and panting heavily, still extremely tense, the wolverine climbed to her feet--albeit looking quite off-kilter.

Fenn had meant for them to turn their engines off on the final approach."Alright, agents - we're nearing our final destination. Go ahead and hit the -- wait, which was... o-oh, the blue -- yes -- blue switch nearest to you, and cut the thrusters! Shut 'em down - it's time to prep for the initial boarding minus the telltale heat signature, so we're glidin' in from here." As a result of Pax and Tyra's confusion, their bright glow, loud noise, and vivid infrared signature immediately drew attention, resulting in four of the bright red Balkiry robots swooping directly at them during their approach. Their landing actually probably wouldn't go as smoothly as intended, and they'd have trouble chasing them as soon as they were on the deck, including about three dull, orange Egg Pawns plodding up with what looked like missile launchers hanging off their backs, and energy pistols in hand.
Those who listened to Fenn probably made it on board fairly smoothly, though, since none of the robots that noticed their teammates could radio to sound an alert.
The tail fin deck didn't have a ton of cover to provide, though there were some openings where there seemed to be open launch bays for vehicles and robots. What laid within was another question entirely, though. If they wanted to advance toward the bridge, they could either take their chances inside and escape the robots hassling them, or just continue with speed through the open, up the airship's backside toward its dorsal fin. Given the constant whoosh of wind and darkness of night, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad route, assuming they could dispense with the pursuers they already gained. (And not fall off the ship at any point in the process.)

With rockets long ago abandoned, Geoff came swooping down towards the deck, feet preemptively moving only a few feet above what was now his landing strip. Only a couple of seconds later, he was touching ground, letting himself skim across as he came to a gradual stop, trying to keep control. Finally, all momentum ceased, no mishaps made as the hedgehog stood on the deck in one piece, resting his glider onto the metal floor of the ship. With one quick glance around, he realized he was one of the luckier ones.
Jogging over, eyes squinting in the high-altitude winds, he approached Ivan and Fenn. Before he could even say a word, however, he noted what appeared to be a brewing trouble already occurring with Pax and Tyra, Geoff frowning.
"Looks like your instructions fell on deaf ears," he stated bluntly, his body already turning towards the incoming threats in preparation.

Casey was not set any more at ease by all the advice given him. It just seemed to frustrate him a bit more, frankly. He was further confused by the situation when some of the other party members suddenly went rocketing off to crash into the deck ahead of him.
Things already weren't going well. Things never went well.
The big guy braced himself as he approached. In all his tension and distraction, he lost track of just how much speed he was dropping, and proceeded to nose down yet more, throwing himself into an unintentional dive just shy of the back of the airship. With teeth (among other things) clenched, and a quiet "Hnnnngnghghgh" escaping his tight-pulled lips, he pulled back as hard as he could—easier said than done with only one working arm—and just barely crested the rear of the airship in a near-vertical climb.
... Before stalling and doing the hang-glider equivalent of a belly flop onto the metal deck.
*WHANK.*
"... I'm okay!"

Without show or event, the loris swooped down at speeds she'd never even fathomed, gently skimmed the surface of the deck with an easy grace, and coasted carefully to a stop, segueing cleanly into a (for her) nimble gait that simply left the glider behind in her wake.
Through squinting eyes and whipping hair, Latika observed her surroundings with a subdued wonder; she crept cautiously towards the edge of the deck, as if to doubly ascertain that they were indeed on what was tantamount to a giant floating garage. It was only then that she noticed a couple of her teammates in trouble. Her brows flattened, and she hesitated just long enough to draw her meteor hammer from... wherever she kept it, and march forward.
After five or six enthusiastic revolutions that coiled the weapon around her shoulder, Lattie swung her back leg forward in the same motion that loosed the rope from her elbow, and fired the hammer straight at the backside of the middle Eggpawn. Even at that altitude, the wind didn't have much to say to a 20lb. bronze ball.
