This thread will be used to log any changes to rules or related things on the wiki since... well, people should probably be notified when the rules of the RP change on them.
That said, we tend to have relatively few significant rule changes around here. Most of it is just clarification or slight tweaking, but, nonetheless, from here on out, we will endeavor to record these changes in this thread. We will start this first post with changes made since the beginning of 2012.
There isn't anything especially significant in this opening post so don't worry too much about it. It just felt like a thread that needed to exist.
Main Rules Article- Added link to Weapon Guidelines
- Added "Ten very basic things to know before you join"
Original Character Guidelines- Clarified that official characters do not set any precedent for what is normal for original characters, and that they are the most extreme of the extreme in many cases.
- Added guideline: "Don't go overboard with clinical conditions" (i.e. assigning real-life psychological conditions to characters)
- Did general rearranging for readability
- Permission required for involvement of Chaos Emeralds in original character backstories
- Added "Don't get carried away with deriving traits from your character's species" section, which is to say people shouldn't throw around silly generalizations like all dogs hating cats and so on and so forth since we are playing characters who are people more than animals.
Powers and Skills- Added "Justification of unusual powers" section
Star Ratings- Clarification of Toughness rating ("Here, toughness relates to how easy or difficult it is to injure your character. [...] What this rating doesn't cover quite so much is how well your character is able to persevere and keep fighting through injury. That's more dictated by your character's stamina, vitality (CE), and recovery in the next (and final) star rating, Energy.")
- Added different tiers of "toughened" star
- Clarified that chaos energy is tied to regeneration, and characters cannot have regen stars without having above-average energy
- Lowered value of Chaos Control teleportation star
Weapon Guidelines- Created! Not completed.
Injury- Added BURNING AND ELECTROCUTION because they're delightful topics
- Added scrapes and abrasions (except not really, as the entry eloquently says "hey, this is a Sonic RP, goofball, don't worry about your character's skin getting ripped off because he fell down at 80MPH, we aren't that realistic")
- Explained EMP a little better
Writing Tips- Added section on proper use of quotes and punctuation, since relatively few people know how punctuation should interact with quotations (whether or not the punctuation goes inside or outside the quotes, whether or not quotes should end with a comma or a period if followed by narration, etc.)
