Caz darted like a madmole through the whole harbor-turned battlefield with a speed she didn't know she had (ultimately, running even ahead of Ace by a good bit). Madly swiping her trusty lead pipe at random didn't get her very far, but it did get her somewhere as she felt a solid collision against a Buzz Bomber that ultimately sent it sprawling to the ground warped like a bendy straw... For at least a little while, anyway.

And soon, into view came Elegant Joe's wonderful, golden, robot-arm of hope reaching down from the heavens themselves, and when the opportunity to grab it came, she took it. Her fingers wrapped around his mechanical wrist,
and a set of mechanical fingers wrapped around her ankle.

Wait, what?

One particularly vengeful Egg Pawn apparently didn't want to lose her company, and for a minute there, it looked like there was going to be a very violent form of tug-of-war between Joe and the Pawn.

Not for long, of course.

Ace (with one nasty-ass look on his face) sent out one more shard of a card and quite simply severed the robotic arm (the Pawn's, that is) at its elbow,
leaving Caz to scramble to the relative safety of the truck. And just as the truck started to move on, Ace made a leap of faith-- not to the truck, but to the robot he'd just amputated. Planting his foot on it's head, he performed a second leap, this time very much to the truck. His fingers gripped tightly against the railing as it sped onward, but it seemed like he was having trouble pulling himself up...

What was he doing referring to the robots? Teck raised his brow, stifling, "N-no, no - not the robots, th-the ship! The actual ship!" He emphasized with a stiff point of the finger.

"Now forgive me if I'm wrong, as my vision is arse, but the gun turrets on the ship are all pointed forward at the moment since its path of destruction is northward to the city - nothing at the moment is too far behind it except for us and maybe a few others. If we can just permeate the ship unnoticed, then we can spark some sort of catalyst within the engine room (assuming it has one) to seal its fate! If you have an explosive, we could use that, or I have my aforementioned trump card. Your call. Either way, the source is better off being taken care of first before the grunts - its causing a lot more destruction than these robots! And all ghostliness aside, this is Dr. Eggman we're talking about here - I'm sorry if I am not the superstitious type, but I am simply not buying into this apparition folly, mehself. Something mechanical is driving that ship and it needs to be taken care of!"

Rock rolled his eyes, but steered toward the ship nonetheless. It'd take them a minute to catch up, though, since they kind of had to use roads, while the walking ship made its own path, leaving unnavigable ruin and debris in its wake.

"I'm sayin' that if we can't even bust the small fries, what makes you think the big one's any different?!"

Rock practically got spit on the cracked windshield as he dropped a pretty high-power f-bomb, although it was hard to tell if it was his frustration with the planning process, or the fact that he just barely missed a new six foot trench in the pavement created by the walking boat's hefty feet.

The monkey fumed something about "trump cards" lowly, clutching the steering wheel in a death grip as he drew nearer to the hazard. They were about fifteen seconds away.

"Ahhshit--" was Elegant Joe's reaction to the hanger-on Egg Pawn and he clamored with his other hand for his SMG (he'd dropped it when he'd reached out for the mole girl), but the situation was taken care of cleanly enough, and he helped haul her fully onto the flatbed before it got going too quickly.

When Ace made his leap of faith and the semi started picking up speed, a group of seaweed-infested, mold-drenched Motobugs zipped up to the rumbling flatbed, pincers lashing out just behind the cat's tail. Joe only seemed to notice the yellow guy was having trouble. "Ah, geez." He jolted his body down onto his stomach and snatched one of the guy's arms, and Killey and Sparky opened up one bigass can of Gonna Shoot You Dead at the pursuing wheely-bots, all while the flatbed jostled and thundered along. "C'mon--"

On the other side of things, if Cross and his buddies heard what Teck and those in the cab were talking about, they never looked it (or at least offered no immediate input). They were kinda busy with, y'know, shooting the various 'bots that were trying to catch up to the semi and latch on to its side.

It didn't take long at all for them to realize where exactly the semi was headed, though. They looked at each other apprehensively, but this was their job, and if they could settle this now instead of later, they'd go for it, so there were no outright complaints.

It seemed one of them had been listening (however long-winded the orange porcupine guy might be). Killey knelt close to Teck and put a hand on the cab for stability while the flatbed rumbled beneath him. "I've still got some explosives if we need them," the moose yelled above the noise. He had used a lot during the night, but he still had enough for one big boom if necessary.

As much as Jam normally hated to be made obsolete, she knew a losing battle when she saw one, and merely contented herself to lean out the passenger's side window, and take potshots at their more metallic, unwanted hitchhikers, minimizing casualties and losses from their newly acquired makeshift militia.

Between the explosions, gunfire, Godzilla-esque stomping, screaming, and general bedlam, the redder of the monkeys didn't have much of an ear to spare for whatever it was going though Teck's brain, and was probably barely even heard herself, when chipping in her own response of "Zilch" to the question of cores, but she did take notice when their escape turned to pursuit.

"Are you serious?" she yelled, ducking back into the cab, first very clearly at Rock, and then at the orange instigator of operation: crazy. "Are you frickin' -- " There was a brief pause, wherein the jam-colored primate looked rather like she was trying to chew her own lips off, before expectorating a very unladylike word, and began climbing out the back window and onto the bed with a brusquely muttered, "Move over, damnit."

"If we live through this," she told the porcupine, squeezing out in between him and the moose. "Remind me t'hate you."

All in all, Teck was seeing this in black and white: there were lackeys, then there was the source. He wasn't overly accustomed to the nature of the crisis like Jam & Rock might have been, and with that in mind, he whipped out his ever customary logic, "Just think logically, m'boy. What would you rather have stick around? A bunch of lackeys that the FEDS are having an easy time with keeping at bay... hell, even citizens are bludgeoning em' down with their briefcases! Or would you rather have the giant walking boat where every bloody step it takes creates a new pothole stick around? Also, reflecting on the possibility of mechanical origins for these... 'ghosts'", he emphasized with the quote-finger gesture, "They'd be using a technology not exclusive to his normal denizens - it's quite possible that taking down that ship would thereby disable their AI or something along those lines. Probably not, but still, a right decent perk if so!"

Teck was having very much trouble grasping the possibility of authentic paranormal origins to this whole predicament - he was so logic-minded that ghosts seemed like a joke to him. Sandopolis pyramid? What the hell is that? Pumpkin Hill? Never heard of it. Cryptic Castle? Feh, it's just children's stories! He was reminded of this when a certain chippy pinkish primate pushed him aside and spewed that rather inhospitable remark, stoking his innate sass, "Dah'ling, if we get through this, I have a feeling your opinion on me will be subject to change. Now go, Sparky - use those powers of your's! Do something! We have your back if you need backup - signal us with a lightning bolt or something."

Ace let out an ugly, visceral sort of grunt as he helped Joe help him back to semi-safezone the truck had become. With one final heave and a strain to match, he rolled over his shoulder and onto his back, huffing and puffing off his desperation. "Aallright," he said shakily. "That was some serious s**t."

Caz, meanwhile, rested on her hands and knees, trying her best to recollect herself with gradually slowing gasps for air, still not releasing her death grip on the pipe she held. "I just knew something like this would happen," she mumbled. "I just knew it, I knew it, you know I knew it..."

Hoisting himself on an elbow, Ace looked to the fellow who'd just thoroughly saved his feline ass. "Thanks, pal," he offered sincerely with a friendly pat on Joe's shoulder. "I owe y'one." Caz was quick to follow, with some embarrassment. She was so into the scene itself, it took Ace's example for her to blurt a hasty "Thanks! Thank you, really. Thanks..."

"Um..."

"Soooo now what?"

"Hell if I know," Ace replied with a shake of his head. And in that shaking, he caught a good eyeful of a primate who really shouldn't have felt so familiar after all this time. There she was, Jam the monkey. It was as much proof as he needed. Rock was here, and his life was going in a circle. He forced back a smile at the sheer ridiculousness of coincidence, and managed only an inaudible chuckle ("Well I'm glad you find this so funny, Ace!") before shouting:

"JAM! ANY PLANS!?"

OOC: There have been various general questions about the look of certain things. To give a rough idea using some real photos, courtesy of good ol' Google Images...

Rock had no one left in the cab to talk to, and there was no way anybody could hear him, so he didn't bother complaining beyond a sputter of "no common sense," and a delayed, angry pound on the steering wheel. He had a lot more to say, no doubt, but... the world had a natural way of equalizing itself, he'd learned, and lessons were learned when they needed to be learned.

With his focus thoroughly on the road once more, he interestingly found that the robots weren't the things preventing him from getting where he needed to go, but instead the stalled-out, crashed traffic. The 'bots were more than happy to try to latch onto the sides of the truck, but not too keen of getting in front of it, leaving the blazing headlights to light the way down the ever-darkening road as he swerved and veered, trying to drive as smoothly as he could, but, also doing what was necessary to catch up, however rough it may have been.

Aaand... there it was. The truck was lined up side-by-side with the target.

Without the need for further prodding, when boarding time drew near, the electric monkey hopped up atop the cab just in time to avoid allowing Spine-stein to see her headshake and eyeroll. Staying as low as she could for stability and to make herself less of a wind wall, Jam's eyes trained unwaveringly onto her projected landing point, until addressed from behind. Without pausing to wonder why the vagrant cat seemed to know her as she should have, she merely spared a brief glance over her shoulder, and answered,

"For the moment?"

She sank into a lower crouch, as her shield flared up around her in a shower of sparks.

"It's 'don't die.'"

A well-timed, and deceptively powerful kick sent her soaring into the air; an impressive height to be sure, but not quite high enough to clear the ship's railing. The very second she should have begun her descent, another ephemeral flash of light exploded outward from her, and seemed to propel her the remainder of the distance up (and then some).

Hitting the deck with a rough clomp of her boots, she cast a fervent glance about the perimeter for hostiles, and beelined for the nearest door.

"How potent can those electrical powers of her's get, mate?" Poking his head into the cabin, he addressed her ivory accomplice. Her confidence kindled his own confidence for sure - she's seen this kind of stuff before like he has when he was once part of a resistance group, albeit many years ago. He kept his eyes peeled and his ears turned on for any signals, or better yet, fatal explosions on board the lumbering ship that would signal its hopeful demise. However, that's when he found it necessary to listen to the moose operative, smiling politely and saluting in respect, "Have those explosives on standby, mate! I'm hoping you're as suspicious about the 'ghostly' background of this ship as I am. Also, what type are they? C4? Any particular detonation vehicle or method? Just a throw and go kinda thing?"

"Yeah, sure," Joe said, just nodding in reply to the thanks. Anyone would have done the same, he figured.

Cross bashed some kind of odd monkey 'bot in the face before it could scramble onto their flatbed with the stock of his SMG, then glanced up to the friendlier primate on top of the cab. He still wasn't completely sure what the plan was (he hadn't been listening), but when he saw Jam take to the skies, he knew better than to let her face whatever the hell was waiting inside that monstrosity alone. The girl seemed to have some pretty cool capabilities, but it wouldn't do them any good if she got hurt or overwhelmed up there. Better safe than sorry.

"Joe, Sparky." He arced two of his fingers up to where she had gone.

The two robots slapped some fresh clips into their SMGs (they'd have been using their standard-issue scatterguns, but they'd run out of ammo for those long ago during the night's battles) and boomed up after her with a big dose of thruster power. Sparky thudded onto the deck just after her, and Joe almost did, but his foot caught on the side of the railing and he had a nice little wipeout next to them. "Oof."

In a nutshell, she had backup, and they skedaddled after her towards that same door.

Meanwhile, Killey watched them go, then looked back down at the porcupine next to him. He just kind of smirked or smiled or something--civvies never knew how to salute right, he thought. "It's C2. Usually used for breaching but depending on how much I use I could probably take a good chunk out of the moon. Gotta stick it to something and insert a detonator, then I can blow it with a remote."

Surprisingly, there wasn't that much resistance on the deck. The lifeboats had been removed, as had many of the fixtures, leaving the rear section of the ship upon which Jam and the CTs stood mostly barren. The boat's frontal guns just kept blazing and shooting in random directions, and overall, it seemed utterly unconcerned with its new passengers. A good sign? Maybe. The pursuing robots were not so complacent, however, and several of the aerialists (like the bats) began swooping at the boarding party. At the speed they were going, the flapping machines would probably destroy themselves along with whatever they hit, but... well, that didn't seem to matter too much to them.

Rock did not answer the blabbery porcupine; he just looked back through the window and screamed.

"HEY, ARE WE GONNA TALK ABOUT IT OVER F***IN' TEA TIME?! FIVE SECONDS, GO!!"

... And for good reason. There seemed to be a thirty car pile-up, still actively burning, right in their path. The boat would walk over it; they would not.

"Great! I'll take the explosives, then!" As Killey extracted the explosives and handed them to the jonesin' porcupine, Teck contorted his way out of his jacket once again and flung it inside the cabin alongside Rock, muttering heedlessly, "That's going to be nothing but a burden for the time being. 'Sides, it feels like I'm in a bloody oven as it is. Just do me a favor and keep it safe, that's my father's!"

"You can keep the remote and I'll signal you when to press it - if worse comes to worse, the monkey girl can activate them with an electric pulse, I presume? Even so, the explosives combined with her unique ability should seal the deal. Wish me luck - also, what's your name, by the way? Teckno Logico the porcupine, at your service!"

Teck didn't give Killey a chance to answer before sweeping his arms in a helix whilst squatting as if "drawing in" some sort of unknown energy. With the explosives in tow (he only took two packs - one per hand), he thus sprung sky high. "Ahhhlllyyoop!"

There was no turning back now. His vertical ascent thereby caused the truck to pass from under him - so his only transport was now gone. There was nowhere to go but the target, and so he landed with a light tap of the feet on board the port side of the ship. Teck took only a moment to assume his surroundings: no gun turrets aimed at him for the time being, no booby traps... just a reeeal bumpy ride.

Teck zipped his way along the deck, his outer protected from the rigid railing. Three doors passed him, but for some reason he picked the fourth one by a completely random impulse. Inches from touching the lever-style handle, he noticed an incoming duo of zombie batbots through the corner of his eye. Their ambush was too sudden for him to react discernibly, so he did all he could do - shielding his face in a flinch, they collided.

"Blaah, pilchers! Unhand me... or rather, UNWING ME!"

The end of his remark was affirmed brusquely with a pitch of the first batbot into the wall where it splattered into a shower of rusty debris (which naturally started to recollect toward the center - not that it mattered to him: time was more important, which he now had). The second one? Let's just say 2,000 lb-ft of ripping spinball torque was more than its sheet metal could sustain. The first one had already reached a point where the only thing missing was its eye, so he had scant time. Opening the door in an awkward frenzy, he slammed it shut!

"Bugger n' blast, where the 'ell did they come from!? I need to see an optometrist..."
