|
Updates Sonic Spindash RP is closed.Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.
It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

OOC: There is no excuse for having gone so long without posting. I should be setting an example, and here I am, one of the worst inactivity culprits. All I can do is apologize, and promise that I'll do better.
Even through all the back-and-forth chaos and confusion of the sudden addition of three people to a conversation previously housing two, it'd be hard to miss Latika's crestfallen face as she silently repeated, "Gone?" How could she not feel responsible in some (large) way? Who was it who'd said, "Ace can handle himself"? ...
It'd sure looked like he was doing okay, chucking explodey glowy robots and all, but even if she had stuck around, what could she have done? Carried the aggressor away? Even as shallow as her understanding of Tracer's capabilities were, she couldn't see that going well. At all. Nor did it help to ease her conscience any that Ace had been kind of a jerk to her ever since she and her villagemates had pulled him and his friends out of burning wreckage and nursed them back to health as best they were able to...
The long and short of it was that she felt responsible for Ace's abduction, and that compelled her to ignore introductions, Casey's private phonecall, and reason, all in one go, as, quite belatedly, after a disproportionate amount of silence on her part, the loris stepped forward, and clearly said, looking Geoff square in the eyes, "I agree we need to helping Ace."
"Don't know about details, why or how, or who, but not is relevant. We need at least try to get back."
Then, fidgeting sheepishly, she added, "And... Not appropriate time, I know, but... What name call for you? 'Green Sonic' have very irreverent sound."

In the midst of conversational commotion and recent kidnappings, Geoff really couldn't be bothered by Casey's sudden need of private time, giving the boar a questionable glance that didn't evolve into anything that brought upon an urge to pursue. Instead, his attention was brought to the agreement by the loris, the hedgehog on the edge to reply before her question was asked. The timing of it caught Geoff off guard, and despite the despair in the air of their acquaintance's abduction, the absurd timing actually managed to crack a smile on him.
"It's... it's Geoff," the hedgehog answered as he recovered, seeming surprised that she hadn't been given his name by now. Was it his fault? Perhaps. "...and thanks for the vote."
A small pause as he considered it, throwing her a look of concern.
"You sure you want to get caught up in all this? Ya barely know the guy. Heck, I barely know the guy."

Pulling herself together, Ember ruffled the feathers atop her head nervously. Go figure not long ago she was hoping to just get home and rest a bit before jumping in front of the train so to speak. That wasn't really an option anymore though.
"Well, I'm with hedgie. We've gotta go and get him back no matter what. Heck, maybe when we're done we can have a bonding moment or something."
Moving over to the out-of-place wolverine, she offered out a hand to her along with a smile.
"Well Ty-ra," the name pronounced with a heavy 'r', "What say you stick around a little longer and what not? Always a blast having another chick. Be like a sleepover! Only with more-er-action."

The rest of Casey's conversation didn't last long. It mostly broached matters of location, and mumblings of timing—whens and wheres for some uncertain plan. And then, it was abruptly over. His phone stowed once more, the burly hog rushed back to the mottled congregation of allies, stopped sharply, regarded them with a moment's hesitance ("Urrr..."), then blurted:
"I gotta go."
Knowing this would not be a satisfactory statement, he amended it quickly, explaining, "I think I know where your friend's bein' taken. It's a real dangerous place, though, so you folks can just... stay here, an', yeah. I'll go check it out."
He didn't sound entirely certain that what he was saying would be received the way he wanted.

Tyra had been busy wiping off as much of the chemical gunk off her clothes and hair as she could when she was approached again. She stared at Ember with a raised brow and a bemused look. The bird was energetic, at least. "Uhh, yeah," she mumbled as she reached out to accept her handshake, though she obviously wasn't as peppy as the other half. "I was...plannin' on stickin' around anyway--I mean, yeah, sure, I'll go along." She wasn't going to make note of the sleep-over comparison.
Then Casey began to speak, and suddenly, the wolverine's full skeptical attention. "Hey, wait a sec," she objected loudly, breaking off her short-lived conversation with Ember to approach him, "how do you know where they ran off to? I've been kickin' around this city for, like, two weeks and I haven't found anything!" She looked and sounded more irritated than anything else at how the hog had suddenly produced such a plain-spoken answer--one that she was very interested in finding, herself.

If Geoff had been waiting on some sort of reply from Latika, any attention given was soon diverted to Casey's announcement. Already he was starting with a disagreement that was forming with the starting of a hasty "whoa whoa whoa" before the new dog of the group put in her two cents. A thought of who this person was or even where they came from so suddenly (not to mention actually speaking fluent English) was quickly snuffed when he returned his gaze to the boar.
"Was just about to say the same, Casey," began the hedgehog with growing suspicion that he hadn't felt for the hog until this very point. "What's with the sudden info? Ya sure haven't given us the impression you're knowledgeable on mobs of all things."

Latika frowned as Casey came to take his leave, but ultimately offered none of the same suspicion as her impromptu comrades. She seemed to consider it in silence a moment, then stepped between the wolverine and hedgehog and the boar they contested.
"Casey not untrustworthy person," she said firmly. "He help you all, when you strangers to him -- except you I don't know," she added hastily, nodding to Tyra. "But if Casey think he go scout is best, we should let him."
It was a long shot that even she didn't know what she was saying; her resolve certainly looked solid enough...

Casey furrowed his brows at the flurry of commentary as he sidled toward the stairwell door. Ultimately, he appreciated Latika's vote of confidence... however terribly wrong she may have been about his intentions. (He was not scouting; he was doing.)
"Thank you, Latika," he said with a sort of stilted hesitance as he glanced back toward Tyra, "but, yeah, I wish I could answer, but... it's just... a matter of having the right contacts."
Even he didn't seem entirely convinced by what he was saying. Either Casey was a very good liar or a very bad one, because he certainly hadn't let on about much of anything up until this point, but he didn't seem to be covering himself very well, either.
"I've been in this region for a while, so, y'know, you get to know some people," he explained weakly.
Without further explanation, he reached the door, opened it, and made way to leave. He wasn't exactly the fastest guy on the block, though, so he wouldn't be able to do a whole lot about it if anyone did follow him. Either way, he was on his way down the stairs, to the elevator, and outta there.

The explanation didn't assuage the wolverine's irritation, but she did seem to at least quiet down... for a moment. As soon as it was clear that Casey was leaving, she started for the stairs herself, side-stepping the loris in front of her. "I'm comin' with," she said to him; it sounded like a flat, plain statement. She wasn't wasting time, as she quickly descended the stairs to catch up with the hog. She didn't elaborate any further on her comment, just silence and a glowering face that clearly said she didn't want to argue about it.

As the numbers on the rooftop began to dwindle and with Casey's weak reasoning not even putting a dent in Geoff's resolve, the hedgehog already was taking the first few steps to follow the path of boar and dog. However, he paused, looking back to Latika, noting what she had just said seconds earlier. It didn't feel necessarily right to throw her judgement away just like that, knowing, out of the entire group, she was the one most associated with the hog.
"Sorry, but..." he began, at a loss with words. "...well, he shouldn't be trying to do this alone, should he?"
With one last apologetic glance, he vanished into the stairwell as well, soon in line for the trek down.

Latika frowned as one by one her compatriots left her standing at the foot of the helipad with her hands on her hips.
"You know," the loris breathed, questionably to herself, as she stared after the hedgehog and wolverine, her chin jutting out.
"If Mr. Casey not involved, I maybe would think it better to just separate ways here."
With that, she walked briskly to the edge of the building, seemingly unaware of the stinging cold as she set one sandaled foot atop the ledge, and peered down its side.
"But ... is moot. Only thing now to do is stick to plan."
With that, and a succinct backwards hop, she vanished from the rooftop.

Watching the group split up, Ember paused unsure on what to do. Basically, following them would be the best option. Firstly though, she had to do something.
As she turned to Latika, she became aware that the loris had hopped off the roof.
"Well okay then", she muttered as she approached the edge and peered down. She doubted the girl had jumped off without a plan in mind. Or least some way not to end up flat on the pavement. Searching around, she called out for her.
"Latika?"

Later that night...
*Bzzt.*
The elevator door slid open. A heavy, black, flat-soled boot thudded out onto the shiny, concrete floor.
Everyone had long left to chase off after Ace. Fires had been put out, patients had gone back to sleep, and some big, chubby Egg Pawns (Or were they Chimera Pawns now?) had taken up the task of slowly scrubbing the floor with big, industrial-looking brushes on long, metal poles.
Skiff. Shhoosh. Skiff. Shoosh, went the repetitive noise in the utter silence of the wrecked hospital cafeteria.
The stark, fluorescent lighting cast faint shadows in haywire directions. One fell alongside a Pawn; it turned and looked over its shoulder with mild interest at the arrival from the elevator. It then stood rigidly straight and saluted, inadvertently throwing the handle of its scrubber through the nearby glass window with the gesture. Glass rained down on the street below and the remainder of the safety glass, crumbling and sagging, hung crookedly above.
...
The pane fell inward, struck the robot across the head, and reduced to little glass cubelets all across the floor. The Egg Pawn didn't even seem to notice.
Rock stopped next to the robot, unresponsive to its antics. The focused-looking white primate knelt next to the mess of gunk left over from the fight earlier in the day; quietly observant, he ran two fingers through the mess. Tracer's sticky-foam stretched between his index, middle finger, and thumb. It was fairly stubborn even after sitting so long.
He sniffed the air a couple times and looked at one of the robots. It was holding a plastic jug in its non-saluting hand.
"What are you using as a solvent?" he asked.
"Uhhnnn."
The brilliant robot looked around, looked at the floor, then raised the jug in its hand and shook it around, inadvertently making it all that much harder to read.
Rock stood, wiped some flame-retardant foam off his dark blue shorts, and squinted. The bottle's label read "acetone." He stepped over, seized it with no great concern for politeness or gentility, and rinsed his glove with it. Sure enough, Tracer's foam melted away, and was replaced with the remembrance of a couple semesters' worth of boring chemistry classes.
"Polar," he mumbled under his breath as he foist the jug back into the robot's grasp, and turned, gazing around the room as if searching. After a few seconds, he looked back and asked, "Which room was Ace in?"
"Uhhnnn."
Rock frowned. When he looked ahead again, though, he noticed a trail of what looked like some sort of crusted, slimy footprints. "Never mind," he sighed, and followed the trail to Ace's former room, where, sure enough, he found Ace's clothing, still lying in a little stack on the bed.
He gently picked it up. There was a Bolt Boar shirt, something sentimental to Ace, now very bloodstained; a well-worn pair of jeans; a pair of boots sitting to the side... All Ace's favorite clothes.
"So that's where it went."
Rock plucked his black hoodie from the selection and unceremoniously dumped Ace's stuff on the floor, uninterested. He wandered out of the room, down the hall, and back to the waiting elevator.
"Got it all blood-stained..."
The buzzer sounded and the elevator door closed.
