It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

Now, in Geoff's eyes, he really couldn't latch onto a set reason why the still-a-mystery-species fellow was bringing a storm of rage onto him, nor what had been the initial trigger for such contempt. He remembered the guy from the train, but other than that, it was out of the hedgehog's reach to really guess why—

It suddenly clicked for him as he dove for another AC unit. A groan of regret resonated from Geoff then as the memory came flooding back, shaking his head as he put his back flat against his new cover. The bear. The freaking bear he inadvertently knocked off the train. Or was it really that unintended? He'd attacked when his target's back was turned, starting the flurry of events that would eventually end up with the bear disappearing past the depths of a cliff. The regret clenched in his chest a bit harder.

Karma was cruel.

"Look, I didn't mean—" BZZT went another block of machinery, Geoff forced to go on the move again. "I didn't mean for that to happen!"

Slamming into someone at a high-speed, spinning velocity on top of an unstable, ice covered, windy train? The hedgehog's side of judgement wasn't holding up well, and he knew it.

"Do you think I enjoyed doin' that?!" said Geoff as he continued to shout. "I %$*#ed up! I'll give ya that!"

All that regret and drama, and vengeance and violence would have to wait, if only it would be so kind, for with a haste few, if any had ever seen of the loris, Latika burst forth from one of the many stair access doors, with sufficient noise to suit her panic.

"Mr. Casey or someone help!" she hollered into the night, with a chilled puff of air.Her eyes hadn't even found everyone on the roof she sought, let alone made sense of what was going on, before she extrapolated in a rush, "Mako poisoned, and Ace and phoenix girl fighting large metal soldier! Need help qui--!"

And it was then, and only then, after taking a good look around, that she noticed Ace, Ember, Mako, and their mysterious ally were not the only ones who needed help. The last horse... well, you know.

Latika's shouting still went unnoticed, or at least unheeded, by the berserker with the beam cannon.

"What, now you remember, huh?" blurted the flying mammal (with another shot fired). His pheasant accompaniment was approaching his side, but seemed hesitant to intervene yet. "And you didn't mean for it to happen?! You didn't mean to attack me too and keep me from helping him in time?!"

*Blam, blam* went the cannon.

"This isn't gonna get what we're here for, Lang," said the bird with quiet urgency.

"It doesn't matter anymore!" he shouted back, still pursuing Geoff with his sights. "We wanted it to stop Eggman and Eggman's been stopped."

"Yeah, but now, Li Fang..."

(Right around that time, Dian was also departing, rifle held overhead as he zipped down the line and away.)

"So what!" barked Lang in reply to his comrade, finally outright looking at him. It was a moment of distraction. "Don't you get it yet? Li Fang's just a crook. What'll he do, rob a bank with it? What are we supposed to do?! Wade's dead! There's no cops to call here! Nobody's gonna do anything about it except US! This guy is the REASON Li Fang has the mirror!"

His avian friend seemed at a loss for anything else to argue against that point, but "us" may have been the wrong choice of words. He still wasn't moved to help in any way, and instead looked... intensely uncomfortable. Yes, this was the same guy who had been very sullen toward the group aboard the train, but even still, he wasn't ready to bust out the noose... but nor was he ready to stop the guy who was.

There it was, the moment of opportunity. The green one with the cannon had his head turned, his attention somewhere else as he tried to hammer down his point with his colleague, and, to no surprise, Geoff was emerging from his (yet again) new cover. Gravel shifted beneath his feet as he took a few steps forward, but what could have been assumed to form into a headstrong charge only petered into a standstill. He was now in the wide open with a very angry mammal pointing a weapon at him with every intent to kill. Yet he stood there, looking oddly defeated.

"Hey, look," said the hedgehog, his voice sounding... disheartened. "I'm not all too proud with myself, alright? It was confusing on that train. Didn't know who was who or what was right, and I acted too fast. It was my fault. I'm the idiot. And it isn't like I walked away with an unburdened mind..." His voice dwindled off into some silent contemplation, but for the most part, Geoff's words sounded fully genuine.

And then, out of nowhere...

"There was this kid, ya know? Little brat that I hated the ever-lovin' $%@& out of. Tried to kill me... tried to kill a lot of us. Many times." A deep sigh. "And you know what I felt when I saw him dead on the ground? Nothin'. Nada. Not even a bit happy. Hell, I can't believe it myself, but I'm almost a little ashamed for being involved." His shoulders raised in a confused manner, then fell. "I like to tell myself I'm one of the good guys, that I'm actually doin' something right for the world, even with all the crap I get dragged into. I guess I'm a kind of guy with the ability to do so... But I guess I just got proved wrong, eh?"

Geoff raised his arms to his sides at a slight angle, palms out and beckoning.

"Go ahead. I deserve it."

There was a twitch and a jump and a start and a minor meltdown that almost happened right there as both the gunman and his friend jolted at Geoff's charge. And, the stop... caught them off guard.

Lang was aiming. He was listening. He didn't look like he wanted to listen at first, but he did anyway. He looked increasingly tense the longer the hedgehog spoke, and then, once the guy was done... there wasn't the release that would have been expected, nor the gunshot.

Lang stepped forward and aimed closer. He gritted his teeth and steeled himself. But he wasn't satisfied, wasn't close enough. He took another step forward. And another. He was just feet away, point blank range.

His teeth gritted. The sights were right between Geoff's eyes. A gurgling kind of guttural growl came deep in his stomach; it turned into a roaring shout of frustration as he just turned away.

Whoop, surprise. He shuffled back, kicking up gravel as he violently turned again, aimed again, and fired.

The shot flew wild over Geoff's head.

Two, three, four, even five more shots went off, obliterating AC units and pelting the support structure of the helipad. He suddenly stormed off, stomping briskly to where Dian had just zipped away seconds before.

The zipline hung limp; it had been disconnected from the other side.

The pheasant looked between Geoff and his partner, then bolted to catch up with the latter. He leered at him for a moment; Lang said nothing to him, but just jumped off the side of the building, fanned out his arms and legs, and soared off toward the other building in much-belated pursuit.

The bird watched him fly off in silence. He didn't yet follow, but instead looked warily back at Geoff.

Geoff didn't move when the green one came closer. He didn't move when he was given the tense moment of looking down the barrel of cannon. Nor did he move when the first shot was fired close enough to feel the energy crackle past and shift the air. He didn't even budge when Lang went berserk with his firing, not even showing a flinch when the multiple explosions rang through the air. He was as sturdy and stoic as a stone pillar, a reflection of his own CE infused abilities.

Finally, when the gliding-capable mammal passed by without bringing harm to him, Geoff relaxed, shoulders slumping and muscles losing their tension. His heart was revving at a steady thousand miles per hour, gratefully beginning to slow as he gradually turned toward the way the two partners had dashed off too. Fortunately, his newly made enemy was gone, but the pheasant remained.

Geoff offered him a relieved, yet apologetic look.

"...I can help, if you need it," he offered, effectively going against all previous statements of wanting to stay a pole's length away from any more misadventures.

Casey had meanwhile limped and grunted his way near Geoff. When Latika came out moments before, though, he instead made his awkward pain-waddle toward her to find out what was going on.

There was a lot more going on in Casey's head than just grunting and hobbling, mind you. He hadn't even hurt his leg—it was just the stiffness of absolutely pummeling his back on that gravel. Even that was beginning to fade with that infernal mirror gone. Instead, it was that he was anxious to... get away from Geoff's situation. He felt some obligation both to do something, but also just to keep his distance. Any trouble that Latika brought was "something else," and something else was infinitely more desirable, especially if it was actually important. And... Mako being poisoned, and Ace fighting a robot definitely ranked up there.

"Latika, wha're you talkin' about," he huffed and puffed, straightening up.

It was hard not to find herself both very distracted and very concerned by the Geoff-and-his-new-BFF situation, but was at least relatively sure things would be okay once the crazy, yelling shooting man went away.

Didn't keep her from staring nosily, though. It was actually Casey, hobbling rigidly toward her that reminded her of why she'd come.

"Tank woman!" Latika exclaimed with a gasp, seizing hold of the boar's nearest log of an arm, and pulling him urgently back toward the stairwell. "Mako poison but okay; I put in closet. Ace and Firebird in trouble with sturdy ally in cafeteria! All fighting strong robot with advance equipment! You must come!"

The pheasant stared kind of glumly at Geoff for a few seconds.

"... It'd probably be better if you didn't," he answered quietly.

Right about then, a great number more things to deal with came barreling through in the form of Latika and something very pressing happening downstairs. If Geoff happened to glance at the commotion, he'd find the bird gone when he looked back.

The bird burst through door and that mission was halted for a moment at the sight of the wreckage that was once a roof. The wolverine was behind, she could hear the heavy footsteps, but it most likely wouldn't matter. Slipping past the rest, she took off to the edge of the roof and frantically searched for any sign.

There seemed to be none. Not even a glimpse of yellow fur.

Feeling her gut drop, she stepped away from the edge. Ace was gone. She couldn't even hold back one person for even a few moments. Some friend she could be considered. Kicking a piece of rubble, she turned back to the group and approached them.

"Well okay," her voice cracked for a moment before going on, "Ace is um, gone. Seems they liked him enough to 'borrow' him. I-"

She stopped for a moment and glanced around warily.

"Actually, what happened here?"

"Why're runnin' up like ten flights of friggin' stairs?! Why the roof?!"

The bird's follower was a complaining one, and also quite loud, her voice clearly echoing up the stairwell and out the door. Her last complaint was quickly followed by her physical self appearing in the doorway. "That crazy damn thing had damn rockets or something, you know it's long--" She quickly cut herself off and froze in place as she saw the big mess of energy burns and smashed up AC units in front of her, along with the big load of people standing around.

"...Uhhh..." she oh-so-eloquently droned, at an apparent loss for words; or, at least, words appropriate for the circumstances. The fact that she hadn't stopped to wipe off all the white fire suppressant probably wasn't making the situation any better.

By the time Ember and Tyra caught up, chances were that Casey had been forced to make Latika repeat herself at least once for... integrity of communication, one might say. That is, to make sure she was indeed using the right words and seriously meant that Mako had been poisoned and hidden in a closet, and Ace and Ember were fighting a "tank woman."

Mind you, it was not that this was improbable. Not at all. Not only had Casey gotten a sense of the fact that this was just the kind of group that such things happened to with alarming regularity, but he'd seen some crazy crap in his time, too. It was just that it was bad. It was just when he did decide to go barging off for the stairs to take care of business himself that the stairwell door burst open again with, yes, Ember and Tyra, bringing news most foul.

"Gone?" blurted Casey loudly, simultaneously echoing Ember and accidentally finishing Tyra's sentence for her. An astute individual might see that he seemed particularly put out by this, bent out of shape, nearly, even though he hadn't shown any particular signs of taking a shine to Ace prior. He turned and looked around urgently, then started to reach for something on his belt, but stopped short, and stared off toward the stairwell with eyes wide like his mind was racing.

"Do we have any idea what the heck's goin' on or why?" he asked the group at large, urgently. "Those guys said it was Li Fang's men. Why'd some crime boss wanna come bust us up and swipe Ace, of all people?"

Pause. Before anyone could get a full answer out, he looked most pointedly (and confusedly) at Tyra.

"And who 're you?"

Oh, the confusion. There were so many things happening.

"Don't you think it's 'cause we nearly messed things up for 'em on the train?" suggested Geoff.

With the pheasant having conveniently disappeared, the hedgehog had been barely given a moment to contemplate the recent turn of events (and the near miss of having his head almost blasted into oblivion) before utter commotion in the form of loris, bird, and dog came into their presence. The dump of information was quick and choppy, but the message was clear. A look of concern about hearing the news of Ace's apparent kidnapping was still evident on Geoff's features as he looked between everyone present, eyes lingering on the stranger for a brief moment.

"Not going to be stereotypin'... mob bosses or whatever, but I doubt any head guy of some group is going to be all that thrilled to have a bunch of nobodies like us screwin' with their plan. Even if they did come out on top in the end."

Cue a moment of frustration as he glanced impatiently to the direction their attackers had vanished off to, forming a slight glare that didn't manage to threaten much in the large expanse of night air.

"...we have to get him back, though. That's for sure. He went through hell and high water with us earlier, and I ain't leavin' him behind now."

Casey had a certain way about him that was transparent, maybe even easy to read. As Geoff spoke, skepticism curled his brows down and twisted his mouth; without speaking, his face clearly said he thought there had to be more to it, or that he just plain wasn't satisfied with that answer, or maybe even that he already had some unshared insight.

Before there could be any more discussion of the matter, he suddenly blurted, "Nevermind, I gotta— I gotta take care of somethin' right now."

He turned and huffed off, hiking his pants up (it seemed to be a problem for him) and trundling off somewhere around the other side of the helipad. "I'll be back!" he called back.

If he was followed too obviously, he'd probably confront his follower with an irritated look and a request for privacy (unless it was one of the girls, in which case he'd be a little nicer, as he was just... old-fashioned like that). If one were to trail him a little more stealthily, and with some discretion, however, they'd hear the beginning of a conversation, as he pulled out his phone (Egg Mobile, of course, as if there was any other option on the market yet), dialed, and addressed a mystery-party on the other end.

"S'Casey," he whispered, albeit loudly, trying to talk over the rooftop winds cutting into the receiver.

...

"Big big big problem. Mr. Yellow done got grabbed."

It was becoming difficult to hear. He was hunching forward and cupping the phone.

"Yep. ... Mirror was here too."

The conversation descended into mumbling. His voice raised again, though.

"You can't possibly expect me to do that alone! No-no-no way, no how, buddy, I ain't— what? ... With this bunch? No. N-O no, not gonna happen. You send somebody. ... Don't care. ... Don't. Care! I'm done, then. ... ... Yeah, I mean it. ... ... ... Yeah? Alright, well, if you send somebody. I ain't suicidal. ... ... Alright. ... ... ... Alright. ... Yeah, you give me support, I'm still on."

"...Uh, I'm...I'm Tyra," was all the wolverine responded with when asked. Before she could elaborate any further, Geoff started talking, leaving her to just quietly stand there. The air was growing awkward; she was surrounded by people she didn't know who were discussing a serious problem that wasn't really her own. But she couldn't just turn and leave now.

Tyra moved out of the doorway as Casey went off to do whatever he was doing. She wasn't really paying attention to much, due to the strange circumstances. She just propped herself up against the concrete wall of the stairway access with her arms crossed. All she could really do is sit back and listen; it's not like she could just start asking a flurry of her own questions. They seemed preoccupied anyway, not in much of a mood to listen. She'd have to do this as smart as she could.

But she thought she was being smart earlier. Now here she was, stuck on a Chun-Nan hospital roof at night with a bunch of people she didn't know, after failing to save one guy from a crazy llama tank. Yeah, this wasn't a stupid day at all.
