Sonic Spindash RP is closed.

It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

The jackal huffed an appreciative laugh out his nose at the display. When asked for information, he glanced off toward the empty stage.

"Well, my name's Midian," he began with the air of one at an AA meeting. "I'm from Mazuri. If you... can't already tell." Mazuri Wildlife Conservation Authority was printed prominently on the patch on his shirt. Plus, there was the inescapable accent. It may have been an obvious thing to say, but he just shrugged.

"I'm sort of a traveler... Was, anyway. Tried to settle down a few years ago back home, as a constable... Wasn't for me. Quit the police department, got myself a steady job." He tapped the aforementioned emblematic patch. "Went well a few years, then come the Eggman, an' lo, here I am traveling again."

“Then come the Eggman, huh.”

“Now there’s the understatement of the century.”

“Someone’s gotta kill that guy. There’s no way he can think he can keep doing this forever, but he sure doesn’t show it."

"I don't reckon it's anyone's place ta be puttin' a man down." came a voice from behind the massive bird.

Sheriff of Yellow Desert smiled at him from behind as she set a hand on his shoulder. Her attired differed from her normal cowgirl flair to be more of the red and black variety Eggman was so in love with. though she tried to tuck the garish unifrom under her coat, it was hard to miss in a place that was a haven for ones such at the eagle and his new found friend.

"Sorry, didn't mean ta eavesdrop, just wanted ta say hello again, It's nice seein' a familiar face. But uh-If I may, as evil as he is, killin' him might not solve our problem. I would be shocked if he didn't have a backup plan fer that too."

“Oh, I—wh,”

Coop turned around. He stood up, bumping into the table as he did so and causing Midian’s plate to jump a fraction of a centimetre to the left.

He stared at the gryphon for a moment as if he was looking at a walking corpse.

“Wh—,” he said. Then.

“Hey, it’s you!”

A kind of a kludgy, awkward half-grin appeared on his face.

“Hey, what—wow, what are you doing here?"

Jack laughed a bit giving the bird space enough to stand up. "Same as you. Laying low, and looking for a chance to sucker punch Eggman's operations."

"I was one of the lucky ones, I gotta new boss but got to stay 'Sheriff Jack'. But... you know how it is." She said with a shrug. She didn't need to tell him about the complications involved in now working for Eggman and at the same time trying to take his legs out from under him. "Luckily I'm mostly a peon to the big guy so I get plenty of opportunity to get rowdy."

Coop stared at her.

“Huh,” he finally said. He rubbed his head.

“Isn’t that something.”

He slowly sat down again, and sighed.

“Killing him might not solve our problem, huh? Yeah, I guess there’s probably an army of robot Eggmans underneath Pumpkin Hill somewhere, but if that fat slob doesn’t clean up his act really soon, he’s not going to have a world left to take over."

"Well, when that happens, he'll probably set claim on the moon."

And so suddenly there was a green hedgehog in their midst.

Having trailed behind the group for a majority of their escape (a pile of used crystal his only remnant near the destroyed building), Geoff had wandered off on his own through the club. He needed no medical attention, even if his shoulder still stung, but he still had another priority that suddenly became apparent after their couple days of "rebelling". Said priority had only forced himself to find a familiar face again.

"Anyway," he began, standing at the edge of the table, eyes darting between Midian and Coop. "Any of you got cash? Like, the 'proper' cash. Tried using the stuff I had on me to get some food, but apparently its use—"

He paused, abruptly realizing Jack's presence right beside him. The hedgehog's face lit with an expression of surprise, then to puzzlement upon seeing the red and black uniform. Thinking otherwise of what affiliation she now had after remembering the others donning familiar clothing, he showed a small grin.

"Sheriff," he greeted with a slight nod. "Wasn't expecting you to be here."

Wherever Rodolf had gone was anybody's guess-- he had slunk off without notice, slipping away from the hustle and bustle-- as best he could, at least.

What was not without notice, however, was Mako's sudden spring to life at notice of the sheriff. The throbbing in his bleeding tail and the ache weren't, he figured, enough to put him out just yet, and thus he had idly hovered around, until...

"Hey, you didn't die!" Well, ever the optimistic one, the shark was. "... nice duds," he added after a moment of thought, but hey-- a familiar, friendly face was a familiar, friendly face, no matter how questionable their taste in day attire.
He paused, then, and looked at the eagle, the jackal, and the hedgehog. "... not to interrupt or anythin'," he added quickly, a bit sheepishly.

Midian didn't have any clue who Jack was, nor did he know the hedgehog or shark all that well beyond passing acquaintance.

He had some more whiskey and kept eating.

To complete the small smattering arrived a newcomer. Depsite having splotches of soot on her clothing and smelling like brunt cheese, she look positively cheerful. Quickly spying the exact person she wanted to see, she took herself right on over.

"Jacky! Hey there you are!", she greeted with a hardy pat on the shoulder, "Man, its been forever and a day blah blah."

Placing hands upon her hips, she surveyed the people she had just rudely interrupted. Coop sparked a memory but the rest were blurry. She was sure she had seen some of them before.

Blinking in near surprise at Coop, she gave a laugh. "Woah man its you! Jeez you just pop up everywhere like a bug or something. Only not squishable or anything."

Sniggering at her own little joke, she finally asked the main question in her list.

"So what's with the party? Something going on?"

The lights flickered and the music track skipped. Up the stairs from the dance floor, beyond the terraced levels of tables and booths and toward the front of the club there came elevated, angry-sounding voices. The muffled shouts came from the entrance corridor, the dark, porthole-windowed doors of which were closed off, revealing little about what was happening on the other side.

There was a long pause of nothing. Things continued as normal, and all who turned their heads went back to what they were doing. If what Otto had said earlier was true, the occasional uninvited guest was nothing unusual, and usually dealt with quickly.

But then: more yelling and flickering. Suddenly, a resonating boom, like a truck running into the wall. The fork on Midian's plate rattled.

The doors at the club's entrance burst open with dual, resounding bangs. A huge bouncer, a gorilla, tumbled through them, landed on his face, and rolled, completely unconscious, like some sort of big, floppy doll down the stairs, banging off the brushed steel railing halfway down to the dance floor. Bizarre lighting, like continuous camera flashes, starkly lit a slow-swaggering silhouette from behind.

The music continued to thump. The entering group stopped just inside; a panning light revealed red uniforms, but the otherwise low lighting revealed little. After a several-second delay, a group of club-goers near the doors charged whoever was coming in. The uproarious shouting of a scuffle, underpinned by the dull, flat thuds of fists and boots against bodies, mixed chaotically with the four-in-the-floor dance-beat music. The would-be do-gooders soon found themselves in the same boat as the bouncers, alternatively launched across tables, thrown down stairs, just plain dropped to the floor unconscious where they once stood by a punch or stun baton blow, or lit up and scorched with snapping, sparking blasts of electricity.

Bystanders soon stopped trying to do anything about the unwanted visitors. The sounds of the city streets came in as many started discreetly making for the side emergency exits. The music stopped, and silence fell at once.

The house lights came up.

The foremost figure's red Eggman Army jumpsuit was worn half on as a pair of pants, the upper half hanging from around his belt, caution-striped sleeves tied in a knot at the waist. He was pretty unmistakable, with stark-white fur, glinting dogtags, and unsettling, mismatched eyes that roved the room with a laser-beam intensity stare.

He tipped his stun baton back and lulled it across his shoulder, and surveyed the room like he owned it—or at least like he was daring anyone else to try to tell him he couldn't. His eyes glanced off of Coop, Jack, Geoff, and others, before locking onto Ace.

Rock smiled.

Sincere or not, it almost never looked quite right when he smiled like that.

Coop stood up.

He stared at Rock.

“Let’s get out of here,” he muttered to the people in the group nearby, “I’m gonna burn this place to the ground."

Awkward banter and first aid scratched to a halt much like the music, as Tabitha leapt alarmed to her feet, staring anxiously toward the commotion. Her metal tray and all its spoils clattered dramatically onto the floor, as she flinched toward her company, seizing hold of a convenient arm . Her ears laid back against her head, and other than her slightly puffier-than-usual low-lashing tail, stood tensely statuesque.

Jam was nowhere near as focused as her white counterpart. Rather, she trailed in at his flank looking like a rather bored mess of red, with a length of faintly smoking chain flung over her shoulder and an ebbing aura of sparks around her person. She took in the room with a single long sweep of her vividly green eyes, and looked for just a moment as though she might have been counting, but must not have been impressed, as she concluded with a yawn.

Rather ineffectually, she absently scratched at the side of her jaw with her gargantuan grey work mitts, before hanging her thumbs off her old black belt. The monkey's gaudy, black and white Egg-issued boots scuffed against the floors as she took one more step forward. She said nothing, but rolled her eyes with a certain air of weariness as she recognized a couple of the occupants.

OOC: Edited with a vengeance for better flow. Prease reread.

'You'll know when somebody unwelcome tries to come in.'

Boy, was he ever not kidding. Before Ace could fulfill his patiently duties and strip, his long ears sprung up and swiveled instinctively, and his heart was already racing in light of the possibilities. Unwelcome guests in a nightclub. Sure sounded like something he wouldn't be unfamiliar with.

Even with his famous eagle eyes, the serval couldn't quite tell what all the hustle and bustle was about behind the crowd, both of the fleeting and non- variety. Without even moving his head, he glanced in Tabby's direction, uttering "Maybe next time, huh?" to her in a hushed whisper before standing up for a better view.

It didn't take long for his eyes to meet Rock's. They stayed that way for a long time, with little darts left and right, catching Jam as well as his immediate surroundings if a need to know them became apparent. There was a long, painful silence that hit Ace like a fist to the gut-- be he stood his ground.

"Oh-- oooh, gosh," came a new voice-- this one from behind the two primates. Caz lifted her legs and daintily tiptoed through the field of unconscious and otherwise immobile bodies as if they were cracks on a sidewalk. "I can't believe this is legal..."

Surely, she must have been focusing on the destruction left behind her, because it was only when she'd finally stepped up to the primates' sides that she caught sight of what-- and more importantly, who was in front of her. Contrast to Rock and Jam, she completely failed to maintain her composure, and went straight to mole-in-the-headlights mode.

Who'd have guessed, Ace felt a little something like that too. In fact, he almost dropped everything and ran to her, but stopped short of budging. Why was she in an Eggman uniform? Why was she backing Rock and Jam, everyone's favorite defectives? Why was Rock smiling at him about all this? Really, it was the last part that kept him from breaking his posture-- the possibility that Rock knew something he didn't. His fists balled, and his stance stiffened rather unsubtly.

"Caz...!" he breathed harshly, but hushed, as if he were afraid of breaking the silence.

"...Who-- w-whuh...?" The mole's head rapidly switched between Ace, Ace's new friend, and her co-workers in search of answers, with the same confused, curled up brows on her face for each. None of them seemed to have any.
