It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

Rodolf, meanwhile, merely watched his step as he all but tiptoed around the shells scattered on the floor as he stepped up beside Sheffer alongside the fused-shut door. He placed one four-digit-ed hand on it, trying to find anything that'd help discern anything helpful from it. He seemed to be in no rush at all-- if he was unnerved at all by the quite honestly eerie atmosphere of the ship, he at least wasn't letting it show through.

One side of his mouth pulled back in a curious sort of look, looking up and down at the door. "As long as we're here," he said, taking a step back from the door and turning to face his, ah, crew, "we may as well investigate what's at hand." And at that statement, somewhat paradoxically, he procured a tuba from thin air and proceeded to play a haunting refrain thereupon turned and walked to the other side of the room.
"I'd get out of the way."

And providing everyone in the vicinity did, in fact, clear away from the door, the unicorn took one last look at the welded-shut hunk of metal in front of him and put his head down. After an additional moment, he charged, head-first (or, quite possibly horn first, but the point remained), towards the door.

Meet Rodolf, the living battering ram, kids.

There was an ear-riveting GRANCH from the door as the Unicorn's horn punched through it and out the other side, and the melted slag holding its face together—brittle and ill-hardened—split up the middle. Shavings of metal and flecks of spalling drifted down to the floor, and the door warped inwards about a foot, bending open into a shape like a giant, vertical mouth. Light shone into the dark hallway beyond.

In the ensuing silence, one of the doors—bent so far out of shape that it had pulled off its track—fell over, into the blackness. A clang resounded through the halls of the ship, fading away from discernible echoes into a background rush of noise, like distant breathing.

The hallway beyond stretched from the violently opened door back to the stern. It was black, but in a few moments, the lights would blink coolly on to reveal… escape pods.

There had been escape pods, at least. They had all been jettisoned, presumably ages ago. The lights flickered gently, matching the rhythmless pulse of the lights in the atrium the group had been occupying.

At the far end of the hall was a black, huddled shape.

It was a skeleton. It had been there for years, and — in the dry, bacteria-free environment of the ship, it had been mummified. It was a human being, wearing a jumpsuit, a helmet, and a bullet-proof vest. It huddled against the far wall, clutching an assault rifle in its hands like a teddy-bear. Its face had been locked in a grimace of pain or grief when it had died, and that was the way it had stayed.

"Nice."

Wild Badge commented on the method that Rodolf chose to open the door ahead of them. He made his way into the hall, looking around. It was then that he nosed the huddled mass of black. He walked over to investigate.

And immediately regretted it. As he crouched to examine it, he immediately jumped back a couple steps. "Eheh.. Well, that's ominous..." He glanced back at the others.

"If we can find the captain's quarters, me might find logs about what happened here..." He said. It wasn't a certain thing, but it was an idea, anyways.

Sheffer was soon to follow the others into the hall, skirting around the slab of fallen door to go investigate around like Badge. He too quickly realized what the huddled figure was at the far wall, his lips curving down as he remembered his past statement.

"What did I say...?" he muttered under his breath, hastily taking his eyes away from the corpse and looking at the empty slots where the capsules of escape used to rest. At least they had their own ship, but if something were to occur to that, they were trapped here otherwise.

"Alright, so the $%@& hit the fan, and they escaped," he stated to no one in particular, but his eyes were soon on Badge. "But yeah, guess we should figure out what gave them the incentive to do so in the first place. Debating if I really want to know the answer..."

OOC: Hurp, I'm back. Here's a big fat post to make up for my absence.

Upon the implication of Rodolf's battering-plan, Ace's brows had at first cocked in cynical curiosity, but soon enough peaked in pleasant surprised-ness come the results. Though he had no idea why anyone would glue a horn to their forehead, he nonetheless had doubts of the credibility of the man's status as 'Unicorn'... that seemed laid to rest quickly enough. He almost seemed to lower his guard, nodding in approval, but quickly stiffened up the moment he saw the poor soul in the back of the room. Or what was left of it.

Unlike the hedgehog, Ace's eyes were dead-set on the grim-looking space mummy, and he gave a hard-edged "Pfeh" at his summarization. "Yeah, everyone but this guy," he mumbled, edging his way closer and closer. "And who knows how many others..." Truth be told, Ace was already somewhat (if irrationally) irked with Sheff for merely stating they had nothing to worry about on docking, as the serval had seen far too many horror movies not to attribute that line to 'the guy who dies first'.

Even so, he boldly ventured forward to where no man had gone before, standing heedfully at the corpse's sprawled feet. He crouched lower, face to face with the little horror. "L'mme just see if this guy's got anything useful..."

He took a deep breath, inching his hands to the rifle, apparently just as aware as he ever could have been that he was defiling a cadaver long since touched by anything that wasn't murderous. His movements were painfully slow. Visible caution was exercised. Finally, his fingers gingerly gripped the weapon, and slowly creeped their way back to his person, when...

"AAAAAAHHHHAH."

A (masculine) shout of horror escaped Ace's lips at the same time his gun-gripping hands were flung back in the direction of the body's chest. And then...

He turned his head back to the others with a sheepish grin. "...heh. Jus' kiddin'."

He stood up, and began examining the rifle.

Hoji watched expectantly as Ace looted the body of it's rifle. If it had been there as long as they were thinking, just...sitting there, it might be prone to jamming -- or maybe not, being in an evironment free of malicious microscopic corroding agents or what have you. Who knows? He certainly didn't.

He jumped a bit when Ace used the classic dead body scare tactic. A hand patted his chest when he was done and the raccoon let out a deep breath, "Given the circumstances, I don't think that was called for." He said, having seen enough horror movies to never rule out dead men walking.

"Anyway..." He said, then looking around. Any doorways in the hall would certainly have signs telling where they lead. He looked for one that would point him in the likely direction of the living quarters for the crew.

He stopped at a door that lead to the crew quarters. Time to see if this door worked.

Vsssssh, the door began, and then followed up with gronk gronk gronk grounk-k-k-k crunch.

It was a bi-part door, sliding open into the walls on either side. It had opened about three feet, and then began to grind on its track. It crept along, still trying to open, to the muted whining of servos.

An abrupt pop, as of tormented fuses, directly preceded the cessation of the door to function at all. It was very easy to see why, upon inspection of the room.

The room beyond was not on fire.

Of course, this was not to say it had not been.

At some point in the distant past, something had ripped the room to pieces. More horrible melt-marks dripped down the far wall, and a haze singing graced much of the bedding. Personal effects had been littered about, bunks upset.

A half-dozen mummified crewmembers were splayed amongst the wreckage. One of them had its chest cavity burned out. Beyond was a split locker room, for male and female personnel. There was no Captain's quarters here.

Coop stalked into the room, and stopped. He looked around, an impossible-to-read expression on his face. Somewhere between disbelieving, aghast, and down-right furious, he stared around the room in hard-bitten silence.

"Well this is just," he finally began.

"Great," he finished, with incredible venom.

"This is getting ridiculous, what actually happened here? Look at the walls," he pointed out, "gunfire, or something. Why wasn't this ship nuked?" he went on, his voice raising, "We had five missiles launched at us. Why wasn't this ship nuked? Was there some kind of mutiny or did what-ever is doing this just decide that being blown apart in deep space wasn't bad enough of a death."

Either Rodolf had never seen a horror movie in his life, or he was just refusing to be shaken. In any half-baked horror movie, this would, of course, mean he was also on the list to die a horrible death, either way.
He hung a bit further back while Ace robbed a corpse, gave a cheap scare (he actually raised his eyebrows at that-- which at this point may have been equivalent to jumping a foot in the air and screaming). "Very cute," he had muttered, eying the gun now in Ace's possession.

After a moment, though, he noticed the raccoon's migration, and followed after. He looked in the door as it gronked open (that was just not a good sound). The unicorn stepped into the room directly after Coop, and folded his arms. "That's what we're here to figure out," he said simply, a frown creeping up on his face. Dead bodies! Dead bodies everywhere-- or at least, inside of every room they entered, and he had the creeping feeling that this was a trend that would continue.

Taking it upon himself, Rodolf up and crept his way over to the crew members that had, ahhh, ceased to be, on the off-chance that there was anything that would help explain the situation.
Or possibly something that would leap out of the wreckage and kill him. That, too, was an option.

Several of the long-dead crew members had their hands wrapped around sidearms. There were no further clues to be had.

There was a faint clatter in one of the locker rooms. Which one it had come from was not certain.

Coop's grenade launcher was almost instantly whisked off his back and directed towards the distant, darkened doorway.

"Did you hear that," he stated, flatly.

Rodolf, taking a leaf from Ace's book, wrenched one of the weapons out of the body's hands, before the noise reached him. His ears perked up and his head whipped around, and a profoundly unamused expression crossed his face.

"Oh, that's encouraging," he said, nigh-simultaneously to Coop's comment.

"This is getting worse by the second," replied coop Grimly.

He slowly began to approach the door.

An intensely loud clang rang out, distinctly now, from the male change room, located on the right.

Ace removed the magazine from the rest of the gun, and found that it was substantially lighter than he'd have liked it to be. One glance at the bullets inside told him they were the same type of bullets scattered all across the floor where they'd entered in. He'd noticed the rifle was set to burst fire-- that meant nine, maybe twelve rounds left inside.

Suddenly, nearly any sense of joviality was immediately sucked out of Ace, and into the direction of the locker rooms. With a click, he smacked the magazine back inside, and wrapped the strap over his shoulder, equipping it properly. He would've taken the body armor, too, for all the good it did the last guy... but it was human sized. He followed the behind eagle, impatiently rapping his fingers along the rifle's grip.

"...Yo, watch yourself, man," he breathed, readying himself for whatever little space horrors they might discover.
