The frigid air was making Ember shiver and ill-tempered. Happiness stopped when the warmth stopped. She was starting to weight the risks of starting a fire right in that spot. Anything to get the cold out. She wasn't made for the cold. As far as the bird was concerned cold shouldn't exist.

And now they were listening to a drunk rabbit with a wonderful looking coat. So warm looking.

"Lookie dudes. I'm all up for chatting but can't we do it inside? Ya know before we freeze into popsicles? That bar looks hella inviting."

Jack put an arm around the frigid bird with a sympathetic smile. But one that also said tough luck. She rubbed the birds arms in a vein attempt to make warm her up with magical friction.

"I don't reckon we want all the attention walkin' into that bar'll get us." She suggested looking a bit uneasily towards the bar. She resumed trying to help the cold bird despite how cold the griffin was in comparison. Jack despised the cold almost as much as she did salt water. This situation was an excellent excuse for her to be miserable, but her desire to keep everyone together and the fact there wasn't anything to be done about it, she kept her whining internal.

"The Hotel's a heck've a lot closer then that 'ol castle." Jack replied to the rabbit pointing a thumb as the welcoming warmth the building offered.

We haven't seen Tank since the 15th, and I know things are rough for Greens right now. As such, I am going to take a mighty risk and post as Tank. Ain't nothin' like the real thing, I know, but I'm trying.

I don't intend to do this long-term, though--just a couple posts. As you will soon see, I am setting up a way to exclude Tank from the action until Greens returns. SNIFFLES.

Tank, who had been quietly bringing up the rear of the group (lest he eclipse all view beyond the front of it with his Power Girth should he actually lead the march), paused, and with shifting, calculating eyes, considered their options.

"Hai am eenclined to agah..."

... ?

"To agah..."

Tank's nose scrunched up and his eyes crossed just ever so. He looked... odd. He attempted to say the word again.

"To ah... ...ah..."

...

"AGHCHOO."

Sheets of snow fell off the roof of the inn at Tank's thunderous Power Sneeze.

"... to agrlee with the sherliff," he finally finished, quietly and sheepishly dabbing his nose with a gentlemanly handkerchief from his utility belt.

"Excyoose me. Thees cold air, you know."

*Sniff.*

Unfortunately for Tank, the one-eyed rabbit had some bad news in store.

"The hotels around here be full," He said matter-of-factly before taking a quick swig of his rum, then looked at Tank who seemed to be getting a cold.

"Methinks it'd be best just to hoof it to the castle. Hopefully the baron be as friendly as the rumors say."

He grinned at the group, "If it be spirits ya need, I got plenty ta go 'round." He gestured to the bottle in his hand, "It'll keep ya warm, too."

"We want some lasting warmth," the koala piped up, "not somethin' to make us feel warm 'till we end up with frostbite."

Biting her cheek, Key looked long and hard at the shivering bird, then sighed. I'm gonna regret this. Regretfully she removed herself from the cape and held it out to Ember. "I'll pass on the bar," she agreed. "Here. Figure we could share."

If she was going to have to survive with these people in these conditions, she figured it couldn't hurt to at least not alienate them. She'd gotten off to a splendid start with the Sheriff, but there was still time for her to make up for that.

Glancing at Tank, she frowned, worried. While the rest of them might be more than a little unhappy in their present environment, could he even function in it after a while...?

Holding the thick warmth of the cape in her gloved hands Ember gave a thumbs up at Key. So far she was liking this bear. At least she thought she was a bear. The ears were a bit too fuzzy though.

"Thanks dude," she started out, "we can share though!"

With that statement she pulled Key close. So close that their shoulders were bumping into each other. Tossing the cape over the both of them she was pleased to see it covered just enough. Though she did give Key a little more than half.

That problem fixed she glanced at the rest of the group. "Well, I'm all up for trotting up to see the baron. The walking will keep us warm at least."

Mako looked between the spear-bearing weirdo and the... looked-like-a-pirate.
He groaned. It was official-- as far as he cared, there were no normal people here. He, surprisingly, may have been the only one who wasn't feeling too bad about the cold (hey, at least it wasn't dry). This lack of being bothered was a mystery, considering his remarkable lack of clothing.

"This day is not improving as it goes on," he remarked to anybody who was in earshot.

Corin stroked his chinfluff again (did he ever get tired of doing that?) and looked between the castle and the rabbit. He was, of course, oblivious to the... distribution of his cape between the koala and the bird.
"Well, there's always time for an adventure!" he outright yelled, pointing his spear dramatically towards the castle. "Onwards, lest we all freeze!"

"I think I'm starting to hate sir fancypants."

When Sir Fancy Pants starting yelling Jack jumped and stummbled a step back through the snow.

"The heck you yellin for?! We're right here!" She snapped back as she started marching through the snow, muttering heatedly. "I swear... ain't got no damn manners... some people's kids... there better not be any ghosts in this damn castle or I'll be swimmin back..."

Jack maybe able to put on a tough face but it didn't make her any less cold. She was shivvering as she opened her bag and started pulling on her changes of clothing over what she was wearing to keep herself warm. It was better then frost bite, even if she looked like some sort of hobo.

It was though a long march. She sighed looking at the newcomers, her flare of anger having long sense passed. "You both locals? 'er all the locals as... colorful as yerselves?"

Though he seemed fine on the surface, there was perhaps some reasoning in Key being worried for her reptilian companion. For while Tank appeared as cool as a cucumber on the outside, he was getting terribly close to dangerously frickin' freezing on the inside. He was just very good at hiding it. The only time he even frowned was at Mako's mention of distaste for the spear-wielding stranger who seemed... in all honesty, to have nothing better to do than to tail them at all times. That, and hearing that all the hotels were already preoccupied. Very strange for a town under lockdown.

He held a fist to his chin in brow-furrowing thought.

"Sherlif, aye belief I weel stay here forl the time being," he said, taking a shuffle-step in Ivan's direction. "There may be somewon within who knows something more." With that, he reached into his shell and approached her with a curious looking device. "Theese ees a Powar Communicator. Fonctions moch like a cell phone. Should aye be needed for anything, do not hesitate to call."

"I don't know what you mean by colorful, but no I ain't a local." He answered, just before Tank introduced the griffin to his Power Communicator. Speaking of colorful individuals, they seemed to have one in their own group.

"Now, if everyone be feelin' up to it, methinks we should double-time it." He said as he took another swig of his ale and started to walk toward the castle.

Pulling away from Key, Ember let the warm blanket cover the other girl's shoulders. Walking should keep her warm. Hopefully.

While following a intoxicated rabbit through a strange town to a rather odd castle wasn't the best idea, it was all they had. Better than sleeping outside anyways. Booted feet crunching in the snow, she hoofed it after the leading man.

The group would find no further difficulty in arriving at the castle other than tolerating Sir Corin's tirelessly gallivanting company.

It cast a looming shadow, but it wasn't as dark as it may have seemed from far away, when it was previously contrasted against the sunset. The castle was of very light stone, and blended well with the fair snow. Red-capped towers came to extremely steep, sharp points (surely to discourage the accumulation of slush), and warm lights glowed from within. The front gate, standing open, was similarly lit with gas lamps hanging from the walls and ceiling within. A short walk through the entrance brought them to the cobblestone courtyard walk, which was lined with yet more lamps. The landscaping looked like it might have been pleasant in fairer weather, but as it was presently, it was indiscernible beneath a thin layer of snow. Only the walkways remained clear.

The courtyard was slightly snowed over. It seemed there were no guards to be spoken of—at least it seemed sane enough within, compared to what they had experienced outside thus far. A couple small automobiles, piled with snow, sat under tarps not terribly far from the castle's front door. Cars! Cars were a nice, normal thing, right?

Assuming the continued onward, they would find themselves staring down big, leaf-shaped knockers hanging from each of the doors. There appeared to be other ways into the castle—side doors around other sections of the courtyard, and so on—but this was the place the residents would probably want to receive guests... if they were going to receive any at all, anyway.

As they passed through the gates, Ivan glanced back to make sure no one was falling behind. He took note of the clear walkways. It was a good sign..that means that who ever lives here takes care, or has hired help to take care of his outdoor maintenance.

Upon reaching the front door, he glanced back at the fellow outsiders to make sure no one had fallen behind. Then he gave the knocker some work.

"See, wasn't that bad of a walk. Didn't get no frostbite'r nothin'!" He said with a big toothy grin. He tilted back the last of his booze, which he apparently wasn't keeping track of, because when no more cold ale sloshed down his throat, he blinked, and then proceeded to stare down the neck of the bottle in dismay.

"Aw, hell..."

Jack glanced at the rabbit in a manor that was no less then concerned. She reached up and gave the knockers a good clanging, she didn't care if the sleepy town was settling down, it wasn't late enough for her to think herself rude for doing so. The griffin waited for an answer as she brushed snow out of her hair, all the while she seemed preoccupied with the hare. At some point during the exhausting walking they got the rabbit's name from him but the group still remained scarce on details about the black rabbit and the odd knight.

"Ya've got a drinkin' problem, Ivan." she said to him placing a hand on her hip.

After a short wait, the immense, wooden door clicked, and swished, and swung open with gliding smoothness and the heaviness of displaced air, its sheer thickness and close-measured closure seeming to very nearly create a suction at first. It was soon followed by a noisy, drafty whoosh, however, and thereafter, the group basked in the mercifully warm air from within.

Firelight flickered and the smoky scent of burning wood wafted out from behind their greeter. An average sized fellow, tawny-headed, with a slightly rodent-like look about him, the steward wore a rich, wine-red jacket, neatly buttoned in front, with a tall, creamy white shirt collar standing much higher, hugging up around his cheeks, all capped off with a silken, seafoam-colored tie. He was very well dressed, but in his mannerisms, he looked less snooty, and more... taken aback by their presence, as he clutched the sides of the door and leered with a series of rapid blinks and a cautious look on his face.

"... M-may I help you?" he eventually stammered after several seconds, as if realizing belatedly that his silence was rude.
