Welcome!
If you're trying to find out how to join and get your character added to our roster, you're in the right place. Read on for instructions on just that, as well as a little more info about us.
Our goal here is just to have fun, not to show off or put anyone down. Most people agree that rules themselves aren't very fun, but they're necessary to create a good, fair, interesting environment in which to role-play, and to keep certain people from
ruining the fun. We want to encourage anyone who's interested, regardless of your Sonic background, to come and join us, but there are a few requirements beforehand.
1. Supply us with some basic information about your original (fan) character concept in the form below.
2. Put effort into your character, make it original, and take a look at the rules.
3. Be at least 15 years old—No exceptions. (We mean you, the player, not your character.)Click here to see the rules for our RP. The ones you need to be
most concerned with as a newcomer just getting started are the original character guidelines,
located here.
Note that we don't require new RPers to jump through a lot of hoops to get a character approved here. Instead, what we do is ask a few questions about your character, and if the concept is good, follows the rules, and will fit well in the story, then we approve it, and you can move on to make a full-fledged wiki profile for him or her.
To join, register a forum account (the internet is loaded with spambots, so we can't allow anonymous posting), copy the following text and
make a new thread in this forum, answer the questions, and submit! If you have any questions, feel free to post in the RP Talk forum.
Note: This application is mostly for non-official, fan-made characters. If you want to get to play an official Sega character in our story, you'll need to show your creativity and skill in playing a character of your own design first. Well, generally. We might make some exceptions, depending on the character. No harm in asking, anyway.Quote:
The Questionnaire!(Please note that this is not a complete character profile—that comes later. This is more of an abbreviated "character concept" sheet. Get the basic premise for the character approved, then you can move on to building a full wiki profile. This is so people don't waste time on long profiles only to get rejected for some fundamental rule they missed.)What is your character's name?

Give us a few paragraphs of general info about your character. For example, what's the character's personality like? What kind of things does he or she do? Why does he or she do it? (Please
don't give us your character's point-by-point life history, though.)
>
Does your character have any skills or special abilities, a gimmick, or anything that makes it stand out as an athlete or fighter? If so, talk a little about it here. Be sure to include an explanation or origin story for anything unusual, extraordinary, or supernatural.
>
Does your character have any purpose? (It's okay if you don't have this fully figured out yet, but all the better if your character does have an agenda or some sort of driving force to it to make it interact with other characters.)
>
Does your character have an image? You can post it here, if so (as long as you follow the rules mentioned in the character guidelines). If not, please write a description of your character's appearance.
>
Will you be around to play your character regularly? (i.e. Keeping daily tabs on any threads you involve yourself in, and posting whenever it's your turn?)
>
Do you live in or near the Americas, or elsewhere? (It may be difficult for you to participate in any of the fast-moving sessions if you're only online when the rest of the group is asleep, so we ask this just to be aware of any potential problems.)

Are you okay with having your character information and image on this website (such as on the wiki)?

What is
your name?
(This question isn't optional. We need something to call you by that isn't your character's name nor some obnoxiously long username. Don't post your last name, though! This forum isn't private.) Note: Guys, please understand that this section is not some attempt to compromise your privacy or identity. We're not sociopaths, nor are we psychic; we will not be able to cyberstalk and abduct you simply by knowing your first name is Bill, or Tom, or Lucy, or whatever. It's just that most of us go by our first name around here, and so when you find yourself surrounded by people with names like John, Matt, Charles, so on, and so forth, you probably won't want to be the sole individual trying to get everyone to call you KawaiiBlaster, Penguinbum, or Shadowsonic1997.>
Lastly, by submitting the above, you acknowledge your understanding of the following:
1. Even though we want things to be as friendly as possible here, this is a character review process. This involves critique, which is intended to highlight and iron out any possible problems in character profiles. (In other words, it doesn't mean we don't like you or your character if we point out issues, so chill, and don't get too worked up about imaginary cartoon characters on the internet.)
2. This is not a chat RP! This is a forum-based RP, as it says everywhere from the splash page, to the front page, to right under the logo of the page you're viewing now. Chat participation is still largely required to be a communicative and effective member of the community, however.
3. You have at least looked at the rules. You have at least looked at the main page and know that you are signing for an RP, and know what role-playing is. If you are unclear on anything, ask questions before you submit. Please. Please.4. Getting involved may take some time. We are not a super-fast-paced RP. Sometimes, a primary story thread may go on for a couple weeks, and you may not be able to join in until the next thread. If you want quick-fire "*walx in*" RP, this is not the place for you.All clear? Capiche? Alright. Let's go.
Once you've posted your info, the admin team will descend upon it like hungry vultures and come to a consensus in about
24-48 hours, depending on how busy we are. (We have lives! Please be patient.) If there's anything that needs to be fixed to be in line with the RP rules, we'll tell you, give you however much time you need to make adjustments, and try to answer whatever questions you may have. We can't make a character
for you, though, so please don't expect us to!
There are three possible outcomes when you submit a character to SSRP:- The character complies with rules and is well-written: You will be placed in the "Members" group and given access to the wiki so that you can complete your character profile there. (You may or may not be asked to correct a few small things along the way, if necessary.) You'll be able to start posting without restriction as soon as your wiki profile is complete.
- The character breaks rules, has no effort put into it, or has a lot of problems: It will be rejected. You will be free to resubmit as many times as you like (within reason) as long as you were not rejected for art theft or plagiarism.
- The character does not really break rules, but needs work for some reason: You may be marked as a "Beginner Member," which carries with it a few limitations. If you want more information, see below.
Thanks for your patience in reading through all this. We look forward to seeing you join up!
