Sonic Spindash RP is closed.

Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.

It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

"..."

Tank, of course, had no response to this. He merely turned to whoever may have been watching/listening to the ordeal, and pointed a finger back to the intercom, as if to say 'this is the crap I put up with'.

With a sigh, he crossed his arms and planted his butt square on a nearby waiting chair, huffing to himself until the doctor either apologized, or he got bored enough to participate in his little game.

Mako was muttering something about "I didn't give it to you, it somehow got into my shoe and you decided that it would be a good idea to steal my sneakers to get at it" while he marched diligently towards the gift store again as soon as Target brought the issue up. His trinket-buying adventure had been cut short by the arrival of the others, at any rate.

Wild Badge-brand soda, Wild Badge mousepad, Wild Badge coffee mug, Wild Badge statue, Wild Badge spiral-bound notebooks, Wild Badge transmission flui--

Mako froze in his steps, then proceeded to shuffle backwards towards the statue-- and, in true form, tripped, and proceeded to knock over a cardboard cutout. Face on the floor, he pointed and made a vague sort of grunting noise that may or may not have translated back out to "Maybe he put this freakin' statue thing on it".

Mako would have no difficulty seeing from his newfound (faceplant) perspective that there was indeed a silver key card poking out from beneath the plastic statue's foot.

Mako (as soon as he lifted his head) set the bag of robot remains down, plucked the card from it's place on the ground, and then... ... placed his face back down, holding the card straight up with one hand. He spoke into the floor.

This was truly a dignified shark.

"Found it!"

Peeking over the top of the reception desk, where she had been digging through drawers fruitlessly, Ember spied the shiny metallic card.

"Woo! Awesome!", she exclaimed loudly while coming out from behind the desk. Coming over to the fallen shark, the bird plucked the card from his hand.

"Ya know, I expected...I dunno something more.

"Good work ya'll. Now lets see what this fussin' is about." She said with a shake of her head as she approched the door they needed to unlock. She glanced around and stuffed the card into the first card slot she saw.

"Crazy old coot..." She muttered waiting for the other card so they could get to the bottom of all of this.

And right up behind Jack came the little red bird. Card in hand, she inserted it into what she hoped was the correct slot.

"So um...does this happen often?"

"Stupendous work!" exclaimed Dr. Henshin. The doors slid open, revealing... a fairly nice little lounge! It wasn't anything special, but it was better than a boring meeting room. The lighting was relaxed, there were a couple sofas, some comfy chairs, a big TV, lots of tables—kind of like a very homey restaurant (which it may well have been during normal operation). The kooky little moth in question was seated in a large, cozy recliner, near a fireplace, in front of a sizable marble-topped coffee table. He was leaning forward and gazing down at it with a grave look on his face when they came walking up.

"Now, for your next puzzle, I have these twelve matchsticks..."

...

"I kid!" he blurted and clapped his hands, and leaned back. "How is everyone doing today, hm?"

This was bound to be an interesting meeting.

Jack sighed a bit as she glanced at the others before entering the room. No sense in finding the old moth and just looking at his chair. So she ventured in and dropped herself into a seat nearest the old moth.

"Alright, we're here, what's this about?" she asked looking at the moth with a raised brow.

The pink CT scrambled in not long after Jack posed her question. The robot had a nice new wild badge purse over one shoulder with a few comics sticking out of it.

"I uh, left money on the counter, I don't think your cashier is feeling well." She mentioned quietly not wanting to interrupt anything important she may have missed. The cashier robot would just shoot quarters at Target when she tried to talk to it.

Mako, having grabbed up his bags of Wild Badge merchandise and entered the lounge, had stared at Henshin with a look of pure unamusedness as he let down his ruse. As the moth lapsed into acting ever-so-civil and as though nothing had gone wrong, the fish looked around, and said to whomever was listening (which was just as likely no-one):
"... am I the only one who thinks this can't end well? I mean really?"

Regardless, he found his way to the nearest sofa and plopped down into it, looking at the moth with skeptical sharky eyes, as though nothing Henshin did would escape him. No sir, not today. He was ready and alert and other such synonyms.

Who, Mako? Still bitter about the moth enrolling him in that boxing match back on Westside? Never.

Never one to be left behind, the vibrant bird strolled into the room and plopped down onto a sofa lazily. She was still slightly annoyed at the 'scavenger hunt' a few moments ago. What was with old people and making everything take longer? Not like they had that long to live. Or something. For once her beak was shut and she was silent; still mentally grumbling to herself.

Likewise, Tank marched in behind the others, forgoing the comfort and cozy atmosphere of chairs and the like in favor of standing and looking irritable. Likely for nothing but the chance to let Henshin know his jimmies had been rustled, he folded one mighty arm over the other, and released a single puff of air from his turtle-nose, as if to say, 'Aye em leestoning.'

"You people act like you don't trust me...!" said Dr. Henshin, feigning emotional wounds. "A sweet little old man like me, really. Come now."

His tone made clear that he was kidding and unoffended by their attitudes. Perhaps there was some self-awareness in him after all.

He leaned back in his seat and clapped his hands a couple times. The lights dimmed and a flatscreen dropped out of the ceiling. "I'm sure you all remember a delightful young man named Seven," stated the moth as a photo of the boy (making a face not entirely unlike this) appeared onscreen. "For those of you who don't really know him, just rest assured that he was a little bleepity bleep."

Yes, he actually said bleepity bleep.

"As far as we know, he's a good little dead boy now," whoa, okay, kind of a scary thing to say, "but he left a very interesting item in Mako's care: a flash drive with GUN data."

"Seven’s flash drive contains an immense amount of data, though most of it is heavily encrypted. I'm not sure why he would have given us such a heavily secured device if he actually wanted us to learn anything. Perhaps it was something he never intended to part with, but decided to in the heat of the moment? I suppose we'll never really know, hm?"

"Anyway, decrypting the data has been an ongoing process for a while now. I only have bits and pieces. Among those, a word appears repeatedly: Phoenix. Someone in GUN had a… fixation on something called 'the Phoenix.' I can't yet decrypt enough of the document to really know what it is—a monster, a machine, a codename for something—but it keeps coming up over, and over, and over again, alongside two names: Fefifrin, and Cape Norden."

A photo of some mantis-looking guy and a map of an island appeared on the screen.

"Fefifrin—one Juneau Fefifrin—is an archaeologist. He apparently discovered something GUN was very interested in, located in Cape Norden, a frigid little country you probably haven't heard of, aaall the way out in Glastonia. For those of you who dozed off in geography class, it's a small continent—or was it a big island?—well, either way, it's on the dead opposite side of the globe from here, and completely and totally isolated from the rest of the world, with no modern communications in public use whatsoever. And, strangest of all, they just recently cut off international traffic, preventing anyone from entering or leaving the country on grounds of some kind of 'national crisis.'"

He suddenly sat up straight, and all the lights came on blindingly bright again.

"And that's where you come in!" he shouted a little too loudly for comfort. "I want to send a team on a little vacation to Cape Norden. If you're able, I'd like you to find out what's going on over there, if anything, and what the phoenix is. I also have reason to believe Mr. Fefifrin may be there, as well, so if you can find and get in contact with him, all the better."

He leered at his group.

"Any questions?"

The robot stared at the screen a moment, the looked at Jack. She suddenly began tapping the sheriff's shoulder with some sense of urgency.

"Hey." She prodded.

Jack swatted the robots hand away from her shoulder with a disgruntled huff. She didn't have time for the robots shananagins.

"Ya want us to investagate this fer you?" Jack asked though it was purley hypathetical, her next questions less so. "Why can't Hoji do this? Inn't this why you keep him 'round? Ta go do yer busy work for ya?"

"How would we even get there?"

"Hey." She continued to prod the sheriff. "Hey listen"

Dr. Henshin pursed his lips, tapped all his fingertips together, and looked down. "Yes, well," he began hesitantly, "Hoji is actually in space, believe it or not, pursuing a very dangerous criminal. Very dangerous..."

"It isn't in character for us to call for outside help," he admitted with a sigh, "but I have no idea when he'll return. This mission would be an awful lot to ask of any one person, anyway."

He rocked back in his seat, twiddling his fingers. He seemed to manage to shake the worry from his tone, but there was still an unusual solemnity to his words.

"I would understand if any of you are too busy for a big trip like this, especially when it may be nothing but a wild goose chase. But, if you do decide to go, it should be an entertaining diversion, at the very least. And don't worry—I know how to get you in and out safely."
