Updates Sonic Spindash RP is closed.Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.
It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

"Same package we used to image craters on the far side of the moon," he stated matter-of-factly. "It's probably the smallest and lightest available of that power."
He wasn't too engaged in that particular part of the conversation anymore, though; he seemed to instead be evaluating some way to get the machine out of the mess it was in. "Th'thing's not gonna do anybody any good stuck in an upside-down biplane, though."

"Eeyeah, uh," Ace interrupted. "I mean not that, airplane technology isn't just totally awesome, but there comes a time when we must cast aside the details and actually start to... use it."
He cleared his throat.
"So," he said, rolling up his muddy-ass sleeves and looking for a good grip on the Tornado. "Step one. Get this bad boy outta the muck. Rock?" He wrapped his fingers under a wing lifted his shoulders to a pair of *pops*, and gave the monkey a look, and took a quick breath.
"Ready?"

Rock looked at Ace, completely deadpan. "You got a four-by-four truck with a winch in your coat pocket?"
Nonetheless, he stepped around to the rear of the plane, and grasped at the underside of the narrow part of the fuselage.
"If we're gonna be macho, let's do it right. Tail over nose, so the wings don't get any more damaged."
They didn't stand a chance.

Tails, ran around, oblivious to the potential weight of the plane, and got by the tail, where the badly beaten tail-fin propped the fuselage off the ground.
He braced himself, hands gripping the metal as tightly as the water soaking everything would allow, determination written all over his face.

Ace's head drooped rather comically down as he growled out some kind of indiscernible "khhhgh" noise. "Alright, alright. Figured you'd catch something like that. Always do."
So he walked around...
...Dragging his feet...
...And then decided to grab it properly, with a kung-fu grip (and a tiny, tiny little smile). Seeing the little fox ready to do some power lifting had inspired him. So he filled his lungs with one deep breath, and exhaled probably too quickly. "Okay... On three," he said, finalizing his hold.
"One..."
"Two..."

Teck's curiosity was tickled - as far as his resistance to snoop was concerned, he was $%@& outta' luck.
He had to go see what was up.
Glistening waters lining the horizon when he was certain that he was far, faaaar away from the beach didn't ring the 'normal bell', so after several twitches of his ear from Velo's relentless chattering of his otherwise humorous elucidation, Teck very lightly pushed him aside (not even so much a push than a vague touch to his shoulder) and made way down the sidewalk. "Uh-huh, mate, that's great! Now... what's say we go give this the ole' once over? I'm certain the beach is far from here, but maybe a hydrant exploded or something."
"Something's not quite right over there. Follow me and let's go spend some more of those calories we just consumed, shall we?" He beckoned curtly with a quick swing of his torso before directing his attention to the onward road once more. His gait was brisk, sometimes transitioning into a quick jog when intruding more open areas. He led Velo through all kinds of odds and ends of the downtown city, but the first splash Teck's foot made would turn out to be a harbinger of a most gruesome site - further on, the water was far deeper. Frozen in stupor and his maw agape, he said, "Bloody 'ell - how did we MISS this?"
Inspecting the scene with the utmost detail, he depended more so on his ears to give him the full scope than his eyes. Other than the placid current of the water, all that ran down those flickering hearers were the sounds of several panicked voices, a handful of windshield wipers still running, distant car alarms, and nothing more. However, that smell... his nostrils flared in and out vigorously.
"... great Scot. How good of a jumper are you? We need to get to the beach. This is salt water, it didn't come from the sewers."

Although Velo didn't enjoy rounds of Follow The Leader, the basilisk lizard ambled along after Teck, using bits of silence while doing so to, well... you know.
"... and I was runnin' through the jungle and all of a sudden I came up on this mushroom, and you know they got mushrooms the size of a house out there? And I know that there are people out there who think you can eat 'em and you'll get all big and super and somethin', man what kinda moron you gotta be to do somethin' like that, anyway I..."
He stopped rambling when the realization that this water might not be something he wanted to walk in sprang to mind.
"... Ew." Well, that was one way to get him to stop. Luckily Teck had a nose for this sort of thing, and his fears were quickly diminished, although floodwater still ranked pretty high on his list of liquids he didn't want to make bodily contact with. No choice if they wanted to get to the beach as the porcupine suggested, which the reptile notably offered no jest at. Heck knows the city's emergency services needed and wanted a hand. Well, most of them. He'd tried helping some SSD guys catch a bird or something but they'd just told him to get out of the way.
When one particular word came from Teck's mouth, though, Velo turned to fix him with a look of dismay. "How good of a jumper am I?" He looked back at the water. "I ain't bad. Don't think I could make it over that in a single bound, though." His mouth turned upside-down and for a second he looked a little sad, although there was something feigned to the expression.
"... Good thing guys like me don't need to jump. See you on the other side Tacky." Or whatever his name was.
He burst off from where he stood with a scratch of gravel kicking behind him, running straight at the depths. If Teck thought some deep-sea diving was about to happen, he was mistaken. The ensuing sight was a spectacle. Velo went plowing over the hazard, actually stamping his way along on the surface of the water, sending big splashes up behind him and to each side with each "step" of his foot. People a short distance from the group stopped what they were doing to watch.

The simian's boots dug into the gunky sand, digging tracks and trenches as he pushed his shoulder under the fuselage and heaved, and struggled for traction, and fought for progress of any kind. The thing was just too heavy for the three of them. Rock's face reddened, and his joints popped and cracked audibly as he put more muscle into it than he really ought to have; maybe he was trying to compete with Ace, who probably wasn't having quite as much difficulty. Whatever the case, when they did make some headway, it was hard won. Like a flagpole being raised, the tail end of the plane eventually jutted into the sky at an angle, swaying uneasily as Rock worked his way farther and farther forward, until he was no longer lifting from the out-of-reach tail, but instead clutching at the opening of the cockpit, then the top wing as he battled bitterly to flip the aircraft the rest of the way over.
But there it hung. There was no more progress. They were so close, but between the two of them, the lightweight of a flying fox, and the slippery, mucky ground that offered little traction, the machine was left wavering in place.
"Just watch," Rock wheezed, "this damn thing," huff, wheeze, "gonna come back down on us," wheeze, huff "and we'll see on the news, ... monkey and cat... crushed in freak techno cropduster accident."
He rammed his shoulder into the plane for good measure as he tried to fight it the rest of the way over.
"Full story at seven."

"Ah, c'mon," Ace growled. There was no doubt he was struggling valiantly, the way his face tightened up as his hands kept shifting up and down the plane's body in search of a more reliable grasp. "You make it sound like... this wasn't your idea..." Granted, he wasn't quite as red in the face as Rock, but he was certainly doing some strained breathing, and if his noodly-armed anatomy allowed it, he'd probably be popping some veins as well. But for all his effort, (especially after the first bit of progress), the damn thing refused to budge any further.
"Nng... aaaahhshhhhit... Okay! Okay, let go, let go for a sec!" And provided his companions should comply, Ace would step back, somewhat briskly, in case Rock's crushing prediction should happen to come true. He put his hands on his knees, quickly caught his breath, and stood himself up with an expression that said, 'Well, damn.'
"Well, damn," he said. "That's not workin'... What's this thing made of?" It was a rhetorical question of course, as if he couldn't believe that something could have been too heavy for him to lift. "Whadda we need, like, a lever...? We need a lever for this thing? I don't think we have any levers 'round 'ere..."

As the aircraft fell back into place with a sound splat (of wet sand, not squished people, thankfully), Rock glared at Ace—Mostly because he gave up.
"Yeah. A lever. That's great," he replied tersely. "We'll just get a giant stick." No, he was not seriously accepting the idea. "I mean, c'mon, we were close. A summer breeze would've pushed it the rest'a the way."
His tone betrayed the fact that he wasn't really mad, though. Just irritated with the timesink of an airplane. If they could get it back in the air, though, the payoff would be good, to say the least.

"I'm just throwin' ideas out here, man!" he said defensively, throwing his arms up. "We don't have a summer breeze, so we gotta find something else, alright? That thing's stuck in there like a..."
He twirled a hand looking for an analogy that fit. Ultimately, he couldn't find one that could be said around an eight-year-old.
"Well it's just straight-up stuck in there. I mean if you wanna, we could give it another shot, but..."

Tails stared dismally at the plane as it crashed down to the ground, before brightening up again.
"Knuckles could do it."
Tails cast around, before he chuckled and pointed at a fallen steel lamp-post that had been wrenched off its base when a boat had been thrown into it. It was a massive galvanised steel thing, the top of which had been broken off by the shock of the impact and now dangled by a strung-out power cable.
"He could probably use that as a lever, even."

As Teck gazed at the basilisk's rampant jet down the surface of the murky depths as if it was solid ground with only an inch of water; spectators abound gasping and some applauding in awe (even in light of the disaster at hand), this particular spiny-smartass could all but scratch an ear and shrug a shoulder. Of course, he was quite impressed - a remote shred of envy, even. Still, he had his own ways, murmuring punctually, "Heh, well then! Everyone's got their own method to madness."
Pausing for a second, he glanced up at the rooftops - his turf. Only the briefest smile was any shred of forewarning for his intentions, but then fwoosh!, springing up like a frog and without even the slightest exertion, he scaled the roof of a deserted shopping center and from there he pressed onward and forward. Teck always felt more comfortable maintaining a manageable 50-60 or so miles an hour than sprinting at his max, and when combined with his footwork, it made for a sinuous parkour with a flow akin to a stream running along the mountains. He became one with his obstacles, he embraced them rather than avoided them. A hop over a lot of cinder blocks, a lateral skid to avoid an antenna, a quick climb up an emergency ladder, a flip over a rain gutter, a dash over a bare stretch of rooftop, a fling from a flagpole mounted on the side of a building, another hop over a downed guard fence, and occasionally a death-defying leap to a canopy across the street. Obstacles, as far as he was concerned, were helpers, not hinders.
All in all, even though he wasn't approaching subsonic like his new scaly friend, he didn't do particularly poorly in keeping up his pace at his comfy 55 miles an hour. Sadly, wherever Velo would stop, it would take a few minutes before the lizard could see any signs of Teck catching up.

Sometime during his little Sunday walk across Central City's newest moat, Velo sort of lost track of the fact that he was in the company of other people (he did have the tendency to sort of run around on his own with flagrant disregard for other people, as well as their safety but that was beside the point), and once he was across he went speeding off to the beach all by his lonesome.
It didn't take long for him to come to a screeching halt, though. Or whatever sound muddy sand makes in place of screeching. Why had he stopped? Because one of the universe's coolest sights that could be seen had just befallen his eyes, and that was a plane crash.
"Daaa-haaa-haaaamn, cool."
He looked the plane up and down, then at the unhappy people dealing with its predicament. "Hoo mama. Good luck gettin' Triple-A to tow that thing outta there." It didn't seem to dawn on him that someone might have actually gotten hurt in that thing.

"...use that as a lever, even."
"Huh?"
Tails hand dropped to his side, turning around as Velo strode on-stage of the vehicular tragedy. Mildly confused at first, the expression on his face turned from confusion to dumbfoundedness, and finally mild consternation, before Velo had finished officially announcing his take on the situation.
"Yeah," he replied ruefully, "it's... it's reaally bad. Hey! Do you think you could help us with this? We're kinda having trouble lifting it on our own."
