Perhaps a bit stubbornly, ol' alley cat formed a simple plan in his mind. If Seven thought he was too good to soil his hands in the field of battle himself, Ace would simply spend his time whittling down his forces until no other option was available, thus opening to the opportunity for a 'How d'ya like them apples?' Unfortunately that moment seemed far away, even with the help of his allies, both friends and strangers, and only because the henchthings were so numerous.

He parried a strike from one troop, grabbed at the arm and swept it to the ground on its belly. But before he could break any bones, some other soldier-- one wielding a rifle as if it were a club-- clonked him in the back with the thing. Fighting the urge to stumble over, he wheeled around with a vengeance, grabbed the rifle by the comb and practically shoved the butt through the trooper's windpipe, and smacked it against the side of its helmet with the body. It fell over and he'd effectively swiped himself a new gun, but already the first soldier had its hands around his ankles. Two gunshots later, it was dealt with.

...And then came three others dog piling on top of him from out of nowhere.

But in the middle of the serval's struggling came a great number of small blows, like lightning fast jabs on his back. When they stopped, the troops surrounding him went limp... and there were several more bullet holes in each of them than there had been a moment ago. He snapped the rifle up to the elevator doors, but it was already too late. And there were still more troopers waiting for him.

The sight of the burning creature had stopped the bird cold. But after seeing the remains and realizing that they were in fact not people it was as if her birthday had come early.

Following the sherieff's example she took to the air. Proceeding to froce the squishy things into the raging fire was her choice of attack. Childish glee filled her face as she tossed one or two into the flames; watching them catch fire and burn. It was amusement for her. If anything she wished she had a bottle of lighter fluid to help things along.

Snickering to herself she proceeded to snag another one up from the ground.

"Over and out! Let's burn you up!", she stated cheerfully as she dropped it from several feet above the flames.

By the time the koala finally caught up with the rest of the mob, the scene before her was one of pure chaos. She had absolutely no idea what was going on, and that always put her in a foul mood. Running did that as well, and as she had just struggled to make it this far only to find that the 'fun' was going on without her, her mood was looking pretty sour.

Well, she consoled herself, it's not like you're that useful in a fight, anyway.

Looking about for anyone not engaged in epic battle, she spotted a mole hanging back from the battle. She had no idea who the mole was and didn't really fancy talking to another stranger, but her curiosity always did get the best of her, and the only reason the mole'd be lingering on the edge was if they were somehow involved in all this as well. Key trotted over as quickly as she could.

"Uhm. Excuse me. I'm Key. What the hell is going on?"

She really was a pro at those first impressions.

Rock's melee through the ordeal had been similar to Ace's, but it wasn't a matter of strategy in Rock's case. He would have probably liked to get to Seven rather than fight a battle of attrition, but the option hadn't come up. He hit a point where he could barely make it a few steps without getting bogged down by drone soldiers trying to jump on his back, punch him in the face, ram him off his feet, or any other number of hapless attacks.

At one point, one of those seemingly useless strikes—a full-on headbutt charge—actually knocked the primate on his back, loosed the knife's grip from his hand, and set him into a full-on dogpile disaster. Groundfighting was something Rock excelled at, though; writhing under the mass of foes trying to beat him to death, he kneed and kicked enemies off, grabbed arms, rolled, broke arms, twisted legs, and generally wound his way around in a horrific-looking knot with his opponents that, in any other medium, would have probably been censored by a big dust cloud. Here, though, all of the many cranks, twists, snaps, and cracks were visible and audible, and after mere seconds of lashing his opponents around, he left scattered messes of fallen opponents with arms bent backwards, legs in strange positions, helmets (and possibly their contents) facing the wrong way, and nearly every other wince-worthy grappling fate imaginable.

He came out of it scuffed, scraped, and further bruised, but intact; panting and limping for his first couple steps, he scooped his knife back up started toward the center of the tower base just in time to see the little ordeal with Seven play out.

He stopped in a wide, slack stance, tired arms and shoulders drooping, and a knowing smile just barely pulling at the corner of his mouth. He didn't look all that surprised. Did he already have some inkling that Jam hadn't lost all of her abilities along with the ring? Possibly, but that was a thought to be shared another time. He had a tower to climb; without a second thought, he sheathed his weapon, ran, jumped, grabbed onto the nearest girder of one of the legs, and started hauling himself up at a blistering pace.

The tower was no ladder waiting to be ascended. There were large distances between the angled steel girders, but despite it he pulled and heaved his way up huge lunges at a time, darting along and tracing out a zigzagging path of least resistance up its skeletal frame. He had a lot of distance to cover, though.

As the army of mechanical soldiers were sent their way, the scarfed avenger clenched his fists in resolution. He leaped into the air toward one of the landing robots, using it as a stepping stone, kicking into the air toward another robot that was still airborne. The gems on his knuckles giving off a radiant blue glow as he swung a powerful haymaker at it's torso.

"WILD PUNCH!"

A few more bots would be felled in similar fashion, but his interest was elsewhere -- namely the annoying kid that simply goes by a number... Makes you wonder if there were six other people out there like him. Using his acrobatics to full effect, he played hopscotch on the heads of robots to get him closer to the center of the tower's base.

Fast as he was, it wasn't enough. He made his way toward the center of the tower base, but just in time see the level indicator show that the elevator was on the move.

"Man, what I'd give to be able to jump like Super Pig right now..." He muttered, mostly to himself but within earshot of Sheff, and the two monkeys at least.

Sheffer, in the mean time, was busying himself by rapidly pressing a button to summon the elevator, his eyes darting back every so often to check he wasn't about to be pig piled by another group of the soldiers. Though feeling a shared sense of victory that Jam had managed to strike a blow on Seven, he was impatient to take chase, still determined to get his own hit in.

"Nice kick there. Nearly made the kid cry," he complimented to the pink monkey. "This ain't over ye-" He paused, his eye catching something above... a white figure making his way through the rafters.

"Looks like your boyfriend found a different route."

In the midst of all of the chaos taking place, a particular figure only just arriving to the 'party' leapt several feet into the air, and began firing off several large, brightly-coloured rounds from what had appeared to be specially-designed flare guns. The result was a numerous quantity of artillery shells exploding within some of the larger mobs of Seven's soulless soldiers, splashes of colour and crackling thunder rippling through the ranks.

The shells themselves were apparently beefed up to the point of being a tad more dangerous than they were supposed to be, as a handful of the odd minions were either unceremoniously thrown aside, or torn asunder amidst the sparkle and fire, depending on their proximity.

Vito cackled as he landed at a crouching position, tossing aside the empty guns as he reached into his raincoat to pull out another pair. The chance to use more of his special ammunition was enough to put a smile upon his face. His hands were almost twitching at the opportunity to plug some more of those shells into the crowd.. "Pah ha ha ha! Kiiid! Wherever you're at, you better give back my trophy topper! My paycheck's on the line for that rock! Vince ain't too happy with yooou!"

He had apparently failed to notice that his quarry in question had already taken to the elevator. Unsatisfied with the lack of a response from the antagonistic child, the fennec fox simply dashed off to his right to encircle the crowd, and began firing off more of those quirky rounds. Another slew of artillery explosions filled the air, some of which were actually smoke bombs that had a penchant for -flashing-, to boot. The targets in question were most definitely those wacky henchmen of Seven's, but it wasn't implausible that some of the other fighters might also reel from the unexpected fireworks display.

But, boy, it sure was pretty.

The only thing that could make this night better was a can of spray cheese.

The dazzling lights from the fireworks wrenched Ember's attetion from the burning creatures. Eyes wide open she watched as one of the shells explode one of the things. Clapping her hands together in glee she called down to the newcomer, "Hey big ears! Nice toys you got!"

One of the 'toys' narrowly missed her tail feathers. If anything this made the bird laugh even more.

It was the most fun she had in such a long time.

In the middle of the frantic fight, one of the soldiers seemed unsure of itself. It stepped gingerly across the space at the base of the tower, seemingly unwilling to get involved in the battle. It turned, quickly, at the sound of Seven's voice—whirling around as the the kid began to shriek, but once the elevator doors closed, it stopped. It stood there, swaying back and forth, gently, until something burst behind it, knocking it to the ground.

One of the newly arrived raging rainbow thugs' dangerously explosive fireworks went off behind the short creature, and the meta-soldier was hurled forwards.

It jerked, violently, at the sight of the flashing, spitting light from the pyrotechnic device, and held out a hand in front of it to shield the lenses in its helmet from the glare. The soldier hopped agitatedly, and stepped from one foot to the next, looking around for the source of the attack, before seeing Vito, capering and whooping and letting off screaming fireworks right and left.

As the smoke-bomb at the thing's feet burned out, the soldier wove back and forth, rocking like a mongoose facing down a snake, before it seemed to remember something. It looked down at itself, it looked up again.

It extended a hand. There was a moment, as the air around its fingers began to glow, and then a column of fire shot out from its palm, and blasted towards the fennec fox with deep whoosh as the air in front of the soldier burst into flames.

Collab with the Greenspan.

The koala girl came at a most opportune moment-- just in time for her to see Caz off the edge of the road, gritting her teeth and wringing her hands and standing tippy-toe on the balls of her feet trying to get a better view. She probably should've been more aware of her surroundings, given the possibility of some stray zombie-troop-thing sneaking up on her and doing who-knows-what, but as it was, she seemed just surprised enough by Key's sudden appearance.

"Key?" she echoed, tracing back the events in her brain. "Oh, Key! So sorry we left you behind. The, the bad guy? Kid at the hotel? Seven! He's there now! Everyone's fighting off his cronies, I think. I can't see everything..."

And, since it was never too late for an introduction...

"Oh!" she added in a kind of frantic politeness. "And, uh, my name is Caz. We met on the skyscraper! Kind of. A bit ago. Aaaaiii can't remember sorry!"

---

Jam was decidedly less blase about the revelation than Rock was, and as Jack approached all abuzz the pink primate could only respond with an eloquent, "Damned if I know."

She cast a quick glance around to the still rough-and-tumbling, but progressively thinning mosh pit, but was drawn back to her prey -- or more specifically, his new pursuer -- via Sheffer's comment.

"He won't make it in time like that..." she mumbled thoughtfully.

Her brows furrowing in focus, the still static-fuzzed simian flexed her hands at her sides, clenching and unclenching her fists, in what looked like some bizarre compulsion; simultaneously, a faint ghost of a sphere flickered around her as her intense gaze once more scanned her surroundings.

"Hey!" she called, springing from the spot, and dashing towards the massive tortoise with a wave of her hands. "Hey, big guy!"

Skidding to a stop just behind Tank's wiry dance partner, she sent a swift palm strike at the curious cylindrical device jutting out the side of its helmet, and fired a powerful, shoving sidekick right into its hip.

"How far up that tower d'you think you can chuck me?"

Tank's head moved in Jam's direction at the 'Hey', but it was only when she addressed him as 'big guy' did he know she was talking to him. He had just finished shoving his mighty boot through somebody's face when she asked her question. "Chowk hyew?" he rrrlepeat repeated in an apprehensive buzz.

But before he could answer, the heavy plodding of berserker footsteps came from behind, and the tortoise momentarily diverted his attention to palming a soldier's fist in his own. In the same motion, he stepped off to the side, planted his foot on the ground like an anchor, and like an Olympian at the shotput, hurled the poor bastard faaarrr over the horizon. He turned back to her with the same attentive eyes. "Hebout that far," he answered.

"That'll work," blurted Jam with a satisfied nod. She lunged forward, but stopped short, pulling her hands in close to her body, as she hesitantly amended, "I'mma need my hands intact, though."

At Tank's enormous feet, she curled into a the smallest, tiniest ball she could squeeze herself into, wrapping her tail tightly around her, before instructing, "Pitch it hard, and let me worry about the landing. I need as high up that tower's possible."

With a brief pause wherein her usually repressed desire to be cool warred with her desire to end Seven, she milked the last bit of effort from the turtle as she knew how, hesitantly adding, "Justice depends on it."

"As hyew weesh," he replied, readily scooping her into his palms. And she may not have seen it herself, but... he just might have been fighting back the sniffles when he heard her last words. "Mehk me prlout," he answered, held her to his shoulder, span once, and with a passionate cry of "POWER FAST-BAWL!" was Jam flung like a bombshell.

Up, up, and away.

It was... surprisingly difficult to remain focused on the task at hand with her mode of transportation's theatrics, but Jam steadied herself, and upon feeling the coolness of the rushing night wind, unfurled just shy of the tower, which seemed as though it would fall just short of her grasp. The sliver of a second before gravity would have had its way, however, the punch-hued primate began to glow, and, as if suddenly a magnet (or perhaps magnetized), she fired forward, right at the metal girder at the center of the arch where Seven had been moments prior, some hundred-or-so feet off the ground.

From there, Jam ascended with a fearless speed, mounting each new slat with an almost unnatural, staggered momentum (most of which, the particularly astute might have noticed seemed to come after she jumped), stopping only to check the progress of the lift.

Key shrugged, her attention clearly on the tower instead of Caz. "No worries. I can't remember half the people I met then. Don't mind if you can't remember, either." Following the lead of the mole, Key bounced up on her tiptoes to get a better view; she could just make out two shapes scaling the tower.

Her fingers twitched. She wanted to be climbing as well, regardless of how bad an idea it would be for her to charge through the battle. If she dashed to the tower and climbed at her peak speed, she might be able to catch up with the white one- Rock? Names were hard.

"Hey. Caz." She asked, turning back to the mole. "Scale of one to ten, how bad of an idea would if be for me to run through that?" To illustrate her point, she gestured to the fray before her.

She really wanted to climb the tower. And, well, if the kid was particularly smart and particularly prepared, he'd be overriding things to make it so they couldn't get to him without forcing their way in, and if it came to that, they might just need someone of her skills after all.

Sheffer watched in unblinking disbelief as the behemoth of a turtle launched his small pink projectile up the side of the tower... and saw her successfully land, already scaling up along with her white partner. Giving a small huff, he looked back to the door of the elevator and thought over his mode of transportation. When the elevator showed up- no, if the elevator showed up, Seven could have easily rigged it with anything he liked. The kid wouldn't be too accepting of the assault on his head, and would more than likely have set up a little trap for a unthinking hedgehog.

He went through the other possibilities, gears turning in his head. The nearest rafter was a hundred feet above, and he doubted he could perform the same feat as Jam did, and he lacked the flight capabilities of some of the other fighters in the battleground...

The base of the tower. That was his only other option.

The hedgehog's feet dug into the ground then, dashing off with one quick bound, sprinting to a randomly chosen beam. Of course, a multitude of the puppet-like soldiers stood in his way, but that was easily solved with another spindash that split right through the masses. Hastily he emerged on the other side of the mob, avoiding the new fires started by the nifty fireworks display he had noticed earlier, caused by an unknown combatant, and finally made it to the base of one of the metal structures.

Moving quickly to the outer side, he stared up the vast incline, the beam curving along as it ascended. He sighed, starting to question the new idea that was growing inside his head, but it was plausible it could work, and he promptly took a few steps back.

Forward into a new roll he went, and the charging began.

Breeeeeeeeeeeeeee....

Faster and faster he went, a complete blur of melded green and blue as he gained the build up he needed. Soon, he was going, from his point of view, at a dizzying speed he never had reached before, the energy reaching a new peak.

...eeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEE-

He released it, shooting forward at a blazing speed thanks to the multiple second charge. Straight to the beam he went, hitting the start of the incline... and spinning right on up, quills digging into the metal surface as some sparks flew, his momentum lifting him to new heights. The farther he went, the steeper it became on the thin path that he could call his ladder, but the overall drive of his spin let him keep going for a moment longer. Finally, his speed began to ebb away as gravity took a stronger hold, at the last second, he came to a somersaulting halt, his feet planting as best as they could on the metal surface of the beam and pushing up. The jump gave him a bit more distance, and he felt the empty air beneath him as he swung his arms forward, fingers grasping for any sort of hold.

Fortunately for him, he conveniently approached one of the numerous rafters, his hands grabbing on tight as he finally came to a stop, dangling high above the ground and the battle below. With a grunt of effort, he pulled himself up, standing atop his new platform as he looked down at the distance he just covered.

Giving a laugh of success (and relief), he continued his journey up, seeing the two nimble primates above him, and he joined in the climb, minimizing the distance between him and the top as he leaped up to the maze-like rafters, planning his jumps accordingly.

Wild Badge looked up as the pale-furred monkey began his climb, and within the next few moments, everyone else were beginning to do their own problem-solving. Jam's was the most like what he would normally do, and given the circumstances, she would likely be the first one to gain an audience with King Dirtbag.

Was is chauvinistic to not want her to have to face him alone for whatever period of time? Well, he didn't put too much time into such lines of thinking, and ran up to Tank after he was done, "She might need some back-up up there. Send me up there, too."

He gestured with a thumb jutting up in the direction he sent Jam. He was no stranger to the Fast-ball Special. It was a regular tool in the Power Mask/Wild Badge bag of tricks, after all.

All he wanted to do was have a good time. Couldn't anybody see that? Was that so wrong? In fact, he even got a compliment amidst the fray. Although, he would've much preferred to be addressed other than 'big ears', but there was no time to gripe about that right now.

Vito was enjoying himself, what with his variety of festive firepower and all, but while he was busy running about and causing further havoc with his weapon of choice, he failed to notice the straggler from Seven's mass of drones, who then proceeded to send out a billowing cloud of flames in the fennec's general direction. Vito's face fell as he was certainly made aware of the rapidly increasing heat to his right, and he looked up just in time to see the wall of fire just dying to get acquainted with his bad self.

Without hesitation, the fox gave out a "Hgrk-!", and pulled off what he considered, at least, to be a rather classy attempt at a back-flip dodge, out of the way of the soldier's attack, his raincoat flopping about before he landed. Ensuring further safety, Vito put some more distance between himself and the flame-throwing foe. Crouched, and grinning cockily, the fennec fox failed to realize that he hadn't been completely unscathed from the maneuver, due to a sudden eruption of colour and sparks from the center of his hat -- which had caught aflame during the whole dodging process.

Vito yelped, and took the brim of the 'fountain hat', and sent it flying, whizzing off towards his aggressor in utmost irritation and panic. To further seal the fate of the swaying soldier, the fox pulled out a miniature sphere and gave it a toss. The orb began bleeping a bright red colour at regular intervals as it flew through the air and landed at the thing's feet. It stopped pulsating, and shone a bright green, before it suddenly exploded into a stunning display of crackling red and green sparks, no doubt either tossing the quarry aside or setting him on red and green fire, if the burning hat hadn't already done that as well.

"Pah ha haaa.. A'right, boy..! That's an emerald, -AND- a hat that you owe me! I'm gonna murder you for this!!!" Reaching into a nifty little sack tied to his beltline, the fennec fox proceeded to chunk handfuls of those same pulsating cherry bombs into the large mob of the soldier's brethren, trying a little harder to keep an eye out for the occasional surprise from wandering enemies.

The jittery soldier twitched violently as the hat approached, batting it out of the air with both hands. As the fire-bomb came rolling in, the soldier jerked again and lashed out with a kick—not before the thing burst, however. As the soldier's foot reached the firebomb, the device exploded, and in an instant the soldier was enveloped in a wall of hissing chemical fire.

The flames wavered, and then—as they began to die down—split into two. One burning shape pulled away from the inferno, and staggered out into the field of battle, batting at its visor.

It bobbled its helmeted head violently in a noiseless scream, and whipped its hand out in the direction of the Fennec fox—sending a torrent of sparks splashing off the ground around it. Then, just as noiselessly as before, the strange soldier became a well of incandescent flames. Blazing gas–blue-and-orange fire shot out of its fist in a rolling stream. The thing spun in a circle, and a rising ring of fire began to form around it. As the soldier kept pouring flames into the air, the ring curled into an ascending mushroom cloud, as the flames ate up the air faster than new air could rush in. Debris began to roll towards the angry soldier-creature—pop cans and wrappers drifting and skipping across the damp pavement as they were caught up in the rushing wind which pulled everything around up into the furnace.

The extent of the in-turning vortex would disrupt everything nearby, pulling on Ember nearly as much as it pulled on Wild Badge and the extensive, immovable Tank who, along with Jack and Target, the capsule trooper, were in the thick of the fight, and thus much closer to the centre of the heat-wave.

In the middle, the increasingly angry soldier could be seen, wheeling and spinning and churning more fire into the sky.

Above, there was a loud, metallic groan. The surface of the tower had broken out in thousands of tiny bubbles as paint began to peel and crackle off the lower rungs of the tower. The lower bars of the structure began to super-heat, and the air was filled with a gentle crackling sound as the light bulbs that kept the lower segments of the tower illuminated started popping.
