Sonic Spindash RP is closed.

Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.

It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

"Momentum, huh...," he echoed. Ace glanced at his shoes for a second and let out a puff from his nose. Choosing the right thing to say with Rock always seemed like a jigsaw puzzle with words.

"Well, yeah, we hit 'em hard tonight," he answered, "But you know it's not gonna be that easy. Getting a handle on these emeralds, we've still got a ways to go, y'know? Even without those guys. An' I'm not saying we've got nothin' to look forward to, but you don't have to push yourself like this. You prolly need the most rest out of all of us."

As Rock sat there with all his bruises and welts, adhesive bandages on his face, and all the other unseen damage from boxing, fighting Coop, getting shot with a grenade launcher, and battling his way out of a GUN base all hidden under his uniform, he began to look... aware of the truth of what Ace was saying. He kind of looked down at himself, fingering a fresh bullethole in his uniform and frowning, then shifted his gaze off to the side in some sort of indifferent admission.

"Yeah," he muttered.

...

From his seated position on the van's floorboard, he leaned and reached back, pulled his duffel bag out from under the seat he'd been riding in, and fished out a little waterproof canister. He produced a considerable wad of bills from it (what remained of the money he'd been supplied with earlier, sans equipment costs), thumbed through them, then foisted a large chunk of it on the cat. It was one grand, even.

"I appreciate the help," he said in a distant tone, while sorting out Sheffer's cut as well. "It ain't enough for the risks you took, but maybe you can get you'n Caz somethin' nice when this blows over..."

He stood up with a sort of grunting lunge to go give the hedgehog his due, too.

The hedgehog in question had situated himself only a few feet from van, seeming almost lost for a moment as his neck arched back, staring blankly at the stars of the night sky. He only caught snatches of Rock and Ace's conversation, but then again, he wasn't even attempting to listen. Fatigue was gradually taking a hold on him once more, and every so often, his eyelids would droop a margin down, only for him to give a shake of his head in an attempt to stay somewhat aware of his surroundings.

It took Sheffer a moment to realize the monkey was lumbering his way on over, and another to see what lay in his hand. A quizzical brow raised then, giving Rock a perplexed stare as he approached.

The serval breathed out a muted, night-time smile while Rock went to work sifting through whatever he was sifting through, but had to fight back his own pleasant surprise when he realized it was a fat wad of money. Money for him.

And to be honest, he'd kind of forgotten he was getting paid for this in the first place.

Forcing the urge to go 'woah, nice' down his throat, he settled for the much humbler option of folding it into his back pocket with a grin that just barely showed any teeth. "Hey, that's what I'm here for," he answered, and would walk alongside him until he reached Caz again. She might be a little less subtle with her appreciation of the money, but someone had to be.

Rock glanced at Ace one more time—uncertainly, maybe with just a hint of a tired smirk—before just shaking his head.

He stopped in front of Sheffer. Unceremoniously, he held out his hand and stuck the money in the hedgehog's direction. It was rolled up tightly much like Ace's, so as to not make a spectacle of the payment, but it was still a considerable wad, and the same amount the aforementioned cat had been given.

"Your pay," explained Rock curtly. As if contemplating the words of a foreign language he had never uttered, he hesitated, then tacked on an abrupt-sounding compliment: "You did good."

"That's all the pay I've got lined up for anybody, though," he quickly amended in disclaimer, "so don't feel obligated to hang around any longer than you have to."

Sheffer took his sweet time unrolling the wad of cash, giving the amount a quick look over, appearing impressed.

"Guess this makes my night," he said, shuffling through the dough one last time before stuffing it into his pocket. "Didn't know I was getting paid for this whole shindig, instead of the 'helping by free will' deal." He showed a satisfied grin, giving a nod to Rock, not acknowledging much to the fact the primate had actually complimented him for the first time in their ever-so-lovely relationship, but still sounding contented. "'Precciate it."

With a pocket full of cash and a tired mind and body, he shuffled on over to the van, leaning against its side, not clambering in just yet as he looked back to the others. "Don't know where I'm headed just yet. Not particularly gleeful of going back to get my face smashed in by some bloke with gloves."

"So that's what they're up to!" Trillium mused quietly to herself. Stealth wasn't her strong point, but she could keep herself hidden in a pinch. Though she was hidden nearby, she hadn't overheard the entire conversation, but she knew enough. Trillium cast a brief glance around, and before she could be seen, flew quickly out of sight.

OOC: Nice to see that you're back. Unfortunately, this thread hasn't been active for a while, and was supposed to have been locked. All the characters currently here have already moved on to two other threads since then. If you were just been trying to retroactively say that your character was there in order to set up for future involvement, then it isn't really any big problem, but I do recommend that you give the forum chat a shot so you can meet other players and get an idea of a good place to get involved.

(For the record, though, you never actually told anyone you were done with your character profile, so it it never got reviewed. I guess the fact that you're trying to play the character should be a big enough tip-off that you're done, so we went ahead and reviewed it. Please check the note at the top of your character profile.)
