If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Jack returned the deers smirk turning to look at the emerald. Given her previous encounters being around it made her uneasy. It seems that the presence of one of these rocks will always result in some kind of chaos and destruction.

"Heh. It is bright in an unsettling sort of way. Ever seen anything like it?" She asked. Done with the buffet she stood beside the deer for the conversation. Smiling a bit as if she was interested in the pale red deer.

Tracers plan was brilliant in its simplicity, the birds reaction confirmed what the terrorist had suspected. She did know this bird, and apparently made an impression as well. Tracers arm shot out grabbing the girls shoulder and pulling her into a one armed hug.

"What's your hurry?" She said her voice containing absolute calm as she continued. Pulling Ember out of the hug she kept firm hand on the dull colored bird's shoulder. "Don't you want to see the Vince?"

There was a buzzing in Ember's hand and her heart felt as though it was going to tear through her chest. Maybe, just maybe, she could get out of this alive. Letting out deep breath she closed her eyes and attempted to relax herself. After only a few seconds her eyes opened again and her face adopted a haughty look. Very similar to the one Mary had given the bird.

"Vince? I'm afraid not. I was never much for his type. Far too full of himself. Now if you excuse me I have things I must do.", she commented. Reaching onto her shoulder she attempted to brush off the llama's hand. "I'm sure you would adore him though."

It was a far reach yes. But Ember suspected that her disguise was working since the woman hadn't said anything about their last meeting. So maybe just pretend to be some uptight socialite. The myna bird was glad she had Mary for a unknowing teacher.

Archer glanced at the griffon as she interrogated him. His hands making their way into his pockets as he watched the glistening gem. He laughed, "Nope... It sure is something." He said prefering to keep to himself that he HAD in fact seen another Chaosol Emerald. Probably better that way.

"How about you?" He asked, finally.

Jack smiled softly at him and gave him a slight shrug brushing back some curls from her face. "Do you dance?"

As she said this she offered her hand to him. Jack didn't love dancing like her mother, she didn't practice anymore but it's hard to forget all those singing and dancing lessons she had as a child. Besides, the deer was kind of cute if you go for the mild-mannered reporter type. She didn't, but that wouldn't stop her from trying to squeeze information out of him.

"Lets go for a walk." Tracer said with a cant of her head as she pulled Ember closer, her hand tightening on the birds little shoulder.

Tracer started to shuffle the girl away from the line and the front of the ball room, her arm over her shoulders to give her control over her look a little less conspicuous.

"I'm going to say this once, birdie. Coop isn't hear to stop me from killing you. And I'm not here to save anyone from anything, I'm hear to hurt people. I can start with you, or you could cooperate. Those are your options."

'So much for that plan', thought the bird bitterly as she was forcibly escorted from the line.

Letting out a deep sigh, Ember fiddled with the ribbon tied around her wrist. Dropping the disguised voice she responded with, "I doubt big bird would've stopped ya. But whatever. You know what I'm going to pick anyways." The bird couldn't help but crack a small smile. "What do I need to do to keep my tail feathers on?"

Archer looked at the griffon again as she asked him about dancing. A coy smirk curled on his lips in response, not quite having expected to get a dance in while here. After all, he was here with an agenda. With a quick glance around for Tracer, and having lost here, he took her hand.

"Oh well... Tracer will give me a cue." He thought. After all, everything she did involved explosions of some kind.

"Not normally...but hey, it's a ball." He answered after pulling her close and snaking his other arm around her waist. He swung his foot out behind him in a subtle kick to his briefcase on the floor, sending it sliding under a table before leading her out to open floor.

Mary watched all four of them from her stance in the line. So far, not good, thought the lamb chewing her lip. Really not good, but there was nothing she could do about it now. Oh sure, maybe "Bella" was making use of her time with the buck in the back, but Ember? "Oh man.." Mary groaned, massaging her head. She couldn't hear what they were saying, but she could already tell from the way the llama was reacting she was far too interested in her for comfort. Either she just swung for the same sex or had recognized Ember just as much as the bird did her. Maybe it was both, but Mary shuddered at the thought of what that might've implied. Either way, the most important problem was Ember's cover and whether or not it was blown yet. If it had been, she'd be putting a serious crimp in their mission, but if birdbrain actually caved and started blabbing at the mouth, that'd just make it worse.

Mary sucked her teeth and reached for her purse, to unclip her phone. She still had ways to go before she'd finally be up front so she may as well put the time to good use, she decided, punching some numbers. If she were lucky, Ember wasn't too freaked out yet to pick up.

The sheriff was actually a little surprised he accepted, and so gracefully. He swept her out into the dance floor. Jack couldn't help but smile, the last thing she expected from this mission was to actually have any fun. Sure enough she was dancing with some stranger in a ball.

"Hehe. I don't even know you're name." She said as they spun around the dance floor. "You can call me Bella."

-----

The llama dressed in the metallic gold dress looked thoughtfully at Ember, considering the request. She stopped abruptly when the bird's phone started to go off. Tracer glanced around the ball room, noting the people evidently on their phones, and held her hand out for Ember to hand the device over.

Tracers eyes wondered a little more then she looked at Ember, so long as the bird complied with the demand for the phone there would be no farther harm.

"Quite nosy."

"Eh. I prefer noisy than creepy never talking people." the bird mumbled as she pulled the phone from the bodice of her dress. Who would be calling her anyways? Few people had her number and even fewer actually called her.

Before she handed over the phone to the waiting llama, Ember managed to sneak a look at the ID Name. Mary. A nervous chuckle came from the girl as she dropped the ringing phone into Tracer's open hand.

"Justa friend." she explained as she attempted to pull off an innocent look.

(OOC: Collab with Kazz)

Meanwhile, outside the hotel of justice...

Things were... rather quiet, actually. One might even go so far as to say peaceful. The moon was calming, the skies were lovely, and even the fireworks seemed gentle and nurturing. But the threat of evil could rear its head whenever you least expect it. And if there was one soul alive who knew this truth... it was Power Mask.

And it was this Power Mask who laid in wait for this inevitable evil, hidden away by the shooting streams of water from the untypically large fountain resting at the foot of the place. So stealthy was he in his purple tights, that the only extension of his being visible to the naked eye was his miniature Power-Periscope peeking out of the water.

Less acutely tuned to the forces of evil, a fish floated belly-up in the water next to the submerged tortoise. He could almost be taken for dead if not for the occasional belly-scratch and the unmistakable over-dramatic motions of fake snoring.
Mako's eyes so slowly opened, and he peered up, then over at the power-periscope, then finally at the user thereof.

"Blubblugbuhblubblub blub?" he inquired, before he paused, realized his voice would not carry in water, and he gently tapped Tank on what he was sure was his Power Shoulder. Hoping his companion could read lips, he mouthed:

Wait-- why do I have to be here?

The tortoise gave Mako a look.

Rather, he did eventually. The first thing he did was eye him confusedly, rather than give an actual 'look', per se. The second was spend about four seconds folding, sliding, and generally compacting his underwater device. Then he spent a little longer reaching back and shoving it up whatever space in his shell he shoved his gadgets. Then he gave Mako a look. He mouthed his reply in a similar fashion, cupping one hand over his mouth as if it helped.

What?

Mako looked like he was about to say something more, but he thought better of it. He paused. He looked thoughtful. Then he pointed upwards, before he took off, his head breaking free of the surface of the water, in mere moments. His gills flared, and were the tortoise to follow him, he would find himself asked:

"We've been sitting here for the past hourrrrr."
(He actually had no idea how long it had been, and it had certainly not been an hour, but that was completely beside the point.) He looked a bit longingly at the hotel. In there: food. Out here: not food. This clearly posed a problem to the shark.

"... and stay out."

The line was cliched, but nigh universally recognizable, and almost always accompanied...

*Whoosh*

... by someone being projectile-ejected from an establishment.

"Hnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaa-"

That was the unpleasantly prolonged nasal grunt that escaped Juke the Bat as he was hurled from the curb by security, deliberately into the fountain—unknowingly straight at Tank and Mako.

"-aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh-"

*Plersh*

Headfirst into the drink. The bat's head emerged between the two would-be crimefighters, shooting water out his flaring nostrils and hacking and coughing and choking and flailing like he was drowning.

"HGGAHG. HGGGHAGH. HAGH HAGH HAGH. HAGHHHHGGGGGGHH."

Splash, splash, splash.

"Ogghoghhghgh."

He coughed up a nickel from the fountain's bottom.

Embers comment about the ill mannered llama seemed to fall on deaf ears as she took the phone. She relived Ember of her cell phone then flipped it open just to read the caller ID. Tracer then raised her eyes, glancing around the room for anyone on their phone. As there where many reporters all whom have just been able to verify Vince has a Chaosol emerald, it was pretty clear that she wasn't going to be able to identify the caller.

With a snort her fist closed around the mobile device, then she held her hand out to hand it back the Ember. Of course, this is after she squeezed the device so hard it made a crunching noise as the ringing came to an abrupt stop.

"You're survival is likely if you tell me what you're doing here." Tracer said turning to look at the muddy painted bird.

Gingerly taking the phone back, Ember took a moment to take in the damage. The now black sceen was cracked and a few buttons were loose and hanging on by a few wires. With a few seconds of quiet remberance for the faithful device, Ember closed it up and placed it back into the bodice of her dress.

"That was a v-day gift ya know. Now you've gone and chrushed by poor heart.", she said with just a trace of bitterness. Reaching up to the side of her head she tugged free the hair bobble that was keeping her feathers in the style. Really, it did little to help her and her feathers felt as though they were about to pulled out. Feeling oh so much better now, she glanced around the room avoiding looking at Tracer.

"Maaan I don't even know really. All I know is I was dragged here and forced into this stupid dress. I think I'm the fall guy ya know. I just wanted to eat breakfast and wham! Now I'm here. That chick was scary ya know. I mean you could take a few pointers from her. I guess we just wanted to see if the big cheese was going to show off that jewel."

The lie came out easier since eye contact was being avoided. Though it helped that not all of it was a lie. She spied Mary in the line and mentally winced. The spunky reporter was not going to be happy with her.

"And he did. I can't say no to a party and free food. I heard that had those fancy little crackers."

"You can call me Derrick." He said, with a glance down at his press pass. It was a pretty generic name. He smiled as they danced to the music.

Speaking of Dispensers of Justice, the scarfed hero took the high position, crouching on the edge of an adjacent building, golden scarf blowing in the night breeze. The fountain, and the main entrance to the building both in sight. He used the zoom function on his helmet when he saw some unusual movement. Particularly the projectile-ejected bat who went flying into the fountain where his cohorts were hiding.

It all happened too fast for him to send warning, opting instead to point out the obvious, "Mask? Someone's in the water with you. Are you alright?" He called via radio. No doubt Power Mask was supplied with a water-proof ear piece to keep in touch.
