It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

OOC: I don't normally like to quote in a lot of dialogue people have already written, but it just feels conducive to this post, so pardon this little RP faux-paux.

Rock gave a thoughtful, narrow-eyed look back toward the other (extremely unamused) boxer, then back to Mack. Right when he was about to say something, though, some well-dressed chap walked up and congratulated him glowingly. Well, that made the monkey suspicious, being where he was, and being that the complementing fellow was mustachioed rabbit in evening formal-wear in a gym. He nonetheless listened to his introduction.

"Ah,... nice t—" he started to reply, but Basil beat him to any further introductions by already knowing his name.

"Judging by the fellow you just fought and knocked off the roster, I'm going to assume you are Mr. Lochert. 'Rock', as you would prefer, correct..?"

Rock's expression hardened a little again, as it tended to do around people who liked to flap their gums a lot. "... Yeah, that's—"

"Although, I don't recognize you as any of the contenders at all... Perhaps, family that's present to cheer him on in his mission to take the cup?"

Rock blinked very deliberately, once, then twice, and licked his lip. Jacques had been nothing short of "polite," but the primate's agitation and distrust was visibly rising as the rabbit's sincerity suffered due to his fast talking and flounce. Without bothering to even try to say anything else, Rock just turned to Mack and thrust his well-tied gloves out for some help.

Somewhat inversely to the amount of joy Mack's trolling of the dangerous pro-boxer was bringing him, Jam grew progressively less haughty, and had begun to inch closer to him and his protege on the assumption that Rock might soon have another fight on his hands. the strawberry-pink simian's concern was soon eclipsed however, the very instant Lord Stuffy von Fancypants swept over in all of his pip-pip-puffery and flouncy words.

With a dubious sort of, "Is this guy for real?" expression, Jam's brows furrowed toward Rock as the hare's attention shifted to her.

"Um," Was all she could really think to say while her brain wrestled with the implications of Rock's evident recognizability and its bearing on their little quest.

"Not family, no, er-- I'm sorry, who'd you say you were, again?"

"Aah, f'geddum, kid," was all the gruffly delivered, albeit sagely advice Mack had for the white primate. Quickly and firmly, he worked the laces of Rock's gloves loose, tugging them cleanly off in two smooth motions, knotting them together, and slinging them over his shoulder like a seasoned pro.

"Y'gonna have fish t'fry dat's bigger'n him," he advised somewhat forebodingly, with a deceptively heavy-handed slap to the deltoid.

There was a pause, as the jackrabbit ceased his chatter momentarily to give the scenario another look-over. After a moment's thought, he seemed to come to the conclusion that his entrance was a bit too... abrasive. He cleared his throat, and adjusted his tie a mite as he glanced off to his right... "Er... pardon me, I let myself go just a bit, there... I'll try again - My name is Basil Jacques. Detective and, incidentally, fellow competitor. And you..?" He gestured to Jam upon the end of that inquiry, extended a gloved hand in the event a handshake was in order.

For several, socially awkward moments, Jam eyed the hand proffered her as if she'd never seen one before. Eventually, stiffly, and hesitantly, she reached up to greet it with her own.

"Jam," she said simply, momentarily lost in the task of trying to picture the prim and proper rabbit throwing punches in a pair of trunks. Try though she might, however, she couldn't imagine it without the monocle, top hat, and a dainty little cup of tea in one hand.

"I'm uh, ... the entourage," amended the monkey in a half-mumble, as she jerked a thumb back towards Rock. "I guess."

The detective gave the monkey a firm shaking of the hand before releasing her to grasp at his cane again. "Pleasure to meet y', Jam." He gazed over to Rock with a quirked brow, his mustache fluff twitching a mite as he thought to himself.. "Yes, good show, that one..." Basil gave Mack a bit of an odd stare, before he moseyed on to an empty chair, and huffed as he acquired a seat.. "Hrm..."

Cough.

"So, I am curious... What are your thoughts in regards to our glorious host, sir Vince...?"

Rock flexed his fingers, his hands freed of their cushioned, synthetic face-beating garments. He grinned at the old man with some growing fondness for his rude, gruff behavior, shoulder slaps and all, and began peeling his handwraps off as he swaggered away toward the door. There were a lot more competitors who had business to take care of.

"Well, I'm gonna go... bury my face in cold-packs, or somethin'," he said, only half kidding. "You gonna be up here later?"

With almost macabre amusement, the squishie monkey's plans for his face wrought a most disturbing smile from the old fowl. The stark white florescent lighting threw into sharp relief just how battered and scarred a life of boxing could leave a person, and something in that crooked grin seemed to wordlessly promise Rock that today would be a ride on the trolley compared to what was in store.

Still, the expression seamlessly segued into one of benign interest, as, rocking back and forth in his sneakers, with hands in his pocket, he replied (with no shortage of subtext), "Oh, I'll be around, kid."

"Well--" blurted Jam in premature reply. "I mean, the guy sort of reeks of sleeze and hidden cards."

She shrugged impassively, allowing her head to fall to a matching cant, and in doing so, immediately noticed a pressing lack of Rock in her periphery. With a flurry of seeking glances, the missing object of her veneration was found, and several, less-than-graceful backwards steps carried the pink monkey off after him.

"Not that I've ever even met the dude, but ... Anyway. My... uh. He's -- I'm gonna ...go with him."

With a meaningful sideways nod of her head towards the whiter primate, while still looking at the dignified rabbit, Jam twiddled her fingers in parting.

"I guess we'll be seein' more of each other, so... good luck."

And with that, she turned, and scurried off. As she caught up with Rock, the acoustics of the expansive room yielded near-perfect echo of a crisp smack and a grumbled, "Thanks for waiting."

"Hey, jus' givin' you an excuse to get away from Talky McDapperstache, so y'welcome," he retorted with a grin, his whisper just audible enough for her to hear over the sounds of sweaty men beating one another senseless.

Basil raised his brow, and gave the monkeys a farewell wave of his hand. The gentleman sat back in his chair, watching the two of them leave as he rubbed his chin with the diamond-topped cane... He was used to this sort of reaction from anyone when it came down to idle chatter -- the detective wasn't exactly a social man, and it probably showed simply by his very presence. To their sudden departure, he wasn't surprised.

Of course... there was something else that was on his mind... Though, it was a subject that would have to wait until he could try again with Rock later. Eying the surroundings of the training facility, the jackrabbit merely sighed, and stood back up again, taking his leave towards the changing rooms. It was high time to begin his own practicing, after all..

Sometime later in the day, Rock and Jam found themselves outside, wandering the neatly-kept grounds surrounding the coliseum. The building was very multipurpose—with its many guest rooms and large, arena-like auditorium, it could easily serve as an entire sub-hotel for conventions, or sporting events (such as the present one, where the rooms were being used for competitors), or anything, really.

But at the moment, it was the farthest thing from interesting. It was inhumanly dull, reeked of stinky boxers, and had absolutely nothing fun to do. So it's for that reason that, after getting cleaned up and getting his normal clothes back on, Rock had led the way in search of anything even remotely interesting.

And so they stood in front of a directory near the monorail station, staring at the map.

"... Casino. Hotel. Theater." His recitation was flat as week-old soda. "You'd think a place like this would have an amusement park, or... arcade, or... somethin'."

He leaned in closer and searched more intently. Perhaps the reality of just how long they'd be there was setting in.

With a frown much resembling a child being withheld a cookie, Jam set her hands on her hips and shook her head.

"With all this space? Even if it ain't on the board, there's gotta be more than this, or Spiny's definitely hiding something..."

There was a defeated shrug steeped in disappointment, before she amended, "Which, I dunno, could maybe be fun..?"

Rock's nose scrunched ever so and his head shook dismissively. "Wha' he's hidin' I don't care to find," he mumbled with a glance around to doubly ensure no staff was in earshot. With a glance to Jam, and a nod toward the monorail, he took a couple turning steps back and started away. "S'all the same," he added. "Couldn't find the emerald with the tools we got now if we wanted to, anyway."

When suddenly, from just around the corner (and in the general direction of the monorail system entrance) two familiar-looking mammals sifted their way together through the small crowd, hugging their arms at their sides in the chilly Metropolis air.

"Oh! Hey guys!" Caz called out, taking one hand out of her windbreaker's pockets to offer a friendly wave. She was looking especially cheery, today-- likely the end results of a good old fashioned night out. "'Ow you doin'? Hahaha 'ow you doin'?"

Ace followed suit, so to speak. He wasn't quite as springy as per usual, but certainly in a good mood nonetheless-- likely the end result of their good old fashioned night out being an all expenses paid kind. He waved hello with a friendly grin, and made his way to the other couple on the grounds.

"Hey there," he greeted warmly. "You two enjoying the scenery so far?"
As he spoke, Caz seemed content to lean on his arm and bounce subtly on the ball of her left foot.
