Updates Sonic Spindash RP is closed.Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.
It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

Mako's eyebrows shot up as he entered the moth's lodging. Partially from all the things he had managed to tow in, partially because of the moth's sunny mood. Trailing behind the hedgehog, he found himself unable to resist the temptation to stick his nose into things, eyes drifting to every flashing light and beeping thing he could find. It was hard not to act on his first impulses, most of which consisting of "POKE IT!". He just knew the doctor too well, and was possibly justified in thinking that the most innocent-looking things would quickly turn him to shark-fin soup.
"Uh, what he said," he said lamely, thoroughly distracted.

"Thinking about cutting to the chase, eh?" Henshin said wryly over his shoulder to the pair (but eying the curious shark a little longer). "Well. I can't blame you. That stone is too dangerous to be a prize," he grimly declared.
"I was hoping it'd be as simple as detecting it and swiping it, too," the moth explained as he scooted things around, and plugged what looked like some sort of microscope into an outlet on the workbench—busywork largely unrelated to the discussion, basically. "It's actually kind of interesting. These new emeralds have erratic wavelength properties... At some moments, they're producing chaos rays, others, gamma rays, x-rays, UV rays..."
He shuffled over to a suitcase and started digging for something.
"That said, it's extremely hard to track them. The only reason we were able to before was because there were two of the emeralds directly side by side—the one Hoji found, and the one your human friend made off with." He stood and turned around, holding a cube-shaped box. "It's kind of complicated, and I don't fully understand it myself, yet, but, in simplest terms: the emeralds' patterns are random, but they're also synchronized, so when two are close enough to interact, a sort of cancellation occurs that leaves only a stable, strong, more easily traceable signal."
This in no way answered Sheffer's question, and he knew it. He nonetheless held out the small, glossy-orange, round-cornered 10cm x 10cm plastic box to the hedgehog as if it would help. It had a single flip-latch and push-button release on the front, and could open like a clam shell.

The hedgehog's first response was to only blink and try to eat up all the information the doctor had just spouted. With a slight understanding of what the doctor actually said, he was still confused if Henshin had actually answered his question or not, looking down at the small object he held, confused.
"Okay, so if two emeralds are together, the easier they are to track..." he muttered, reaching and taking the orange object from the doctor's hands. "So, what am I supposed to do with this?"

"Well, for starters, open it," Henshin instructed. "And give me my box back. It's expensive."
If Sheffer did as asked, he would find what looked like the yellow Chaosol Emerald within. It was kind of odd, perhaps, since Henshin was supposed to have left it in his vault back on South Island.
"It's a fake," the moth quickly added. "I tried to synthesize it from the real one in hopes of better understanding its radiation, but it didn't quite come out ... right. But!" He raised a finger with an excited look. "It reacts viole—vuh-vrr... very... obviously when it's close to the real deal. Get slightly under a hundred meters from the real emerald, and you should feel a slight tingling sensation from the stone."
He quickly dug something else out of his luggage.
"You can keep it in this fashionable-but-sensible Wild Fanny Pack," he declared proudly and thrusted the shameless Wild Badge merch toward its surely-equally-proud new owner.

Mako paused. He paused some more.
He paused even more. And then he looked at the objects in Sheffer's hand. "... so we're gonna have to run around with that in our pants." He paused yet again, and looked down to observe his own habit of running around decidedly sans trousers. "... in Sheff's pants." Okay, that kinda sounded weird. But he was not deterred.
The shark cleared his throat, coughing into his hand, and then outright bellowed: "WE'RE GOING TO GET MUGGED!"

"Nonsense, child...!" dismissed the doctor, fluttering up next to him and giving him an awkward pat on the shoulder in hopes of being comforting. "The security on Vince's property is so high that not only is it virtually impossible for you to get mugged, but you'll also be lucky to even get to search for the emerald at all!"
Well, that was a new obstacle. It seemed that the thought just struck Henshin at about the same time as he said it. He fittingly adopted a constipated expression and frowned in consideration of their new challenge.

Sheffer attempted to hide his distaste as he looked at the fanny-pack.
"Um, thanks doc," he said, taking the pack while at the same time slipping the fake emerald into his back pocket. Awkwardness averted for the moment being.
He then brought his attention to the new obstacle now made clear.
"Then how are we going to just run around looking for this thing?" asked Sheffer, frowning slightly. "Unless you have some patented Wild Invisibility Spray, I don't think we're going to get anywhere without having some security patting us down."

Dr. Henshin scratched his forehead and wondered. It really was slightly complicated.
"As I'm sure you know, this entire resort is on top of a huge building," he explained, albeit a little quietly and slowly, as if thinking it through as he talked. "A lot of the infrastructure is below the surface... You just need some way to get down there."
He hovered over to his nightstand and sat on the edge of his bed. There was a brochure with a map on it. "I noticed earlier that there's a large section of the resort that's off-limits. It looks like a storage facility or something," he pondered aloud, tapping buttons on his wrist computer. His goggles lit up soon afterward. He was surfing the web.
"Mm... ah. It's a warehouse. Used to store fireworks... Seems there was a well-publicized accident a few years ago that shut it down! Perhaps there's a way to access the underground through there," he concluded hopefully.
Not yet done foisting things upon them, he soon rifled through his suitcase and produced yet more goodies: Little handheld radio communicators... branded with the Wild Badge logo. Of course.
"Take these Wild-Talkies with you. I'll have some sort of distraction ready so that you boys can get to the warehouse without being detected. Just say the word whenever you have your party together and you're in position."

Taking the walkie-talkies from the doctor's hands, he gave a nod.
"Can do, doc. We'll try to be quick." The plan sounded like it could work, Sheffer wondering what could possibly be down below there very feet.
The hedgehog took a moment to study the brochure Henshin had looked at only a moment before, memorizing the way to the warehouse. It really wasn't that far of a distance from the hotel, and shouldn't take too long for them to arrive there.
"Let's go, Mako," he said to the blue-hued shark, heading to the door. "Think we need to find anyone before we head over there?"

And just in the nick of time...
Hoji peeked into the room, looking a little lost, but when he saw who was in the room, he looked a lot less lost. He stepped into the room just in time to see the conversation come to a close.
"Oh, good. You found it. I uh...got stopped for autographs. When I turned around, you guys were gone." He said scratching the back of his head with a nervous laugh. "What'd I miss?"

At the sight of the raccoon, Sheffer immediatelly tossed one of the Wild-Talkies his way.
"Goin' treasure huntin', Mr. Idol," explained the hedgehog. "The doc has a general idea where the emerald may be, and I'll be damned if someone gets it besides us in this tournament. Might as well get this done and over with."
"C'mon, we're heading to a warehouse nearby." Sheffer brushed past Hoji into the hall, heading towards the nearest elevator.

Hoji tilted his head back in a slight flinch as he caught the walkie... it being tossed at him abruptly threw him off guard a bit, but he caught the device easily enough. As Sheffer summerized the situation, he nodded.
"Oh.." He trailed off as Sheffer brushed by him, "Kay." He said before glancing back at the decrepit moth. Then followed Sheffer since he apparently knew where they were going.

Mako had been wearing an expression of true distaste, and seemed lost in the abyss of his fishy thoughts, ever since being informed of where they were being shoved off to inspect, so much that he almost didn't react to Hoji's appearance at all beyond a dazed "Hi, Hoji" as the raccoon had popped up.
"If there's a single ghost, or anything vaguely like that," he informed the hedgehog, as he fiddled with the Wild-Talkie he held, "I am leaving then and there."
He paused as he trailed behind Sheffer, blinked a few times, and he seemed to come out of his trance... and then said: "... when'd Hoji get here? Hi!"
Observative, this one.

((OOC: Hope no one minds the small jump forward here.))
It wasn't long before the trio arrived at the bottom floor of the hotel, walking through the busy lobby and out onto the street. Instantly, the sights overtook Sheffer once more, but they lost some of their significance, the light of the day having dimmed the lights from the night before.
Relying on his memory, he lead the other two through the streets. Soon, a large fence that stretched out in both directions faced them at the end of a road barely walked upon. Beyond it, Sheffer could see the standing structure of the warehouse, the windows cracked and a majority of the top half of the highest story simply gone. Scattered remains of fireworks surrounded the area beyond the fence, some even still littered about the street nearby. The words DO NOT ENTER repeated themselves dozens of times in the form of yellow strips, wrapping around the fence in warning.
"We're almost there, doc," said Sheffer, lifting the Wild-Talkie to his mouth, connecting with the moth on the other side. "Big mess too. Looks like this place was bombed..."

Mako looked a tad cautiously at the building that lay ahead, then at the ground. "... or fireworked, huh?" he added, still fiddling with his Wild-Talkie idly. He cocked an eyebrow at the remains of the fireworks left about, and coughed. "Hope none'a these things are still, uh, kaboom-capable."
He sighed, though, and lifted the Wild-Talkie. "If we get blown up -- " and then he paused, and cringed. Sheff had his rocks and Hoji had his suit, leaving Mako the only one without any form of protection if anything did go off, or if any disaster at all struck. "... if I get blown up," he ammended after a minute, "you'd better give me some cool robotic prosth-- prostho-- prothes-- ... replacement parts."
