Updates Sonic Spindash RP is closed.Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.
It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

"Guess we know who's really on the run," he said just loud enough to be heard, almost jeering. He didn't seem bothered by the turn of events, though. As soon as they started getting farther away, he dropped from his perch and started walking the other way.
"Tag set and confirmed," reported the boy to... someone, via his headset. "You getting a signal from BIU-D yet?"
As he listened to some unheard voice on the other end of the line, he pulled an unmarked spray can from under his jacket and rolled it around in his hand. It looked fairly normal, but the topper was highly advanced, and had a small display, several buttons, and so on. "No, no, totally undetected," he replied. "The old guy had some kind of adverse reaction to the aerosol, but it passed for smog... There's no need to worry. They're not bright—they seriously think I'm working for Humpty..."
And with that, he was out of their hair, for the time being at least.

Meanwhile, the second group—comprised of the mole, the two monkeys and the cat—was genteelly taking in the slightly less pristine ground floor streets of Westside city, when who should come around the corner—striding in the opposite direction they were headed and looking for all the world like a slightly over-burdened and mildly menacing tourist—but Coop, the bandoliered, be-masked and very tall eagle who had blown up approximately one third of a military base back in Central City. He was not wearing his bandoliers, or his blast mask. He was, however, holding a duffel bag, and looking only slightly, marginally surprised.
He carefully put down the duffel bag, which was huge and oblong and red and black and very nearly dragged along the ground anyway, hanging as it did from the end of one of Coop's long, orangutan arms. It had numerous pockets and zippers along its various panels, but absolutely none of them appeared very full except the centre compartment, which bulged awkwardly, as if it had been stuffed with pumpkins and old iron fencing.
For a few short seconds, Coop eyed the four of them. He appeared somewhat wary, apparently undecided as to what to do next.

Ace and Caz would probably be wondering why their walk along the gritty streets was so suddenly interrupted when Rock caught sight of the large avian, and why he stopped dead in his tracks.
Pedestrians on the sidewalk roved past, weaving around them and burly Coop with palpable irritation showing in their faces, but for all it mattered, the bystanders may as well have not been there. Rock stared the bird down wordlessly, one fist clenched (it had just sort of frozen that way with the original small shock reaction), and one foot slightly behind the other.
Cue lone tumbleweed and single, tense guitar strum. Well, maybe not.

And of course, Jam all but ran smack into Rock's backside, completely and utterly robbing the scene of any possible dramatic tension (at least for Coop, were he to see it) as the grapefruit-hued monkey windmilled her arms while teetering on the balls of her feet fighting valiantly to maintain the sliver of space that remained between her and the leading primate's shoulder blades.
Finally, after hurling herself into a pathetic, barely-saved backwards stumble, she righted herself just in time to send her jaw screaming to the filthy sidewalk below upon catching sight of the vast eagle. With furrowed brows, she, too, grew instantaneously tense, yet she remained surprisingly non-confrontational in posturing. She did, however, cast a couple of distrustful sweeps out over the crowds in the immediate area, perhaps in wary search of antlers or shoulder-mounted cannons.

Caz was probably not the first to realize that something was suddenly, invariably up, but she might have been the first to question it. She looked to Rock, who was obviously quite perturbed about something. Searching for clues to his sudden change of mood, she stumbled across an eagle that was admittedly hard to miss, behaving in a manner scarily similar to his.
Putting two and two together, and subsequently coming up with five, she shot a very concerned looking glance in Ace's direction while jutting her thumb in Rock's. 'What's going on?' ultimately went unsaid, but the question itself hung in the air like a rotten stench.
Ace threw up his hands in an exasperated shrug, shaking his hands before shifting his eyes between the monkey and the eagle. He didn't... really wanna break the tension for a situation he knew nothing about, but managed to sneak a quiet 'uuhh' in regardless.
However, the instant he saw Rock's leg shift back, he grit his teeth, already expecting the worst. "N'ah, crap," he mumbled. Not two minutes into the city and $%@& was already going down. He didn't know quite what course of action to take, but instinctively seemed to subtly lower himself to the ground.
"Rock," he half-whispered through the corner of his mouth. "Little info?"

Coop looked back and forth between the two monkeys, slack-jawed, the faint contours of horror lining his eyes. After a few moments, however, the look of repressed horror turned to one of mere disbelief, and then, further, to a faint leer of amusement.
"Hah…" he breathed, "wow," and then, after a few more moments, "look at you, huh?"
He breathed out another stricken laugh, and slowly rested his fists on his waist. Standing with arms akimbo, he seemed to draw himself in, stooping over like a gargoyle as he eyeballed his—for the moment—rivals.
"So," he said, fractionally shrugging his shoulders—every movement seemed sluggish and faint, as if his personality was fighting its way up from a very deep, muffled pit—there was a second while he appeared to internally chew over what to say, and then Coop finished with, "…what's up?"

Rock opened his mouth to respond. He closed it again. His brows flattened like a ruler. He blinked several times, and looked incredulously at the bird. He tilted his head and almost grinned—almost—and pointed a wagging sort of oh youuu finger at the eagle.
... But he still didn't figure out anything intelligible to say, and so his expression hardened like stone again, and he sufficed to shout: "Get him!"
And so the rush began.

As Rock shouted, two of Coop's reflexes kicked in.
The first one was that of defence: Coop dropped back on one foot, his arms flying up in a sort of loose-handed, two-armed-open-air-wrestler's-grab-hug.
The second one was also that of defence, albeit a slightly more protracted and final kind: Coop ran away. With very little hesitation, he beat down on the air with both wings, and took to the sky. After a couple swooping arcs, he was down to the end of the block. After a few more arcs, he would be even further away.

Ace was quick to chase after (if only after Coop had dropped his stance and started running), but stopped dead in his tracks once the bird took flight. Although he started to feel a wave of relief wash over him, being thrust into a situation he had no idea how to handle, he trusted Rock's orders and Jam's sudden intensity for the moment.
Even as he dashed down the sidewalk, one of his patented chaos cards was already charging in his hot little hand. Mid-run, his foot stepped atop the arm rest of a local bus stop bench, and he hurled himself into the air, shooting his arm forward fiercely in Coop's direction before slamming his feet on the ground. If the eagle kept to the same direction, it would probably hit-- but no telling if he'd be too far away to catch by now, even if it did.

Rock, too, looked surprised by Coop's (literal) flight from the scene. The monkey sprinted as all-out as he could, swerving out into the street to avoid the clutter of the sidewalk. A car received a big boot-stamp imprint in its hood as he bounded over the first screeching, horn-blaring obstruction, landed atop a taxi, leapt into the right lane, bounced off the top of a gaudy SUV, and sprinted along the roof of a bus.
It was a valiant effort, for sure; there was even a wild swing from the horizontal bar of a traffic signal post, and resultant somersaulting flight, but there was absolutely no keeping up with the bird from the ground—not on that ground, and not for any of them, anyway.
Rock glared at the retreating figure for those scant few seconds he spent airborn, before the sound of crunching metal, shattering glass, and a wailing alarm marked the end of his pursuit. The parked sedan upon which he stood was vacant, and thankfully so. Its roof was crushed almost fully down beneath his feet.
Onlookers stared, but no one really bothered stopping. The scene wasn't that out of the ordinary for the locals, apparently.
The white primate stood there for a moment, just shaking his head with a generally peeved look. He said nothing, however, and soon enough hopped back to the sidewalk and wandered toward the nearest member of his party, resigned to not waste any more effort with a pointless chase.
Meanwhile, back at the scene of the other near-scuffle, Dr. Henshin remained some distance away from the whole ordeal, looking entirely grumpy and constipated as he sat atop his fancy, flying luggage.
"I think it is important for you all to know that you have terrible taste in adversaries," he lectured darkly and with great disappointment. "There's no way you'll receive serious heroic acclaim if your sworn enemy is some... teenager in a hoodie."
He spat those words as if they were poison on his tongue. Nevermind that most of the people around him were in fact teenagers. (At least none of them wore hoodies.)

Elsewhere, Caz had hardly put up any hopes in her catching up to the runaway bird. So even though she took a step forward when the other two took off (and sparing more than a few cringes for the amount of property damage already done), she paused, and furrowed her brows with a gradual realization.
"Hey-- hey, guys!" she called, kneeling down in front of the duffel bag so heartlessly left behind and waving an attention-grabbing arm. "He left his thing behind!"

Hoji looked back at his decrepit mentor with a hint of offense. Partly because at a glance, it was a fair point, but upon further consideration, it was more complicated than that,
"First of all, we're all teenagers," He paused, eyes drifting up as he briefly tallied everyone present in his head, barring Henshin, of course, "...Mostly all; and second... No one has sworn anyone as an enemy. He's just a well-planted obstacle..." He said in flimsy defense.
He didn't really want to get stuck with a kid like that as his nemesis, either. ...But there wasn't really an abundance of super villains to choose from. Well, ones that weren't taken, anyways.

"Hmph," Doc snorted, as if unconvinced (but probably more because Hoji had a point). "Well, we need to kick that obstacle like a bad habit. As soon as we unpack, I'll see what I can find out about your new friend."
He went on frowning and glowering and glaring and making sour faces at things and random people for a while. (He had been touchy ever since the previous night, when his sleep had been interrupted. He'd likely get over it as soon as he dragged everyone out for a pleasant lunch at Cracker Drum or something of the sort, though. Old people always love that crap.)

Jam hadn't been quite so keen on giving chase to the evasive avian as Rock and Ace so zealously had. As a matter of fact, she'd still been distracted keeping an eye out for his cronies when the impromptu imperative rang out, and though she did immediately lunge forward, it was in entirely the wrong direction. Needless to say, by the time she'd gotten her bearings, and figured out what was going on, she was figuratively neck-deep in the trio's dust.
With a half-glower on her face as she stared after them a moment, the simian girl set her hands on her hips, and blew a quick, harsh breath out her nose, before turning her attention to Caz, and the baggage at her feet.
"Let's see if he left us any presents," proposed the primate, striding evenly forward, as her fingers closed around the zipper.

When the zipper was pulled down by Jam, the contents-or content-of the duffel bag was revealed. Tightly wedged inside the bag was a bird; eyes shut closed and beak opened wide. It didn't seem very possible that a full-grown person could fit in the first place, but here was proof that if you shoved hard enough, anything could fit.
The bird seemed deceased by how still her body was and the awkward postion she was in. However, there was a loud snore which proved that there was still life.
