Updates Sonic Spindash RP is closed.Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.
It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

Mako had scrambled up after Rock into the control tower, having up to this point been practically bouncing off the walls for one reason or the next. Possibly he had eaten a bit too much sugar. ... Somehow. At any rate, he was one energetic fish, and had been for the past while-- far more than he had reason to be, and he seemed hard to calm down. Asking inane questions of everyone in earshot, a liberal amount of "ooh, what's that", and Sheff may have wound up poked in the side more than once-- and all that on the top of a remarkable inability to sit still.
The shark gaped out at their surroundings, an expression that was a blend of awe, a bit of fear, and the plain-old Mako favorite, a face that read "COOOOOOOL" all over it. "Locals? Liiiiiike, ghosts, right?" he inquired of nobody in particular, holding both hands above his head and wiggling his fingers in a way that was likely mean to be 'ghostly'... but just looked rather ridiculous.

Sheffer was one of the first to take Rock's offer, standing from his seat to scramble up the metal ladder and to the next floor.
At first, he found himself studying his own reflection in one of the windows, seeing his faded figure in the glass. Soon, though, he focused beyond the small barrier and out to the growing night, staring at the towering spires with disbelief. He felt as though he were initiating a staring contest between himself and one of the distant pumpkin-like structures for a brief moment before ripping his eyes away, studying the rest of the landscape.
"I've heard stories of what's happened around here, especially at night..." he muttered. "I thought it was just a bunch of rumors to attract visitors to the island, but now, actually seeing it... it's pretty creepy."
He stared for a moment longer, tuning out Mako's almost childish antics before looking over to the white primate.
"Who, or what, make those things glow?" he said, referring to the rock towers. "That can't be natural causes."

Rock, who was leaning with his hands on an inactive (and possibly long-broken) radar panel, shrugged and put on his best hell-if-I-know face. "Same thing that made those robots put'emselves back together?"
(He meanwhile coped with Mako by pretending he wasn't there.)

Juneau pocketed his palmpc as the offer to follow was extended and proceeded to do so, but not before collapsing his xgear, packing it into a carrying case, and attaching the case to his satchel bag. He then simply stood as close the the center of the windowed room as possible. He'd take a few moments to take in the view from all of the windows before speaking up in regards to both the shark and hedgehogs comments.
"..It's best to keep in mind that not all the 'locals' out there are...'friendly'... "
A moment later he'd turn his focus towards their host a moment. "...Which reminds me.. Regardless of how odd this might sound.. Did anything unusual happen in the hangar after we last spoke..? "

Rock gave Juneau a stony kind of look out of the corner of his eye, but didn't move. "Should it have?" he asked, more than a little hint of suspicion in his voice.

" Seems i owe some one something then.. And.. No. ... " He'd trail off as he began to search through another one of his vest pockets a short while before removing a pink and purple wrapped candy and held it over his head a few moments then held it over the access ladder to the room. He'd drop it only to have it be engulfed in a brief flicker of blue flame, which itself vanished nearly within the same instant. The entire time Juneau continued to survey the view from the towers windows.

"Explains where those three ratchets went," Rock muttered under his breath, before looking back out the window again. "Just keep that chao of yours or whatever it is on a leash tonight."
He sniffed once, scratched his face, and stared vacantly, thinking. He must have eventually decided on something to do, because he made his way purposefully over to the ladder a moment later.
"You guys can feel free to mill around wherever you want to. I'm gonna go try to make sure you all have somethin' livable to sleep on tonight."
He slid down the ladder with a brisk, metallic swoosh, and went about his business.( OOC: See below for notes.)

Probably not the only one to be so, Jam was visibly less than pleased with the prospect of what should have been perhaps a lengthy day-trip turning into an extended stay, yet probably not for the same reasons. She'd already seen the lovely view from the former control tower earlier, and counter to convention, remained below with her thoughts, where she waited for Rock to dump them upon when he dropped back down.
"I mean, it's not like I'm worried they're gonna do anything, y'know," the dust-covered monkey was explaining moments later in a hushed tone, as she waggled the head of a broom at the edges of a ceiling that looked well-decorated for Halloween, but wasn't. "I know we don't really have a choice, but havin' a slumber party with 'em all's just gonna be tense."
After a brief pause to allow a cobweb-inspired coughing fit to pass, she continued in a still quieter voice, "Pretty sure that hedgehog dude thinks we're up to no good, Jack blames you, personally, for Yellow Desert, the grasshopper's not firing on all cylinders, and I don't like the Ultra Ranger."

"Look, just take it easy," the white monkey muttered quietly as he finished tucking the last corner of a comforter under its mattress, and stood straight. "They're bein' civil for now, and we've got enough room to not have to share any space with anybody tonight."
He was done, but paused at the door before heading into the hall to start work on the next room. His tone remained hushed.
"There's only one person I'm worried about botherin' anybody, but I think I've already got things figured out."

The tortoise was actually one of the few (if any) who elected to stay downstairs and enjoy the scenery on its own. Only instead of enjoying the scenery (as there was honestly little to enjoy aside from the avant-garde wall decorations), he simply took a large, long deep breath, and bleeeeewww it all out, sinking into a slump on the couch next to Dr. Henshin. It had been a long few days, and driving all the way here had really earned him some form of early rest. So, he rested, the very couch he lay on threatening to crumble under his weight. (Not really. [Maybe.])
"Wwwoooooooaaahhh..."
"Ah $%@&, they are real."
Upstairs/ladders, Caz stared almost dumbfounded, jaw hung slightly slack by the... spectacle gathering before her. If one looked especially carefully, one might have been able to see her actually swallowing the air in her throat before sternly crossing her arms with a skewed, renewed look of 'determination'. “I ain't 'fraid a' no ghost,” she muttered, hmphing out of her nose. “In fact, I am so unafraid... of, ghosts... that I ammm going to find something else to do, because I don't even care.”
"Well in that case, why don't we go downstairs and help Rock out setting things up? And away from all these weirdos," he added quietly.
"Suuure, alright," she added, only slightly dissapointed at the promise of potential work. Indeed, it was something to do... even if it didn't necessarily classify as 'fun'. So with that, the two of them descended to the depths below, in search of the unofficial leader of their unofficial crew.

Before Jam could delight in the momentary distraction of having her curiosity piqued, she turned to find her partner in conversation gone, evoking an expression that was at once sour and unsurprised.
The musty monkey gave the floorboards a final, hasty (see: sloppy) once-over with the broom, before ushering her pile of dirt into the hall, and poking her head into Rock's next conquest.
"Hey, keep going," she called softly, a coy grin seeping into her tone. "You know much much I love it when you tell me stuff without telling me anything."

Rock looked up from a dresser drawer, from which he was removing some "unsafe" items (ammunition, a knife, and who knows what else). He just smiled at her.
"They're called 'sweet nothings' for a reason."

*THWACK!*
That was the sound of Jam's ratty old plastic broom head taking a shot at Rock's ankles, and hitting the bottom drawer of the dresser he was standing in front of. In lieu of painful retribution, she settled for a snarky, scrunch-nosed display of her tongue before resuming her lackluster attempts to make inhabitable living space.
"Yeah, I got the 'nothin'," she mock pouted with a melodramatic sigh.

OOC: Moving forward now. Full-fledged nighttime set in. It was an odd evening—in its own way, not even really considering the circumstances. There wasn't so much tension as there was distance. Everyone had been shown their rooms (a total of three smallish rooms with an old bunk bed or pair of cots in each, along with the lobby and its two couches, to be distributed as the guests saw fit), then afterward, Rock, Jam, Ace, and Caz mostly kept to themselves, neither actively avoiding the other crew nor going out of their way to interact. They had a portable CD player and a back room with a ragged, old pool table (and barely enough space to use it without stick-stabbing the walls on certain shots), and it seemed to suffice for entertainment. It was... peaceful, really. There was a very gentle, barely-audible hum from some kind of generator down in the basement, but that was it. It was so silent that, for anyone used to city life, the shock of having absolutely no outside noise could have been either refreshing or maddening. But, whatever it was, it was different, and even as the sky became inky black, it wasn't bad—there were no signs of "ghosts" whatsoever. Although, the radio in the lobby didn't seem to want to play anything but static—static that at times, through the filter of imagination-run-amuck, may have sounded like scratching, breathing, or mumbling. At some point late in the evening, Rock had emerged to start shutting things down. The exits were barred and latched; the light control panel was closed and padlocked, to prevent tampering; and the main lights in the kitchen and lobby were cut. A warm glow permeated the room nonetheless from a web of vivid LEDs, shining dimly through the thinner sections of the motley mess of draperies hanging from the wall. Light crept across the shiny concrete floor and scattered throw rugs under the curtains' fringes, but not enough to hinder sleep. Like most things about Rock, his home was odd and not very welcoming at first, but designed and equipped very purposefully, and nigh perfected in its functionality with little regard for aesthetics or outward appearance. Through an undoubtedly long and arduous process of trial and error, the primate had devised his ultimate solution long ago: An impregnable barrier of illumination surrounded the entire structure, wall to wall and floor to ceiling, but was concealed such that the occupants could still enjoy the peace of darkness, and not go stark-raving mad in a white-out house of glaring light. And it did have a perfect track record... until that very night. Sometime in the early AM hours, after everyone had gone to bed, there came a disheartening sound from the basement, like something winding down. The already dim-lit rooms went pitch-black for a second, before a glaring, but still-dreadfully-small emergency lantern automatically lit up with a single beep in each room. There was a laugh from somewhere indistinct in the building, then true dead silence. The air was frigid.

| Reason: Fixed some typos/bad phrasing. Also removed the part about locking the tower since Targette is up there. |

Target happily hung around upstairs despite the lack of a need to sleep. Target was fascinated by the view, and stared out the windows being unnervingly still as she watched the night.
Jack had avoided going upstairs. She'd been quiet since nightfall. Jack wasn't a superstious person, per say, but this place more then creeped her out. So much so that she had a very difficult time trying to sleep. She was awake, pacing around the kitchen-like area when it happened. The only noise aside from snoring that broke the silence, the hum of the generator stopped and she jumped spinning around and pulling out her sidearm only to stare into pitch. The emergancys lights came on and they where very much so helpful, but then the cold sunk in and the eerie laugher. Jack shuddered and carefully holstered her weapon.
"Hello? Who's there?" She said cautiously creeping out of the kitchen area.
