"Oh! My... gosh...!"

As it were, Rock was the only critter on the field with fond memories of the sheriff and her company, and he was very nearly in the process of greeting her with a dripping-with-sarcasm 'Howdee-doo'. Of course, she was not alone as he soon found out and his introduction went something like this:

"Well, hoooooooooooooouuuhhh."

Even he couldn't think of anything smart to say. All the same, he had to mentally congratulate Rock on his rather impressive level-headedness in the situation. It was a daunting task, indeed.

"Ah, hyeis. Forlgeef me-- aye hwould be glad to join you," he said (very politely), and offered a hand to shake. "Aye assume you are the Mestur... Lochhert! Yeis?"

Rock was surprised to find Tank did not make his hand look like a stepped-on soda can. Internally, he actually felt that was a little more impressive than showing off his strength, which he so easily could have. But, it was neither the time nor place to contemplate that.

"That's me," he said with a muted smile. (It was hard to be too genuinely happy with his favorite sheriff around, but he was probably going to try just to spite her.) "After you, then. Make yourselves at home. We're still waiting for the fuel truck to arrive, but, in the meantime, I'm gonna make some... finishing preparations."

Yes, they had wholly to do with Tank's sheer size. He was not going to fit into the plane's stock seats.

"I'll take that offer!" wheezed Dr. Henshin weakly, as, like all old people in existence, he overreacted massively to the adverse temperature, pouring sweat, drooping in his flight, weaving from side to side, and looking utterly pathetic.

He lulled down and leaned his weight on Mako's shoulder.

"Help an old man to shelter, would you, hm?" he asked meekly. The shark had already marked himself as compassionate to an old man's needs by opening the van door for him. Things were only going to get worse.

Inside, they would find the control tower building to be... cozy. Not huge, not super spacious, but big enough to easily hold the crowd in its main "lobby" area, which looked more like some sort of casual mix of a living room, dining room, and front office. There was a computer desk, a large table with chairs all around it (probably for both eating and flight planning), a couple sofas, coffee table, all that sort of stuff. The only thing that looked out of place, besides the mismatched furniture and throw rugs on the concrete floor, was that the walls were all hidden behind thick curtains, tapestries, hanging rugs, layers of sheets, and pretty much anything that could be draped from the ceiling. It certainly made for an interesting effect, but why anyone would go to the trouble was hard to say, especially since it was still nothing striking to look at.

Mako, not expecting the moth to decide he was the best candidate to be his youthful ward, faltered a bit. Not from weight, mind, just not expecting it.
And yet somewhere in the back of his mind he was very glad indeed that Tank wasn't feeling tired and weary.

Ignoring that he was no great fan of the heat, himself, he put on straight face, resisted the urge to make a comment (lest he wind up being tazed or probed or who-knows-what by the moth), and led the old man into the building. As he laid eyes on the... distinctive... decor, he let out a low whistle.
"Neat."

He paused.

"Uhh, can you find your own seat, doctor?" the shark tried for starters.

Whatever impromptu seating adjustments Rock went off to arrange, Jam lingered behind with little more than a knowing nod and glance, stepping back to allow passing birth, with an indicative wave of her hand. With a prodding jerk of her head to the serval and his mole to follow her inside after the last entrant, she ducked back in as well, feigning a casual air with a lazy gait and her hands (or as much of them would fit) in her pockets.

"So," began the berry-hued simian in an attempt at easy banter, her eyes roving speculatively across each odd party member. "What's a big group like this all headin' to the Westside at once for?"

Sheffer had made his way out of the van and straight to the building in silence, not having much to say, only taking the landscape and building in. The place appeared a bit shabby from the outside, the interior a bit more of an improvement.

He, of course, recognized the two primates and cat from ages before, back when the hedgehog was pulled into this mess of an 'adventure'. He did not recall much reactions between him and these others, yet the word Captain kept echoing through his mind every time his eyes fell on the white monkey who'd greeted Tank in somewhat of a formal matter.

Propping his board against a nearby chair, he looked questionably at the assortment of drapes, rugs, and other things that hung from the ceiling to conceal the walls. Curiosity nagging him at the back of his mind, he was just laying a hand on one of the pieces of fabric, intending to peek through, when the pink primate spoke.

He cast a wary eye to the people who'd driven up with him to the place, then back over to her.

"...going to a boxing match," he said, keeping it short and simple.

"Of course, of course," croaked Dr. Henshin. Not literally croaked, mind you—replied to Mako, more accurately, as he was still fairly alive, just, you know, croaky. The weary old moth-man fluttered and puttered his way over to the couch, plopped down, and folded away his fancy cyborg wings behind him. "Have a candy for your good deed," he sleepily murmured through a stifled yawn as he fished out a colorful, round, classic-looking plastic-wrapped hard candy from his coat pocket and tossed haphazardly toward the shark. Its crinkly, end-twisted wrapper was kind of hard to read, but it had Wild Labs printed on it, along with "POW! Wild Berry Punch" in front of Badge's distinctive logo. Possibly a very good or very bad sign, being that it meant it was likely formulated by the Doc himself. Possibly not a good idea to consume it then and there, or maybe... ever.

He opened and closed his mouth a few times as if chewing some invisible sub sandwich, ensuring throughout that he made sufficiently obnoxious I'm-Tired smacking noises, before spontaneously losing consciousness then and there. An automated robotic arm extended from the unit on his back and proceeded to put a sleeping mask over his eyes for him. He truly thought of everything.

Both Ace and Caz followed Jam back indoors, and assumed their previous seating (and standing) arrangements they had posted themselves at moments before. Ace on his stool. Caz leaning (and somewhat impatiently bobbing left and right in rhythm) against the wall next to the window.

"Oh, Jam," exclaimed the mole in a faux wrist-flapping motion. "What-ever could they go there for, but for the lovely tourist attractions?" She didn't sound *entirely* sarcastic either, but probably enough to let her know she was indeed joking.

Ace just released a chuckle that sounded like a huff and nodded weakly-- and then paused after suddenly recognizing the nearest hedgehog (and the shark seemed vaguely familiar, too). He kept his mouth shut, but the gears in his head were definitely turning.

"Ohoho no, no, no," Tank answered in that polite but seriously renouncing way that only a charming foreigner could, and promptly flopped his body on the couch, the seat next to Dr. Henshin nearly exploding beside him. "Indeed, hwe are on a meeshun: penetrlate Westside Islond's defenses, eenfeeltrlate the Starrly Nights Colosseum-- ah, you haff hearld off thees tourlnament, yes?"

[OOC: Woops. Fallin' behind. Sorry, folks.]

Hoji was just as surprised as anyone to find Rock here of all places. And as the benefactor of their ride to Westside, no less.

"Small world." He said mostly to himself, although not necessarily with any contempt in his voice. No, while their initial meeting wasn't silky smooth, Hoji had no real reason to dislike the monkeys.

He followed the others inside. He walked over to the couch that Tank seemed to be hogging, and leaned against one of the arm rests.

He nodded at Tank's response, "A boxing tournament." He clarified, in case Rock and company hadn't heard of it.

Mako gave the candy the moth gave him a very suspicious look. He carefully, caaarefully removed the wrapper and sniffed the confection a couple times, as though trying to discern whether it contained, say, gunpowder. He gingerly licked it once, then quickly held it at arm's length.

Well, for all he knew, it may, say, explode.
Or punch him in the face.

He wasn't exactly sure, or about to take the risk, knowing the old moth. He rolled the taste around on his tongue for a second, before he slowly popped the candy into his mouth. Well, it certainly tasted fine.
And he did feel a lot more alert all of a sudden, as though the car trip (most of which he had spent on the floor of the van) had never happened.

"Yeah, that thing. We're gonna get mugged," he said after all the indication of he boxing tournament, with a bit of dismay evident in his voice.

After ushering folks inside, Rock went walking off across the arid lot, the grit of ages-old pavement crackling under his heavy boots. There were "adjustments" to be made to the airplane's seating arrangement out at the hangar, and it was a convenient enough excuse to not hang around with the sheriff and her force of honorary deputies.

He honestly didn't have any particular reason (that he knew of) to think poorly of them any more than they had likewise. Insofar as he could tell, the big tortoise was the one calling the shots, anyway, and he seemed... upright, if a little extravagant. But that was okay.

"..."

He stopped mid-step, just short of the hangar's long shadow, and cast a hard, pensive gaze up at those pumpkin-shaped rocks overhead. The sun was already low in the sky, and not far at all from setting. The tanker truck was very, very late.

"Mmn..."

His brows lowered farther; he heard the rhythmic crunch of gravel, and turned.

"I daresay we have heard of it," drawled Jam with lazy diction that poorly matched her unusually rigid vocabulary.

She exchanged a brief glance with both the mole and the serval, as if silently saying, "Uh-huh."

With a brief scratch of her nose, the nearly neon monkey rolled her head around her shoulders, and she continued conversationally (with an appropriate waggling of her open palms), "Think you'd have to be livin' under a rock not to, though. Seems t'be all the buzz right now."

As if attempting to not be too presumptuous, she tried not to let her gaze linger any longer on Tank than on any particular other member of the party (except perhaps the decrepit moth, who may or may not have been decomposing on Rock's sofa at that moment), before she asked with mild intrigue, "Any of you goin' out for it, then?"

"Hm... that's an interesting question..." said Sheffer suspiciously. "I really wasn't too sure about joining or not..."

The hedgehog had taken a seat in a comfortable (well, compared to the van it was) recliner, his eyes on the pink primate.

"Are any of you going to be participating...?" he said, giving his own query, yet trying to act a tad casual. He could feel a small tension rising already, his eyes showing curious interest.

( Pardon any.. Crappyness in this post.. Been awhile and my focus isn't the best tonight.. )

Moments after the simian's pace would come to a pause a faint blue glow flickered into existence within the shadow the hanger cast from the position of the afternoon sun. Though the blue tinted flame was clearly viable it's source would remain unseen even as it quickly darted about within the shadow for several moments before pausing then quickly headed for the corner of the hanger before fading out of sight entirely.

Regardless of whether or not Rock had noticed the flame the approaching mantis had, and in fact, his attention was focused on it prior catching a glimpse of Rock standing nearby the shadow out of the corner of his eye. At first his focus darted between both the now empty shadow and the simian as he lifted the goggles form his eyes, resting said goggles on his forehead " Given the direction you were heading.. Might i assume you're the one I have a flight with today..? "

Rock mostly ignored the bizarre light. Things like that were too common in Pumpkin Hill to be concerned with, although it was a little early in the day for it to be starting... Instead, he focused solidly on the stranger walking up.

Or was he a stranger? He looked very familiar... Maybe they had at least crossed paths at some point.

"Yeah, that's me," he replied, settling his hands on his sides. "You must be... Mr. Fefifrin?" he guessed. It wasn't difficult to guess—he was the only other one who called and booked. It was difficult to pronounce.

"You'd be correct... Though.. Juneau works too.. Actually, it's preferred." The mantis's focus drifted towards the sky while he spoke so as to take a moment to look at the skyline a few before tapping the xgear tucked under his left arm with his hand. "Just this and the pack on my back. Hope it's not too much." His focus remained on the skyline a few moments more before returning to rocks location.
