"Mmn nnh... no thank you," replied still-sleeping Dr. Henshin completely unhelpfully.
Then he stirred a little, as Sheffer's words apparently began to "register" in his conscious mind.
"Hmngh. ... Hm? Oh...! Oh!" He sat bolt upright. "We're here! Look out! There are lights on in there! You should have woken me up! This could get dangerous."

"Finally..." The viewtiful© helmsman muttered as the destination was within visual range. At some point, he transformed back into his civilian attire. So when Dr. Henshin reiterated Sheffer, his eye-rolling could be easier to catch than if he was wearing his helmet.
"Hey, old man. Wake up, looks like there are lights on." Hoji said with a smartass smirk. But his smirk subsided pretty quickly as they closed on the destination. He was looking for a hangar entrance. It being an underwater base, it was likely that it'd have a moonpool-type of entrance for subs and the like, "Guess we'd better be ready for a welcoming committee."

"Tch! And again, tch. Welcoming committee," Dr. H echoed derisively, shaking his head. "We need to sharpen up your one-liners, really."
He turned to the nearby console and made a few keystrokes on the touchscreen. The volumetric map display in the center of the chamber swirled and changed perspective, providing a 3D wire frame view of the structure's exterior. A couple sweeps across his screen later, and a breadcrumb-like dotted line trail showed Hoji an exact path to take into the lower portion of the structure.
"I did reconnaissance earlier with an unmanned submersible. There's a pressurized moonpool docking area at the location highlighted on your screen. BUT..." He pressed a couple buttons, and a yoke not unlike that of an airplane's cockpit unfolded from around his chair, flipping out across the moth's lap. "I can take the controls from here! Stand at ready to deploy!"
Perhaps fully showing the extent of the vessel's nonsensical extravagance, red dome lights began spinning, a siren went off, and a number of rounded wall panels, located sporadically between sections of glowing view screens, rotated suddenly and revealed door-like openings and glowing lights inside.
"Go! Jettison for justice! To the launch tubes!"
Yes. There were ejection tubes to blast everyone out of the sub as soon as they surfaced. Silly? Maybe. Then again, it was probably a lot safer than everybody climbing out of the same hatch like sitting ducks... Tank definitely wasn't going to fit, though.

Hoji was torn between relief and sadness when the crotchety old moth took the helm from him. He nodded, and didn't hesitate to do as instructed. As fun as it was to drive big machinary, it was KOMBAT TIME. Maybe. They still didn't know what, if anything, they were up against. Could be that Eggman just forgot to turn the lights off...?
He hopped over the console, and headed to one of the launch tubes, stepping inside, and turning to face the entrance with a determined look... only for his eyes to practically shoot out of his sockets when the platform under him suddenly shot up, throwing him out of the Wild Sub(No, that doesn't have to be it's official name).
Luckily, he managed to regain control mid-flight, flipping, and twisting in mid-air. He almost hoped there was a welcome wagon waiting for them so someone would be able to witness this.
"Henshin!"
He shouted mid flip, and then there was a bright flash. Suddenly, his all-too-familiar jumpsuit, scarf, and helmet were back on and... he seemed to pause in mid-air just long enough to strike a mid-air pose before landing on a knee, leaning forward on a gloved hand for support.
Yes, I believe the launch tubes have served their purpose this day.

There was just something about being in closed in a sub for an extended period of time with six guys she hardly knew made her rather uncomfortable. What made matters worse for her though, is the uneven breathing of the sleepy moth that twice had her rising out of her seat to check to see if he was still among the living during extended pauses in breathing. Each time though, he seemed to continue on his own without the need of aid. Jack was sure the moth would expire any minute now.
The gilded griffin starred up at the base in quiet amazement. She'd never seen an Eggman base before, she'd never even thought about the sort of scale they where built on.
"How the heck does he build these without no one noticing?" Jack said starring at the view screens. The shock and horror had faded and she wore her sheriff face. All business now, seeing as any of them where likely to expire in the next few hours.
Finally their departure method was made apparent. Jack's cool expression drooped into a frown. She watched Hoji jump in, then shook her head with a heavy sigh. Defeated, she walked towards one of the tubes. "If this ain't the dumbest thing..." She said and stepped in, And the rest was screaming as she was shot out of the tub, flipping through the air she opened her wings once she had a good idea of where the ground was and glided the rest of the way to the walkway.
"That was kinda fun, actually."

Toby, who had been asleep up until all the commotion surrounding the group's arrival at the base, was snapping himself out of his stupor to check out the tubes that had just catapulted two people out of the ship. He shokk his head a few times, and wiped the sleep from his eyes. His arms and legs stretched out as his mouth contorted into a huge yawn. One of his arms hit poor Kyle who was hovering nearby, causing the chao to flop into Toby's lap. The boy snatched up the chao in one hand, and in the other he grabbed his new-fangled board and headed over to the tubes.
"Now this is more like it!!" He examined the tubes, stepping inside one to get a better look. "How do these things work exa..."
WHOOSH!!!
Toby was already whizzing through the air, letting a startled yelp escape at first. Once he regained himself, however, it was just another thrill ride for Cotton. He held on tight to Kyle, and landed almost on top of the griffin that had gone before him, hopping back a few steps to give her some space.
"...Sorry 'bout that!" He glanced around at the scenery, letting the chao go and re-adjusting his clothes. "Wasn't expecting the thing to go off that soon..." With a quick shake of the head, he was back on track. "So, what's the next move, boss?" He smirked, jamming one hand down into his pocket.

Soon on the heels of WILD BADGE, the sheriff, and Toby was the fish, more than grateful for the chance to get out of the submarine. Being underwater? Awesome. Being underwater, in a vehicle? ... less awesome. After watching the three before him, he stepped into the tube gingerly and was summarily flung at high speed towards their destination.
Seeming less adept at any sort of airborne travel than the three before him, Mako had a moment to regretfully note that he was not a flying fish, before... ... he landed quite normally on their walkway destination, on his own two feet, not tripping or making an oaf of himself at all. That was a pleasant surprise.
He blinked, and only now did the scale of this structure hit him; surely he would feel dwarfed and in awe, or feel the impending danger of their mission, or-- "Coooooool." Okay. Maybe not. He shook his head back to reality, and looked over at those who had assembled. He looked like he was gonna say something relevant, but it snapped back quickly to: "Okay guys, admit it, Eggman flingy-dingy or not, this place is awesome!"

(OOC: I'm back!)
The time in-between the initial dive, and the recent arrival to their destination was either well-spent for the giant tortoise, or a little bizarre, depending on who you asked-- it was only at Wild Badge's mention of a "welcoming committee" that the massive reptile seemed to awaken from his standing slumber. Perhaps if he'd brought something like a set of playing cards, he'd have a better way to pass the time than staring out the 'window' of the observation deck, crossing his arms and looking serious. In fact, from time to time, one might have caught a glimpse of him actually pouting in between daydreams.
But, sure enough, that all came to an end. Power Mask, ready as ever, was one of the first to nod to himself at the call, grunt in acknowledgment, and move as fast as his totem-legs could carry him to the escape pods.
...He managed to squeeze an leg, a shoulder, and about a fifth of his shell inside. Half-stuck there, he'd gotten a lovely view of his comrades being jettisoned out while he struggled against those frustratingly tiny walls.
"...Doctur!" he shouted. "Were there... nh, no deezigns een thee sob's layout... beeult forl one... agh, soch as mai-self?!"

"I'll be sure to remember apt accommodations for one such as yourself when I build my first submersible aircraft carrier," remarked Dr. Henshin, crossing his arms impetuously, as if offended that anyone would be displeased with his creations (even considering the accessibility issues). However, after a few seconds of watching the tortoise struggle through unsympathetic, half-lidded eyes, he sighed exaggeratedly, dragged a hand limply across the control panel, and in doing so opened the sub's moon pool.
"You can swim out. Now gooo. ... And do watch out. I've got a bad feeling about this."

Badge wanted an audience for his flashy entrance, and he got one: A burly, bulky Eggman robot (one of his less inspired "pawn" models, homely as they were) was literally just feet from where he landed. In fact, a whole small squad stood there, weapons in hand, ready to greet him.
One lunged to tackle him... very... rigidly. Actually, no, scratch that. It sort of teeter-tottered and fell over in the raccoon's general direction. In the confusion of the others' landings, someone (quite possibly Kyle) had backed into one of the rear members of the Egg Pawn party, and the entire group of rigor mortis robots was sent clattering and clanging raucously to the floor, completely motionless.
The entire huge, dome-ceiling chamber was full of machines like this. Many were already on the floor; others had stopped dead in place, like statues, or some sort of particularly ugly modern art. The only sound came from the softly buzzing light fixtures high, high overhead, and the distant, passive noise of fans and other machinery necessary to keep the base livable. If not for the inherent noisiness of the intruding party, one could hear a pin drop.
What was there to see? The room was mostly empty. There were dry-docked submarines and aquatic attack robots all around, as well as cargo containers and all the other typical trimmings of a dock (albeit an underwater one), but it was fairly sparse, at least for the capacity of the chamber in which they stood. The wall behind them was covered with huge windows, offering a view into the depths from which they had just emerged. The wall distantly ahead of them had a glass-faced oversight center of some sort jutting out, as well as a number of doors, presumably leading to more corridors snaking throughout the premises. Some of the corridors were large enough for vehicles to drive through, and even had painted lines much like roads. Other doors were clearly marked as elevators, some human-sized, others heavy lifts of greater size probably intended for cargo.
It was hard to know where to begin with such enormity, and they had only seen what was effectively the entrance. The most prominent route looked to be a four lane "road" that led at an upward slope beyond an open tunnel ahead, but whether or not that was the way to go was hard to say. Tunnel, corridor, elevator, even stairs—There were plenty of options, and at the moment, the emerald radar in Hoji's helmet was probably only accurate enough to direct them generally upward and ahead.

"HOLY SHI-"
Sheffer had not been really prepared for the sudden velocity at which he was propelled at out of the sub, despite watching a majority of the group already exit. He quickly questioned in mid-air why they couldn't all just be normal people and take the regular exit from the top of the sub, but it was too late now. Admittedly enough, it was an exciting experience, being shot out of a near literal cannon.
With his board tightly clamped within one hand, he looked down to the ground below, making a fairly smooth landing with barely a stumble. Giving a sigh of relief of having not going through the act of his face meeting floor, he took a quick glance around, seeing the last remains of the domino-effect taking place on the hoard of robots.
Having not expected much else from an abandoned Eggman base, he was still impressed by the whole size of it. The hedgehog felt nearly insignificant in the massive space of the chamber, letting his head crane back to peer at the distant ceiling for a moment.
"You know, why in the world would he just abandon this place?" he questioned, looking back down. "Could have been driven out, but still, why leave all these resources?" He nudged one of the fallen robots with his foot.

Wild Badge tilted his head up in time to see one of the armed robots move towards him. Standing up quickly, he brought his arms up defensively, fists clenched and ready to strike... Only to realize that it was faceplanting instead.
He let out a sigh as his arms fell to his side. He looked around at the others who exited the sub, and nodded to Sheffer, "Yeah, that is strange. Keep a vigil eye out."
He looked around the dome-shaped room, trying to get an idea of which way they should go from the reading on his HUD.
"Might as well head up that tunnel," He said with a pointed finger to the route in question, looking at the others for some feedback on his brilliant plan.

Jack fluttered back into the massive area, there was something strangely unsettling about all these robots left behind and forgotten. Being as close as she was with her sex-changed robot she almost felt bad for Eggman's creations, even though the sheriff was wise enough to realize these robots didn't have much in the way of higher intelligence like the CT's.
She glanced at the dock, and her group as they exited the sub. She looked at Hoji then the group. "Let's keep a few things in mind guys, We're in Eggman's base, I reckon he's monitoring this place, so he already knows we're here, and these robots maybe harmless now but they might not be when we find that rock. Hoji-" She stopped herself, and sighed. "Wild Badge, is right, we need to be careful and stick together. Badge, you've got the radar, so lead the way. But uh, where's Mask?"

The griffin's question acted as a cue for the tortoise in question to arrive on the scene, and no, it didn't seem like he could do anything other than a dramatic entrance-- a huge geyser of a splash suddenly erupted from the pool of water behind them (preferably envisioned in slow motion, droplets of water sprinkling in the air, if you please.) And who else appeared from the watery mist than the one and only Power Mask, primed and ready for action.
Perhaps a bit too ready, given their circumstances. For once, he didn't bother crossing his arms and looking aloof when he landed beside them. Rather, his hands were held wide and high, as if prepared to tackle with some imminent, life-threatening danger. And hey, he was walking in blind into an old Eggman base. Could you really blame him?
Regardless, after darting his eyes about the area and quickly hop-shifting his stance (several times) in a series of thrilling, dramatic postures, before slowly seeming to realize just how over-ready he was, and then sighing from his nostrils in disappointment.
"...Hm."

"No danger yet, big guy," said Sheffer to the tortoise with a small smirk. "Be interesting to see you plow through a few 'bots, though. You seem built for it."
Sheffer glanced back to the still unmoving sea of robotic beings, still expecting for Eggman to pop up and scream "FOOLED YOU" while the hoard drew weapons and other dangerous materials. The chances could be likely, with their previous luck and all, but the hedgehog would try to remain slightly optimistic. At least nothing here seemed capable of nuclear destruction...
"Anyway, lets go find that emerald before Mr. Mustache decides to do so himself," said Sheffer back to the group. "Remember though, once we find it, I carry it. Don't need another golem walking around."
With his restatement made, he tossed his board down, hopping on and accelerating forward with a surge of air. Not bothering to weave around the fallen robots, he simply went over them, the space between them small enough to keep a steady level for the board. He really didn't go too fast; any normal person would be able to keep up on foot if they wished. His eagerness may have been evident, but he didn't want to leave anyone behind either.
