Quickly, Sheffer's hands rose, letting them loose on his quills, ruffling them up as a powder fell from them. After a moment of this, he stopped, the powder falling to the ground in a thin layer of dust. He stared down quizzically at the substance, running a hand through his quills one more time.
Then he felt it. A hard substance, placed right on the tip of one of his quills. Appearing even more confused, he bent the extremity so he had a proper view of it, seeing the crystal-like substance upon his quill. It was white and green in color... and it was growing across the quill.
"Uh, guys, is this some sort of prank?" questioned the hedgehog, his fingers, scratching at the crystal. "You know, like the cups..." It wasn't coming off. "All a joke, right?" He rubbed harder. "Eh heh..." It stayed put.
"..."
Sheffer suddenly went into a flurry of movements, doing everything he could to remove the material from his quill. Scratching, peeling, smashing... nothing was a success, and it still was creeping across. It was halfway to his head now, and still going.
"Seriously, this isn't funny..."

Tails had not finished his donut before the scene began to unravel. As the situation grew rapidly more and more out of control, he watch in growing puzzlement, and then concern, and when Sheff had begun frantically trying to get the spreading crystalline structure off his head, Tails' concern graduated to horror.
His jaw fell open, slackly, the donut falling out from between his teeth.
"Wh--What's going on?" he managed. *
*"N-NANI?"

The blue-eyed chao seemed to be in a temporary truce with the hedgehog, as he ad polished off his doughnut and set his sights on poking around the strange crystalline substance on the hedgehog's quills. "Jabi zu baju..."
Toby remained half-asleep and perfectly content to munch on his treat, until all at once, something dawned on him. He began choking on his doughnut pretty hard, and grabbed a nearby cup of coffee, taking a huge swig of the disgusting liquid. He shuddered as the inky black substance flowed down his throat. Without a word, Toby's eyes darted back and forth between the various members of their little group. Maybe keeping an unstable emerald so close wasn't such a good idea in hind-sight.

Sheffer could only give the chao a distressed glance as he kept hurriedly trying to break the substance off his skin, fingers prodding away.
"You know, buddy, I appreciate the concern... but staring at it ain't going to do jack-sh**."

As Mako, Toby, and soon-to-be everyone else stood gazing in bewildered amazement at the sudden, drastic increase of Sheff's fruity-factor, the cat was busying himself with far more important matters. Namely, waking up, as it was. He took a bite of one of his many donuts, and washed it down with a gulp of the sheriff's morning elixir. It was nasty, bitter stuff, but he took it without missing a beat. It worked well enough for him to quickly realize he shouldn't expect anything gourmet from the local police station.
And while he would have been fine and dandy rousing his consciousness for a bit longer, something else caught his attention from the corner of his sleepy eyes. As he watched the hedgehog's 'condition' grow and grow, it became easier and easier to put two and two together. Ace examined the green one with a sudden mix of concern and anxiousness as he muttered the only thing he could.
"Ah, s**t."
Without hesitation, (but with one last gulp of the hot stuff) he plopped his cup to a desk, haphazardly tossed his donuts somewhere nearby, and marched over to the hedgehog with a notable air of irritation. "Yeah, real funny, guys," he called over his shoulder to the mass huddling around him, as if accusing them of a prank similar to the cups. "Here, quills, I'll help ya get it out..." He rolled his eyes in annoyance, and promptly... grabbed Sheffer by the wrist, and began leading him to the nearest men's room.
It was a gentle, if firm grip. But no doubt it could definitely get firmer.

Sheffer took a moment out of his panic to give the cat a curious look. Lacking any other options (crazed smashing had proven unsuccessful) he allowed Ace to drag him off to the bathroom.
"Okay, pal," he said, his hands absentmindedly reaching to the still-growing substance as he closed the door behind him. "You better damn well have a good idea, because this crystal look isn't suiting me..."
Thats when he looked into a mirror, seeing the crystalline material inching across the green of his quills. It even appeared to start becoming thicker farther back, as though bulking up. A near disgusted groan escaped his lips, his shoulders slumping.
Wonderful day it was.

"Yeah, hold still."
And it became very suddenly apparent, around the time that the door clicked shut, that Ace was not feeling quite so jovial as he may have appeared. As Sheff examined himself in the mirror, the cat was already on the case, whatever that case may have been. Of course, it looked suspicious enough that he had led the hedgehog into the bathroom by hand-- naked-- and things didn't look any better when he began business-mindedly patting down the hedgehog's cargoes, looking flustered. Not in a cop a feel manner, either, almost like he was searching for a weapon Sheff had hidden.

"Whoa, hold it!" exclaimed the hedgehog, jumping back from the cat's touch. "What the hell do you think you're doing down there?"
This was getting awkward fast. For one, they were in a bathroom. Two, he had just realized the nakedness of Ace at the moment. Three, he was... searching his pants...
"I think we have a worse problem then whatever is in my pockets!"

"The emerald, guy!" he half-shouted, half-whispered, like he was trying to force out the words when his throat wouldn't let him. "The emerald you picked up at Eggman's! That's what's turning you all sparkly, an' it's prolly makin' you radioactive too!"

"....should have known."
Quickly, Sheffer shrugged the backpack off his shoulders, swinging it around and opening the top flap. His hand dove in, it immediately returned with the blue, pear-shaped emerald. And, to his assumption, it was glowing. Brightly.
All of a sudden, he could actually feel the crystal rapidly increasing its growth rate, feeling it reach his ears and now crawl down his neck. Taking a quick glance to the mirror, the spreading was evident, his quills encased in the stuff. The crystal even seemed to glow a bit in the presence of the emerald... just solidifying the fact what was truly causing this.
With one urgent movement, Sheffer threw the gem back into the pack, then hastily slid it across the tiled floor, away from both of them. With the emerald a good distance away, the hedgehog once again peered into the mirror...
...it was still going.
"It's not stopping!" he said in a harsh whisper, looking to Ace.

"..."
The raccoon watched as the crystalline tumor grew out of the hedgehog's head. First thing that came to mind was "Huh...that's new."
He glanced at the sheriff as the cat lead the tumor-ridden hedgehog into the bathroom before finally swallowing the last bit of his doughnut. Then a look at the two-tailed Fox.
He started to open his mouth, as if to say or ask something, but stopped with a shake of his head, looking toward the bathroom again...unsure what to make of it.

"Oh sweet mother of cowboys..." She said softly watching the crystal spread at an alarming speed. All the humor from the harmless prank on Target was gone, replaces with shock, and fear. What if whatever that was, was contagious? Jack hurried towards him but not before the naked cat ran grabbed the hedgehog and disappeared into the men's room.
She stood shocked for a moment. What the heck? For a second it seemed like the Sheriff was content with waiting, but it wasn't long before she walked to the men's room and right inside. Target stomped into the dorms, dripping wet he eyed the members of the party. The trooper had abandoned his newly beloved t-shirt and started at the hedgehog. Then looked around, that wasn't a very good prank either! No one fessed up to the crimes, so Target would have to use his genius detective skills to figure it out.
"Waaaaait a minute." He said, turning towards the quiet member in the corner with his dark chao. "I don't remember you!" He said pointing a figure at the stowaway as it where. Being a robot Target didn't forget things, if he didn't remember something it meant he never knew it in the first place. The deputy was now reunited with his grenade launcher, raised it and pointed it at Juneu."Sheff, are you o-Holy molely." She gasped looking at the now faintly glowing crystal attacking his head.
"What the heck is causin' this?! there's gotta be a way ta stop it!" She said looking at the hedgehog horror struck. "We gotta get ya to a hospital or somethin'!"

Sheffer looked to Jack in shock, surprised that she had even followed the two in here. Well, it was her station, but one would think a person as herself would give some sort of privacy. Hell, Ace was already naked... but he was like the beforehand anyway.
"No! I-I'm fine... just give me a few minutes. Bet it will fall right off..."
He gave Ace a nervous glance, and a minuscule look to his pack in the far corner, hoping that the griffin did not see it. If she did, she'd more then likely hop right on over and take a look-see, and boom, there went their secret. If anything, Sheffer would make a dash for it before she had the chance to get her hands on it, and sprint the holy hell out of there. Being slowly covered in crystals was one thing, being forced to confess to an official was another.
In the meantime, the crystal layer continued its gradual spread, thankfully skipping his face for the time being, and beginning to crawl down his right arm, encasing his shoulder. It seemed to go right across his clothing as well; a sturdy cocoon that held anything nearby within. Where the substance had already traveled was changing too, his quills sprouting jagged extremities, making an already spiky animal even more prickly. It also appeared to thicken as well, the green of his skin, fur, and quills barely seeping through the almost clear rock.

Tails met Hoji's gaze, and then looked away, making an obvious effort not to meet the raccoon's eye.
He seemed to be wrestling with something internally. He looked at the bathroom door; he looked down at his feet; he looked up at the ceiling.
Then he started off for the bathroom, going from a shuffle into a jog into a run as he became more and more determined to do whatever it was he was going to do. Then he stopped and knocked, ever so politely, on the bathroom door.
