It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

Fenn stood there for a moment, gazing upon the solid structure, before realizing that his teammate's eyes were on him. He kinda stared back at Casey, before he got the idea. "Oh. Oh! Ohhh. Right. Me. I'm up. Good! Good, good. Now, lessee...What to do, what to do..." The panda stepped up to their present obstacle, and looked closely at what was readily available. It definitely was mechanized in some way, but it wasn't quite apparent just how. The only other thing that appeared to catch his eye was the odd decoration at the top of the door.

He decided it was time to put his goggles to use - flipping a switch on the side, Fenn activated the built-in scanner that had proved so helpful in many of his personal jobs. He took a few steps back in order to get a good view of the structure in its entirety, with the hopes that, from this digital examination, the goggles would provide him with some kind of clue or hint that would reveal anything that was hidden from their current perspective.

And of course, he was mumbling to himself. Old habits were hard to shake, apparently.

"...there could be... hidden paneling... perhaps... wiring..? Could show us the best way t'get in... Might not even be the right door. Ahh, the possibilities.. .. Feels a bit better that I don't have to keep an eye over my shoulder for guards tryin' t' stop me.."

Fenn took out a pen and notepad from his coat, and began to write something down, without even taking his hardened gaze off the door and its surroundings. After about a minute or two, he seemed to finish his scribblings, and passed both items over to Casey. "Here." ... ... ... It was tic-tac-toe, and Fenn had jotted an X in the center square.

"This might take a minute."

A misstep with the crumbling floor and a distant fall later, Desmond found himself dazed and disoriented at the bottom of a cavern of sorts. Within a few seconds, his blurred vision subsided and the ferret found himself staring directly at a seemingly misplaced eyeball. It gave the same threatening glare that another of its kind had given Casey a moment ago.

"I don't think I've seen one of you before" he muttered. Giving it a look up and down its pole like figure, the ferret smirked, "I can see why."

The same buzzing sound from earlier filled the air again a little ways away from Desmond, causing him to turn in wonder at the placement of the phone and how in the world it survived a landslide. "I'm fine" he responded to the worried canine as he traveled over the pile of ruble that his phone laid under.

Well that was the intention he had, until a tug from behind and a feeling of pulled fur stopped his progression. "What...?" The ferret inquired as he turned around, only to find his tail covered by another collection of fallen stones. "Um..." he eyed the agent and then turned to the heap. "Can I get some help *cough* here?" Stupid eye thing stop it!

The agent was about to join Fenn and Casey at the door, but paused mid-step at hearing Desmond. Looking at the ferret over his shoulder, Pax didn't hesitate to turn on his heel and quickly make his way over, though he did take a wide angle to avoid some of the prominent eyes-on-sticks in the way. Though the gas didn't seem to effective, the canine still chose to hold his breath while passing them.

"Does this kind of thing happen to you often?" the gray dog jokingly asked the ferret as he gripped a particularly large stone, lifting it with a drawn out, strained grunt and dropping it off to the side. With a brief sigh of relief, Pax went back to grab another one to repeat the process.

And fall she did. At first, she just thought that she'd forgotten that the ship doesn't actually land, but she was definitely falling for much longer then she thought she would. When the fish finally got the nerve to to look down, she saw that the ground was a long ways away - and coming up much faster then she would like.

"Oh damn. Damndamndamndamn." Obviously, something had happened to the ground. Squeezing her eyes tightly shut, she let panic reflexes take over. Avatar flipped to her feet and bent her knees - bracing for impact.

Thump.

The piranha landed on the ground hard, and rolled. Luckily she knew how to fall. Or at least her reflexes did.

"Painful.. Okay, gotta admit that hurt. Oh, and sorry for being late..."

If Geoff was at all negatively affected by the prolonged spinning, he sure didn't show it when he came to a skidding stop, barely even taking note of the gas-spewing pipes as they blurred past. All in all, he probably fared the best after the impromptu rock slide, merely patting off some wayward dust before turning his own attention to the door.

Being more of the "hit it till it breaks" type, the hedgehog's first thoughts were simply to just ram through the solid obstacle with whatever amount of force and crystal it would require. One inspection later, however, and he was already doubting the hasty idea. The door itself looked quite sturdy even without the metal casing, its thickness being an entirely different factor to consider. In the end, he just stepped forward and rested a palm on the smooth surface, looking around the barrier, hoping to spot whatever was meant to remove it.

"No point of havin' a door if there isn't a way to open it," he said, turning his eyes to Fenn. "Any luck, yet?"

Ivan lagged a bit behind the others as he finally climbed to his feet and dusted himself off. He jogged to catch up, but eventually came to a stop when they saw the big door what needed opening. It looked a bit on the sturdy side so he wasn't quite ready to commit to the bash it open crowd. Besides, with Fenn so quickly jumping in to do his thing, Ivan had little to bring to the table at the moment.

He folded his hands behind his head and waited. Either until the door was opened, or it was time to force it open.

Fenn stared at the bulky doorway intently as he gave it a thorough examination. He glanced towards Geoff as he switched the goggles off, moving them up to his forehead. "Well, nothing turned up that would suggest any hidden surprises, but..." He turned his eyes towards the metallic circle that lay atop the metallic frame. "... I'd wager that that li' guy isn't just there t'be pretty.."

The panda stretched for a moment before hopping into the air effortlessly, giving the circular piece a solid punch whenever he was close. He kept his eyes on the door the moment he returned to the ground, and waited.

...

He also snatched his pen and pad back from Casey and just drew X's all over the crude game board. "I win."

The door slid upward and wide open with the strangest warbling, puttering sound. Yes, the button to open the door was in fact right above the door, and was a big, round, yellow, obvious button the entire time. The fact that it was about the size of a beach ball may have added to the confusion about just what function it served, but, leave it to the weird tech guy to solve the problem.

Beyond, the cave seemed to shift to a different palette. While the light where they just were already had a bluish tinge to it owing to the sky peering down through the volcanic opening, even the stone itself got that much cooler looking, and the steely surfaces, including metal floor, only added to the aesthetic. Some warm light, as if firelight, periodically lit up around a corner ahead, though.

Scratch that. It came right around the corner and charged at them. A trio of so-called Fireworms, a type of spiky, orange-striped, serpentine robot, undulating and puffing fire from their backs, squirmed their way through the air toward the party at a brisk pace, with clearly malicious intent.

They had faced much worse. The four-foot-long machines, though unfriendly and none too approachable, were again lackluster compared to the threats they had just finished facing on the airship the day before.

Casey had not moved from the moment the paper had been stuffed into his hand. His head shifted degrees downward; he stared, and blinked once, solemnly; then he continued to stare at his empty palm once the page was torn away, before looking back at the opening door, blank.

"He's a special boy," the hog at least announced quietly, and let his hand drop to his side as he trudged dutifully onward, toward the incoming threat, gunarm raised, and just a hint of a smile on the corners of his mouth.

"I call righty."

Bang-bang-bang went the shots, muzzle flash strobing the corridor.

"Not really, this is like a first in a long while" He replied the the dog as he tried his best to help with his own rescue. "It's just..." he heaved a stone away, making the pile one rock lighter "I have terrible luck all of the sudden when I met up with these guys" he eyed the group right after he finished his sentence. As he continued, the ferret threw a smile at the agent, "But it's just that I'm not used to being, well, up so close with this field work, y'know?"

Finished removing the pile, the freed Desmond whipped his tail to remove from dust from his posterior. With a quick flick of the wrist the Toxomister located closest to him became a simple stump with small plugs sparkling fizzes of electricity from its remnants. "Sorry" he finished as he sheathed his knife, "the thing was bugging me."

Desmond looked at the wall that was moving and the new enemies that are approaching, which weren't that intimidating in the first place and all in all probably wouldn't be a problem for the boar. Walking past the remaining fume spraying eye rods, he waited behind Casey as he proceeded to place holes in the mechanical worms.

Desmond's casual "decapitation" of the Toxomister only got a slightly awkward nod from Paxton. He opened his mouth to reply with words, but the opening of the door and subsequent machine gun fire cut him off and forced his attention. "Aw, cripes," was all he muttered before he took off running, paying the eye-stalk robots no further attention. Though the enemies were not that intimidating in terms of strength or numbers, Pax seemed to approach the situation with earnest severity. The dog whipped by everyone between him and the door to take the point alongside Casey, reaching into his vest with his right hand and producing a sizable gray pistol with a sleek but heavy design.

Sticking close to the left side of the doorway, the canine operative raised the gun in both hands and aimed it at the Fireworm approaching the group from the left. If it wasn't winding its way through the air at a quick pace, he would have stopped to aim carefully at its head. But as it were, Paxton compromised quality for quantity, and squeezed the trigger three times, each shot sending a small but speedy bolt of bright yellow energy zipping at the snake-like robot.

With that onslaught of gunfire from both Pax and Casey, the squirmy little buggers were done with in short order; with sound pops, they released green, translucent orbs containing small animals. After the orbs fizzled out, the animals, which had been encased for quite some time, sat there and looked around in a stupor, before scurrying off. (One of them, a little rabbit, ran smack into the wall. Twice. ... Three times. It was an embarrassment to Ivan's distant genealogical roots. It eventually got away.)

Going forward from there, though, it looked like the robotic opposition was quite... light. Instead, it was the terrain that got hazardous. Pipes in the walls occasionally vented jets of hot, flaming gases right across the path. The first actually came by surprise, surging a fiery divide right through the middle of the party, between those at the front and the back. It'd be a wonder if someone didn't get singed. Thankfully, it stopped quickly. Meanwhile, other pipes just burned intensely, putting off enough heat to warn that touching them would be... unwise. What was all the machinery for, anyway?

They eventually approached a broad chasm. The fall was immense, and, of all the things, there were beds of spikes at the bottom. A pipe, probably ten feet in diameter, made a sturdy, stable-looking crossing to the other side, though it was polished and shiny to the point of being slick. The way the pipe was horizontally ribbed and segmented, it almost looked like it was supposed to have moving parts.

Something whipped by overhead with a flapping rustle. It was too dark and gloomy-blue inside to tell what it was.

The place suddenly seemed foreboding; quiet, dim, depressingly blue, hissing with distant jets of flame, and clanking and grinding with subterranean machinery, dry, sulfur-smelling air, not a hint of daylight, and not a single bit of architecture that actually looked like it was intended for living things to traverse... This was their path, however. The AI had supplied them with a map and bearings to where they'd be most likely to find the technology they were looking for, and if anyone took a moment to check it, they were on the right heading.

The other end of the big pipeline, if they made it across, would confront them with high ledges to climb, as the builder had included no stairs, and just terraced surfaces by ten or twenty feet here and there. Still, the "made it across" part was a big "if."

Once the fish got her bearings, realized that the others in her party were already further ahead. It wasn't like she wasn't expecting it - she was rather late. So, with a quick shake of the head, Avatar got up and sprinted over to the others - casting strange glances at the poles-with-an-eye.

After finally finding the party, the fish said - slightly breathless: "Hey. Anything interestin' happen while I was gone?"

Angel Island's supposed hazardous terrain was starting to prove itself with each step forward, it's innards perhaps not supplying the most cheery of visits. Geoff had been warned, though, and it was partially his choice to come venturing into the unstable island in the first place. That surely didn't stop the audible CHNK of fast-generating armor the moment a pillar of fire erupted inches from his face, interrupting their brisk stroll through the caverns. Even with the hasty defense mechanism, the hedgehog had stared with stiff alertness even a bit after the flames died down before finally uprooting himself forward, eyes wary as they continued onward.

By the time they reached the chasm, Geoff was certainly perturbed by the environment. His demeanor remained steady, however, as he peered down at the distant floor of pointy doom.

"Whatever ya saw comin' in could be your answer right there," he decided to reply to the girl, wondering if she'd even took the time to notice the multiple hazards now behind them. The thought was lost when he looked over across the empty space, eying the pipe that bridged across the sides.

He took a deep breath, resting a foot on the pipe and testing the traction before looking back to the others.

"Think we're in agreement to go one at a time?" he asked.

No matter the answer, the hedgehog would start walking forward, pointedly staying on the dead center of the pipe as he moved across gradually, not wishing to be hasty. It wouldn't be too long before he reached the other side just as long nothing interfered.

The goggles had soon returned to their rightful place over the panda's eyes as they progressed onward. Now and then, everyone may have noticed the occasional click or flash as the bear started taking snapshots of all of the machines they came across. More note-taking, it seemed.

As the party reached the chasm, Fenn stood near the pipe and gazed across, reaching into his coat. He retrieved the grappling hook that had proved so useful once before (in that it turned Casey into an active pinball), but didn't quite chuck it over to a ledge just yet. He waited until Geoff had made it relatively close to the end before making any moves to attempt walking the pipe.

If anything knocked him aside, he'd have his hook at the ready to yank himself out of danger -- or even be ready to save someone unlucky enough to take the plunge instead.
