Latika's words were lost to the hedgehog, too busy being on the blunt end of Chunese martial arts to grant anything his attention. It was a blessing, however, that this next series of strikes weren't charged with the potent energy the lizard had been so willing to show. Instead of letting his body be the source of an explosive display of shattering crystal, Geoff was now only a rocky punching bag. The staff, even with the strength wielded behind it, was just simply not having that grand of an effect on his armor anymore. That didn't stop him from still feeling the proper punch from the weapon. Rocky defense or not, the swing at his head hit its mark with a solid smack, jerking it to the side, a jagged crack running up one of his eyes. The attempt to smash the ends of the staff together through the hedgehog's skull finally gave him enough sense to actually maneuver, ducking just in time, the strike barely skimming across the top of his head. The next kick met its mark, though, stumbling Geoff back one step before the final sweep properly brought him down for the first time, crystal and all. Now all of this — from the barely traceable CE-infused swings to the absent chance of striking back — was becoming a nuisance. More than that, really. It was an aggravated sense of helplessness from being caught in the continuous barrage. Yes, he had the protection, and yes, he wasn't out of the count quite yet, but never before had he felt this pushed into a inescapable corner. There were moments facing the long gone Seven when that feeling nearly manifested to this level, but whatever was thrown his way, he always eventually triumphed over. But this guy, this punk with a stick, no less, was blocking him from his goal and making a fool of the hedgehog in the process. And he was mad. Crystal clattered to the ground, armor abandoned as Geoff propelled forward from one knee with abandon, a merciless flare in his eye. His arms gathered at his side, his body twisting with them, and like energy released from a spring, clenched hands swung forward. With the motion, crystal grew into existence so quickly, it was like the pole of rock now in the hedgehog's hands audibly cracked upon its appearance. Within the entire second of the motion, a weapon had been conjured and been snagged into the momentum of his hands, having every intention to wallop the lizard with as much force as the attacker could muster. |

Perhaps Desmond wasn't familiar with the technology behind EMP grenadesNot trying to make this hard on you, man, but what Desmond did to himself is pretty much a self-KO and will remove him from the fight for this thread. Fortunately, I believe this thread is about to end. and thought it'd just zap him with electricity; whatever the case, the GUN-issued EMP bomb he held directly in his hand was actually an explosively-pumped flux compression generator, which, in order to function, had to contain a significant explosive charge. In essence, the little cylinder of science-fiction-made-reality was a concussion grenade with some capacitors and copper windings. It didn't fling quite so much deadly shrapnel as a fragmentation grenade would, but the explosive force was still there (albeit in a comparatively small blast radius). Meanwhile, in the fight against the mystery-man with the staff, Geoff's swing actually met with its target solidly. The lightning-fast combatant had flowed and turned to parry and block after obliterating Casey's thrown attack, but, well, he just missed it, and even if he had made the block, the power of the stony strike would have doubtlessly overcome it. In the chaos of the action, it was hard to tell which part of him had been smacked, but it looked like it had hit somewhere around head and shoulder. Either way, it sent the neatly-dressed lizard tumbling through the dust and smoke, thudding and clattering, the chains of his staff jangling as it flew separate from him. |

Geoff wasn't quite finished. Even in the wake of success, he had no reason to believe the lizard would just up and quit thanks to one lucky strike, so when the said reptile went tumbling into the dust, the hedgehog hastily followed. Before the thug leader's momentum even stopped, Geoff was upon him, driving an unarmored foot downward into his gut. There may have been smoke and other debris obscuring the whole room, but with how fast the spiky one had followed, he could at least make out an outline. Depending on the success of his pursuit, Geoff's hands would then grasp downward. Holding onto the navy coat the lizard wore with a solid grip, he would promptly execute the same trick he managed back on the train; pulling his opponent right into the twirling, high-pitched mess of a spindash. It didn't last long (dragging another body (one more than likely resisting) into a one-man maneuver was clumsy at its best), but the hedgehog at least intended to launch the lizard farther into the the smokey depths of the atrium after one or two revolutions, making sure to put a comfortable distance between Geoff's acquaintances and the reptile's lost staff. |

Tracer kept moving, Desmond had landed a good distance off when she'd just ran into him, so when the grenade went off, it was too far away to do any real harm. Her boosters did shut off, but it took them a moment to do so, given she had partial insulation. So by the time they'd died all together she had already lost a lot of momentum and had slowed down. So after a stumbling hop she started running again. She lost some time over all, but the atrium wasn't THAT big, and soon she'd found her tunnel. It was a short jog through, she slowed as she reached the train, sparing a moment to glance back and see if anyone had managed to follow them. She knew the explosion and the loss to her engines had been due to the Ferret, but she didn't know if he'd set something off or if he had exploded. It never hurt to be weary. |

"Hurry where?!" Casey's voice shouted back through the smoke. It hadn't been very long yet, but it was starting to thin at least a little. Soon, his thick silhouette could be seen trundling toward her. "There you are, are you—" He stopped short and glanced at the weapon, then the piles of... well, people scattered immediately around her. His brows dropped flat. "Did you—" |

By benefit of their haste, Geoff's chain of attacks worked—for the most part. His enemy's jacket was not the most rugged piece of outerwear, and almost as soon as he began to be spun by it, the strained article's buttons popped and the whole thing gave way, sending the lizard flying straight up rather than on the intended vector. The now-shirtless reptile flailed and tumbled upward, then struck the ceiling, yet somehow didn't even seem dazed by it, despite the sudden onslaught of punishment. As he fell free, he did not even truly fall, but instead... flew? Maybe gliding was the more appropriate term for it. Colorful, wildly-tattooed, wing-like spans connected his arms to his equally tattoo-covered body, and carried him in a swift, swooping dive straight away, skimming just above the ground behind, then past Tracer and Archer on his way through the tunnel opening toward the train boarding area. As Tracer and Archer arrived in the station, themselves, they were ushered aboard by a number of guards in paramilitary gear, apparently there to cover the escape and help get everyone on the train who was supposed to be on the train. The well-dressed business-mouse on the platform would soon hear an order come through the radio from higher up the chain—that is, the boss himself. "Change of plans. We leave right now." |

The mouse stared down at the device for a moment, with no change in expression. With a flat hum, he shrugged and pocketed the radio, and casually boarded the train behind Tracer, Archer, and their "luggage." Ohhh crap. The train is leaving. Tyra suddenly realized her brilliant plan wasn't quite so brilliant. But maybe there was a way to turn it around. The wolverine had barely laid her hands on the roof of the train car when she heard the order burst out of the mouse's radio, so the girl clung to the side of the subway train, barely out of view of the various guards on the platform. Tyra considered just hitching a ride to wherever they were heading--until a brief glance down the line showed her that the trains passed through very narrow concrete corridors, like most subways, and attempting to ride the outside of the train would probably result in her going splat on the wall. And she didn't want to add "splatted against a wall" to the list of reasons why she hated this day. With a growl, she let go, dropping to the side of the train where, presumably, no one was watching or lingering around. She would just have to sneak back down along the platform and make her way back. If these guys weren't armed to the friggin' teeth, I could take 'em on easy, she thought bitterly. Tyra felt something odd. It was that kind of irritating feeling of someone staring at you. The wolverine girl looked up into the train car window, and saw the vanilla mouse gazing down on her, sunglasses removed and a grim frown on his face. Tyra locked eyes with him with her own glare, and the pair stared at each other for a moment. Then, the mouse closed his eyes, visibly sighed and shook his head, and walked away. With a twitch of anger, she ducked down behind the platform and started heading back to where she was hiding before. She'd probably have to break the news that they all just wasted their time... |

Soon enough, Casey and Latika were joined by the rock-bearer of their squad, the now former launching pad looking a little weary as he trudged through the smoke and dust. The lizard was gone, the hedgehog's goal of just getting rid of the guy more or less achieved in a sense, and now it was time to regroup. He looked a bit rushed, however, even in his tired state, knowing things weren't probably over just yet. "Okay, do we have any clue of whats going on?" he questioned, still oblivious to Latika's earlier yell of warning. His eyes at least seemed vigilant as he glanced between the boar and loris. |

Shouts in Chunese rang through the station at the notice of departure. The utter crowd of individuals (who looked like a strange mix of businessmen, thugs, and soldiers) dropped what they were doing and made a clamoring beeline to finish boarding as the aged-looking passenger train started to creep. The stench of the diesel engine was pungent in those closed-off quarters, but it wouldn't last for long. The train soon accelerated until its tail end vanished from sight through the dark tunnel. It didn't vanish simply because it went away, though; it vanished because they actually set off a bomb at the mouth of the tunnel. Those who remained and hadn't gotten to board ducked and covered as bits of concrete flew and a rush of smoky dust passed over them, puffing as far out as the central lobby where everyone had been fighting before. The opening to the tunnel thoroughly collapsed itself, leaving a mess of rubble to stand on the tracks between Li Fang and any potential pursuers. Those who remained stood dumbfounded a moment, staring at what had just happened. Maybe not everyone had been filled in on the entirety of the plan; some looked as genuinely shocked as the invading party may have been. They must have shown up with a plan B, though, because the scattered folks remaining soon hustled back to action, grabbing equipment and continuing the move-out initiative to another location. |

At Geoff's question, Casey took initiative to find out what was going on, boldly forging on through the smoke, toward the tunnel that led to the boarding platform, just following the noise and the ruckus. Of course, all he was rewarded with was a blast of yet more heat, dust and smoke. By this point, he was getting pretty tired of coughing. "Hggagh, frhgghn ghgn ahghagh," observed Casey with utmost eloquence. And phlegm. He kept forging on. The big pig didn't need quite so much stealth as Tyra had been exercising. Not only had any sentries abandoned their post to try to board the train prior, but also, there was the general shroud of smoke and chaos to deal with, too. Perhaps it was only through dumb luck that he actually ended up stumbling upon the girl. "Hey!" he whisper-shouted. He did his best to also conceal himself, probably with limited success. "It's you! Uh. You!" He didn't remember her name. "Where'd they go?!" |

The girl stood up, the need for stealth (and her patience for it) fading as the general chaos filled the room. She climbed back up onto the platform, making a token attempt at looking nonchalant, and greeted the hog with an annoyed glare. "It's Tyra. Tyra Gulo. Not that hard," she corrected him. Now she had to answer the hard question... She let out a quick sigh of aggravation and explained, "I think they got on the subway train and took off...and then the tunnel exploded. So...yeah, your friend's gone, along with..." The wolverine trailed off, rubbing the back of her neck and glancing at the various people still rushing around, sticking to whatever crazy schedule the gangsters had. |

Casey gave her a flat, dead-eyed stare that could only say: "Really?" A closer look into the suddenly void-like depths of his dark eyes may have also revealed implications of a phrase such as, "Is now really the time to be egotistical about your name around complete strangers who just met you?" But that was a particularly long and kludgy phrase to intuitively read from one's eyes, and thus really only serves as narrative here. Moving on, the hog just shook his head and snorted in aggravation. "This is friggin' bad," he muttered as he stared off toward the destroyed tunnel. "Now they got the whole kit 'n kaboodle, if that thing actually works..." Without further deliberation, he turned and made to get away, motioning for the wolverine to follow as he skulked back toward the tunnel from which they came. They were as done as they could be. |
