"Cat. Yellow. Taken from a hospital," listed off Geoff with impatience, still steadily walking forward. It was about this time that the hedgehog started to take notice of all the racket occurring from somewhere beyond the abandoned subway's atrium, his eyes darting to the side to one of the corridors. Confusion managed to furrow his brow a bit as he saw the smoke issuing from the hall out into the main room. It didn't look anything related to a fire, so he came to the only other conclusion; a diversion. Geoff paused then, looking between the lizard and the smoke-filled corridor like someone coming across a fork in the road. |

"We have a blue cat," shrugged the lizard with genuine indifference. He really didn't seem to know Ace's whereabouts. Then, just as unceremoniously, with no warning, the crimson reptile whipped the three-sectional staff to full length, lunged, swung it broadly around, overhead, then down in a flash—literally. The weapon surged with chaos energy from its wielder, and the impact of the wild, raging blow would literally split the tile floor and the concrete girding it beneath into a foot-deep trench, sending dust and stony bits flying to both sides. Moving with obscenely freakish speed, he followed the strike through with a cartwheeling lunge to Casey, where he executed a low, sweeping, similarly charged strike at the boar's legs. |

Hearing a possible loud noise down a corridor, the ferret decided to take his chances on going to find out what person or persons were causing the commotion, traveling at a cautious pace in case whoever he would meet down the hall ended up not being a friendly. Down the hall and close enough to smell smoke, the ferrets pace slowed down almost to a crawl as he checked further down the pathway. Keeping his eyes peeled for any movement, Desmond noticed two figures coming down the hall. The first figure he noticed was a buck who looked like the ticket man he had met previously. The apparent archer loaded his bow and fired an arrow right over the ferret, who only kept eye on it for a moment, quickly turning his attention back to the duo. After which case he noticed the second figure, a tall, and apparently armored person, caring a body... who was a bit hard to distinguish at first glance because of the partially charred fur (and lack of signature clothing). Apart from the two characters approaching him, the archer's next move gained his attention. The deer pulled out a pair of bolas from his pouch and began swinging the tools above himself. "That's probably for me," the ferret thought as he eyed the trap. Quickly looking back he saw the build of smoke piling up behind him, leaving his available options as run or gun. "Aw hell man..." he grumbled, the choice quickly boiled down as soon the buck released the bolas, flying right for his legs. Decision made, he made a backwards hop, dodging the bolas and giving himself a chance to try and make a quick getaway. Looking back while he ran, he attempted to hide by running towards the build up of smoke. |

My Casey posting has been a bit sporadic, but I've just been keeping busy with NPC posting and other stuff, so. Bear with me. I didn't want him to be a very big participant in this fight, anyway. Whatever may have become of Geoff, hit or miss, Casey was unprepared for what followed despite his best efforts. Being a man of straightforward and simple tastes, he had decided to just pick a rock up off the ground and use it as a weapon. No sooner than he'd hefted the chunk of debris (probably shed from the previous grenade explosions) off the ground, however, he was right back eye-to-eye with the gritty, gravelly floor. He wasn't even really sure of what had happened. One second the guy with the staff was twenty feet away, the next, he was right there, and Casey was literally barrel-rolling in midair as his feet were violently swept out from under him. A couple spins later and the hog landed on his gut on the floor, and blinked at it, more stunned than truly pained. Casey put on his angry-face and dutifully pushed himself up again, anyway. "This's gone on long eno—" A smokescreen like a wall suddenly washed into and across the atrium, obscuring the fight even as it was happening. The burly boar whipped his head around blindly and staggered a few disoriented steps. "Aw, heck." |

Even though Geoff was expecting more from the lizard than just idly standing there, the suddenness and speed of the strike nearly caught the hedgehog off guard. Unfortunately, he made the decision of jumping backwards, so where he originally believed he'd avoided the staff-wielders initial strike, he only found himself tumbling into the gaping trench now waiting for him beneath his feet. He landed on his back with an "oof!", dust puffing out from the impact point. More aggravated than hurt from the lizard's chaos-energy-infused trick, Geoff quickly scrambled out of the relatively shallow ditch, already preparing to give pursuit to wherever his attacker had fled off to. Such goals would soon be challenged by the advancing smoke, however, the hedgehog soon blind, and no matter how many time he swung his eyes back and forth, that sure wasn't changing. "Damnit." Geoff carefully took a few, tense strides forward to at least put some distance between him and the ditch, but other than that precaution, he was lost on what to do now. |

Geoff got warning of something coming his way in the form of cracking and shattering noises, and what looked like a glowing pinwheel. It spun for a couple seconds, dust blowing clear away from it by the sheer force and speed; the energized staff nicked the ground with each revolution, ripping up a shred of tile and floor. Then, whoosh. The three-sectional staff blurred, spinning and curling around its wielder's body in an incomprehensible dance of motion as he leapt forward and suddenly lashed out with tremendous reach and power in a diagonal slash. He whirled so quickly that one swipe became three, then changed directions. The staff tore up another section of floor as it swished low for a rising strike from the left, then another from the right, the central shaft of the weapon rotating with its wielder's neck as an axis. The sheer volume and speed of attacks combined with their range made the notion of counterattacking the guy laughable, if not just plain suicidal. But, whatever happened in the course of the swings, there came a pause wherein the fighter halted his advance with each of the end-sections of his weapon held firmly in both hands like individual clubs. His stance was still firm and controlled, but it looked like he was practically gulping air; maybe it wasn't such an easy thing to keep such energized, high-speed attacks going. |

The lizard couldn't be more obvious with his approach as he whirled his staff, giving Geoff the ample time needed to prepare. Yet, with the head thug emerging from the smoke with his weapon flaring with light and energy, it formed an unsettling sight. The hedgehog only returned the sense of preparation, more crystallized armor being conjured as he dropped his club-like weapon, opting to raise his arms into a more defensive position. The sheer speed with which the lizard first slashed was nearly overwhelming, Geoff jerking out his right arm in a quick block. Whatever layer of rock that covered his forearm erupted in a brilliant display of shards, slashing a notable gash in the armor, exposing the skin beneath. This continued with the next swing and all those that followed, the staff cutting away at the green rock with some success, the hedgehog using his limbs to block when he could, regenerating his crystal with as much haste as possible. The fight would have been quite the show. Light flared with each strike, reflecting off Geoff's armor as fragments of it were dashed off in every direction. The ground was torn to bits, debris being scattered. From beyond the veil of smoke, it would have appeared to be some sort of storm of the elements, flashing and erupting. By the time the assault was over, Geoff still stood in one piece. The same couldn't be said about his crystal though, looking more like a jagged skeleton than a proper covering of armor, the hedgehog inside exposed at multiple points. His breathing was ragged from the attempts at keeping his armor intact, but his eyes were alive with energy. With that look, it was to no surprise he leaped forward aggressively the moment the lizard paused, one hand groping for the middle section of the staff, the other ready to launch itself at the lizard's head. |

Tyra was getting tired of her scouting spot. She needed a better perspective. Somewhere that no one would look, but she could see everything. A brief glancing around gave her an idea: the top of the train. Of course. The wolverine checked to make sure no one was looking her way before she slipped off to the side, dropping from the platform onto the rails, hoping that these weren't the kind of trains that ran on electric rails. Keeping her head down, trying to use the elevated platform for cover, she creeped closer to the subway cars. As she walked, she realized she was drawing closer to the mouse with the walkie-talkie, who was quite occupied issuing orders to who-knows-who. It was easier to hear him talk, though it was impossible to hear whoever was on the other side of the radio. "Yes, I want the gas there, and make sure you keep it tightly sealed. You know what it will do to you... No, it's not temperature-sensitive... Hold on, let me check with Felix..." Tyra couldn't help but roll her eyes. He made devious criminal enterprising sound boring. Fortunately, she soon had something else to focus on: climbing to the top of the subway cars without being spotted... As he talked, the mouse checked the watch on his wrist. Seeing the time, he cut off his current conversation and adjusted the frequency of the transceiver. "Attention people," he announced with clarity and high volume, "the train is leaving in a matter of minutes. If you're not on board, you will be left behind. If you're in need of a ride, start hurrying now." |

Tracer didn't waste her time, when the ferret decided he wasn't going to immediately get in the way she barreled forward at a full run, her boosters ignited and carried her at full speed in long, low leaps across the floor. Getting into the purple llama's way would be akin to getting in the way of a car, a big metal death trap of a car. Tracer pointed herself in the direction she knew the hall she wanted was in, and she was very determined to continue in that direction, cat and all. If she managed to get across the room, mostly unmolested, she'd follow the wall to the tunnel she needed to escape. and continue her lunging leaps to relative safety down said hall, and towards the escape train. |

It was unfortunate that his bolas ended up behing a waste, but the ferret's reaction was hard to argue with. Archer continued into the smoke screen he'd created. Then, Tracer barreled out of it like a freight train. A rocket powered freight train. He exited the smoke, trailing behind her as she carved a path through the chaos trying very hard to be a difficult target as he darted across the atrium. His destination was obviously the same as Tracer's. |

The lizard was strong and fast; it seemed like he could have stopped Geoff from grabbing on just by shuffling back a single step and withdrawing, but he didn't. Maybe it's because having someone dare to grab at the weapon was more dangerous for the grabber than the grabbed. When Geoff threw that punch, the lizard used the nearest end of the staff to deflect it by smacking the incoming arm off to the side with a loud clatter. It wasn't a charged-up attack like the others, so it probably wouldn't actually hurt the armored appendage, but it had sufficient force to redirect a punch. The same instant, the other end was swung like a club, its path intended to clobber straight across the hedgehog's armored face. It became a flurry. The strikes were not energized like the previous ones, but took fractions of a second, and had considerable force; left and right with the ends of the metal three-sectional staff, a side kick, then both ends as clubs simultaneously at both sides of Geoff's head, before performing a backflipping topkick. The instant he landed in a crouch from that flip, the attack transitioned into a flat, wide, ground-level sweep with the staff. His raw speed, and the number of motions he could squeeze into a single tick of the clock was flabbergasting, to say the least. But then, there was another beat—a rigid pause in his attack where he froze and sucked in a huge breath. His outline gained a strange, golden glow. |

A "hurg!" came from the smoky depths. A chunk of concrete flew at the glowing lizard, whose position was better given away by the fact that he was, well, glowing. It was no doubt propelled by their most portly team member, Casey, who was still actively trying to figure out how to be useful without actually being able to spew bullets at things. |

The mysterious staff-fighter flinched quickly toward the noise, and with a single, streaking stroke split the hunk of cement into a burst of gravel and clanging rebar. For that second, though, his back was turned to Geoff. |

For all her efficiency and control prior, Latika had accomplished precious little since bowing out of the fight. Between the smoke, the incessant clouds of dust from the sheer amount of stuff being broken, and the resonant din, it was safe to say the loris was pretty well disoriented. There was a lot of grunting and shouting -- often she couldn't tell who -- and every now and again, she thought she caught a glimpse of someone glowing, which for reasons she didn't really need to consider, didn't sit well with her. With her captured weapon held coiled in one hand, the porter stifled her coughs as best she could with the other, as she blindly tripped and stumbled her way towards... well, she couldn't really tell. The intent had been to divine the origin of the haze (which is to say, the direction it had come from), and follow it, putting the old adage, "where there's smoke, there's fire" to the test. It was a logical theory to be sure, as apparently, their gracious hosts did not want them headed that way; the problem was actually discerning the correct corridor from the incorrect ones. "Cannot... seeing... anythi--OOF!" ... or a wall. ...or the floor. Or unconscious goons on the floor. "Attention people," announced the hard, plastic receiver on the body she'd just stubbed her toe on. "The train is leaving in a matter of minutes. If you're not on board, you will be left behind. If you're in need of a ride, start hurrying now." "Aiya, Geoff-la, Casey-la! Body on floor say train is leaving soon," cried Latika, scrambling toward the nearest exit. "Ace probably on train, or heading for it! Hurry!" |

Head looking back at the two adversaries plus one, Desmond took a short and closer look at the slumped figure held on the suited figures shoulder. The tinges of yellow made his mind click as his memory came together. "Ace?" Second's later the suited figure began to burst forward at full speed, accelerating a lot quicker than the ferret expected for one so heavily burdened. Not enough time to make much of a decision, and vision beginning to shroud from the smoke, the ferret made a foolish maneuver in an attempt to save the cat's hide. He attempted to try and stop the figure from getting wherever he or she needed to get, while also trying to reset and rearm his EMP grenade. His feeble barricade attempt proved no match for the pile of armor and it's superb speed, which he would soon realize before he could even regret his decision. "Stop!" he yelled as he turned himself into the path of the armored kidnapper, faced sideways to gain some footing. "Oh wait a-" he rethought seconds later as he then got hit full force by the oncoming armored foe. His gun quickly dropped to the floor on first impact, and while still being thrown aside by the force of the blow, his other hand jerked quickly and pressed the detonate button on his grenade, and with less than a second left since it's last disarming, caused the EMP grenade to painfully detonate in his hand and a blue field of electricity to encompass the blast radius around him. Finally flying through the air he hit the ground hard, land on his side, covered by the smoke and basically ending up in the same condition the healthiest of goons beaten by the porter girl were in, groaning and rolling around. The world seemed to be buzzing and all he could really feel was a agonizing pain trailing down his whole left arm and all the way to his hand as he flopped around on the floor. |
