|
Updates Sonic Spindash RP is closed.Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.
It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

The colorful pheasant may as well have been in cold grayscale for the deadened level of enthusiasm with which he responded to Geoff's claim with.
"Oh. So Eggman's just 'out of the picture'," he replied plainly, in a tone that just may have been sarcastic, while ignoring the question. "So, some teenage hedgehog's trying to tell me we were out here risking our lives for nothing — and that I shouldn't get worked up about it, even though my friends are dead. For nothing."
Insert a frigid silence, save for the steady clacking of the tracks. Geoff's (perhaps inappropriately timed) levity was being poorly received.
"Go ask one of Li Fang's men if you want answers about Li Fang," he said while gesturing forcefully toward one of the troops (who may or may not have been alive), "but leave me the hell alone. I've got other things to be doing." And with that, he resumed sorting through the debris of the busted crate, stepping in over the splintered wood and nails, and reaching to pull one of his comrades out. This guy had probably become a dead end as far as information-gathering went.

The big, burly hog stood there, looking as though he felt very much out of place, somehow indicted simply for being there. He swallowed uneasily, but finally, lowly uttered a quiet "Well," as if to digress.
... Casey didn't say anything else, though, unable to find anything particularly poignant or useful to add in the moment, and instead wandered quietly over to squat next to the downed troop and investigate his... condition.

More than a little sheepish at having struck out so early in the interrogation process, Latika was only too willing to step back (see: hide behind Casey), and let someone who actually knew what they were doing take over. Geoff's assertiveness certainly inferred that capability, but his lack of sensitivity to their questionee seemed to cost them in the end, and when excused to do so by the bird's indignation, followed the burly boar over to suspect #2.
She squatted next to him in kind, evoking imagery of a child imitating the observed behaviors of its parent; she stared at the body of the supposed agent of "Li Fang" as though deep in thought.
"You want start this guy?" hedged the porter, her stare resolutely on the felled thug. "Don't want me to jump over the gun again."

Casey touched the troop's neck, then picked up his wrist. " MnnnnI think this one's dead," declared the hog with all the due emotional attachment one might have in declaring a plant or a goldfish expired. Just as he dropped the guy's hand, though, there was a great gasp, and the troop sat up with a lunge, disoriented, and started trying to claw his way to his feet, all the while reaching for a sidearm. "Oh, nope, still fresh!" Casey corrected himself. Then, out of the blue, he proceeded to backhand the guy several times in a row, pick him up off the ground, slam him into the wall, drop him back on the ground, and kick him in the ribs, reach down, take his gun, smack him over the head with it, throw it out the open side door of the train, and kick him again for good measure. He then picked the guy up again and held him suspended off the ground by his collar. "Now talk." The guy babbled in Chunese. "Not that! English!" bellowed Casey, shaking him like a ragdoll. More Chunese. "... Well, heck," muttered the boar.

Corin took in what was happening around him in incredibly uncharacteristic silence, stroking his little goatee thoughtfully. "So the egg-shaped fellow is out of the way," and--
And then he was cut off by Casey's treatment of the troop, and he sprung right back into his usual (loud) method of dealings. Whether or not it occurred to him that if the troop couldn't understand Casey, the chances of it understanding him approached complete, utter zero.
"So this is the fiend! Or, rather-like, an underling of the fiend! A lead, at any rate!" Cue the spear, prodding unceremoniously with the business end thereof into the all-but-anonymous fellow's side. "Speak, you mangy scoundrel, in the name of all that is just!"
More than likely, this wasn't helping.

Geoff only stared at the multi-colored bird, a rushed silence settling down on the hedgehog. Although the guy's dismissal of Geoff's truth brought sparks of irritation, a slight clench in his chest made clear the slight regret he had with his own casual words. Stranger or not, he had seen a the ends of a few of the bird's companions. An apology may has well been forming on the hedgehog's lips by this point, but he abandoned the thought. Continuing to prod with conversation would perhaps not be the best of ideas, considering the bird's current disposition.
Instead, Geoff turned back to the proceedings occurring behind him, filled with foreign dialect and... spear waving by the caped fellow.
"Stabbin' him through the throat isn't going to get him any closer to sayin' somethin' we understand," he said, butting into Corin's extravagant theatrics, suddenly jutting a thumb towards Latika. "She could translate for us anyway." He gave her a glance then, as if trying not to have considerateness be completely absent . "That is, if you don't mind."

Latika was alarmingly unfazed by the hog's guest relations practices. In fact, the only thing she seemed to take issue with came about as Geoff strolled forward, volunteering her for linguistic support.
"Green Sonic not culturally sensitive," she mused with a frown. "I could translate maybe if guy speak mostly any dialect of Pelanese country, but my English better than my Chunese."
Still, with a shake of her head, the loris stepped directly in front of the felled goon, and, with hands on her hips, and incredibly poor sentence structure, attempted to address him.
"Um."
"什么 李昉 Norden Circle 要... uh, 为...?"
She either just (very roughly) asked, "What does Li Fang want the Norden Circle for?," or, "Does Li Fang like Norden Circle on his pancakes?"
Here's to hoping.

The troop, his eyes very squinted like they wanted to swell shut, glanced between Latika and the boar (who still held him suspended off his feet), and seemed to carefully contemplate his answer, between tired, heaving breaths. Either that, or he wasn't sure what she had asked.
He must have had some rough idea of what she asked, but was so certain she wouldn't understand the reply that he indeed called upon his limited English, and, in reasonably plain words, wheezed:
"Change... the world."

"Punk does speak English," grunted Casey. "Doesn't make a lick'a sense either way," he further observed.
The big pig mashed his gunarm's barrel up into the guy's cheek, meanwhile looking him over for anything else that may have been dangerous. More guns, grenades, knives, etc... If found, he'd probably instruct someone else to deal with them. If not...
"Maybe this is pointless," he thought aloud. "I mean, this really ain't any a'my business to go trackin' down train robbers."

"Really isn't any of our business," Ember weighed in thoughtfully, "Not anyone's business really."
For a moment there was consideration. It didn't make sense to go out and chase down people she didn't even know, for people she knew just as well. Instead, she could be on her way to a place that wasn't exploding unless she made it that way.
Then there was this mess. It wasn't exactly a world-ending thing, but neither was the deal with the Phoenix. Or that stupid boxing thing. Or any of it! Playing hero was difficult.
"I dunno about you guys, but whatever the rest of you want I'm good with. I don't give a flip either way", she stated with a carefree shrug.

"I'd rather just keep my distance from any of this," stated Geoff, having listened to the others' opinions in the few moments after the thug's limited English. However, a labored sigh escaped him only a second later, his body seeming to deflate a bit as he considered something.
"But this Norden Circle business... I dunno. These guys seem pretty convinced it actually can do something. Might just be myths spinnin' around in their heads, though."

Cue Corin. More accurately, cue Corin poking Ember and Geoff, in turn, in the gut with the butt end (thankfully, as opposed to the pointy one) of his spear.
"It is indeed our business, and it is not a myth, you doubting rapscallion! Tch!"
Oh boy. Here we go.
"It is an artifact of great power! Mysterious and great power! Admittedly I do not exactly know what it does but that is thoroughly not the point," and he cleared his throat conspicuously. "A national treasure! An artifact of legend and historical value! It is what brings me here on this very day! Only a hero of my caliber, my prestige, could the good people of Cape Norden trust with such a mission! It is my duty-- nay, my privilege, to retrieve it!"
Momentary pause.
"Surely none of you upstanding citizens could allow such villainy to go unchecked?"

In lieu of crickets, the clackety-clack of the train's wheels against the track had to suffice for a few seconds.
Casey stared down at the aardwolf, then glanced around uncomfortably He scratched his gut a couple times.
"... So,..."
His mouth hung open. He was trying to go somewhere with this, but apparently proved too disoriented.
"Iiii'm too hungry to deal with this right now," he finally decided aloud.
***
Sometime later, with Latika's help, Casey had busted out a portable stove and was cooking up a stew right there in the baggage car. It was starting to actually smell kind of nice inside, and with all the doors and windows closed up (and some of the larger bulletholes covered in a makeshift fashion), it wasn't too cold, either.
Their talk had been a meandering one. The boar did his best to wrap his head around the writhing, serpentine sequence of narrative events that had been unfolded.
"So... you guys say you were marooned here in a crash landing from space yesterday. And you say," cue a glance to Corin, "that this train was carryin' some stolen Cape Norden treasure with 'mysterious powers' and you were sent to recover it. And you say," cue a glance to one of the reluctant resistance fighters whom he had coaxed back into the conversation (at a distance), "your people stole it to help with the fight against Eggman... who you say," cue another look back to Geoff and friends, "is no longer in power anyway because'a somethin' you guys were up to yesterday — in space — while yooou say," cue a look to one of Li Fang's men, tied upside-down to the side of a crate, "a bunch'a... crap nobody friggin' understands. But you say," and now a look back to the resistance guy again, "that he works for an organized crime boss named Li Fang. And all'a you guys," he shifted focus back to the original party at large, "are just tryin' to get back home, and you—"
He looked at the gigantic purple cat.
"Who the heck are you again?"

Little, round yellow eyes stared at Casey, completely blank and devoid of emotion. Were he not who he was, it might have been cryptic, even.
Smile.
"I'm Big!"
He seemed quite satisfied with himself.
Sir Corin was completely oblivious to the fact that nobody gave one single iota of difference to his passionate and heart-felt mission. In fact, he was re-telling it to a distraught Mako, who was pointedly not listening.
"Uhhh," the shark said, thinking over the entire list of he-said-you-saids that Casey had foisted upon them, complete with pointing at the air as though to physically organize his thoughts. "Sounds..." Right? Accurate? Absolutely insane? "... like the plot for a bad movie."

Ace, conscious at last, sat with an uncomfortable looking blanket of sorts wrapped unstingingly around himself. It was wool, and it was itchy, and he really had no idea where it came from in the first place. But after being electrocuted, exploded, impaled, and nearly frost-bitten, it was hard to say he didn't deserve some semblance of man-made comfort (which is to say, not po cha). He started to speak, but he still found himself affected by the cold enough that he had to fight off the sniffles and a gunky throat.
"Y'know-- eghh," (there it was,) "'f my girl were here, she'd say... 'Aaww we're all written better'n that.' But when ya, mash it all t'gether lighe thad..."
Sniff.
"Eeehhit does sound pretty stupid."
