It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

There was, indeed, no boom yet.

In fact, as the seconds dragged on longer and longer, and the train kept rolling down the tracks, swaying and bumping, there was no sound of a deafening fiery explosion, no noise of metal being ripped asunder and tearing through the rest of the cars, no screeching of wheels being knocked off the tracks, nothing. Not even a meager firecracker.

Not only was there no boom yet, it seemed like there was no boom at all. Just the sounds of the train still clacking down the rails, despite being shot full of holes in certain areas. It was just...quiet.

Mako would have been complaining about being hefted into the air by the large cat, and carried after their comrades, but really, what was there to say? Oh no, I just can't wait to be blown up, let me down you purple monstrosity?

Not likely. The shark kept his mouth steadfastedly shut as
Big, having been roused to wakefulness, heaved both him and Sir Corin after their compatriots, dropping the shark and the aardwolf down alongside Casey once they reached the boar's compartment.

A momentary pause.

"No boom?"

Huffing and puffing and completely unaware that he was sitting on a face-down Mako, Sir Corin was less than amused.
"Dastardly tricks! Fiends and villains! What debauchery is all this nonsense?"

Latika sat up slowly, casting curiously appraising glances about the cabin with her head at a head. One would never know she was seconds out of a life-threatening situation. Of course, she probably didn't, either.

"This room much better than cargo area," she observed mildly, as she climbed slowly but gracefully from her box, patting the dust from her trousers, and gently closing the lid behind her.

She meandered to the window seat, and sat gingerly upon the bench there, as though expecting to be scolded for it rather imminently, and folded her hands complacently in her lap.

"Much kinder light for reading in this room," added the loris, gazing longingly and implicitly back at the trunk of books.

Okay, so, that was an awkward moment.

— Not because of the lack of explosions, but because Big the Cat had tried to fit himself in a compartment car on a train, and inside a compartment, too. Once everything came to natural equilibrium, though, and everyone got comfortable, it mostly likely ended up with the purple cat just... occupying the doorway, and several squished-out feet in every direction beyond, with the outer wall of the train bulging.

The lack of explosions was awkward, too, though, make no mistake. Casey, after sitting silently for long enough, finally commented.

"... I don't think anything's gonna blow up," he declared in scholarly, concise observation of the facts.

He looked sheepish a moment.

"Maybe we oughta... now... at this time, that is, maybe,... go try to find out what's goin' on. I think."

He cleared his throat.

Big was, indeed, kind of... ... squashed. ... As in, "passing by him would be a feat in improbability".
At least his bulk sort of molded to the car around him, and most of his bulk was in the corridor and not the compartment proper.

"Huh."

Pause.

"Feels funny."

"does anyone even remember why this guy is with us"

"I mean who even is he"

Geoff couldn't really properly reply to Mako's near-silent observations, the hedgehog finding himself to busy being trapped inside the cubicle by the cat in question. With the numerous amount of people (not to mention the trunk) all fitted inside there, it was feeling quite cramped. Having already dropped Ace, with at least some decency, onto one of the seats, he opted to just stand there before attempting trying to make himself comfortable. Chances were they'd be on the move again shortly.

"I bet that guy thinks he's so slick," he muttered, the sudden lack of kabooms draining the hedgehog after his previous urgency. "But screw it. I'm not goin' to go lookin' for him. Rather just figure out what the hell was in that crate they took..."

The hedgehog didn't seem to realize that the others would have no idea what the crate in question was.

A couple minutes later (however long it took them to extricate themselves from the Big-created enclosure they were trapped inside of, and catch up on details from Geoff), a few members of the party were cautiously moving their way back through the train, past leery passengers, and through the bullet-riddled baggage car, back to where all the action had happened in the freight car.

Casey was the first to climb up on the roof and drop in through the open hatch, landing heavily with a grunt and clunk on the hard floor. The side door was still open, and frigid air curled and whipped around the interior. The interior was a mess. Wary, the hog scanned around, gunarm at the ready, looking for signs of life or hostility.

He soon found a survivor, but not a hostile one. The super-colorful bird fellow was digging through a broken crate, setting aside debris, when they entered, and he turned and quickly put his hands in the air.

"Don't shoot, don't shoot," he blurted in a tense, but tired-sounding plea. He spoke clear English and wasn't trying to jump them; this was a start.

With a lot more noise than was generally required of someone her weight, Latika thumped down immediately after Casey, although with none of his wary caution or subtlety. She turned her own direction as soon as she hit the floor, and moved along the cargo in search of... well, she wasn't particularly sure what, but she looked, nonetheless. It was probably, then, a good thing that the assertive boar had found the bird before the porter did.

She turned at the sound of his haggard pleas, and pressed nearer.

"You one of the suspicious men," she hedged, her brows furrowing. "What you attack train for?"

"I was one of the ones defending, not attacking," replied the bird. "Those men stole from us."

True enough, he was not clad as the troops were, so he wasn't in their lot — not that anyone would know where he or any of his longcoat-wearing cohorts had come from in the first place, though, unless they had been paying special attention back at the train station.

Hoping at least there wasn't a gun around for miles, save Casey's of course, Ember trotted along with them. There was no telling what the fuss had been about and she was overly curious.

And yet, the trail had lead to a bird.

Peering from the behind the mass known as Casey, she ventured out a question.

"Anyway we can know what was stolen?"

"Yes! Speak up, sirrah!" Sir Corin piped in after Ember, all but forcing his way, both physically and metaphorically, into the conversation. "What seems to be absconded with?"

To make a point, he flourished his polearm. But really, was there anything he didn't do that much for?

"What's it matter, anyway?" the guy groused tiredly, giving Corin's spear a dirty (but unaffected) look. "What are all you people even doing here, anyway?" With distaste, he added, "Don't tell me you're just... nosy passengers."

"More like stowaways caught in the crossfire," stated Geoff gruffly as he stepped forward. It was up to question whether he was totally thrilled to have already returned to the train car that had been the magnet for all the trouble, but the cross look he gave the bird was starting to show his impatience. If there was one person there this guy might recognize, it was the hedgehog.

"I nearly got cut in half by a freakin' helicopter, so I'd like to know just what was in here and why I should have bothered risking my neck for it."

The pheasant lulled his head. He looked (perhaps understandably) sullen about the whole thing.

"Maybe you shouldn't have," he replied indifferently. After a deep breath and sigh, though, he spat it out. "It was the Norden Circle — supposed to be some old... something that'd help us stop Eggman. Li Fang's taken it, though, so even if it does work, it definitely won't be helping anybody."

"Well, surprise surprise, Eggman's out of the picture now," replied the hedgehog, his tone dismissing the bird's discouraged attitude. "Don't be gettin' too worked up about it. You'd have nothin' to use that ancient Chun-nan... circle thing on anyway."

Only a second later, Geoff's adamant expression broke a little, a bit of concern leaking out in the form of a slightly furrowed brow.

"...what's this Li Fang guy intending to do with it, though?"
