It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

OOC: Collab between yours truly and the boss-man. Feel free to play your own characters here, as well!

It was like flying in a big soup can.

The shuttle was spacious but uncomfortable. Its floors and walls were cold, dull, grey metal, barren and plain, save for the sections near the side hatches that were caution-striped yellow and black. The beams of the vessel's frame ran up the sides and across the ceiling like some sort of mechanized ribcage. And windows? None of those. The vessel didn't even have seats, much less any other creature comfort, as it was intended only to transport robots and prisoners. You see, Eggman never needed more than one seat on any given ship: his.

The lack of any view to the outside world made it difficult to tell where they were and where they were going. There had been some rumbling, shaking, ominous noises, and discomforting G-forces a while back, presumably from atmospheric reentry, but that was long past. Now there was only the steady whoosh of wind across the airframe. Were the ship more comfortable, it could have easily lulled a passenger to sleep.

Ace, of course, sat nearest to the closest thing the ship had to a corner by the back. Eerily motionless was his stint there, almost blending into the dismal scenery like a porcelain doll in the attic. Every few minutes or so, his head would tilt in some other direction to signal that he was still breathing in that black and urban camo attire he swiped, but beyond that, he didn't have a word to say Until of course...

...

... Was the wind getting louder?

*BZANNK BZANNK BZANNK BZANNK*

"...Whaaat the hell...?"

A piercing alarm went through the cabin. The looser components of the vehicle began to rattle as vibrations coursed through the ship.

"Warning — engine ignition failure — warning — engine ignition failure ..."

The more astute of the passengers would have realized that this was a bad thing. Why? The aircraft they boarded barely had wings to speak of. It was a VTOL aircraft, and primarily relied upon its engines for lift. Their vehicle was suddenly the aeronautical equivalent of a brick with a paper airplane strapped to it.

"Ooh, ssshhit!" he spat. The alleycat stood himself up, suddenly having trouble keeping his own feet on the ground, much less staying in place. With his free hand crawling along the wall, he carried himself with a hurried pace through the cargo hold and up closer to the front with red lights flashing mere feet above his head. A great sinking feeling overcame his chest, almost like he was suddenly...

...in a free fall.

That wasn't good.

The roaring got louder. The ship's computer kept declaring what was wrong as if they were supposed to do something about it — never mind that they didn't even have access to the cockpit, if there even was one on the automated ship.

"... warning — engine ignition failure — warning — engine ignition f— engines online."

Just like that, there was a sudden bucking motion as the engines raged to life, the ship's plummet suddenly slowed, then

*THOOM.*

— they crashed anyway.

The shuttle absolutely smashed into the ground, its frame and fuselage deforming all around them. Sparks spewed from every newly formed orifice, flashing and strobing along with the failing internal lighting while steel screamed against stone, as if the whole ship had been dropped on a giant grindstone. Their environment seemed to tumble and roll around them, casting the loose payload of passengers all over the hard, steely interior of the ship. It was a terrifying, seemingly neverending instant of careening motion, ramming into hard things, and being assailed by an indescribable wall of sound.

Just as soon as it began, though, it stopped. The ship was very nearly torn in half; where there was once a rectangular door, there was now a split, bent opening through which shone harsh daylight, tinted gloomy grey-blue. A piercing cold unlike that any of the passengers had likely ever known howled in, pelting them with snow. In contrast, a fire flickered and burned somewhere toward the front of the ship, ever growing.

The only sound was the whistling wind. It was quiet. But then, people; yelling, snow-crunching footsteps, and heavy breaths heralded the arrival of an unknown group. One man poked his head in through the torn door and glanced around; his identity (and even species) was impossible to divine because of his thick, furred hood and scarf-wrapped nose and mouth. His clothing was a pellmell arrangement of mismatched leather, cloth, fur, and synthetic materials, including a thick, bright-orange nylon-shelled jacket.

"नमस्ते"

As the fire crept closer inside, he reached to pull whoever was nearest free, and into the piercing chill of the outdoors.

The first thing that unfortunate individual would see, aside from blinding snow, was... nothing but endless mountain range, and the lights of a remote, ancient-looking village just ahead.

"why why why why why why why why why oh god I am going to die," Mako groaned as he was the one wrested out (of course-- it was an unfortunate soul, and what soul was more unfortunate than he?) into the blinding snow and core-chilling temperatures, no longer protected even marginally from it by their mangled craft.

This made two times that he had a crash-landing in a barren middle of nowhere, he realized as he looked around. He visibly drooped, as though the weight of this situation had taken up residence on his shoulders. At least there was no guy with a spear here. ... ... ... okay, yeah, no guy with a spear.
As he slowly realized he was not about to be imminently destroyed, he blinked a few times and squinted at the individual who had pulled him out. Had he said something?

"Uh. Mako ... no... understando."

He cast a look back inside quickly.

"Uhh, what happened?" said Big's low voice from further back in their once-vehicle, big ears drooped and brow furrowed as though deep in thought.

A messy figure of quills uncurled himself from one of the walls of the wrecked ship like a rag doll having just been promptly tossed, the position he'd gained cramped and uncomfortable. An aching groan resonated from the green hedgehog as he regained his bearings, crawling forward almost pathetically for a few feet before boosting back to his feet, dazed for a moment. It finally took the unexpected, blasting cold to snap him back to attention, shivering out of habit to the biting new temperature.

"Figures he'd give us a piece of $%@& ride..." he mumbled as he strode forward to the gaping opening now available.

Emerging from the wreck, he found a good layer of ankle-deep snow awaiting him, much to his displeasure. Squinted eyes peered through gusting wind as he found only towering peaks greeting him. Lonesome and desolate... two words Geoff would have preferred not to pop into his mind for the scene, but were fitting nonetheless.

It was only then did he finally notice the newcomer before him, the one concealed under the layers of clothing. The hedgehog frowned, not all too familiar with the person's style of attire, his mind already starting to draw close to a conclusion that would more than likely become obvious in the next few moments.

"Where... uh... where are we?" he asked, sounding like he was prepared for the worst as the snow swirled around him.

Meanwhile, another quilled figure began to exit the ill fated ship.

Shadow, barely shaken, it seemed, had one foot propped out of the makeshift doorway, a hand braced on the side of the opening as he stared out into the cold landscape. The always present frown permeated on his lips as he examined the surrounding peaks, challenging their presence with his stare alone.

Despite his obvious displeasure, the hedgehog moved onward, approaching the stranger as well.

The poor guy, aware as he may have been of their collective situation, barely had the time to issue a warning to his crewmates before...

"...EVERYBODY BRACE YOUR--" SLAM.

He was tossed, and tumbled, and rolled around like a ragdoll in a drying machine. After what felt like forever on an abridged roller coaster ride without any rails, Ace found himself awkwardly sprawled out on his backside against the 'wall' (which was more than likely the ceiling) with a tremendous, stinging pain in his side. He was dizzy after all the spinning, blinking rapidly and breathing heavily in an attempt to catch his bearings. When he decided he'd had enough of that, Ace placed his hands on the wall behind him and pushed up...

"...!!!"

...only to find out exactly why his side was so badly hurting. There was a warped spike of the ship's own interior walls stabbing him through his side, just a bit above his hip, and it felt like his nerves had been set on fire. He almost passed out right then and there.

As Ace's heartbeat suddenly pitched a fit, his entire body shook with cold as he stared incredulously at the little tip of metal poking up from under his hoodie, and realized that the back of it felt unsettlingly wet. He found himself with his head, not so much shaking as it was gently swerving back and forth, eyes wide and mouth hung open in disbelief, hands actively shaking. He felt the compulsion to cough, and did. A small spit of blood. Of course. "Oh sh!t," he could barely be heard whispering. "Oh sh-sh!t."

To his left, he saw the others leaving, and would've almost felt justified hating them for leaving him like this if he hadn't only just learned about this himself. Shouting out wasn't an option-- whispering wouldn't get him heard. So he did what he could-- lift his arm as carefully as he could, and bang his knuckles against the wall.

The warmly-dressed rescuer removed his outer coat and tossed it around Mako almost immediately. Urgently, he pointed toward the village and started pulling at the shark's arm, speaking words the boy had no chance of understanding. Geoff could expect similar ushering from another of the rescuers.

It seemed like the people who had found them were definitely there to help. One stood out, however: among the group of strangers was a man who looked insufficiently dressed for the cold. A huge fellow (a yak, one might presume) clad simply in a broad-brimmed hat and well-worn militaristic garb, he didn't so much as shiver or even blink as he strode past Shadow to duck inside the burning ship.

The yak took one scan around the chamber then set forward, straight toward Ace.

He produced a tremendous, angled knife. In the hands of any other, it would have been called a sword; for him, it was still a knife. He grasped at the back of the debris upon which Ace was stuck and said something unintelligible to the cat. Then, with one huge, terrifying, air-rending swing, he cleaved the warped and fragmented steel straight off the wall with his blade. In this way, he was able to pick Ace up right along with the thing that was skewering him, as removing it at that point could have been dangerous to his health.

This one, huge man put Ace over his shoulder as if carrying a toddler, then traversed the rest of the ship quickly to collect any others who hadn't picked themselves up. Then, just as speedily as he had entered, he exited back to the frigid outdoors, and trundled off up the hill toward the village like a freight train with his payload of patients.

***

The hours passed in a haze. Few people could say they had been through quite so much as many of the members of this particular group had over the past week alone. There had been little time for rest, and virtually no time to just recover. However, finally, the concussed and frozen passengers of the wrecked shuttle found themselves warming and recuperating, even if it was in a completely foreign environment.

The room was rustic and almost hostel-like, elongated with a single row of numerous beds, their headboards placed against the wall. Firelight from a nearby fireplace colored the stony, white, ornately-painted walls with a warm glow. There was an appearance of dustiness to all the furniture and fixtures, such as the old shelves of pots and figurines, and the closed shutters that rattled against the outside wind, but it was merely the textured deterioration of age; the place was perfectly clean. The old wooden floor looked well-varnished, as did the very simple, low-set beds that the party's members would find themselves on. A cursory glance around would reveal that there was a door at each end of the long room, standing open; one to another similar room, the other to a corridor of some sort.

How long had they been there? Where were they? It would be a wonder if any of them had managed not to conk out as soon as they were given some rest. It was at least clear they had been there quite a few hours, because everyone who was injured had been treated and bandaged, and even Ace's fantastic new body piercing had been carefully removed. It must have been around dinner time, too, judging by the aroma of spicy food wafting in and the lack of light coming through the shutters.

It was all quite peaceful. Well, except for the fact there was a guy just sitting there staring at them.

One of their rescuers, a rather plain-looking primate fellow of some kind, wearing baggy, light-colored trousers, and pleasant-looking red shirt that looked like it actually could have been made of some nice curtains rather than conventional western clothing materials, sat cross-legged on the floor, watching them all in unnerving silence.

The warmth of the room slowly coaxed Ember from the more-than-blissful sleep. Cracking open one eye, she rolled over onto her back. Loathe to leave the warm nest she was buried in, she stared mindlessly up at the ceiling above. Thoughts collected and memories of the crash, it was kinda awesome just not for her, flooded back. An itch wormed its way onto her stomach and she scratched at it and felt bandages wrapped snugly around her wound.

That was enough to make her sit up. Flipping aside the covers, the bird sat up woozily and took note of the rest of her. Another bandage was wrapped around the cracked beak and she could taste the rough bandage. That was going to be an annoyance. Checking her wrist, she was glad to see the bracelet still intact. Finding everything to be as good as it could be, she turned her attention to the surrounding area.

Mostly to the primate.

"Take a picture, it'll last longer", she quipped. The words were slightly misspoke from the bandage and Ember scowled. At least her beak would be back to its shining glory soon.

Ace on the other hand, between his wound, the bone-chilling cold, and general fatigue, had lost consciousness about half-way from their crash landing to... wherever he was now. As of that moment was still utterly asleep, although hardly with a toddler's slumber; his breaths were heavy without simply snoring, and every now and then it almost seemed like his teeth were chattering among his dreamy mumbling. Still, it was sleep enough for someone in his predicament, and if he were awake enough to appreciate it, he would have.

"...niy, prommmhms..."

"... ... ssrnnxxx..."

Just five more minutes.

Geoff, meanwhile, was awake, albeit barely, and had refused to move in the few minutes his eyes were actually open. Days of activity had rushed up to him upon their arrival and the hedgehog seemed to be perfectly comfortable with just resting for awhile longer. Flat on his back, he could already feel the call of sleep again as his eyelids began to droop.

He would have gladly allowed it if it weren't for Ember's sudden comment.

With a tired groan, he opened his eyes and sat up some, not even given the chance to glance at the red bird when his attention became fixated on the primate just... sitting there. The stranger had been so unearthly quiet, Geoff hadn't managed to notice his presence when he initially awoke.

The hedgehog gave a long, tired blink as he looked at the monkey now, sour memories of a certain duo popping into his head upon the sight of species, but he remained quiet. Compared to what he'd already encountered earlier, he already held doubts whether this person would even speak his language.

The primate blinked and looked more attentive to Ember for a moment, mouth hanging open as if he was about to respond. A sort of faint "ah" sound escaped, then he just nodded and smiled politely.

He really had no idea what she was saying.

Groggily awakening to the sound of Ember's comment, the ferret arose in a calm manner. Examining the new room he laid in the scenery made him sigh bitterly as he seemed to recognize the place. "Chu-nan" he mumbled, recalling the structure of the room as well as he could remember. Noticing the monkey, he gave him a sudden hard glare, quickly reexamining the primate when he spotted the differences. "Sorry" he murmured, unsure if he could understand him in the first place.

Getting up out of his resting place, he almost fell over as his leg did something unusual since the last few hours he was conscious. Actually feeling the ground with both legs, he turned his head around and flexed his leg out behind him as he stared in astonishment. Taking his attention off of his recovered leg, Desmond flexed his previously injured arm, finding it fixed as well.

Attempting to thank them, he bowed and showed his appreciation by saying thank you in Chunese, possibly the only word he remembered. He hoped in all honesty that he wasn't making making a fool of himself.

The fellow sitting on the floor looked at Desmond strangely, then reacted in about the exact same way that he had previously to Ember: he completely didn't understand, and just smiled and nodded again.

Chun-nan was a big place. Not even Chunese was spoken throughout it. Little did Desmond realize just how utterly remote a mountain village they were stranded in.

Strangely enough, it was Desmond's faux-foreign that ended up stirring Ace from his slumber. It was odd, though, seeing his eyes flutter to consciousness, only to almost deliberately slide shut again, as if whatever dream he was preferable to the real world. Although to his credit, there were probably weren't many dreams where he'd be worse off than in reality.

Or so he thought.

Ace's eyes snapped open when he realized that he actually was waking up, and spared a bewildered looking glance at the primate to his side.

They went through another spot of shock when he suddenly placed an alarm-struck hand to the wound at his side, only to find... it wasn't there. Another look down his hoodie revealed that whoever had tended to him saw fit to even re-dress him after bandaging the injury. He groped his surroundings with confused eyes, but was conscious enough to put two and two together, and realize that he wasn't in Kansas anymore. Thus begged the question:

"...Where the Hell am I...?"

He stole a look to the company surrounding him to find them in a similar predicament, and then back to their host. He started to examine him personally, taking note of how he somehow looked... different than the other primates he'd known, but was overcome with the need to cough before he got very far. Abruptly did the alleycat realize that coughing in the guy's face was probably ruse since he might have been the one who just saved the very last of his nine lives.

"Uuh... thank you," he said almost cautiously, but with a strong nod of the head, as if unsure if this stranger was the right person to thank.

Big was sitting off to the side, sitting quite comfortably on the floor (having decided he probably would have broken any bed he sat on). His blubber had yet again managed to protect him from harm and cold. His allies might be forgiven if they came to the conclusion that he was, in fact, not so much a living thing as a giant purple force of nature.
This wasn't true, but the point remained.

"I don't think they understand a word any of us are saying," Mako provided to all of the above from where he sat, almost buried in anything he could wrap around himself for warmth. Thus, he was little more than a sharky head protruding from a mess of the dressings of the bed he had chosen. His menagerie of minor flesh wounds had been tended to, and he was counting himself relatively lucky.

... You know. As far as 'lucky' went when you were stranded with a bunch of people, most of whom you barely know, in the middle of nowhere.

Gingerly stepping out of the bed, she gave a shaky smile to the primate only to wince when the bandages shifted. Her body still felt like lead but that was nothing to how her face felt. The bandage also meant not talking much if at all. This was going to be a very long recovery. It wasn't as if what she said would be understandable anyways.

At least scars were cool. A few more and she could contend with the best.

"At least we're alive. Some more than others," there was a glance at Desmond, "Can't be too bad being stuck here."
