It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

"Eef hwe meet any locals, we should awsk for dirlections," Tank interjected, already taking the next steps into consideration. "Perlhaps they could darlect to a ho-tel of sorlts, hwere we may rlest our hayds." Likewise, he marched alongside his companions, leaving sizable footprints in the snow beneath him with every step. If he wanted, he could probably get to town faster simply sliding along his shell, maybe giving somebody else a ride on top (probably Mako as retribution for his rough landing), but that would just be showing off, and he'd end up leaving the others behind in the snow.

"I hhchope they speak Ingles," he added with a cold-induced sniff.

Mako was opening his mouth. He looked very much like he was about to say something.

But he didn't get the chance.

"Halt, vagrants!"

Whatever Mako was going to say was replaced, immediately, with a flat, "what."

Seemingly out of nowhere (it was simply that the snow had muffled his approach), like a bolt from the sky, a dark shape suddenly flew over the heads of the group and landed mere feet in front of the ragtag little marching party. With a dramatic flourish of his cape and a twirl of his spear, the mysterious man turned around.

He looked to be a man of middle age, with a bit of goatee-like white fluff on his chin and a wild gleam in his eyes. A hat sat atop his head (at a rakish angle, of course), and his cape fluttered in the wind and snow. Oh, yes, and the aforementioned spear, which was quite a bit longer than he was tall. (It appeared that he had up and pole vaulted into their path.)
He brandished said spear, pointing its ornate head at nearest person-- this being a phrase here meaning Sheriff Jack.

He wasted no time-- as soon as he had turned around, giving the gathered no time at all to let this soak in, he took a half-step closer. Speaking in a loud and very well-articulated voice, he addressed the tortoise: "What business have you out here?" He didn't wait another second before he continued: "Answer! I am Sir Corin Reginald Sidney Theophilus Dupont Quincy, of Cape Norden! I'll accept no tied tongues!"

Well... they'd found a local.

Or maybe they were all dying from the cold, and this was a hallucination, because there didn't seem to be a thing about him that was a sequitur of any sort.

"... what?"

Jack moved on instinct, he rushed at them and she immediately drew her gun. With his spear pointed at her Jack had her six-shooter leveled at him. Jack held firm as she listened to and responded to the 'local.'

Of course she wasn't going to fire, but she certainly didn't like the spear pointed in her face.

"Sir...Quincy." She assessed from the mess of names he presented, a ridiculous amount really, who has that many names? "I'm Sheriff Jack, the big guy is Power Mask, lil guy's Mako, red'un's Ember and the last'un is Key. We ain't lookin' for any trouble, we're here ta help. So how 'bout we put the weapons 'way fer now?"

she offered slowly taking a hand away from her gun and starting to lower it to see if he would likewise stand down.

"What... the hell."

Key was afraid to turn around. She had been preparing to say something to Tank, or someone. The new arrival had made her completely forget what she was about to say, however, in light of his voice alone. She was more than slightly concerned about what she would see to go with that voice.

Glancing over her shoulder (it was as close to turning around as she dared), Key's hands fell out of her sleeves in sheer surprise. Did they somehow warp into a video game? Did real people wear that? Or, echoing Mako's thoughts*, was she merely freezing to death and this was her subconscious giving her a show before she went.

"Uh." Grateful that Jack had stepped up as spokesperson, she turned around properly and shrugged off her confusion. Under her breath she added, mainly for herself, "An' our business right now is freezing."

*If those weren't Mako's thoughts, Key temporarily has the power to agree with narration. Hush. This is clearly not a normal experience she's having.

The (unbelievably strange) stranger gave the sheriff a suspicious look, one eyebrow cocked; however, as she lowered her gun, he held his spear straight up again, standing straight up again. He looked between each member of the group, and stroked his little beard. After a moment of contemplation, he whipped his hat off of his head and bowed, with a flourish of his spear.

"Sir Corin will do, my dear lady! I'm afraid you'll not find much to help with out in the middle of--" he seemed prepared to continue with his speech, before he caught wind of Key's low-key remark.

"Hark! A maiden in distress!" Thoroughly distracted, he immediately darted to the koala, whipping his cape off in the process. He held the article of his clothing out, offering it to her. He bowed again, once more gesturing with his spear in a way that came dangerously close to smacking anyone who stood too close in the face.

Mako ducked.

Once he stood up straight again, he gave the newcomer the most bewildered look, and looked at Tank almost quizzically. "... okay, you're seeing this too, right?" he said slowly, rubbing his head as though he may have received a concussion of some sort when in the runaway pod. He seemed unable to process that the stranger, speaking in a larger than life voice and like a character from a bad fantasy novel, darting around like a hyperactive pinball, could possibly be real. He desperately, desperately hoped that this was not a sign of things to come regarding the rest of the population.

This was not a good day for the shark.

Jack watched the strange fellow prance around swinging his pike-spear-thing around like it wasn't some sharp weapon.

"Right, Sir Corin..." Jack mummbled as he nearly hit Mako. With a shake of her head she approched him making sure to steer clear of his weapon. "Thank you, But could you lead us to some place, Oh I 'unno, Warm? Maybe a hotel'er somethin?"

Or a giant bonfire. Or anything place that isn't freezing horrible cold.", Ember spoke, adding onto Jack's request.

She was more than a little worried that this new stranger wasn't exactly all there. Maybe he was the town loony sent out here to scare away newcomers. If that was the case he was doing a pretty good job. He should be awarded a medal.

"So would that be doable Mr. Pointy Stick?"

Already the flighty bird had forgotten the name spoken moments earlier.

Or just wasn't paying attention.

So, he did speak English. He spoke a lot of it.

In the midst of all this, Power Mask instinctively took one step closer to the shark-lad, and once more when the most foreign of foreigners made his move (so to speak) to... deliver Key his cape. What was initially an inquisitive stare furrowed a little lower as a "Hmh" escaped his mouth. He could have given her a cape, if he had one. They were just so impractical, that was all. (Not to mention, they clashed with his shell.)

"Aye... beleeff so," he whispered through one side of his beak. "Aye em shure not evrlyone een town behaves as soch."

"A maiden?" Key stammered, taken aback as the very strange stranger approached her. "I am not any kind of a maiden!"

She wasn't sure what he was going to do, exactly, but she definitely didn't expect him to offer her a cape. On the one hand, it looked warm, and she loathed the cold. On the other hand... a complete stranger brandishing a spear was offering her a cape. She didn't know anyone even still wore capes.

"Oh... what the hell... thanks." She mumbled, accepting the cape and draping it around herself. The immediate warmth it produced was worth the embarrassment and confusion, she decided, as she regarded Corin once again. Glancing at the others with a look that read, 'This is the weirdest situation I have ever found myself in, but at least I think the crazy man is harmless', she echoed their thoughts. "But, yeah. Shelter?"

Sir Corin, his mission complete, turned back to regard the Sheriff (and Ember, but he seemed to be answering mostly to Jack). He stroked the little beard-like tuft on his chin, and looked thoughtful. After a moment, he spoke once moer.
"Why, I believe I could. It'd be, in fact, quite ridiculous of me to do otherwise-- I very well can't leave people who claim to be here on a noble mission out to freeze. ONWARD!"

And with that, pointing the way with his spear, the stranger out and took off in the direction that the group had been going before he had... interrupted.

Mako looked around at Tank, Jack, Ember, and the now cape-clad Key.
"I-- I'm sorry, did I miss something when I was in the capsule?" he asked, a just-plain-lost expression on his fishy features. With a deep sigh, however, he followed after the man and towards the small town, albeit at a much less brisk pace than Sir Corin was leading with.

A few hills, snowbanks, and a frozen stream later, and the group arrived at the edge of the village. Plowed land near farmhouses laid buried under a relatively thin blanket of snow, while the one paved road leading into the center of the village remained fairly unobstructed. As they drew nearer to the actual center of town, pavement gave way to a patchwork of brick roads, weaving between neat rows of shops and homes. The buildings were varied in height, anywhere from one to four or so stories, but mostly skinny and steep-roofed.

It was kind of how one would imagine such a place, really. The smell of fireplaces and baking bread, warm lights in the windows, ice-crusted store signage swinging in the breeze... "Quaint" was a word that would be getting a lot of use, really. The only break in the peace came from a noisy pub and inn on the corner of the block. It seemed... oddly crowded in there, to be located in such a small town. But, even that little blot of obnoxiousness had certain charm to it, with a raunchy barroom piano banging out some irreverent old tune under the sound of clinking plates and glasses, and chattering people.

Locations of interest in the immediate area (besides the hotel) seemed mostly closed. It was getting a little late in the day, probably nearing sunset, but... talk about retiring early. Small town and all. The little castle up on the ridge had its gate standing open, at least, but that was still a decent walk away, and uphill through the snow, too. Still, it was an option for exploration.

And the group would be eye-shot of the local saloon in perhaps the least opportune moment.

"I thought I told you to stay out!"

The voice boomed right before a one-eyed rabbit was tossed staggering out onto the street corner. He did a little spin and almost fell on his face. Somehow, he had enough of his hand-eye coordination to catch himself. An open bottle of rum in one hand, he tilted his head back and started to down whatever was left in it.

Unlucky for them however, he spotted them. He stopped threw the bottle off to the side where it shattered on the sidewalk.

He staggered toward them and stopped in front of Sir Corin, who no doubt lead the charge. He started to point, and open his mouth as if to say something to him.

Then he stopped, looking past him. His little band of outsiders starting to render more clearly now.

"Hey," he started to say, "You guys ain't from around here, are you?"

He patted Corin on the shoulder as he brushed past.

"These lands be closed to outsiders..." He said before glancing back at Corin, "How the hell did you get outsiders in here, Lancelot?"

Sir Corin eyed the hare suspiciously (the rum was strong in this one), but he tipped his hat in greeting nonetheless. "It's a funny story," he began. He puffed out his chest before he motioned (with his spear, of course-- he was at least far away enough from those following him that it wasn't at risk to smack any of them this time) towards the direction he had come from. "I found them out there, while I was patrolling!"
He then paused, and said slowly: "Though come to think, I never did ask how they got here..."

He turned around to look at the group he had led into town, waiting for them to catch up fully.

"You have got to be kiddin' me." Jack muttered as the rabbit drew near. First a knight now a drunk one-eyed rabbit that looked suspiciously like a pirate.

"We where shot outta a cannon." Jack replied flatly as if she always traveled via cannon. She wondered at what point this sort of thing would be stop being surprising. "Now that we got that straight, can we get outta the cold now? I'd like ta know what that castle is and why no'un can leave 'er enter."

the griffin didn't see a problem questioning the colorful locals, Jack highly doubted that this pair had anything better to do then be some sort of help. All the while she was steeling herself against the next weirdo or crook to crawl out from under a the nearest rock is.

Ivan gave the griffin a blank stare for a good couple of seconds. But then broke the silence with some hearty laughter.

"Paahahahahaaa! Out of a cannon!" He reiterated with some level of disbelief, gesturing with an open palm in the air as he spoke, "Ain't that the way to travel these days. Hahah. You people must'a really wanted to get here."

He reached into his coat, and pulled out another bottle of rum. He bit the cork, his eyes clenching shut as he tore it out of the bottle's opening and then spit it off to the side. He didn't look like he was suffering at all from the cold weather. Maybe that big red coat was nice and warm... Or more likely, the booze was keeping him warm.

"That castle? That be Castle Fremont. Looks opened, so why not let ourselves in, eh? As fer the reason for the lockdown... I wager it might have'ta do with the fact that people, and some...museum pieces been goin' missin' lately."

"Bastards tried to lock me up fer it... The injustice. Gotta'nuff mouths to feed as it is."
