Sonic Spindash RP is closed.

Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.

It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

(Sorry, I accidentally responded to your thread with this - please delete that post.)

What is your character's name?
Teckno Logico

Species?
Porcupine; new world variant to be precise

Age?
18

What's your character's personality like? Write a paragraph or two of general info about your character.
Common sense is his name, chivalry his native tongue. However, that native tongue can very much obstruct the airway and form one nasty little problem, but enough with the metaphors.

Teck's personality can be compared to a BLT sandwich: your lettuce is a superficial air of sophistication that is comparatively fragile. The sizzling bacon is an equally sizzling temper that is shown in full colors with minimal effort (such as criticizing his beliefs - God help you). The tomato is a scrumptious and mouthwatering intellectual charm, and all this is sandwiched between two thick slices of common sense.

All in all, Teck is what can be considered the practical idealist. His level of common sense is so insanely integrated that it's at times measured as a fault. It's very unlikely he would actually think that some bad would come out of any situation that can't be completely made up for by the good if logic dictates that as the case. A heavy intellectual and very topical wit underlays this common sense as well, making most who congregate with him feel uncomfortable since they're always afraid he will correct them on even the most trivial of topics on which nobody gives a turkey.

Although optimistic, Teck's occasional dryness and dripping sarcasm usually give him off as a cynic when that is quite far from the truth. Despite that, his affable wit, poise, amusingly charismatic rhetoric and outrageous British accent and slang make him very fun to be with. Many would agree that nothing is more amusing than hearing Mr. Logico prattle on and on and on in the utmost animation about the subtleties of properly making a bed and sprinkling the anecdote with a barrage of, 'bloo'eys', 'e-gads!', 'gah'damns', and 'bugger alls.'

Around women, Teck's knighthood style chivalry and tendency to make even a crying baby laugh earns him quite a lot of attention with the ladies - not that he notices it, for he is also oblivious to outside emotions. In his eighteen years of life, Teck's interaction with women usually never passes the realm of computer advice, yet he wonders why they keep talking to him.

In the world of action, Teck's sobriety comes out full swing. When the going is tough, Teck gets going - and that's putting it lightly. He is very single-minded, he focuses unwaveringly on the task at hand, and when that particular task involves jeopardy or endangerment of others, Teck is usually the first to lay out the plan. In times of danger and stress, Teck also looks out for safety above all else - he is far more secure than reckless, and is always the first to point out a potential flaw, setback, or loose thread in even the most airtight plan. Yet in spite of that, he has always had a tendency to want to prove his worth in the line of heat. Ever since his youth, Teck has been exploited for his intellectual utilities when in actuality, he is quite capable of 'kicking arse', as he would put it. Alas, this is also a double-edged sword, since at times like these Teck's notorious temper comes out to play as well. Teck is very sensitive to criticism or rejection and his dry wit makes him awfully passive aggressive, albeit he can be quite open about his aggravations too. Very open. So open, in fact, that people have pissed themselves in response to his mudslinging and ranting.

In the end, though, his temper pales in comparison to his extreme excess of character. Teck is a guy everyone loves to love.

Does your character have any skills or special abilities, a gimmick, or anything that makes it stand out as an athlete or fighter? If so, talk a little about it here.
Teck is more of an intellectual utility character - able to sort out details and lay out plans. On the physical side, he is lacking although agile. Teck has a high running speed (175 miles an hour at sea level), high acceleration, and exceptionally strong leg muscles. His jumping power is similar in proportion to a jumping spider's and he can jump up to sixty feet straight up depending on his stamina. Couple these two attributes together and you have a powerful system for dynamic combat.

Teck also knows the spin attack and learned the on-ground spindash (he cannot perform it in the air) when he was just six - his amount of spines also make his own spin attack markedly lethal.

On the same token, Teck's quills are special since between the larger ones that shape his head, there are smaller unnoticeable quills that are anchored to his skin in highly pressurized follicle chambers. Filling these chambers is a lubricated fluid and the chambers are able to contract and relax in sync with any cranial muscular contraction. With enough pressure, these quills are released as projectiles - that's right, Teck is actually able to perform the age-old porcupine myth: he's able to shoot out his quills. They take around two weeks to regrow. He has a tendency to use it in conjunction with his spin attack, thus rendering the shower of quills omnipresent.

Teck's physical drawback is his stamina which is dependent heavily on the climate. Not entirely, but heavily. He was born in a tropical/temperate climate but his genetics are adaptive to cool temperatures. It's as though Teck's internal thermo-regulator is set back twenty or so degrees since he develops hypothermia twenty degrees or so LOWER than average, yet he also develops hyperthermia twenty degrees LOWER than average. All in all, Teck cannot tolerate heat very much. Teck has suffered near heat stroke over three times in his life, one of which was at 83 degree Central City heat (granted, he was wearing his jacket, but still - 83 degrees is not exactly hell). He cannot stand heat for long and develops symptoms of heat exhaustion within minutes. His range for comfort is between 50-75 degrees and he actually thrives in 20-40 degree weather! His stamina, needless to say, alters significantly depending on the climate. He knows his limits and will usually hold off any dynamic movement if the climate is unwelcoming for his natural inclination towards cold temperatures.

Does your character have any goals, or a purpose?
As previously mentioned, Teck always takes an opportunity to prove his worth, particularly in the physical department. He can win fights, but there's a lot of factors involved to decide which fights he is going to win. When he is confident in himself, he is known to get rather headstrong and reckless, defying his own precedent of security and safety.

Teck's occupation ties into another goal of his, and that is astronomy. Since childhood, Teck has had an avid interest in the cosmos and one day plans to go to space. He lives at North Island (the much less interesting and visited cousin of South Island) and his home sticks out like a sore thumb since it has a huge space observatory right outside. He is a worldwide acclaimed astronomer and is also a talented artist, for many of his depictions of the cosmos litter textbooks across educational institutions worldwide (along with every wall of his house!) and his research has been implemented in dozens of publications. He has not been subtle with his desire to visit the heavens either, and he also wishes to someday work directly with a space program instead of independently.

Does your character have an image? Post it here, if so. If not, please write a description of your character's appearance. Yes, I have a past, present, and future image to give a taste of this character's official evoution:

Present (the one I'll be using for this RP):

Will you be around to play your character regularly? (i.e. Keeping daily tabs on any threads you involve yourself in, and posting whenever it's your turn?)
I should be, yes. There might be a day or two where I won't be able to post but I am generally available most of the time.

And last but not least, what is your name? (For privacy purposes, you shouldn't post your last name! This forum isn't private!)
My name is Robert. Call me Rob.

I'll spare any suspense by saying right now: Accepted, go for it, etc., you've got wiki power, have fun. The reason I say that right up front is because I know that for a guy like you who's operated an RP before and knows the way characters submitted to RPs are probulated and scrutinized, it's probably a weird, uncomfortable experience to be the one on the submitting end. Well, maybe not for you, but I at least know it would be for me.

Anyway, there's really only one other thing I want to add, but it's mostly for the benefit of anybody else applying after you who ends up looking at this submission to see how things work:

For this RP group, the level of detail seen here isn't expected or required from anybody. This join-application thing can be a very short presentation of a character idea. The main thing I ultimately want to accomplish with all of the actual, finished character profiles on the wiki is ease of obtaining information—Very to-the-point info that will allow other players to get what they need to know about your character without having a lot of text to sift through. I'm one of those people who believes the best info is that which gives a good feel for the character, but leaves a lot unknown, so other players can have the fun of discovering it themselves in the RP. So, we won't expect anybody to ever make an exhaustively detailed and described character. If you want to do that, that's fine, but we may end up chopping your wiki profile into a couple sub-articles in order to maintain that sense of brevity in its main profile.

Anywho, now that I'm done with my "avoid scaring off intimidated following applicants" segment, here's the link your wiki profile page:

Teck the Porcupine

The wiki and forums have the same user database, so your login here works there too, and your account should have full editing privileges and all that good junk.

If you have any problems, hit me up. Have fun. We'll hopefully be starting this RP thang up sometime after my midterms are over with.

Thanks again for rating my profile on the Wiki and tell the other admins I said thanks. I've made the changes and I even toned down the "LIKE MEEE" in his personality description. Even I thought it was a little too much after reading it again.

S'cool! And thanks for being the first to submit, and break the ice here in the frigid, yet-to-be-populated wasteland of the submission forum.
