It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

What is your character's name? >Jack Hastings Junior. He would like it if you didn’t mix him up with his father and would like it even more if his surname just never came up in conversation. Ever.
Species? >Fisher
Age? >14
Give us a couple paragraphs of general info about your character. For example, what's the character's personality like? What kind of things does he or she do? Why does he or she do it? (Please don't give us your character's point-by-point life history, though.) >Jack is an individual who seems to have an uncanny knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Being the son of an inventor who insisted on living as far away from society as possible and was only just on the near side of ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’, his general response to anything that seems like it’s going to be trouble is to migrate to the opposite side of the room or, better yet, flee the premises entirely. Unfortunately Jack’s latest problem has anchored itself firmly to one of his arms and he lacks the resolve or motivation to adapt his usual tactics to the situation.
As most people know him, Jack is jumpy and nervous, with a weak will but a high sense of self-preservation. He tends to develop a nervous twitch in one of his eyes and has occasional fits of insomnia, but from time to time takes a valiant stab at optimism. He’s fairly bad at talking to people but he means well and he’d sort of like to help with the situation… but then again it’s probably a bad idea. His lack of self confidence tends to make him a satellite in most situations and he's very easily forgotten and overlooked. It should be noted he's not all doormat, though: being belittled and ignored for too long has given him a slow boiling temper, which can flare up surprisingly quickly, especially if he's under stress or hasn't been sleeping much lately.
Staring intently at Jack makes him uncomfortable. Asking more than five questions in short order with a stern look on your face makes Jack uncomfortable. Staring intently at the Gauntlet makes Jack uncomfortable. Any location that has a reasonable chance of being haunted makes Jack uncomfortable. Bringing up ghosts in conversation makes Jack uncomfortable. Jack is very rarely, if ever, comfortable.
Does your character have any skills or special abilities, a gimmick, or anything that makes it stand out as an athlete or fighter? If so, talk a little about it here. Be sure to include an explanation or origin story for anything unusual, extraordinary, or supernatural. >Jack himself is somewhat sickly and doesn’t have the best immune system. Given he’s wandering around in the great outdoors and often in the rain, this means that more often than not he’s dealing with some kind of cold. He actually has some pretty pathetic stamina and his physical capabilities are so-so at best, but his sense of self-preservation and a whole lot of practice makes him very good at spotting potential warning signs and, failing all else (which it usually does) he’s quite the sprinter.
He's no trained fighter and would probably be easily overpowered in combat thanks to his rather low pain tolerance.
Jack’s only supernatural abilities are attached to the Gauntlet. When active, the Gauntlet projects the shadow of an arm from his shadow, which can interact with physical objects. Its lifting strength and reach are both entirely dependent on how dark the area is— a dark area with lots of shadows, the arm is much bigger, stronger, and can stretch farther, though the further it stretches, the more it loses size and power. It is always anchored in Jack’s shadow, or, specifically, the shadow cast by the Gauntlet, so in order to make use of any shadow to transport the arm, his shadow needs to be either directly or indirectly touching it. (he could stretch the arm across a hallway if his shadow was touching the shadow of one piece of furniture, which is touching the shadow of another piece of furniture, which is touching the next shadow, and so on and so forth) Light is the only barrier that really means something to the arm (a concentrated beam of light can actually 'cut off' the arm and force it to retreat) as it is basically a controllable shadow- as long as Jack can see what he's grabbing at, he can get through most obstacles. Physically, it’s intangible, even when holding onto something. The only way the physical world affects the arm is, like any shadow, it needs something to project onto.
Jack rarely uses the Gauntlet unless pressured into it or he feels like he has to. Like most of his father’s inventions, he really doesn’t trust it, or understand its inner workings. Unidentified critical components of it came from Pumpkin Hill. That alone makes Jack extremely leery of it.
Does your character have any purpose? (It's okay if you don't have this fully figured out yet, but all the better if your character does have an agenda or some sort of driving force to it to make it interact with other characters.) >His main driving goal is staying alive and maintaining a comfortable, predictable schedule. He had both pretty well under control, until a couple of sketchy types started repeatedly visiting his house, and then his dad forced his ‘magnum opus’ on him and sent him off, allegedly to protect the Gauntlet. At present, Jack just wants to make sense of what’s going on and not starve to death in the wilderness. Oh, and get a long way away from Pumpkin Hill. It would also be fun if he could figure out how to take off the Gauntlet.
Does your character have an image? You can post it here, if so (as long as you follow the rules mentioned in the character guidelines). If not, please write a description of your character's appearance. >Jack is an albino, with very pale blue eyes that don’t take well to bright lights. His fur is very messy and aside from a mop of black hair on his head and dark patches under his eyes, is almost entirely an ashy gray color. He wears one white glove with an unadorned cuff, a pair of somewhat battered trainers in black with fraying gray laces, and a blue duffel bag containing a sleeping bag, what food he has on him, and a soaked, useless pack of matches. He has a black jacket with white lining that’s one size too big for him (though most clothing is, since he’s skinny as a rail) that he either wears or has tied around his waist.
The Gauntlet covers his left hand from the middle of his upper arm down, and is made of some tarnished, blackened metal. According to Jack, his fingers went numb a long time ago and continue to be so now. It fits basically to the figure of his arm and hand, aside from a round opening in the palm from which an eerie green light spills out. Staring at the light for long enough will show that there are small, silhouette figures passing back and forth in front of the light, each one with a wide, untrustworthy smile.
Jack does not like the Gauntlet. He is under the impression that it is sentient and trying to bend him to its will. He also tends to yell at it and blame it for his problems when under stress.
Will you be around to play your character regularly? (i.e. Keeping daily tabs on any threads you involve yourself in, and posting whenever it's your turn?) >I’m a frequent internet-er and do my best to keep up with threads. I’ve roleplayed before, so I’m kind of familiar with this song and dance.
Do you live in or near the Americas, or elsewhere? (It may be difficult for you to participate in any of the fast-moving sessions if you're only online when the rest of the group is asleep, so we ask this just to be aware of any potential problems.) >In the Americas.
Are you okay with having your character information and image on this website (such as on the wiki)? >Yep.
What is your name? (This question isn't optional. We need something to call you by that isn't your character's name. Don't post your last name, though! This forum isn't private.) >I would prefer not to reveal my actual name if that’s possible, if so, you can just call me PVB or Badger, or some easily-abbreviated variation of my screen name. If not, I can provide it.

Before fully reviewing this, I'd just like to ask for some sort of greater explanation about where the gauntlet comes from (if you have it figured out) and where you expect its dead-set limitations will be power-wise. In other words, how easily do you picture this thing overpowering characters who aren't toting halogen lights everywhere to defend themselves? How can one resist being outright thrown about by it without resorting to the bright-light weakness? While it does seem like it'll be pretty useless in broad daylight, what makes it fair when the midnight hour rolls around?
Now, if you want to keep the device's history a secret (which is by all means encouraged around these parts since we hate it when character profiles blandly splay out all of a character's inner workings and secrets), you can click the PM button below this post to explain it privately.

The gauntlet is the result of Michael Hastings Senior's research, which seems to specialize in/revolve around ghosts. I kept it vague because the character (in the App referred to as Jack but I'm going to be calling him Mike since there already is a Jack, sorry about the confusion) knows little about his father's research. Something in it came from Pumpkin Hill, Michael Sr. seems extremely proud of it. But it was built entirely by the character in question's father. I'll PM you with more details.
The Gauntlet isn't exactly combat material, since using it requires him to stay in one place and concentrate and if his focus is broken, the arm weakens significantly in its grip, while moving him at all actually dissolves the arm, so even if someone didn't have a light source (and a light doesn't have to be bright enough to dissipate the shadow in order to be effective against it- its power IS connected to how dark it is, so lighting up the arm any amount weakens it) they could get free by either distracting Mike or attacking/making him move. Given his standard panic response is 'hit the ground running', he's not too keen to hold his ground when using the gauntlet.

In regards to the character and its star ratings (which you are surely at least a touch familiar with if you've looked at any other character profiles), the gauntlet should be taken into consideration. This is because it's basically permanently attached to him, from the looks of things. In other words, if it's strong enough under optimal conditions to pick up anything terribly heavy, then make sure the Strength star rating reflects that, and so on, and so forth.
Have fun, and be sure to let somebody know when you're finished and satisfied with your editing so we can give it a look-see, stamp it, and get you on your way into the RP!
