(Before I start, I would like to point out that I'm new to the forums. So forgive any minor mistakes that I make within my profile. I am looking forward to returning to Sonic RP after a long time.) What is your character's name? >Douglas Yorgen Species? >Hedgehog Age? >21 Give us a couple paragraphs of general info about your character. For example, what's the character's personality like? What kind of things does he or she do? Why does he or she do it? (Please don't give us your character's point-by-point life history, though.) > He tends to keep out of trouble however. He looks to learn from the people he meets. As a knight, he can probably defend himself should it be necessary. Despite his imposingly large appearance he seems rather clever nonetheless. He isn't too socially advanced, but he isn't a total savage either. Just know that more pretentious characters might take offense to his peasant-like ways. Does your character have any skills or special abilities, a gimmick, or anything that makes it stand out as an athlete or fighter? If so, talk a little about it here. Be sure to include an explanation or origin story for anything unusual, extraordinary, or supernatural. > Douglas is an excellent swordsman, but above all that, he's a powerhouse, he can take alot of hits before going down and with his apparent strength, in any unarmed situation he'd fight in a style similar to Bark. Simple and Strong attacks. Does your character have any purpose? (It's okay if you don't have this fully figured out yet, but all the better if your character does have an agenda or some sort of driving force to it to make it interact with other characters.) > He intends to learn from the people he is going to meet in this new land, having spent most of his life secluded in his hut in the mountains, he had never had much social contact. Does your character have an image? You can post it here, if so (as long as you follow the rules mentioned in the character guidelines). http://i.imgur.com/vo13V.jpg Aditionally: Douglas seems to be a traveler based off his looks, though well kept, he is constantly seen with a leather backpack and strapped underneath is his longsword. He wears light armor, Heavy leather with a Steel breastplate. He's tall, and buff, though not overly muscular. He appears to be a powerhouse that relies on Strength over speed. Will you be around to play your character regularly? (i.e. Keeping daily tabs on any threads you involve yourself in, and posting whenever it's your turn?) >Often, as this will be my main character. Do you live in or near the Americas, or elsewhere? (It may be difficult for you to participate in any of the fast-moving sessions if you're only online when the rest of the group is asleep, so we ask this just to be aware of any potential problems.) > Belgium, Europe. But I can be on often, especially in weekends despite the timezone difference. Are you okay with having your character information and image on this website (such as on the wiki)? > Of Course. What is your name? (Don't post your last name! This forum isn't private!) > Glenn |

Quote: [19:40] DouglasTH Have you people considered trying to make an IRC Channel for RP to improve progression? [19:41] DouglasTH Because I'm not very impressed by the forums, the last post was two days ago. With all due respect. The rules wrote: This is a text-based role-playing group on a forum. It is not a MUD or any other literal "game," and it does not take place in a chat room. We make heavy use of IRC to stay in touch, socialize, and discuss the RP, but we do not actually play in IRC. ... RPing is not our life. This is a hobby on the side for all of us, and while we have rules regarding inactivity (which very strongly require communication when participation is not possible), we all ultimately play only as much as we're able. Life comes first. If you live and breathe RP and need to have a constant flow of posts to stay interested, you may want to find a group with a faster pace. Also, for the record, the last RP post was today. There have been 22 posts today, and at least several posts every day. Still, as the rules say, we are not a quick-fire forum where you can instantly jump in with some half-cocked hedgehog fancharacter who is grossly outside of the series' styling and pop out a post a minute. I strongly recommend you go somewhere like http://sonic-cyclone.net/ for that kind of thing. We're a group of people who are mostly in later teens or twenties, and RPing is not our lives. We take it seriously and we try to do it well, but we do it at our own pace, and what that amounts to is "when we damn well feel like it," because we're not here to impress anyone. You can take it or leave it. Also, from the rules: Quote: Make your character original, but able to fit in with the rest of the Sonic world. Our RP world's "styling" is pretty broad, just like the games. There are locales that are uncivilized, rustic, old-world-like, modern, and scifi-futuristic. For the most part, we lean toward the modern/futuristic side, so anything too far off from that (like, say, a Japanese-named, katana-toting, geta-wearing samurai) will probably seem out of place and heavily risk coming across like a gag character. So, it's generally advised that you stick to a modern or lightly-futuristic scifi flavor when styling your character. It should go without saying, but, we'll say it anyway: Please don't make your submission seem like some character from Kingdom Hearts, Naruto, DBZ, World of Warcraft, or anything else of the sort. This is a Sonic RP. If you want to RP something else, go find the right RP. That said, I hesitate to accept some "swordsman" into a Sonic RP like this without a good reason. (No, we aren't a Sonic and the Black Knight RP. That didn't happen in our continuity.) We can tack you on as a "beginner" member, the restrictions of which you can read in the "how to submit your first character" thread. Otherwise, I suggest you find someplace that impresses you moreāand that you can better impress, yourself. |
