Post subject:  Want to get a feel for the RP before you submit a character?

If you're uncertain about what kind of character to make, would rather get a feel for the RP first, get involved, and see how things "roll" around here, there's actually an alternative.

Join as a "beginner" member

"Beginner" here isn't really a statement of skill (or lack thereof). It just means that you're new to our group, and like said above, aren't sure about how to flesh out your character yet. To join as a beginner member, here's what you need to do:

  1. Carefully read our original character guidelines.
  2. At least browse and take a quick look at the other RP rules.
  3. Register for a forum account if you haven't already.
  4. Visit the chat and get to know some people! We don't bite, and we're always happy to answer questions.
(The chat is normally active in the evening hours [GMT -5].)
  5. Reply to this thread with your character's name, species, and one paragraph about him or her. If you want to introduce yourself (as in you, the player!), that would be cool, too.
(Note: You can tell us more about the character than that if you really want to, but if you're planning on going into much detail, you should really just go ahead and join the regular way.)

What's the catch?

Obviously, there has to be something, right? Here's the deal:

  1. To avoid possible story disruption, beginner member RP posts will not appear in the thread until reviewed by a moderator. You will receive an e-mail when your posts are approved or disapproved.
  2. Beginner member characters cannot have supernatural powers or extreme athletic abilities. Got a beef with that? Join the regular way.
(For those of you familiar with the star ratings, beginner characters' abilities are basically equivalent to to ~2 stars in every category.)
  3. Beginner member characters are still subject to all of the aforementioned original character guidelines. Get familiar with them and police yourself, or else your posts will be edited and/or disapproved by our moderators.
  4. Beginner members cannot play an official Sega character. No exceptions. Sorry.
  5. If you choose to get involved in an RP thread, do your absolute best to be active and keep up. We're not trying to be mean or anything, but if you're slow to respond, we will edit/delete your posts and keep moving on without you to maintain the fun of the story for our dedicated "full" members.

To put it simply: If you join this way, it should only be a temporary arrangement so you can get a feel for how things work around here. Please try to submit and complete a full character profile as soon as you're comfortable.

If you have any questions at all, please, feel free to ask. Otherwise, click reply, and fire away!
