The Questionnaire!

What is your character's name?
> Keelie ‘Key’ Ryan

Species?
> Koala

Age?
> 18

Give us a couple paragraphs of general info about your character. For example, what's the character's personality like? What kind of things does he or she do? Why does he or she do it?
> The first thing to know about Keelie is that you do NOT call her Keelie. As far as you’re concerned, her name is Key. The second thing to know is that she will likely come across as disinterested and rude. Shuffled around frequently throughout her childhood due to her parents (research scientists, astronomers to be specific- you would not believe the multitude of observatories that one just HAS to work at, apparently), Key isn’t so great at making a good first impression. By her logic, she never sticks around one place long enough for it to matter, so she shouldn’t put forth the effort. In fact, instead of going for ‘good first impression’, Key decided at an early age to shoot for ‘make any LASTING impression’, and thus adopted the habit of being incredibly blunt. Filters tend not to exist with this koala. While such a childhood may have stunted her ability to form decent relationships, it did foster in her a distinct love of traveling, science, and, curiously, the arts of code-breaking, lock-picking, and just plain being sneaky (Hey, if your parents spent all day in locked-up laboratories, you’d be eager to figure out a way to sneak in and find out what was going on, too… or so Key claims). Her ability with codes and keys has begun to get noticed, and she has been offered jobs of the slightly criminal sort. Whether she accepts them is typically up to what she’s asked to steal, who she’s asked to steal from, and if she really needs the money at the time- she’s not above criminal acts, but she refuses to steal from anyone who would miss what they had. (Robin Hood-esque, only she doesn’t steal from the rich and give to the poor, she just refuses to steal from good people.)

Key isn’t opposed to making friends; she just really isn’t that good at in. In fact, it’s very likely that she’s out-and-out terrible at it, so she just doesn’t tend to try. But, if you earn her respect, she’s a good ally to have on your side, as she will defend anyone who actually gets her to like them. Once you’ve achieved that rare status, she’ll still be blunt, sarcastic, and somewhat rough around the edges, though- she really has no idea how a good friend behaves, and sometimes it’s difficult to tell if she likes you or not. However, in a group she cares about, Key cannot abide fights: she’ll do anything in her power to resolve the issue, acting as a mediator despite her typical reserved nature.

Practical to a fault, don’t be surprised if Key doesn’t get many jokes. Her sense of humor is remarkably strange and very dry- it’s hard to tell if she’s joking at all, when she’s in the mood to joke. She also tends to immediately take things seriously, provided they’re realistic. Tell her the sky is falling, and she’ll calmly explain why that isn’t possible, but tell her you feel like you’re dying of hunger and she’ll likely attempt to rush you to the hospital for malnutrition.

Does your character have any skills or special abilities, a gimmick, or anything that makes it stand out as an athlete or fighter? If so, talk a little about it here.
> Key doesn’t seek out fights, as she tires out quickly, but if there’s a cause for it she’ll fight tooth and nail- literally. However, she’s a particularly good climber, and can scale almost anything provided she can find some form of foot and handholds. Similarly, she can unlock anything, given a bit of time and luck- spending a lot of time on her own led her to be very analytical and inquisitive, thus leading her to develop skills as a lock picker and code-breaker. In this vein, she can rapidly learn a variety of things, from how to drive a vehicle to how to use a weapon (not necessarily WELL, but she can figure it out, and that’s a start, isn’t it?)

Does your character have a purpose?
> Key’s purpose is to investigate and understand, and she doesn’t necessarily care if she does that legally or not. If the answer to a question that’s bugging her is behind security-clearance-level-five, locked doors, she’ll find a way to break through the codes and locks to get her answer.

Does your character have an image? You can post it here, if so. If not, please write a description of your character's appearance.
> Image
(Much love to the Spikykazz for this. ;w; )

Will you be around to play your character regularly? (i.e. Keeping daily tabs on any threads you involve yourself in, and posting whenever it's your turn?)
> As a college student I practically live online, so, yes.

Do you live in or near the Americas, or elsewhere? (It isn't that we disallow people from other continents, but it may be difficult for you to participate in any of the fast-moving sessions if you're only online when the rest of the group is asleep. So, we ask this just to be aware of any potential problems.)
> I do indeed live in the Americas.

And last but not least, what is your name? (For privacy purposes, you shouldn't post your last name! This forum isn't private!)
> Call me Jeni. n_n

Special Note: I just made a thief character that, hilariously, is one of the few animals that has fingerprints. There’s a joke in there somewhere. XD

Approved! No problems, and only one question raised.

The one area that was slightly unclear was the whole "code-breaking" thing. One person reading over the info asked whether that meant safe-cracking or cryptography. The latter implies a more "computer hacker" character type, but there's nothing mentioned about her having any computing skills, so... It might just be something to clear up in the finished profile.

Speaking of profiles:

Key the Koala

Wiki template has been dropped in and started. Feel free to bother Kazz as much as you need to! (And if he's useless, we can help, too.)

Hopefully, we'll be able to figure out some meaningful way to get your character involved in an active part of the cast. We're coming up on the end of a major story arc soon, so it might work out well, but at the same time, it may be a little confusing to catch up on what's going on. If you've got any questions, though, we're around.

I can see how that would be confusing (hence why you don't write profiles late at night). It's more in terms of safe-cracking than computer hacking, although there's some cryptography involved as she knows some ciphers. No computer hacking, though, I don't think- I'm not knowledgeable enough in that area to fake it convincingly.

Confusing is okay. I'll lurk around and see if I can get an inkling of what's going on. If I have any questions I'll be sure to ask. n_n Thanks!
