The command center looked like a warzone. A big section of floor was charred, warped and sagging, as if partially turned to slag. Smoke was billowing up through the glowing, yellow, cylinder-shaped isolation field, which flickered occasionally, but dutifully hummed along, doing its job for at least a little while longer.
Ugly as it was, living bodies rained off the tower-like command center platform, propelled out of the isolation field by the blast. They plummeted to the distant metal floor below. Seven's bomb in that comparatively small area was overkill, no question. The power was so much that even his own cover didn't protect him fully; the black-clad troublemaker lay under a bent, shredded, fully-blown-out computer terminal, which appeared to have been torn out of the floor and knocked over atop him, partially pinning him down.
Seven sat up tenderly, clutching at an arm, grimacing, and looking entirely worse for wear in every possible way. He nonetheless lifted the console enough to pull his leg out from under it, rolled over face-down, and pushed himself up onto his knees with considerable effort. He appeared to be experiencing some mix of pain and satisfaction, and coughed every time he started to laugh, and winced behind his grins.
"... Biometric analysis interface ready," said the computer's voice. The system was somehow still operable. A probe-like structure with a single, glassy-looking lens on the underside extended from the distant ceiling above, and began projecting a circle of blue, grid-lined light that encompassed the command chair and a space of twenty-five feet around it on all sides. "Please approach the center of the platform."
Across the platform, by the simple fortune of already being knocked flat, much of the sheer force of the blast passed over Desmond. While it still surely shook him, rolled him, and propelled him like some sort of vicious sledgehammer of force toward the tower's edge, it did not push him into the isolation field. As such, he remained as the only other candidate besides Seven for this twisted game of King of the Hill.
The arena litteraly took a bombshell as the place went to hell and bodies went flying everywhere like ragdolls. Out of some lucky coincidence, Desmond managed to stay inside of the isolation field (barely but still). Ears ringing, body aching, and thoughts jumbled, the ferret could only move his head as he attempted to make out shapes with his distorted vision. A sharpnel from his EMP grenade managed to strike him in the head, leaving another injury to take care of later. Ignoring the small bonus scar, Desmond did what came natural to him and yelled out for some sort of "role call" purpose.
"Mako!" the ferret called aloud, trying to see if his team members were even alive, seeing as the explosion had the potential to kill on impact (the tattered grounds kind of gave it away). Waiting for a response, the ferret waited and recollected his vision and ability to actually see things. Only hearing his echo and noticing the illuminating blue feild near the throne room, he began to heave himself up, ignoring the severe pain with a bit of annoyance of his wounds casting as a temporary cure.
Picking himself up, he began his slow travel towards the scanning feild until a familiar and maniacle yet labored, laugh danced through his eardrums, as it was loud enough past the lasting sounds of still falling debri and mettalic tremors of crumbling ground and broken machinery.
"You still there?" he called over in Seven's direction, simply too tired to be angered by the persistance of the boy. In fact, he fell a bit curious on if rather the kid had a high durability or was just simply lucky to still be breathing. Pulling out his last weapon, a combat knife, the ferret continued to walk over to the throne, while keeping a good eye on Seven. Hopefully the boy would simply stay there and watch, but that was a highly unlikly proposition. "What are you aiming for?" the ferret questioned modestly, as the boy's intentions spiked his curiosity.

Seven's eyes darted to Desmond, and his smile warped quickly into a frown of distaste or disappointment.
"Why are you still even here?" the purple-haired boy asked while he quickly stood and began half-limping, half-jogging toward the glowing circle where the computer awaited the final scan. He definitely wanted to beat the ferret there, no question about it. As he went, he drew his machine pistol came from its holster, the crisp, identifiable sound of metal against leather punctuating the movement.
He leveled the gun on Desmond's lower-body; his synthetic glove creaked as he gripped it tightly in anticipation. In a second, he'd squeeze the trigger and unload the rest of his magazine at his foe's legs.
I know you're still stuck with just an iPhone, so don't rush to answer this until you feel like it, or it's otherwise convenient.
The subsided grin and the weapon being revealed from the shadows of the boy's cloak didn't make the situation any better. Sighing with a bit of nervous tension, Desmond attempted something he probably was going to regret.
Stalling.
Walking ever so slowly towards a piece of desimated floor, the ferret began a probably short conversation. "I don't know you well" he said in a stoic fashion, attempting to look as calm as possible, "and I'm guessing you can say the same yourself." Giving the weapon Seven had in hand a look, he eyed Seven and motioned his gaze down to the gun. "We both are pretty messed up as it is, so why don't you put the gun down and I'll drop my knife," he offered holding his knife out while fragily pinching the handle, "And let's solve this like mature adults."
Close enough to possible cover, a slice of the rubble pointed towards the sky and high enough to cover at least to his shoulders, he stopped a few inches away from it, ready to jump behind it if need be.
"Why not settle this with a... race or something?"

The boy actually wasn't yet opening fire. Why? Because Desmond wasn't obstructing him from getting to his objective. Seven may have been a punk, but apparently, he didn't go gunning people down if they weren't stopping him.
"Yeah, how about no," Seven replied with dripping sarcasm as he continued to jaunt toward the glowing ring, widening the gap between him and the ferret, and narrowing the gap between himself and victory. He was now walking while turned mostly backward, still aiming at Desmond. He had only twenty or so feet to go. "Instead, I'll just go over here, and, you know... win. And you can stay right there, and not get shot. We both win that way, in our own little way... well, mine being better than yours, but, still, y— wha—"
There was one instant of opportunity, a dumb-luck moment: Seven, not looking where he was going, stumbled, and, owing to his limp, fell down over a piece of debris. He'd be quick to get back up, to aim, and to fire if necessary, but it was a window of opportunity to do something, even if small, but only if Desmond acted fast.
That opportunity couldn't have been timed any better. Taking his flimsly held knife back into a decent grip, Desmond threw his knife powerfully at Seven, aiming for his good arm with a vertical throw just in case he attempted to rise up hastily as it hopefully would hit somewhere on his lower body if need be. If all else failed, maybe it would ricochet off the ground and hit something useful.
His next move led him into a feral stance, as going on all fours (or threes or twos and a half...) would be the quickest way over to the scanning ring. Taking a quick dash foward, he rushed over towards the throne.

Getting a knife to hit over a long distance in such a pinch could be a finicky thing, but it worked out surprisingly well even if it didn't hit the precise target Desmond had designated. It managed to strike blade-first right into Seven's ribs; while it didn't stab straight into him, even just the partial impact left an impressive gash that he quickly clutched as he was (again) downed with a shout.
This gave the running (or bizarrely rodentlike-scurrying?) opponent time to actually make it into the circle, and...
"Biometric analysis complete," said the computer to Desmond after just seconds.
Gaining control didn't solve the problem that immediately followed, though: Seven was still alive and armed. He rolled over to face the ferret, and, grimacing and vengeful, raised his machinepistol and cut loose at him full-auto with what remained in the magazine.
With the scanning complete Desmond looked back at Seven, full of anger at his apparent cheap shot. Bullets went flying at him in an instant. "Gah!" the ferret yelped as he ducked behind the large throne seat, while taking a hit to his numb leg as it limped behind. Hopefully Eggman's throne was made to be durable enough to substain the incoming fire.
"Computer!" he shouted, "I have a hostile attempting to possibly kill me!" Shouting over the the rain of Seven's remaining ammunition, he waited for either the computer to respond or for the boy to get close enough so that he could possibly disarm the machine gun weilding maniac.
"Oh great" he sighed as he eyed the new hole in his tights, "Hopefully mom can fix this problem..."

Seven stood crookedly but stably, huffing and puffing. A grin crept across his face as he depressed the magazine release and reached for a replacement. The empty magazine clattered noisily to the floor, the new one clicked into place with a noisy and unmistakable "clack-clatch," and he trained the gun on the ferret's cover as he began to move around it in a wide berth for a clear, safe shot.
Meanwhile, the computer responded to Desmond.
"All combat and security units are currently idle and set to passive mode," it said dryly, and far too calmly for the situation at hand. "If you are having any difficulty with a 'hostile,' it may be advisable to set all units to aggressive mode."
Alas, computers. It didn't do anything because Desmond didn't tell it to. Faced with the simple complaint of a bad situation, it only offered up a possible solution, but did nothing on its own.
"Do I need to frank with you?" Desmond yelled angrily at the electronic voice, which apparently didn't see the drasticness of the situation. Obviously this A.I wasn't that bright, so in turn he had to be quite direct with his request.
Taking a peek behind the throne to see where Seven was, he positioned himself farther away from the hostile child, just a bit more on the opposite side of the seat. "Set one third of the airborne units on aggressive mode." he took a deep breath, wondering if the next part was worth it. "Disarm the aggressor, that is not a kill on sight order."
While Not letting the boy get any closer than his personal comfort would allow, the ferret attempted to at least give the kid an option to surrender. "I'll have drones on you in a minute" he called over, "Why not just drop the weapon now so this won't get ugly?"
This game of cat and mouse had to end soon. And he didn't want to be on the loosing side.

Seven found ample time to sidestep around and start burst-firing shots, rat-a-tat-tatting blazing spews of bullets at any shred of Desmond he could get his sights on as the ferret quipped and chatted. Basically, unless he did something more... proactive than just crawling in a circle around the throne, even a limping Seven would manage to draw a bead on him.
"Maybe you should just do what I tell you and stop everything before you get hurt," retorted Seven as he pursued with vigor increased. Any hope of turning things around was long gone for him, though, as robots did indeed start to come soaring down from above. They closed in on Seven's position quickly, deactivated the isolation field, and charged in, sending him running away as they attempted to capture him non-lethally.
Though it'd be hard to tell it from right there, not all of the reinforcements arrived at the central platform to harass Seven. Instead, many more divebombed in all around it, charging at, blasting at, and attempting to seize all the "intruders" they could manage — everyone except Desmond, obviously.
Hearing a faint sound in the distance, like a firefight was happening, Desmond remembered the others who where blown out of the field. Facepalming at the trouble the A.I was causing, like a small child doing what you said but adding something extra (which in this case wasn't good at all), he began to yell at the computer voice like a child being disciplined.
"No!" he shouted, "Bad computer, go after the human boy." Not expecting the A.I to fully comprehend the full scale of the situation, he added a bit more, "Cease fire on the non human targets, and if you could, put me on speaker or something."
Sighing deeply in annoyance he walked to the front of the damaged throne seat, sat down, crossed his legs and began to comtemplate his next action.

"Understood," responded the computer. True to its word, the flying robots stopped assailing friendlies and diverted their attention accordingly. Seven was meanwhile taking a leap off the tower, and disappearing into the vast depths of the atrium with heaven-only-knows-how-many robots in pursuit.
Clearing his throat with a few light coughs, the ferret made an announcment to those on the ship. "This is your captain speaking" he said in a firm tone, attempting not to chuckle at the odd humor he found in the title, "Those who wish to return back planet side are advised to meet me at the top of the platform." Looking at his nonexistent watch, Desmond thought for a bit before adding the next part, "And you have 20 minutes before you are stranded here."
Gazing up at the ceiling he called out to the A.I, "Okay, you can take me off of speaker."
Finished with his short speech per say, another object of concern breached his thoughts. "Um, computer?" he asked, "Could you find a fat human male the shape of an egg running around here?" Taking a thought on what he said, he made up a lie in case the computer felt a bit suspicious. "I let a, uh... clone run around the base and I seemed to have lost him."

Fortunately for Desmond, the computer had already performed a biometric scan and genuinely thought Dr. Eggman was a three-foot-tall ferret. As such, it did not question his request.
"One obese human departed in escape pod #117 from reactor core corridor 4 approximately 30 seconds ago," it stated plainly.
