It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

The command center looked like a warzone. A big section of floor was charred, warped and sagging, as if partially turned to slag. Smoke was billowing up through the glowing, yellow, cylinder-shaped isolation field, which flickered occasionally, but dutifully hummed along, doing its job for at least a little while longer.
Ugly as it was, living bodies rained off the tower-like command center platform, propelled out of the isolation field by the blast. They plummeted to the distant metal floor below. Seven's bomb in that comparatively small area was overkill, no question. The power was so much that even his own cover didn't protect him fully; the black-clad troublemaker lay under a bent, shredded, fully-blown-out computer terminal, which appeared to have been torn out of the floor and knocked over atop him, partially pinning him down.
Seven sat up tenderly, clutching at an arm, grimacing, and looking entirely worse for wear in every possible way. He nonetheless lifted the console enough to pull his leg out from under it, rolled over face-down, and pushed himself up onto his knees with considerable effort. He appeared to be experiencing some mix of pain and satisfaction, and coughed every time he started to laugh, and winced behind his grins.
"... Biometric analysis interface ready," said the computer's voice. The system was somehow still operable. A probe-like structure with a single, glassy-looking lens on the underside extended from the distant ceiling above, and began projecting a circle of blue, grid-lined light that encompassed the command chair and a space of twenty-five feet around it on all sides. "Please approach the center of the platform."
There was only one individual remaining besides Seven: a particular red bird, immune to the fiery effects of the blast, but shaken from her position by the shockwave, was deposited against another busted-up terminal very similar (and very near) to the one Seven had just wrestled off himself. What would happen when the two realized one another's presence remained to be seen. searchindextag chapter4search

Feeling like her brain was now pudding, Ember moved to stand on shaky legs. No sooner after she managed to balance she was back on the floor. Taking a few deep breaths, she tried again and was successful. The robotic voice dinged in her head as she started hazily into blue field. Bio-what? Biology? Whatever.
She spied Seven and her frown deepened. Whatever the stupid robot was spewing didn't matter. Seven was there was just ripe for finishing. The little brat that caused so much $%@& was just perfect to pick off. Just a good spark and-
No. Feeling ill to her stomach, Ember pushed the dark thought away. Wrenching her attention away, she started at a unsteady run towards the light. Seven was just a kid. The fact that she entrained the thought for even a second was disgusting. Sometimes she wondered if having this bracelet was a bad idea.
Pshaw, never. She was just feeling terrible. Terrible makes terrible. Yeah.
The center stage was closer now. Just a hop skip and a jump away. Unless Seven stopped her, she was just going to make it home free. What awaited her she really wasn't sure. But heck, she was better than Seven.

"N-nuh uh!" shouted Seven as he lunged to his feet, only to fall to one knee first, scramble, and then start limping after the bird. One hand clutched across his abdomen while the other drew the machinepistol hanging from his thigh holster and leveled it at Ember's back.
"Stop! I'll shoot, ImeanitIreallywillSTOP!"
It seemed that, for whatever reason, Seven actually hesitated to shoot a running girl in the back. In his desperation, he chased all the faster, willing away his limp and actually gaining on her; as it would turn out, unless Ember turned back or stopped, they'd reach the center ring at almost the same time. Needless to say, this would delay the analysis process.

She didn't stop.
Barely even slowing her gait, she whipped around to face Seven. Without pausing she rushed towards him, a fiery shield coming up over her barrier. There was no quip about 'just staying down' or even a cocky smile crossing her broken beak. Simply the reflection of the flames in her brown eyes. Ember was sick of playing games.
All that mattered now was keeping Seven down. Even if it meant making sure he wouldn't be moving anytime soon. Pushing her body, she pumped her legs faster. She had an advantage over his limp, even if she wasn't the more sure-footed. Even then, she could take to the skies.
The bird just really wanted everything to end for once.

Seven was alarmed by her sudden rush, and, with eyes wide, he staggered back and squeezed the trigger in a death grip. Shots rattled off like a buzz, muzzle strobing; in but a couple seconds, the weapon was dry, chamber locked open. Not a single round did a thing to the flaming orb surrounding Ember, and but a second later, the boy was knocked for a loop, sent sailing out of the circle and tumbling across the ground by her fiery rush. It was beginning to seem like some kind of a pattern that he didn't fare terribly well against girls with shield rings.
His empty weapon slid free and useless across the floor, and he laid there dazed, his hair singed, and his already-black jumpsuit just a little more sooty. He was still conscious, however, and given the opportunity, would pull himself back up by his bootstraps once again. He may have been a wimp, but he was a determined one.

Her adversary down on the ground, Ember knelt over him. Keeping a knee firmly planted on his chest, she let out a long sigh. No longer burning, she leaned her face towards him and started to speak.
"Look okay. Shut your mouth and just listen. I want to hurt you. I want to make you into roman candle and just toss you off this stupid platform. And you're not making it any less tempting. But-I don't want too. I want to let you go and hope you just cower off into whatever hole you crawled out from."
A finger pressed itself right between the boy's eyes, still hot from the flames from earlier.
"I know that isn't what is going to happen but just let me pretend to give you a choice. I dunno humor me. For once act like the kid you are and run away to mommy or whatever you have."
The bare finger increased in pressure as she delivered her last line with a smidge of humor,
"Five seconds bucko before we see how fast eyebrows burn."

Seven's hand rested on his knife's grip.
"You burn me and I'll cut you back," he threatened cockily, but seriously. "You know I'm fast enough. We don't have to do it this way, seriously."
His orange eyes glanced aside, toward the still-blocked-off stairway. He looked back to her seriously, and his tone changed and became more down-to-earth.
"Humor me for a second, instead, here, and just tell me something seriously. Those people you came with — are they your friends?"

The question threw her for a loop. It was the last thing she expected to come from anyone here. The other statements fitted perfectly and were the only reason she was sure he wasn't brain-damaged now.
Cracking a smile, she gave a chittering laugh.
"Nah, prolly not. I mean like, yeah they're cool. Wouldn't try and hurt them and hope they wouldn't do the same for me. But not peeps I want to go and chill with. Not someone I would really trust. 'Friend' s'a nice word to toss around. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy. But, yeah no. No friends here kid.
Casting a critical eye upon him, she asked "Why? You wanna learn how to make buddies? Go ask monkey, he's great at it."

"Well... why don't we be friends, then?" he asked with as much of a shrug as he could manage in the position, lowering his hand from his knife by a couple inches. "I've watched you some. You like burning things. I want to burn specific things — to make the world a better place. Things like Eggman's factories, my old GUN bosses' facilities..." He raised his eyebrows hopefully. "I'm a good planner, you've... got fire...? We could really make it work."

Ember let up off of him. Straightening herself, she just stared down at Seven for a moment. Then she promptly burst into laughter.
"Oh man, really? Are you serious dude? Yeah sure, I'll join up with a kid that never shuts up and will backstab me when he feels like it. Yeah, man no. I don't do that junk. I'm stupid but come on."
Giving her hand a flick, she let it go back up in dancing flames.
"Also, that was more than five seconds."
With that, she aimed a firey punch at his stomach. She didn't want to admit it, but she was looking somewhat forward to this.

As soon as she went to throw that punch, he went for his knife.
Throwing fiery punches wasn't so much just about burning, though; the aura of chaos energy surrounding such a blow was repulsive (in the pushing sense, not the disgusting sense) and powerful; his attempt at a slash collided with her punch and was plainly, harmlessly overpowered, sending his weapon flying, and bathing him in a quick blast of fire from the gut outward that made him shout quite... shrilly.
Not a lot of dignity, there, but it was hard to preserve it when being burned.
Seven rolled over onto his side and smoldered. She could pretty easily take more shots at him if she wanted, but it looked like he wasn't going to move too soon. He could be removed from the ring.

Guilt twisted her gut as the boy screamed below her. Instead of focusing on it though, she quickly backed up. Scooping up the fallen knife, she wasted no time in tossing it over the edge. That took care of one problem. There was just one more.
Grabbing the back of Seven's shirt, she started to drag him towards the edge. It took effort to pull him along but she knew it wasn't far to go. The bird wasn't harsh enough to tilt him over the full edge. Though the kid was the worst living thing she had ever come across she still felt some kind of pity for him now. Finding a good spot, she would push him over the edge. It wasn't a far drop to the stairs beneath but it would give her enough time to get this all over. Hopefully Seven was weaponless now.
Shoving aside the sick feeling that filled her, she trudged off to the welcoming golden light that beckoned her. The time had come to just end all of this entire mess.

It all seemed so simple. Just like that, it was done; Seven was ejected from the running, Ember waltzed into the central area, and...
"Biometric analysis complete."
... It was done. But now what?
"What is your command?"

Jumping a bit at the voice, Ember scratched at the back of her head sheepishly. What could she order this thing to do?
"Um, I guess like...get the heck out of this place? That possible man? 'Cause some of those people probably need a doctor or something. So...yeah. Need to be back on earth."
It felt worse than trying to make small talk with a rock.

The floor opened directly under Ember, dropping her haplessly into the seat of a waiting Egg Mobile, which rose up and out of the deck of its own accord, hovering silently. It was open-topped, but one could only assume that Eggman's escape vehicle of choice had the necessary equipment for spaceflight.
(Ember was utterly dwarfed by the big, leather seat.)
"Understood. Beginning full evacuation," the computer said. Except... it started moving robots around and out rather than her friends. It maaay have misunderstood.
