The command center looked like a warzone. A big section of floor was charred, warped and sagging, as if partially turned to slag. Smoke was billowing up through the glowing, yellow, cylinder-shaped isolation field, which flickered occasionally, but dutifully hummed along, doing its job for at least a little while longer.
Ugly as it was, living bodies rained off the tower-like command center platform, propelled out of the isolation field by the blast. They plummeted to the distant metal floor below. Seven's bomb in that comparatively small area was overkill, no question. The power was so much that even his own cover didn't protect him fully; the black-clad troublemaker lay under a bent, shredded, fully-blown-out computer terminal, which appeared to have been torn out of the floor and knocked over atop him, partially pinning him down.
Seven sat up tenderly, clutching at an arm, grimacing, and looking entirely worse for wear in every possible way. He nonetheless lifted the console enough to pull his leg out from under it, rolled over face-down, and pushed himself up onto his knees with considerable effort. He appeared to be experiencing some mix of pain and satisfaction, and coughed every time he started to laugh, and winced behind his grins.
"... Biometric analysis interface ready," said the computer's voice. The system was somehow still operable. A probe-like structure with a single, glassy-looking lens on the underside extended from the distant ceiling above, and began projecting a circle of blue, grid-lined light that encompassed the command chair and a space of twenty-five feet around it on all sides. "Please approach the center of the platform."
Meanwhile, far away, dangerously near to the edge of the platform and mere inches from the isolation field, was Geoff. No amount of crystal would have been enough to protect him fully from that blast, but it was enough to increase his mass such that he was the only other combatant not blown clear off the tower. Instead, he had lucked up and stopped a hair's width from ejection. It may have been hard to call being in that situation "lucky" in any way, though.

"Shiiiiiit..." groaned the hedgehog in question. "That hurts..."
Geoff flopped onto his back from his limp, sideways position, crystal crumbling into a shattered outline around his body. The explosion itself had brought the armor into a weakened state at first, the creator feeling too defeated from the blow to bother keeping it united. He had been one of the more unfortunate concerning distance between one's body and the dropped trench coat, the results a bit obvious judging his obliterated rock shell and his slightly pained expression. Now, he just closed his eyes in an attempt to pull together his jarred system, feeling as though he just took an impact from an oncoming semi.
Seven. The name popped into his mind almost immediately, recalling the kid's actions only moments before. Of course he would have one last card up his sleeve. Just the thoughts of the antagonist provoked Geoff to grit his teeth inadvertently. It was one of those moments where he wished Seven would just give up. But that was an impossibility, wasn't it? It was as if the heavens themselves had determined that the brat was destined to aggravate him for eternity.
Should have tossed him off the minute we got up here.
Gradually, he let his eyes open, his head falling to his left, a calming blue glow greeting him from the center of the platform. The grid of light seemed to beckon for him now. Hadn't there been a voice earlier? Perhaps that meant it was finally over. But did that mean he was the only one left?
His inner question soon was answered by the brief flicker of movement he glimpsed near the ruined consoles. Whatever wants of rest snapped out of the hedgehog the minute he recognized who it was that still shared the tower with him, once again not being entirely surprised. Geoff would be damned, though, if he allowed Seven to get to the proverbial finish line first.
With a grunt of effort, the hedgehog rolled, feet scrambling as he tried to find a grip before jerking forward. He stumbled once as he gained balance, but soon, he was rushing right towards his intended goal with determination, eyes flicking to the figure that was Seven.

"N-nuh uh!" shouted Seven as he lunged to his feet, only to fall to one knee first, scramble, and then start limping after the hedgehog. One hand clutched across his abdomen while the other drew the machinepistol hanging from his thigh holster and leveled it at Geoff's back.
"This is my opportunity!" he shouted and squeezed the trigger.
The muzzle flashed and flared as a volley of pistol rounds were blurted out in fully-automatic fire at Geoff from behind. It was only a short burst before the weapon went dry, however, and clicked in the boy's hand.
He stumbled and fumbled a moment, ejecting his magazine and fishing around on his person for another. Most of them had been in his jacket, but he soon remembered he had one attached to his left leg, and went for it shakily.

A sharp cry of shocking pain and surprise erupted from Geoff as a few of the bullets hit their mark; one made a direct hit into his left shoulder, another just a bit lower on his back, the final grazing his thigh on the same side. The impacts were unexpected enough to where he stumbled immensely as his hands instinctively grabbed at the points of damage, his body flying forward...
...right into the awaiting blue grid of light, absolutely destroying Seven's intents.
Yet, the hedgehog didn't make much notice of this as he fell to one knee, shuddering from the shots. Blood could be seen dripping from the holes in his shirt and pants now, but it didn't seem to be enough to completely incapacitate him just yet. It really didn't stop him from looking over his shoulder, a fiery, hateful gaze piercing through the air straight towards the kid. A fist clenched on the ground out of reaction, and from this point, crystal began to form with a renewed contempt.

"Error — anomaly detected," said the computer in response to Geoff's crystal-generating transformation. As such, nothing was set in stone yet (no pun intended).
With a wobbly motion, Seven finally got the long magazine into the well, chambered the next round, and raised the weapon at Geoff again, grasping with both hands. It virtually buzzed with gunfire, assailing its target with a hail of bullets.

Much to Seven's misfortune, he would find all the direct shots simply denied by a new formation of crystal, the bullets digging into the rock harmlessly.
The usual armor fitted around the spiky figure seemed a bit... different this time around. Possibly from the lack of proper concentration due to the pain or growing fatigue, Geoff had only managed to conjure enough in time to cover a majority of his torso and limbs, leaving some of his joints, feet, and portions of his face oddly untouched. However, it all had been enough to deter the gunfire, and an amused smile peeked through the openings in the rock, the hedgehog, for the first time, being capable of mocking Seven in his own way. It was a pained smile, though.
"C'mon," sneered Geoff in a slightly rugged voice layered with malice. "That all you got, Seven? You better hope you have another bomb on ya, or else I'm not going to feel a thing."
He gradually stood, chuckling at the boy's expense, letting the exoskeleton of rock support some of his weight for a brief moment as he regained his posture. If there was at least one thing determined from the sight of him, he was ready for another round with Seven; crystal continued to grow, yet only formed a minimal amount of protection. It appeared the hedgehog was shooting for more speed than defense this time around.

The weapon soon ran dry and its chamber locked open.
Seven, seemingly fueled by Geoff's attempt to taunt him, and eased by the computer's unwillingness to recognize him with all that crystal attached, grinned horribly despite his setback and tossed his gun aside with confidence renewed. Out came his combat knife from its shoulder-rig sheathe, whispering a gentle metallic noise as its blade glinted into the yellow-tinged light.
"Bombs aren't as fun," said the battered, bruised, scratched, and singed boy, looking like the worst kind of sadistic mess of a human being.

If Geoff was at all perturbed by the blade's appearance, he really didn't show it. In fact, amongst the flaring urge to fight and the other mixed emotions he held towards the boy, he may have felt, deep down inside, a slight amount of pity for Seven. Based upon his appearance, he had reached the brink. Perhaps the kid's one last advantage would be just that, but Geoff wasn't too worried. In fact, he seemed overly confident as he stood there, staring down his opponent. It wasn't as if he would allow that new, strangely directed, foreign feeling to restrain him now.
"Just you and me then," he stated, taking a few steps forward. "Not like I'd place money on you, though."
He smiled.
"And, for once, you can't run off."
Despite the hedgehog's forward movement, he stopped just short of the perimeter of the blue light, unwilling to allow even one inch of him to step outside of it. Although the risk involved with taking on Seven was much more minimal than usual, he wouldn't allow himself to be tricked out of the seat of power now available to either of them.
In the end, Seven would have to bring the fight to Geoff.

Out of gadgets, out of ammo, out of luck — Seven had somebody who wasn't going to fall for it, and nothing to make him fall with except a combat knife.
The boy shifted his footing and took shallow, hesitant breaths. He swept his hair back with his free hand, shook his head, and, with resolve hardened, charged and made a stab at any open spot he could find. It was a short sprint, more a hard lunge, or a long jump, the best he could muster under his present condition, and nothing to scoff at. However, truly, he was not fresh, and nowhere near his usual agility.

The green, armored hedgehog held his ground, his body in a wide stance as he allowed Seven to approach. His fingers twitched, his muscles tensed and his back pulsed in pain, but he refused to move an inch. The finality of it all was enough to keep his mind determined and ready to retaliate.
Seven was only feet away now.
A hand shot out from Geoff, intending to grasp onto the arm that wielded the knife on Seven. A split second later, one foot slammed forward, channeling the forward momentum into a ruthless, overhead swing lead by a clenched, stoney fist. If Seven was incapable to react, he would find the crystallized limb hammering down onto his skull.

That ended it pretty quickly, to be frank. Seven buckled outward from the kick, was nailed directly in the head by the swing, and slammed the ground with a bounce such that his previous forward momentum was fully broken and he actually flopped and tumbled right back out of the circle like a rag doll.
All that was left was for Geoff to drop his guard (so as to no longer confuse the sensors) and advance to emperor-hood.

Geoff stood there for a moment, taking a deep breath through his nose, staring down at the limp form of Seven as if expecting more.
But none came, and the hedgehog relaxed, his left side slumping a bit as the pain became more evident to him. His face scrunched up into a light agony before he managed to retain a more blank, tired looking expression. Slowly, he purposefully took one or two steps back, encasing his body completely in the circle awaiting to scan. Bit by bit, his crystal crumbled off his body without much of a show.
Soon, a pile of rock formed around his feet, Geoff kicking the debris away absentmindedly as he awaited for whatever process intended to occur around him.

There was a whir; the lights danced. Just like that, the deed was done.
"Biometric analysis complete."
...
"What is your command?"

Geoff stared blankly towards the direction the voice had uttered from.
So, here he was, commander of a vessel — the entire world, in fact — whose functions he didn't fully understand and lacking any previous contemplation on how to go forward with this new matter. The hedgehog was foreign to being at the controls of any drastic situation before this point, and now he possibly had every sort of command at his fingerprints. It was nearly overwhelming, knowing the responsibility he now held.
A drawn out sigh escaped him as he paced side to side slowly, flinching at the feel of his wounds. Blasted things would be a major annoyance unless they were brought to attention soon, but really, the new matters at hand held a greater importance over his well being.
"...well, what are my options here?"
He needed a stepping off point, it seemed.

"All possible options cannot be listed," replied the computer, a sort of artificial confusion in its voice. "Did you mean to ask for a list of relevant suggestions?"
