It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

"Maybe."
Rouge looked up, and around. The red lighting seemed to have flattened her personality out. as she looked up at the ceiling, she seemed almost serious, the habitual smile that lined her face had vanished, leaving behind only a hint of tension at the corners of her mouth.
"I'll be watching," she said, and vanished into the cavernous ceiling with a whoomp, and a flash of wings.

Whether or not he knew why it was happening, Rock knew what was happening, and that it was time to go.
"Visit's over," sputtered Rock under his breath. He headed for the door—curiously, he did so without another word to Coop. Unconcerned about the possibility of the bird escaping? Seemed like it. He speed-walked past the others; the fwip and shink of a handgun unholstering in his left hand and a knife unsheathing in his right punctuated his exit.
The broad, open, cavernous area around Coop's cell was the solitary confinement wing, of which the bird was the only resident, for the time being. That meant markedly little resistance as they made their way across the large catwalk, back toward the tunnel junction from before—the one with six doors, and... a whole lot of GUN hunters. They were inactive before. That was not going to continue to be the case.

Coop had vanished from the cell at the instant the lights went out. He would be found at the exit of the solitary confinement wing, staring into the hub area where the hunters were beginning to whir and gronk aggressively.
As the group approached him, he whirled around and jabbed a finger at them.
"You," he hissed, "are you going to stop me?"

Rock stopped, lowered his weapons, and glanced back at the others. His brows were raised, his head tilted, and a bitter kind of smile suppressed.
"I dunno," he replied, then consulted the crew. "I mean—is anybody here actually mad at this guy for blowin' up a GUN base? In retrospect?"

Jam had opened her mouth to reply to the bat, but found herself cut off by the sudden break-out of Coop and company's little pow-wow, as notified by the immense mass of fowl suddenly strolling on past. Given the girl's expression before and after, Rouge hadn't missed anything productive. With a succinct shrug of her brows to suffice for a proper response, she spun on her heel, falling in line after Rock, and pulling out her own pistol in an unfortunately timed monkey-see-monkey-do spectacle. She looked at it dubiously for a split second, before the differently uniformed primate posed his probably rhetorical question to the party, drawing her attention first to him, and then to Coop.
Jam tepidly raised a hand.
"The GUN base, I won' miss, but I wasn't real cool with the part where he like... buried us alive in rubble."

The finger swivelled abruptly to point at Jam's nose.
"You," he said, "no-one made you come after me, did they?"
Coop pointed his finger over to Rock, staring down his arm like a gunsight.
"Did you?" He asked, before abandoning the finger and turning back to the room where the Hunters stood.
"You did what you had to do and I did what I had to do," he said, darkly, "that building was going down one way or another, and don't act like you wouldn't have done the exact same thing."

"Ahah. Yeah, I get it. That's cute," Jam sniffed indifferently, rolling her eyes, followed by her head on her shoulders.
"Well, I ain't stoppin' you."

"Fine," Coop replied. He drew behind the corner of the doorway, out of sight of the robots.
"Hurry up."

Coop took cover just in time. The Hunters on the other side of the open doorway were approaching. GUN had upgraded their Hunter AI, however; rather than just standing there and firing shots, the awkward looking robots overcame their slow, cumbersome mobility by utilizing cover in exactly the same way Coop did; right on the other side of the wall from the eagle, a Hunter hid, only poking its arm around to aim its beam rifle and open fire. Another Hunter on the other side mirrored this action, while through the center of the wide doorway approached a pair of Shield Hunters, forming an impassable barrier.
The Hunter blasts singed and marred the floor wherever they hit, dealing small, fiery concussive blasts to the environment, and... well, the people in it, ideally.
Even if they managed to somehow disable the Shield Hunters, there waited another two immediately behind them, bright red shields held at ready.

Without any more time to to talk things over with Coop, Rock sufficed to assume that there was a crude, temporary alliance in play. And, that would have to do, because no sooner than the big bird ducked around the corner, blazing green beams started flying the group's way.
The primate took note of available cover (two support pillars, one on either side of the broad walkway) and shot to the left one like a blur. Top speed he wasn't known for, but mobility and acceleration were there in spades. He stood with his back to the steel beam, pistol raised in his left hand. Though it may have been futile, he tested the waters by leaning around and firing a volley of vaguely aimed suppressive fire.
The small Capsule Trooper pistol easily packed as much kick as the Hunter's rifles, owing to its esoteric and advanced technology, its shots bursting violently against the shields and rattling them around. As predicted, though, only cosmetic damage was done.
"Gotta break through," he half-yelled over the din. He looked in the hedgehog's direction, wherever he'd gone (perhaps expectantly).

Sheffer had gladly followed their white monkey leader through the darkened halls in the direction they had entered, trying to work off his anger with some aggressive walking, calming himself with the fact there were no other prisoners on this level besides Coop. Speaking of the bomber bird, he was mildly surprised no aggression was to be made between them and the eagle... and in all honesty, he preferred it that way. One thing to have a bunch of GUN robots down their throats, another for a guy twice his size throwing punches.
Yet thoughts were now overthrown by the assault of the robots, having leaped back from the oncoming fire to one of the pillars, having not realized they were to be attacked so soon before he could actually find cover. Falling back some away from the new guards at the doorway, the hedgehog immediately fell into his familiar defense mode; crystal materialized instantaneously from every limb, shooting across his military uniform, and soon a standing hulk of rock stood in the hall.
Just before his mouth was covered by the substance, they could hear him yell, "I'm on it, I'm on it...!"
Exceeding with a bit more confidence with his layer of protective crystal, the rock-hog slipped around the corner, a boulder now charging down the hall straight to the first line of Hunters. It was like a bowling ball shooting down the alley to the pins... or at least that's the result Sheffer hoped for as one arm began to form what appeared to be a blunt, jagged spear of a limb. With all the strength his rocky form could muster, he threw the arm forward as he drew close, aiming at the direct center of one of the Hunter's shields.

The stone struck the shield and dented it considerably, even pierced through a little at the very center, but the thing was honestly like a big, solid metal coffin being held by a huge robot. Chances were that it could shatter a fragile formation like the sharpened stone spear if much more force was applied, especially since the other machines behind the first row of Shield Hunters held them up, and kept them from falling backwards more than a couple feet.
Still, Sheffer was on the right track using himself as a battering ram. He just needed more oomph.

A concussive blast whizzing dangerously close by Ace's head was the first sign he got that finding cover might be a good idea. With an abruptly blurted "Woah!", an inelegant twirl, and a base-stealing slide behind the nearest cover available, he ended up with his back planted against the pillar, suddenly too busy to question or complain about the jailbreak scenario thrust upon them. Though he was quick to draw his firearm, when he saw the null effects of Rock's blaster, he was almost as quick to shake his head at himself for even considering its use in the first place, and it was hastily put away.
And he had just started chargin' up the cards he'd whipped out, when he saw the hedgehog cover himself in green rock and make himself useful. That was enough, it seemed, to make him pause, look thoroughly baffled, and add a quick "Huh". It seemed like his little crystal problem from before had sorted itself out. Maybe he'd work out as living cover?

Frustrated with his lack of power, Sheffer fell back a few feet, the arm that had made impact covered in cracks. It quickly regenerated itself though, the hedgehog's mind now racing. He managed to put a dent in the defenses, but he lacked the strength to bust all the way through... something he could easily replace with velocity.
Soon the golem that was the hedgehog became a spinning orb of crystal. Sparks flew as energy was built up, rock grinding into the floor below. A high pitched whirring sound filled the hall. Everything was a blur for him, as was his own body. Finally, he shot forward, bouncing off the floor some as the wrecking ball of a hedgehog launched himself at a point directly between the two Hunters' shields.
Hopefully this would be enough of an oomph.

Shield or no shield, Jam was never one to stand around getting shot at for kicks and giggles, so she was among the first to pick a pillar (not Rock's, surprisingly,) and dive. And while she was more than aware of the pitiful futility of it, her pistol peeked around its cover, and with more resistance than she'd been prepared for, pulled the trigger, firing a single, impotent shot. When the hardened hedgehog's initial assault yielded less than encouraging results, she groaned internally, and rehosltered the firearm that, for all its effectiveness, might as well have been a costume prop.
"I'm open to suggestions!" she yelled back, over the wall of huge clanking chassis and gunfire.
