Latika's words were like a well placed hit of pickaxe, managing to crack open a somewhat rare smile on the crystal-infused hedgehog.

"You have a nice perspective there," he answered. "It's just sorta hard to just shrug it all off, I guess. Kind of a relentless sense of responsibility... but I'm trying to push it back."

He let out a long sigh, perhaps in an attempt to relax and take her suggestion for granted.

"So... thanks."

There was at least genuine appreciation in those words.

Vade was surprised that the wolverine didn't immediatly deliver him a pounding or left the bench as he arrived, but shrugged as he reached into his bag of crisps, taking a handful, before throwing them into his gaping mouth, munching them down loud enough to bother anyone who couldn't stand behaviour like Vade's.

Soon, Vade turned his gaze onto the amphibious shark, his eyes locking on the fish taco, raising an eyebrow. Without even thinking about wether or not he was interrupting a conversation, Vade spoke up to the shark boy. "Hey! Those fish tacos any good?" He smiled at the shark, while loading another handful of crisps into his maw.

Jack sighed a bit when Ivan finally put the weapon away and wondered off. It was only a matter of time before he got himself thrown out of the board walk, but for now things seemed quiet enough. She turned around she realized that most of the group had gathered. Seeing that Geoff was speaking with the large hog and the slow loris she let him be in favor of chatting up the agent she wasn't able to do so with earlier.

"Howdy, Agent Gardyner." She said as she stepped in front of him. "I was wonderin' a few things. If ya don't mind." So long as he didn't outright ignore her or something, she went ahead and spilled what'd been bothering her.

"I know all this has somethin' to do with Nordens' missin' mirror, but what's GUN care 'bout that? Ain't there another dance partner ya SHOULD be worryin' about?"

She didn't say it, but she certainly did imply that there was a break down in logic for GUN to divert what resources it had on things that weren't Chimera or Eggman.

Admin edit: Posts of this brevity are not passable at all for a character's first appearance. While single-line responses may be appropriate in situations where characters are having a rapid back-and-forth conversation, you just pitched in your character with a single sentence and a shout, and no description of what was happening at all. You should be able to tell by looking at all the other posts in this thread that this is not how we do things here.

We would have just deleted your post, but another player already politely acknowledged it in his own post, so to do so would affect his adversely. As such, your post will remain here, but you have been demoted to Beginner Member status, which means any further RP posts you make will need to be screened by a moderator first.

Ivan had a fresh bottle of booze in hand and was heading down the boardwalk when suddenly:

"LOOK OUT!!!"

He perked up and turned to see what looked like a blur of black and white, but instead of getting out of the way like most people did, he stuck his arm out in it's path. The result was simple; it'd probably hit the individual riding on his EX Gear. This would probably cause him to stop while his EX Gear continued moving, effectively closelining him if he didn't react in time.

Was this a malicious attack? No, not at all. Ivan would do the same thing to his own kids if they were speeding around like that.

Pax seemed surprised at the sudden greeting. It seemed he didn't notice jack approaching him, so he jumped slightly when she came to say howdy. He didn't seem too bothered, though he did seem a little too concerned about the safety of his coffee cup.

The agent nodded as she asked her questions, and stood there looking thoughtful for a moment. Clearing this throat, he began to explain as clearly and eloquently as he felt he was expected to, "Well, Miss...uh... Jack," he fumbled with her name, "I assure you that the vast majority of GUN's resources are being put to use against--er, for handling the other...issues that have cropped up. But we can't ignore the smaller issues either. Cape Norden contacted us for assistance, and in turn, they sent me. Usually they'd send a team to handle things like the theft of national treasures." Explaining it all brought a small but confident smile to the dog's face. His tone when he spoke of GUN almost sounded like bragging.

Paxton took a gulp of his hot coffee, which was followed by a refreshed, content sigh. "Truth is, they think that just one field agent--myself--is enough. Everyone else is busy working on the...well...you know." Ending his answer on a sheepish note, the agent seemed a bit fidgety, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand while sipping from his brown paper cup.

"Not forget," replied Latika with a brisk shake of her head (and a pushy, but wordless offer of aforementioned junk food, as she jostled the open bag in sharing range).

"Not push back accountability, either; no reason for learning and growing from that reaction. Only... how to say...? Don't let weight of responsibility make living too somber, or else it defeats purpose. Fight when you need fight; live when you can live. But brooding never benefit anyone."

The loris' reciprocated smile suddenly faltered, as if realizing all at once how very opinionated she had been. Sheepishly, her neck retreated into her shoulders, and she dipped her head in an apologetic bow, explaining somewhat meekly,

"Sorry. I... have problem with excess of talking."

Casey just stood there with his eyebrows up. He glanced back and forth between Latika and Geoff, and ultimately just shrugged. "Well," blurted the pig, as if to digress, but without knowing where to go. "... Well."

He sniffed once, for the sake of a filler noise.

"Can't say I ever thought much about that kinda heavy stuff," he finally admitted, running his hand across the top of his blue-haired head. "Just work'n play for me. Not sure if that's good or bad, though..."

Geoff's internal strife and Latika's little zen-moment left him feeling doubtful of his livin' philosophies. Poor Casey.

Agent Gardyner was quick with the press release sort of response to the griffins inquiry. She shuffled a bit, removing her hat and ruffling a hand through her hair as she listened, although not really hanging on his every word.

"Dandy." She said, "Well do ya know anything about the mirror? I would hate ta run into somethin' dangerous completely unprepared fer it."

Jack was a sheriff for years, she knew as well as anyone that you couldn't tell the press or the public everything. People tend to panic easily, and the press loved to spin a good story. But what he was willing to disclose might tell her more about who this agent was, and for now she'd take that much.

"Maybe you've got it for the best," mentioned Geoff to the boar with an indifferent shrug, a hand reaching into the offered bag from Latika. "Free mind and all that."

He popped a couple of the kernels into his mouth.

"And a lot of people talk, ya know," he said, suddenly acknowledging the loris again, a hint of a grin tugging at his lips. "But not all of 'em have good advice. Consider yourself lucky."

It was the closest thing to a compliment the hedgehog had given in days, but he at least sounded genuine.

That was all Casey had to say for the moment, it seemed. He just crossed his arms (or his arm and his gun, anyway), and stood there. It wasn't to say he was bored or without anything to say, however; the gears were turning, and he kept on glancing at Geoff for whatever reason. Given enough time, if the silence persisted, he'd soon posit a question.

"You guys said things didn't go so well when you were up on that spaceship, didn'tcha?"

"That's puttin' it lightly," said the hedgehog in a tone that didn't seem all too thrilled to be venturing into this particular conversation. He trudged forward with it anyway. "Eggman might not be runnin' the show anymore, but it doesn't mean I'm comfortable with who's behind the wheel now."

He glanced over to Casey before peering up to the night sky, eyes directed to unseen battleships.

"Sort of a whole different can of worms than the mess we're in now."

Mako cast a look at the coyote, and kind of grinned sheepishly; he shook the one in his hand. "This is my fourth. That's as good a recommendation as anything. One'a you guys can have it if you want."

He had actually not noticed the coyote at the docks.

He had no idea who he was talking to.

He looked back to Tyra, and cleared his throat. "What I meant to say, was-- you came along with us on the pirate-ship ride from the other side of the world, and... I donno, I just realized I had no freakin' clue... - I mean... uh." Pause. "Lemme try that again."

Mako may or may not have been fearing that he'd be punched in the face for his fantastic verbal flubbery.

"Who even are you?"

"Well, ah, I'm not totally sure what it can do; I wasn't really informed of it," Gardyner admitted with a hint of discomfort, "but it doesn't seem like it's too dangerous--I mean, the kind of dangerous that...shoots lasers or explodes..."

He cleared his throat and looked to the side for a bit, thinking about how to continue before turning back to Jack. "I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'm more worried about the people who have it right now. Even if the artifact did nothing at all, it's still my mission to retrieve it, after all. We're trained to focus on certain danger over possible danger... But when we do get our hands on the thing, we should still be careful with it."

Mako's stuttering did earn a small glare of impatience, but Tyra remained seated. When he asked, she leaned back in her seat, reclining against the bench. Flatly, she answered, "My name's Tyra. The guys who took your friend? They also got a friend of mine. I'm lookin' for mine while you look for yours. Got it?"
