Sonic Spindash RP is closed.

Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.

It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

Coop turned around.

“Look,” he said, approaching at a slow, measured saunter, his face wooden, “you’re smart and you know things. You get it, I get it—you have...”

He held out his hands, palms open, as if handing the kid an invisible sandwich, albeit a sandwich made of carefully tempered loathing.

“leverage or whatever. Just ignoring for a second that the last time I saw you before all this I was flying off to save a million people from a bomb you set up to sink half an island—and, you know, just pretending you don’t want to wipe out all of us—the scalies and the spikies—and set up the kingdom of human beings or whatever insane agenda you had baked into your brain, back when GUN cooked you up, ok—just pretending, you know, that all this isn’t true—”

He stopped in front of Seven and stared at the kid with an empty, impassive face.

“What do you actually want us to do?"

Seven considered what Coop had said with a smile that was just a little too broad. There was silence for several seconds after the eagle's approach, then finally, the boy straightened his posture, stood normally again, and spoke.

"I want you to do what I can't: be three places at once."

He sighed and rolled his bright, orangish eyes. "As much as I hate admitting it, you're the only people I can trust anymore. I'm not with GUN anymore. GUN doesn't even exist. I'm not with anyone anymore, and, no, I don't have some kind of pro-humanity agenda, either. I realize now that to class myself among humans would be to stoop rather low for what I truly am—whatever that may be."

Well, his ego was still intact. He folded his hands behind his back and stood like some sort of commanding officer.

"And I realize that you people, as well-intentioned as you are, aren't accomplishing squat. Eggman already announced the construction of a new lab four times bigger than the one you just helped me destroy."

(Wait. They weren't accomplishing anything, but he was the one who destroyed it?)

"You see, I'm here to dismantle Dr. Eggman for good. I have everything I need except enough able hands. I've managed to flash an image of Eggmanland's command center computer operating system, and I've discovered that, using a sort of virus I've designed, it'd be possible to corrupt its user authentication in such a way it would no longer recognize Dr. Eggman as its sole authorized user. It would just require a coordinated effort to successfully get this virus into the system undetected."

His brows raised expectantly.

"This means pulling control of Eggman's whole empire out from under him. Robots. Ships. Facilities. Everything. Tell me if I've gotten your interest yet, really."

The way he grinned so smugly could have deterred even the most determined rebel, but there it was on the table: If he was telling the truth, it was a way to stop Eggman.

Rodolf's tail flicked once, like that of... well, an irritated horse. Go figure.

"And the chances that this is a ruse are?"

So sue him, he wasn't leaping at the chance to collaborate with Seven.
... regardless, if one were particularly optimistic, they could almost interpret that statement as him assuming that there was a chance, however minute, that the be-trenchcoated individual was telling the truth.
It was certainly minute.

Mako looked uncertain for a moment, and sighed deeply. "Well, I wouldn't underestimate el wakko's," and Mako indicated Seven, "ability to screw up a computer system." His mind crept back to the catalyst for their being sent off to the other side of the globe, not too wholly long ago.

His eyelids drooped.

"... we're hosed either way, aren't we?" he remarked in a low, quiet voice.

Coop’s gaze flickered. After a second or two he spoke.

“I’m interested,” he said, blandly.

It was hard to not find oneself just a little discouraged by the overwhelming lack of progress made. For a brief recap, since acquiring their new recruits, they had:

• Almost been captured in an Eggman-operated medical facility
• Almost been crushed in a massive Eggman garbage compactor
• Almost been blown up in the actually useful destruction of a processing facility (which, apparently, just saved Eggman the work of demolishing for an even bigger one)
• And finally, brought down a rebel stronghold, and, if not completely burning it to the ground, made it completely unusable

While it was certainly true that they'd not accomplished much worth mention back when their resistance force consisted of only her and the jackal, they had at least not been making negative progress. Needless to say, Seven's presence (and the illumination to the prior that it brought) was both salt in the wound and a chance at redemption. No one else seemed very pleased with it, or his plan, but without so much as a glance to any of her "team mates," Tabitha, previously silent and withdrawn, stepped forward, looking the human solemnly in the face with her arms crossed tightly over her stomach, as she said,

"I'm in."

Geoff was in a bit of an inner conflict, two opinions raging against each other. On one side, the prospect of bringing down the doctor's expansive empire was absolutely tempting, but on the other was the distaste of having to cooperate with the one adolescent on the whole planet he openly despised. It was silent battle that left him silent for a moment.

He watched as some of the others agreed without much explanation, and the hedgehog couldn't blame him. He was on the verge of following their lead, but a single, nagging thought rose from his indecisive mind. After some more consideration, he finally spoke.

"I'm up for it," he said hollowly. "But one thing."

He took a step forward, staring accusingly down at the kid.

"You said that the virus won't make Eggman the only user. Who says that you just won't step right on in and start pulling the strings for your own intentions, eh?"

Seven appeared pleased with the response. Somehow, he appeared even more pleased with the question.

"'Who says' indeed, huh?" he answered, still smirking that smug, punchable smirk. "I don't think you have much of an option except to trust me. I could still take my offer to somebody else, like, say... Rock, maybe?"

It was physically impossible for a living thing to look more self-satisfied than Seven did at that moment. He let the pseudo-threat sink in for a moment.

A long breath escaped Geoff's nose then, his eyes narrowing. His hands clenched once, twice, reconsidering his decision.

"Like he or his partner in crime wouldn't give you the same warm welcome?" he questioned, and suddenly, he showed a smirk. "Hell, from what I heard, Jam already smacked around your sorry ass once. You go to them, they'd have a much tighter leash on you than us."

The hedgehog let out a laugh, amused by his conclusion. The seriousness fell back into place only a second afterward, though, Geoff returning to the point.

"But yeah, not many options at all, are there?" He seemed displeased by the thought. "I'll tag along with your little plan, but the minute I see you crossing the line, I'm done."

"I can't help but think maybe I touched on a nerve," whispered Seven thoughtfully (but plenty audibly), grinning as if actively feeding off of Geoff's reaction. He seemed to snicker a little, but digressed, shaking it off with a literal shake of his head. "But, no, no, y'know what? Since I'd like to show you what a reasonable guy I am, I'll be the nice one, here, and actually let you inspect my code yourselves." He then produced a small, black flash drive from his pocket and gave it an underhanded toss in Geoff's direction. What happened the last time they plugged in a flash drive of his they found...?

"I'm keeping the insertion method and access point locations a secret until go-time, though, so don't think you'll be able to cut me out of the plan."

"Okay. So, Mr. ... Person."

Tabitha's interjection came at a clear volume, despite the obvious uncertainty her words were mired in, seeming -- more than anything else -- to want to put a stop to any more pointless whinging about whether or not the kid could be trusted (And really, if he couldn't, would he really come out and say it?). She still hung back, momentarily eying the flash drive dubiously as her fingers drummed against her biceps.

"Is that to say that we don't get to know what three places you need to be in simultaneously until we're to be there?"

"I say we just do it," spoke Ember with a shrug.

"We're pretty sunk either way. If shorty thinks he can take it down we can at least try. Its better than just sitting here."

Giving a rather cheerful smile to the human, she finished up with, "I'm in!"

"Correct," replied Seven to Tabitha. Ember's comment, however, was only regarded with a glance—an unimpressed, unenthused downward one directed at the more diminutive, but uppity bird. (After all, Seven was taller than her. And Rodolf. And Mako. Actually, he was bigger than pretty much everyone there except Coop, Geoff, and Ace, if only on account of being at least somewhat human.)

"In the meantime, get supplies and equip yourselves," he advised, then suddenly turned and lunged in one great whoosh and flutter of longcoat to the concrete barrier that separated their parking garage level from the open air above the city streets. He balanced atop it effortlessly, and used it as an opportunity to glance dramatically over his shoulder.

Shades on. Grin on.

"I'll be in touch."

He stepped off the building and vanished from view.

Coop watched him go, silently.

“We have to kill him,” he said, eventually.

“If he isn’t planning on using this virus to personally screw over half the world, then—“

“You know what? I don’t even know then what. He’s obviously not doing us any favours, and I don’t want to wait and see what he’s going to come up with next.”

“We have to have a plan, though. He’s been thinking about this, that’s why he keeps getting the jump on us. We have to be ready for him the next time he does. We can’t let him keep pulling us around on a string like this, but... for now, he have to get out of here. Let’s... let’s get outta here. We gotta get back to the desert. The fox kid, Tails. He’ll know what to do with this chip, and he’ll probably know what to do with that stuff.”

He gestured to the box of Mystic Belts, then looked around the skyline outside the parking garage. In the distance, the pumpkins of pumpkin hill stretched up into the sky like ragged toothpick teeth, biting the horizon. Behind them, the marble mountain range leaned away into an early evening mist.

“That way,” he said.

“Can anyone think of a way to get out without being noticed?"

"Maybe if we can figure out what stinking button you pressed to go all invisible-eagle on us," suggested Geoff, glancing down at the belt he still wore. "But I'd rather not have, like, my atoms split into half. Or vaporized. Or just, ya know, killed in general."

He huffed, holding the belt in his hands as he examined it all over again. The glowing buttons were indifferent to his moving hands and watchful eyes, and he made sure not to go accidentally smacking one of them in the process. He moved as if to unbuckle the thing now, somewhat wanting to rid himself of the device, but he paused, his hands on the connected ends of the belt. After some silent consideration, he briefly shrugged, letting his arms fall to his sides, the belt still secured around his waist. Maybe it would have some actual use at some point.

"Anyway, they probably have that..." He nodded to their recent escape vehicle. "...already on the things-to-chase list. We might just have to go on foot. Or steal another car. Either way."

“Take that piece of crap off,” Coop said, surly to a tee.

“Do you want to see what happens to you when that thing goes off while we’re driving down a highway?"
