It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

At least one corridor looked like a good escape route to the jackal, and he darted for it. No sooner than he got within twenty feet of it did it become a rather uninviting-looking path, however; gratuitous, violently-tumbling piles of debris all but obliterated the steel door, crushing it inward, and irreparably jamming and clogging the potential exit. He braked hard, lost his footing, and ended up skidding on his hind quarters and back for a few uncomfortable feet across the slick concrete floor before picking himself up again.
Harvesters were already taking up positions at other ground-level exits, blockading them with their bodies. Options were slim. Midian began looking above.
"Up there!" he shouted over the ruckus, pointing overhead. A few ladders ran high up nearby support structures, leading to what looked like maintenance access in the ceiling.
"Might be a way out, but forget it with—"
He was cut off by the pressing need to lunge back into a run to avoid getting turned into paste by another hunk of disembodied robot being fired at him. His point was made clear enough, though. Try climbing a ladder with that thing still shooting.

One would think that given the rarity of being found in a situation, where, at its heart, all she really needed to do was run, Tabitha would be a lot more confident; maybe even cool.
"...eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!"
This was lamentably not the case.
To her credit, however, she was doing a remarkable job of staying mobile, and not getting hit, via all manner of slick acrobatic feats, like vaulting over disembodied airborne torsos, sliding under sailing metal arms, and executing needlessly flashy-looking 360° wall kicks, all in the name of evasion. Yet her success in not becoming a segment on Eggman's Funniest Surveillance Videos was only half the battle, and the free-running feline knew that for better or for worse, this would have to end, and soon.
When at last, the mathematics of finite quantity necessitated a brief break for concessions and re-ammunition, the striped sprinter veered hard up onto a wall just long enough to kick hard off of it, and straight at the face of the benozzled menace, cans a-blazing. -- Cans? Cans. Tabby opened up with both aerosol spray cans, delivering an eyeful each of fat-tipped, opaque, homemade paint in Licorice Black and Jungle Green, before springing off of its would-be schnozz, and somersaulting lithely back across the pit.

"Crap, crap, crap, crap...!" Ace had apparently made something of a mantra for himself which, if nothing else, reminded him that he'd be short a torso if he ever considered not running. Maybe if his name was Sonic, Ace would've had an easier time circle-strafing around the vicious cylinder's aim. As it was, he could feel the vibrations of its makeshift ammunition striking the ground behind his heels.
He shifted glances between the springy feline, the felled Geoff, the upper floor pointed out by Midian, and the robot itself. There wasn't much time to do much of anything, but he saw Tabitha making her move. Gritting his teeth, he dashed in the direction of the closest ladder he could find, and decided to push his luck. He wanted that higher ground. So with the hopes the other cat could distract it well enough, he bounded to the highest step of the ladder he could (a good distance, actually, roughly half way up), caught himself with a heavy CLUNK, looked behind him to make sure he wasn't dead yet, and started climbing.

With its two largest sensors—its eyes—covered in paint, the machine roared and spun, slowly revolving on its torso to try and gain some peripheral vision on its attackers. Its crown of heavy steel turrets revolving aimlessly as it fired, the machine peppered the walls, the floors, the ceiling, everything with a hail of randomly launched slugs of metal, in an effort to hit a target it could no longer properly get a bearing on.

Whichever harvester bot managed to reach the hedgehog first only succeeded with creating a close relationship with a spiked fist. Geoff, arm throbbing and urgency flaring as he found himself being left behind by his companions, had managed to push back onto his feet after a brief moment of spinning confusion. Damn had that hurt.
Shuffling off as he tried to regain his bearings, he began to outrun the other robots whose attention was directed towards his quilled form. Of course, they weren't the main threat, the tsunami of bent metal and various robotic limbs and other such body parts still falling from the heavens around him. Now it was simply a mad dash to regain the lost ground from his little mishap. Jerking and weaving, even rolling at times to avoid the projectiles, the hedgehog made progress towards the ladders. He barely sacrificed a glance towards Tabitha's bold multicolored paint attack as he leaped onto the ladder, scrambling up.
Arms flailed and feet slipped at times out of the panic of escaping the flying metal all about the room, but he was making progress..

Coop collided with the bottom of the ladder with a rickety crash. He groaned. The shape of a gun housing had been stamped into the muscle behind his shoulder. The broken impression was slowly filling in, with the grim consistency of molasses.
Directly behind the hedgehog, he grabbed a few rungs up with his good arm and pulled himself up in a big arc. He grabbed gingerly onto the ladder with his injured arm, and then reached up with a huge reach with his good arm, again, and hauled himself up.
Groan, rinse, repeat.

Midian flung himself through the air at the same ladder as Ace, in much the same manner, trying to clear as much of it as he could before he started climbing.
*Clank!*
He started scaling rapidly. Rather than grasping at the rungs with his hands, they clung to the sides of the ladder, sliding briskly up in quick alternation, one then the other, while his feet kicked off of only every third rung. In short, the lanky jackal was consuming the ladder, and was right below Ace in a matter of seconds.
And then there was a crash.
The ladder had been severed just narrowly under him, blasted by a hunk of debris. The shake caused him to stop a second, clinging so as to not fall as the ladder flexed. He continued upward.
Another crash. The support the ladder was affixed to was hit. The huge robot, though unable to aim accurately, must have been homing in on the one target it had been able to successfully hit, making slight adjustments. Midian climbed faster.
A third crash—this one very nearly either took out either Ace's feet or Midian's head. The ladder was torn like a piece of paper between the two, and Midian slid down a good five rungs as a result of the quake of impact and the falling debris raining on his head. He clung to a rung by a single hand, limbs flailing outward as his severed segment of the ladder leaned out from the pillar. He gritted his teeth and regained his grip, but it didn't change the fact that he now had a huge gap between himself and the rest of the ladder above.
An ear-busting bass pounding resounded through the huge chamber as the first of Seven's explosive charges detonated in a ball of flame some distance away, showering bits of glass and metal all the way to the party. A few seconds later, another followed.

Tabitha might have later seriously questioned the judiciousness of her decision to blind a giant, multi-directional pitching machine, but for the moment, she fully appreciated that there were better things to do. Like live. As robot slag flew about with an increase in hazard directly proportionate to the decrease in accuracy, not getting hit became less of a skill, and more random juking and weaving. Even still, all the random dodging and skill in the world couldn't have spared her the few nasty zings she took across the her left calf, tail, and the side of her face, which, to the cat's credit (or perhaps adrenaline's), didn't really slow her down.
She took hold of Geoff and Coop's a full three or four body lengths behind Geoff and Coop, but failed to close much of that distance before a rogue chassis flew their way. The chunk of metal struck just a few inches above and to the side of Tabby's hand; the force of which shook her loose, and dropped her several panicked yards before she could grab hold of a rung. Relentlessly, the attacks continued as another scrap of debris followed the first in rapid succession, cleanly obliterating the right side of the ladder, and leaving everything south of the impact hanging by a thread made ever more tenuous by the cat's frantic, scrambling ascent.
That was all before the bombs started going off.

Mako was, at least, not dead-- though there was a bit of flesh scraped off of his tail by sheer blunt force trauma, resulting in an unpleasant-looking injury on said appendage.
There were two criteria by which Mako judged which of the ladders to grab onto: 1. The closest available one, that was 2. As close to not-destroyed as possible And quickly thereafter (particularly, followed by the noise of explosions), those were abandoned and replaced with a "WHO CARES MOVE" ethic. That said, the shark made a haphazard dash at the first non-horribly-broken ladder he could get his hands on. and scrambled up this third ladder with surprising efficiency. As they say, fear lends the feet wings-- though honestly, the hapless fish simply seemed to have lost any sense of fear, and in its stead was a simple survival instinct. No sooner had he managed to get one or two times his height up the ladder before much of it, too, got soundly ripped off by mechanical debris. He chanced a look down.
A little "Eep" escaped him before he redoubled his "oh god climb for your life efforts.
Rodolf was faring apparently okay, though the unicorn had to dart like a mad pinball in order to avoid being laid out flat by the haphazard spray of metal. He leapt onto the same ladder as the fish, having to take quite a jump indeed to reach. Hanging by one hand, he grabbed what had become the bottom rung of what remained, and with a concentrated, monumental effort, heaved himself so as to no longer hang like a flag in the wind.
"Fantastic," the be-horned ungulate remarked to himself, grunting as he ascended in attempts to do so as quickly as possible.

At the top of the ladder was a hatch, and through the hatch was a wide, low-ceilinged corridor which all the other service hatches opened into, and in this corridor, directly opposite each hatch the group’s members had emerged from, were several sets of rickety, punched-metal stairs—labeled “ROOF ACCESS” in large red letters—that each went up to a door. The doors had portholes in them, and beyond the glass was the blue sky. It was from one of these doors that Coop finally barged, squinting and grumbling and muttering incomprehensible epithets under his breath.
It was difficult to know what he expected to see. Perhaps he expected to see a row of robots, bristling with weapons and ready to unleash catastrophic disablement. Perhaps he expected to see a gentle, ethereal pony, gleaming the colour of fresh cornflowers in the sun. Whatever it was, he did not see it, and he stopped short with a suspicious look on his face.
He did see a massive fireball drifting up into the air in the distance. It was distant, but not distant enough to be comfortable; and it rose up slowly from the middle of the factory, curling as convection funnelled it into a thick, orange-red mushroom shape. The first explosive had gone off.
He stuck his head back down the stairway and looked into the hall for the rest of the group to emerge from their respective hatches.
“Where is everyone,” he yelled, “you have to get out here RIGHT NOW if you want to make it off this dump of a building without being blown into pieces."

Not even a second passed after the eagle's urgent words before a green blur came careening past him through the door, nearly shoving the bird out of the way. It was enough to maybe send a feather or two flying as the hedgehog skimmed past, letting the fresh air reinvigorate him as he looked around wildly. His eyes set on the mushroom cloud of fire, he backed up a bit while still glancing to the door he just exited.
He then noted it was only him and Coop up there, Geoff having expected a bit larger welcoming crowd.
His first instinct was to run like all hell from the inevitable chorus of explosions that were waiting below their feet, but on the other hand, he didn't want to just abandon the others. Geoff hadn't been particularly alert to the others' climbing conditions, too focused on escaping the metal barrage down below.
Slightly conflicted, he finally huffed and rushed back to the door Coop loomed by, looking past the large bird back into the hall, ready to spring forward and assist if needed, his foot tapping impatiently.

Even Ace didn't have anything smart to say about the state of things. Plain and simple, it was life and death, and death seemed to be way too easy an option. He couldn't even say 'woah' when he almost lost his feet along with a good chunk of the ladder below him. By some miracle, he'd remained almost untouched by the haphazard volley of nigh self-destructive spitfire, but he was far from okay. One look at the damage below him-- not to mention the jackal, teetering on the edge of certain doom made that very clear.
It was a short lived series of grunts and gasps that led to his ultimate maneuver; the serval willingly released his grip on the ladder for a whole five-rung drop that shot his heartrate up like an immodest drum machine before catching himself once more with one hand. The other reached down and as far out as he could to the deadlocked canine below him. "Midian!" he called out in a force, but didn't bother giving the rest of his unspoken instructions. They should have been clear enough.

Midian had climbed as high as he could again, but the next segment of ladder was well out of his reach. He looked around almost frantically for some other way. When Ace went and dangled himself off the end and offered a hand, though, it seemed like there was a chance.
Expressionless beyond blank survival-determination, he gripped what little remained of his ladder, bent his knees, and sprang. It was hard to jump from a position like that, especially straight vertically, and... he fell short just inches. He missed Ace's hand.
But he caught Ace's boot.
Wasting no time, he used his flimsy grip on the shoe to swing himself up and grasp Ace's hand, and from there, he pulled just a little higher to grasp the side of the ladder itself, still holding onto his rescuer's hand just in case his own climbing had cost him any footing or grip. As soon as Ace was able to get the ladder in both hands again, Midian went racing up it again, ready to get the heck out of there. No time to say "thanks" just yet.
Short of any other unforeseen catastrophes, they'd be hoofing it up the stairs to join their comrades on the roof soon enough.

"move it move it move it move it" Mako seemed really to be speaking to himself more than anything as he booked it onto the roof, nearly crashing straight into Geoff in the process. Only with a hop, a skip, and a stumble did he manage to avoid bodily impact, breathing heavily and not yet of the mind to take a look around.
The fish was in the middle of catching his breath when he was bumped past by his fellow on the ladder.
The unicorn skidded to a stop, and unlike his fishy companion, he did have the clarity of mind to take a look dead a head through his mass of partially-matted hair. He took a couple deep breaths, and let forth a sort of throaty growl.
"Well! This has gone well!"
Rodolf frowned, taking quick stock of those who had arrived on the roof thus far, and cast another look into the distance, seeming to be quietly judging the risk/gain factor of waiting or bailing. Always the enterprising one!

The explosions increased in intensity and frequency as the bombs detonated progressively closer to the party. Those standing atop the roof would begin to see the "horizon" of its structure simply... falling away. As if deflating, the very structure fell, crumbling and collapsing in a continuous wave toward their position. In seconds, unless they acted, the concrete floor they stood on would fall out from under them and they'd become but rather squishy and organic parts of the rubble. Worse yet for anyone who may have been left inside.
