It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

Coop had crashed into the garbage with a mildly disgusted sneer on his face. Silent at first, he extricated himself for the podgy, rancid mire that he had landed in, and gradually, picking over the trash entangling him with stoic resolution, moving upright.

Geoff spoke.

Coop’s face twisted up in some expression that might have been because of the stench, or because of what came out of his mouth in the next five seconds.

“Maybe the next time he pops up,” he addressed the hedgehog, "you can can do something besides standing around like the biggest, stiffest, greenest tool who ever managed to still not actually be a tree.”

“What is with you people?” he snarled.

Meanwhile, Midian picked himself up from his awkward, garbagey landing, looked at himself, and... didn't really do a thing. Didn't bother dusting himself off, acting grossed out, or trying to neaten himself in any way. Reason? They were still in the garbage. It'd probably only get worse before it got better. He just frowned and gazed off toward the ceiling in search of escape.

He opened his mouth to make an observation.

...

The jackal closed his mouth; paused; turned, looked all around, observing nothing but unscalable-looking walls; looked up again, squinted. His mouth hung open again for a second, as if on the verge of making some sort of suggestion... then he just donned a tight-lipped frown, sighed out his nose, and let his arms fall limp at his sides.

He had no earthly idea what to do.

As if rather jarringly coming out of a reverie, the gushing girl sheepishly cleared her throat at Geoff's play-chiding and (though it wasn't entirely directed at her) Coop's real-chiding. Though one would be hard-pressed to notice her flushed face beneath her pale fur, her embarrassment was readily apparent in other ways: Her head sunk into her shoulders, and her lips retreated between her teeth, while her ears pulled downward, and she hastily searched for some suitable distraction -- It was only then, with the smallest of starts, that the cat seemed to realize what they were standing in.

"This ...isn't where I expected that to go," she blurted dryly, suddenly forgetting her discomfort. Tabitha squinted about, looking much the same as the jackal, as she sought some means of exit, or at least a vague direction, but came up with dirty, empty hands, and a similar frown.

After a moment or two of putrid silence, filled only by the occasional gurgling and squelching of movement, a distressed huff echoed in the dankness.

"Well, this" She paused to reconsider her wording. And decided against it. "Stinks."

"Jus' breathe through your mouth," instructed the serval, standing himself up in the pile of mush, "And think of lavenders." He began scraping off the gunk and sludge from his jacket. Yes, he was still wading ankle-deep in the muck (and probably never needed a shower more in his entire adult life), but he wasn't about to give all that trash the victory of him just leaving it there. "And you," he directed at the largest of their party, "Can just cram it up your cloaca, unless you can find a way outta this mess before the walls start closing in on us."

Ace was genre savvy enough-- he'd seen this movie before.

He looked around around, scratched his head in concentrated agitation, uttered a hushed "crap..." and glanced behind at the jackal. "You sure we went down the right tube?"

"I believe we were... filtered," guessed Midian, who had his hand laid uselessly upon one of the slick-sided walls. He was looking for something, anything to climb, but there didn't seem to be anything.

Meanwhile, it soon became clear that there wasn't anywhere to climb to. The openings on the ceiling through which they had entered, and through which was their only hope of escape, closed. Ace's assumption proved almost right: it wasn't the walls, but the ceiling! Like a huge piston, the entire ceiling began to lower quickly toward them with a steady grinding noise.

There really wasn't any apparent way out. But there was a voice.

"It looks like you could use some help!" said a youthful, almost mocking-sounding voice. It was a voice that would be familiar to Coop, Ace, Geoff, and maybe Rodolf.

Down came the ceiling.

Ace narrowed his eyes to squinted slits. "Oh, God, damn it."

In came the voice.

Ace narrowed his eyes to squinted slits, tensed every muscle in his upper body, and for the first time since he'd dropped into the sewage, looked like he discovered a dead rat in his shirt. "Oh, God-- DAMN it!"

What...” he said, “the...

His face was a grisly, gaping, easter-island head of disbelieving unhappiness — a stone-carved effigy to how bad a day could get before it got better.

Standing in ankle-deep muck, clueless to where they were with the ceiling gradually making its slow descent down, Geoff really couldn't believe there luck could turn any worse.

But, ha ha, how dare he think otherwise. That just wasn't unfair enough for the hedgehog. Now he had to deal with this.

"Out of... everyone who could possibly..." he growled, his voice meandering off, fists clenching instinctively. "You'd think he could STAY DEAD."

Mako's eye began twitching.
A lot.

A whole lot.

He was not so much twitching his eye as he was involuntarily winking. And then...

"... AAAAAAAAAAAAA--"

"... oh, f#%*," Rodolf spat, his body tensing instinctively.

" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUGHHHHHHH!"
Needless to say, Mako was not thrilled about this development. In fact, he may even have been a bit unhappy with it. Who could have guessed?

The amplified voice continued on, apparently unable to hear their outrage. (Understandable, as it was unlikely the garbage pit was going to be lined with microphones.) "How fortunate you survived our last encounter," he declared, though it was hard to tell if he was being sarcastic. His voice just kind of... sounded like that. Perpetually. "Lucky for you, I did too!"

The ceiling began to grind more loudly as it slowed, a buzzer sounded, a bell rang, and red lights flashed. A dull, pre-recorded voice proclaimed,

"E m e r g e n c y  S t o p."

The ceiling halted about fifty feet over their heads, the noise ceased, and a large, square hatch opened above.

It was no surprise at this point. There stood Seven in all his sneering glory... except he had a little change in wardrobe. All black jumpsuit... black shoes, black belt, black gloves, black longcoat... and, of course, slim black sunglasses.

He was completely for real about it, too.

"You can thank me later," he declared. He nudged a secured coil of rope over the edge with his foot to give them something to climb.

It was amazing how rapidly and repeatedly the climate of the room ping-ponged back and forth between good and bad. Bad when they realized there was no way out. Worse when, as if deliberately comedically timed, the compactor sprung to life, inching its way downward to end theirs. Better, when a mysterious voice called down, saying something about help. But then, much to Tabitha's confusion, no one else seemed to think this was a good development. In fact, judging from the reactions of the other feline, the eagle, the hedgehog, the shark, and the unicorn, they might have been better off squaring with the ceiling. Perhaps naive to not catch the smarmy smugness of the tone to address them, the disheveled girl threw a cautiously hopeful smile along with a brief shrug at Midian, and crossed unhesitatingly toward the line.

She made it up quickly, all flow and grace, despite her appearance, and pulled herself to her feet, at last bothering to vainly attempt to pat the debris from her person.

"Could we thank you now?" she asked, beaming at the melodramatically dressed boy. "You're like the best thing I've seen all day."

"Well. Second best. Either way, we're super grateful."

Midian kind of... shared the sentiments of confusion, but at the same time, one could say that his Douchebagometer was tripping balls at the sound of their rescuer's voice, in conjunction with the others' reactions, so it was with slightly more trepidation that he scaled the wire behind Tabitha.

Mako stopped yelling around the time that Seven began speaking again at first, possibly out of lack of interest in completely throwing his voice out. His eyebrows raised up significantly when the crushing ceiling ground to a stop.
His eyebrows would have shot off his face when he actually saw him.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," the shark groaned. And then the rope dropped down. (He half expected it to explode or something-- he put nothing past the boy.) "Yep, we're doomed."

"Will you please cut that out?" Rodolf muttered at the fish, massaging his temples, even as he kept his eyes up at Seven himself.
To be perfectly honest, he too was half-expecting the rope to burst into flames, or something akin, even as he stepped forward to grab a hold and begin to scale after Midian.

Mako gave the unicorn a sort of 'are you nuts' look as he did, but with great trepidation and grumbling, followed suit as soon as Rodolf had ascended enough to give him the room to do so.

stared up the length of the rope at the kid.
