Sonic Spindash RP is closed.

Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.

It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

A look of relief washed over the hedgehog as the fox above agreed with Tabitha, but there was barely a glance upward from him before his attention homed in on the suited figures that he had only recently been separated from. Patiently he waited, fingers tapping idly against his thigh as he knelt there, and as Rock and Co. finally started to disappear into the truck, he clapped his hands together — albeit softly in order not to gather unneeded attention from noise — and stood, facing his current companions.

"And off they go," he said, maybe out of some relief. "Now... what use do we have here again? Watch and wait until someone emerges from the wreck?" He paused. "That probably wouldn't go unnoticed for long anyway. Not with how many robots they've got zooming around out there."

The ruddy blond cat shook her head, still maintaining a low profile.

"If they're leaving, it means they've gotten out anything worth finding. What we need to do is see if we can catch them in a less defensible position, ...if it's practical to do so, that is."

Her eyes roved around the group succinctly, wheels turning, and numbers crunching in her head, deciding preemptively who would come and who would return to base, before her sights settled back on the primates and their robot associate. Too many variables to know without a little more information; she frowned. Her lips pursed, drawing out an extra half-beat of calculating silence before she turned on Geoff.

"The red uniforms mean they're officers. That means they're not pushovers. Assuming we can get them alone, are they particularly dangerous?"

( Bit tired, pardon the shortness. Mostly posting to not hold things up on my end. )

Tau directed his focus towards the downed space craft for several seconds then visually inspected the surrounding area. Not finding any further interest, Tau quietly boarded the waiting van shortly after.

Geoff only offered a bewildered look in response to the feline's intentions at first, having fully meant to avoid any interaction with the others outside. Strangely enough, he let out an amused laugh a few seconds later, shaking his head.

"'Particularly dangerous' would be putting it lightly. Maybe not to us exactly, but still," he mentioned with a grin, but it soon faded off, his tone soon humorless. "But they aren't too fond of me, to be honest, and that feeling is more or less mutual. Yeah, we might get some info off of them if we managed to get some solitary, face-to-face talkin', but I guess I'll leave it up to you if you want to trust those uniforms or not. Not saying that I actually believe they've completely converted... but still."

He shrugged then, his eyes roaming back to the window to check up on the idling truck outside.

"Your choice. I'll back you up if you want to go chasing them, but it might be pointless."

Tabitha chewed at her lower lip, eyes darting everywhere, as decisions were silently made. She opened her mouth to speak, then closed it as she took role, and shook her head at some nagging thought.

"Right," she said to the group at large, though what followed was likely more pertinent to Geoff than anyone else. "I'm not looking to start a fight; officially, this is recon, but considering who's pulling the strings here, I'm going to assume it'll get sticky."

The cat gulped back an arid breath, and continued in a harried, but firm tone, "That being said, if you'll pardon the expression, we don't need all our eggs in one basket if this goes south, so Tails, if you please, I'd like you," she nodded to the fox, "and at least one other relatively able-bodied person to get back to base camp."

"The rest of you, following the van is priority two -- staying out of sight is priority one. If you lose track of both the van and us, head back to camp."

Her large ears swiveled about to the ignition of a nearby engine, her head following a half second after before she added one final addendum:

"This isn't up for discussion."

It remained to be seen how true that was, or how willing any of the group was to take orders from a little wisp of a girl like Tabby, but she certainly left no room for argument. No sooner was the last syllable out of her mouth, than was she hurtling at the junction of the cross-sectioned building's front face and side walls, kicking off one after the other, after the other, until reaching the conspicuously absent ceiling, which she flung herself effortlessly up and over with a tight somersault. She landed concisely on the roof of a neighboring building in a well-controlled roll, and hit the ground running.

Tails continued to take the cat's advice, following it with great intensity as he sat by the window, staring holes into the side of the van.

Coop had no such intentions.

"This is stupid," the titanic Eagle mumbled.

"..."

"...Come on," he said, to the Fox, gesturing down into the recesses of the building, "if the cat and the hedgehog guy are planning on getting all the attention drawn up to the skyline, then the best place to attack is from the ground, if you want to do something."

"I want to stay up here," said Tails, "I have an idea. If I can just—"

"Look, said the Eagle impatiently, and then, "f… don't... actually, no, on second thought, do whatever. You're probably better at saving the world than me anyway. Just be really sure your plan will work. No point in Eggman getting you. Anything I can do?"

"Um," Tails said, and then brightened up, "yeah! If you could keep going and, well, if you could be really careful and distract them from down below, too, I think I could get to the van without anyone noticing."

Coop narrowed his eyes.

"How."

Tails turned to the side and flapped his tails a bit.

"Flying!" he said, "you know I can fly, right?"

Coop gave the fox a long, slow, suspicious look, then:

"Ok," he said, and dropped down into the lower section of the building.

It was a good thing they were sorting things out quickly. It didn't seem like they'd have a whole lot of time. The van, fully loaded (and lurching comically toward one corner after Tau boarded, before the hoverjets could compensate for his immense mass), whirred silently and briskly away.

Though the hovering vehicle was cruising the same streets used by normal cars and trucks, its driver seemed to be ignoring traffic signals and virtually all forms of right-of-way that were not enforced by the bumper of a yet-larger vehicle. It almost appeared as though they knew they were being followed, and were trying to escape. The truth was, however, that it was just Rock's driving.

"I hate driving," Rock announced gruffly to his passengers, a robot too big to fit in the driver's seat and a girl worse at driving than him, as if anyone in the vehicle would care.

It was hard to be sure where they were going, weaving along broken streets, through traffic, and barreling directly through the metropolitan area (and even on the sidewalk a couple times), but there was an Eggman-operated emergency center coming into view ahead.

"Alright. Hrghm. This..." Coop muttered, as he watched the van begin to drive away.

"This had better," he looked up at the sky, where a small orange figure drifted up into the chemical-bleached, burnt red sunset sky in pursuit of the van, "this had better be worth it."

"Hey," he said, stepping out of the hollow building façade, "hey!"

He walked up to the closest robot that did not look likely to kill him instantly, and smacked it into a wall.

To say that Rock's caper had been fully prepared for the chase he offered would have been to paint Tabitha as inexplicably omniscient. True, she had been prepared to run down on foot someone driving like a bat out of hell, but...perhaps not such a blind one, or otherwise, not one so blatantly unconcerned with the safety of bystanding signs, post boxes, various friendly robots of every Egg-maginible make and model, trash cans, bus stops, and his own passengers, to name a few.

After vaulting over an air conditioning unit whose impressive collection of rust alluded to much better days, the blurring free runner very nearly lost sight of her quarry, but regained a lot of ground after sailing cleanly across the street to an adjacent stretch of rooftops.

"Ridiculous!" she huffed, more taxed than she'd have liked to admit. "This guy's good."

"Yeah, well unless it's masochistic, I'd say driving hates you too," chided the other primate, looking irresponsibly unfazed in her gratuitously reclined seat, gaudy booted feet up on the dash.

"Think you missed a pedestrian at that crosswalk back there. You want Tau t'lean out the window an' get it for you?"

Meanwhile, a happy little squirrel popped out of the Cop Speeder Coop had just obliterated against a wall. While the squirrel (or ricky, technically) skittered away, another Cop Speeder nearby turned to address the eagle.

"Hey! You! Fat bird!" it announced in a stereotypical police-megaphone-voice. "Was that a wrist spasm, or did your big fat body have t'throw out its brain t'make room for another delicious roast beef sandwich?! You go catch that animal right this instant and have it put back in another robot pronto!"

Coop squared up to face the cop speeder now addressing him.

"BITE ME," he announced, vigorously and with candour.

As Tabitha made her mad sprint across the rooftops, there was an echoing set of footsteps following her path. Having managed to reach the high road like her (although not as gracefully; much hasty clambering up a floor or two had been involved), he attempted to match her movements as they gave chase to the runaway van. Of course, he lacked the finesse and experience involved in such precarious movements the feline had great access to, but he was catching on quick. Still, he did not bother to try to overcome the cat before him, believing she would be the better leader. It was her territory, after all, and besides, he doubted he could even beat her out on her efficiency across the roofs. There was still the moment where he needed to pause to discern the obstacles before him before continuing on, unlike her headstrong approach.

"Or he just doesn't care," he huffed behind her as he slid for a brief moment from the long distance jump, doing his best not to glance downward to the street. "Let's just keep up. Can't be much farther now."

He was developing a rhythm now, forming a tempo of pounding feet, brief hops and gliding jumps, finding a form of enjoyment in it all. To think he didn't even want to pursue the van in the first place.

Coop began to be assailed by a small horde of Cop Speeders, the functional equivalent of a bunch of little, hovering, robotic-monkey-piloted bumper cars with police lights bolted on top. The scene descended into relentless and mindless bumping pandemonium.

He had everybody's attention, even some other robots. No one was really trying to jump in or help yet, though. They just seemed content to watch the zipping, scurrying crowd try to bump the big bird into submission.

The van whined down loudly as it came to a grinding stop at the curb (or well atop the curb) of the emergency center, shut down its thrusters, and settled noisily onto the concrete.

The driver's door popped open, and out stepped Rock, who, with quick strides, stepped to the van's side, slid open another door, and carefully removed Rouge, who was already starting to seem a little more... with it—which is to say she was dazed, but likely coming around.

"Tau, wouldja keep an eye on the stuff?" he requested with a nodding gesture of his head toward the black cases, which by that point had spilled around the floor. Given any affirmative response (as if Tau wouldn't want to sit around and have bizarre, foreign technologies to fiddle with), Rock turned and plodded off to enter the facility with their patient (or captive?)

It was a lot like a hospital, but not quite. There were robotic guards at the door, a couple plain, orange Egg Pawns, neither terribly attentive, and a lot of fluorescent lights, beige concrete floors, and painted metal walls, which gave the place more the air of a garage than of a medical facility. Still, it was clean, smelled strongly of sanitizer, and staffed both by nursely-looking robots and white-uniformed organic sapients. Cameras mounted high on the walls swiveled slowly, while all the chatter and noise one would expect from the hospital bounced and echoed off the hard surfaces. There were even some plants here and there, maybe for the impression, nay, insinuation of comfort. (They were plastic.)

The place Rock was most likely heading was the front desk, where there was a robot with a stretcher—no, scratch that, a robotic stretcher, self-propelled—waiting at ready, next to a similarly robotic receptionist, who looked more like a vaguely humanoid stick figure of metal tubes with almost-cartoony white-gloved hands and a nurse's hat for a head.

Coop stood there, among the crowd of bumps, for a second or two, before he had what initially appeared to be some kind of seizure. He waved his arms around above his head; he elbowed things; he pushed backward with his legs, bouncing off a speeder behind him and colliding with one directly in front of him.

"Get out of here!" he yelled, increasing his arm waving to a sort of windmill of off-balance haymakers, like someone trying to swat an entire swarm of bees out of the air.

He flailed about, bouncing off of cop speeders like a big, angry pinball off of a million bumpers.
